May 05 2008, 01:04 PM
Mr. Salt: I am not 100% sure about the location of the maceman van on friday afternoon, but I do know that if you find him or me in person between now and then, you can sign up that way as well. I do not, however, understand your resistance to using the wonderful service that titleDISC provides. I do not feel that I have done my job if the great Charles Cox MCMXVIII does not embrace my service. :D
Mrs Frodaddy: Mace has traditionally given metal mini trophies to first (and I believe second) place. I cannot be certain that he intends to do that for this year's event, but I will call him in a few minutes to find out. I will also ask about the pre-reg requirements, but I can say for sure that it is a good idea, regardless of which method you use. The more people that show up on Saturday wanting to pay, the longer it takes to get started. pre-registration is super cheap (at least with titleDISC it is ;)) and saves us all a lot of time. I'd advise everyone to try and pre-register if at all possible.

May 06 2008, 09:14 AM
2 pre-registered with lots signing up the day before. I think part of the problem is that for some reason (Teague :p) people think that there won't be any payout at this event. That was a very benevolent idea, but it isn't true. There will be normal payout at A-Z doubles. Of course, if someone wanted to refuse their payout then that's cool too but by no means is it required. Another part of the problem is people saying things like "well there aren't very many teams registered yet so I'm just not going to register". That's ridiculous. If everyone waits for everyone else to register... *sigh*.
The weather is supposed to be beautiful for this one. There will be plenty of competition. If you are planning to play, get pre-registered ASAP so that those procrastinators will sign up too.
We will be having a raffle with at least a few things in it. If you want to donate some goodies (I've already had about 5 promises of donations plus the stuff I'm throwing in) then get with me this week or bring the raffle items to the event. I can meet you to pick up raffle items during the day in Arlington or after work in the Lewisville area. If the rain holds off, I should be at the McKinney mini on Wednesday. If you see either of them, you could probably leave smaller stuff with Michael Brownlow (Funkytown) or Clay Doggy Dog (ADGA) and I'm sure they'll get it to me with their donations.
edit: the above also goes for those of you who don't have credit cards or checking accounts and would like to sign up for the event in person. I can take your money any time during the day in Arlington, late afternoon in Carrollton / Lewisville / Denton, or Wednesday night in McKinney.

Texas MA2 Player of the Year
In the MA2 division, we have named Charles Cox III and Tony Bender the Co-MA2 Texas Players of the Year. Charles and Tony finished 3rd and 5th respectively in total AM points for 2003. Charles won two MA2 tournaments the A-tier Ziegenbock Texas 10 Charity Cup and the Gulf Coast Championship Series (Waco).
Tony won three MA2 tournaments in 2003, most notably the 8th Texas State Championships, and also the Veteran's Park Open and the Victoria Open. In his last MA2 tournament of the year, Bender finished 2nd at the Cold Turkey Shootout at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
The MA2 Players of the Year competed head-to-head in six tournaments in 2003. In these six tournaments Cox and Bender combined to win 5 of them. Bender took 1st place three times, while Cox took 1st place twice. In the one event that neither of them wonthe Pecan Park OpenCox finished 5th to Bender's 12th.
Charles appears to be moving up to the MA1 division with his 911 rating, as he cashed in 5th place in his first tournament of 2004 at the Mace Man's Big Show at Zboaz and then cashed again in MA1 the following weekend at the Big Show in Arlington.

June 1st (1-day C-tier on a Sunday): The titleDISC Open
June 7-8th (2 day B-tier): The Waco Charity Open
I personally guarantee that the scoring data, etc. *will* be in to the PDGA on time for these two events. Waco will be on titleDISC, available for pre-registration tomorrow. the TDO is expected to fill in the next couple of weeks, and I think Waco will get very close to filling shortly after that. a tournament is not a service, its an event that we all participate in, the only difference is the player gets to have fun and play golf no matter if he cashes or not, the TD in this case gets to put up with all the crap and hopefully make enough to pay the rent at the end of the month.

Mace is one of my best buds so it's hard for me to read this stuff, and it's even harder to say that I did pay for a service. Part of my entry fee was for the PDGA, ie. the players fee. With that comes the TD report and ratings.

1. Better Off Dead (1985)
This magnificent comedy, directed by Savage Steve Holland, was one of John Cusack's first films. Cusack plays Lane Meyer, a typical teenager with an active imagination surrounded by strangeness. Those of you that love to quote movies will find this film to a treasure trove of classic lines. I often chase people on my bicycle, yelling "Three dollars! I want my three dollars!" If you like this film, you'll want to see the unofficial sequel One Crazy Summer. Cusack plays a different character, but considering it was also written and directed by Steve Holland, it has a similar feel.
