so, was the entry fee $70 for sure? I don't remember... All I can say for sure is that I've known Mace for awhile and I've played his events for even longer than that. There's nothing in his payout or elsewhere that would make me think he's paying out any less than what's appropriate.
Well if he is paying out what he says than that just speaks good things about the other events I have played because they must have payed out 150%. I played a few events where I got more cash for placing lower than 3rd.
Also I know Cale was hoping for about $500-$600 and got $370 for 1st.
Yeppers....
Pdga sanctioning fee = $50
Pdga insurance = $50
Pdga player fees = $3 per
Players Pack = $10 per
Trophies = $25 ???
Food Bank charity = $3 per
It's amazing that there's any $cash$ left over for the players. I'm glad i still play for fun. :D

speaking as pending rookie of the year, (and for my good friend David Covalt), I like player packs. They are especially nice when that is all you will walk away with after having a sub par weekend, (not that that happens to someone of my caliber very often).
Though Covalt has become an Open player for the ages, he too tells me that he likes player packs. He often uses them when he is near elementary schools, (of course he is outside of the specified 500' range listed in court documents) as a point of conversation to meet new, young friends......

Is there anything else I need to learn before I leap head first into my 8th year of running events?
I learned one thing recently, that many of you don't give a darn about anything or anyone else besides your selfs. This may not be true for the majority of you, but it is true of the people that have their mouths open at all times barking orders and demands.
It is also true of all of the players that are waiting to see if it is going to rain in 2 days or not. The ace pot is only going to be worth around $2500, but there is no reason to make a commitment. Better hold out and see if it is nice outside. In any real Disc Golf City this event would have filled within a few days of being available, but not in the land of fair weather. If the sun is out we are in!!!
The time energy and effort exerted to make things as good as they are is worth nothing to you. It is not acceptable to you to be where we are, only to get where we are going. All of that will happen in due time. At this point I am becoming increasingly convinced that much of it will happen without me. I have been at this hard core for nearly 10 years, and in too many ways it is very apparent that I have been wasting my time, energy, and efforts. And for what, so I can have people that strive to make more money each year nickel and dime me to death on my prices. Not to mention having the junior pro wanna-be telling me what pro's want or need.
I am also aware that many of the people in this sport will give positive feedback in your presence and run you into the ground when you are gone. All of this and I get to be broke all the time on top of it!!!!
I will only be your punching bag for a short time longer, then the really smart guys can take over and run the greatest events ever. I have this 3 man dream team in mind, between these legendary bigmouths surly the best events of all time will be forthcoming. Things will be so good you won't even miss me.

Steps up on soap box
Scooter,
I do not know you, (and after reading your inflamatory posts against a fellow TD, I can't say I would want to know you), but you have obviously not ever run a PDGA tournament. Which is fine, but I have some advice for you, and I feel that it is founded since I have about 26 years of PDGA membership, playing and running tournaments under MY belt, and that advise is:
If you don't like the results of a tournament, or you don't like what a TD does, DON'T GO BACK!!! If you have a problem with a TD, discuss it with PM's not on this board!!!!!
There are tournaments in Texas every weekend in 2008 and many weekends you have your choice of many, so be so kind as to avoid the events that Brian works so hard to compile and make nice for those who enjoy the game for what it is, not what some want it to be.
Keep in mind here, I am not trying to be harsh here, but would like to see young men like yourself show a little respect to those fo us who paved the way for you youngsters to have the opportunity to play a tournament.

Not trying to side with either side....just stating my personal feelings....
I've run PDGA events and will run 2 more this year. I've been the asst. TD at many other events as well. I've played at least 24 events a year since being a PDGA member. Basically, I've seen a lot of things from TDs, both good and bad.
To me it seems (and this is coming from personal experience) that when someone has a problem with a TD or something within an event, there really is no correct way to handle it - no matter what, you look like someone who doesn't appreciate what the TD has done.
As a TD I dont take the negative things said about my event personally, I take them as constructive criticism.
Is it hard to run an event? Yes
Does it suck when someone complains about something that that you have worked for many months on? Yes
Does that player have the right to do so? Yes
Until we get rid of bad TDs(once again I've only played one sanctioned Mace Event and also played some of his doubles events and everything was fine, so not calling him or anyone else out), events will not improve and complaints will continue to happen.
However, on the flip side, the best event in the world will have complaints b/c you can't please everyone.

Thanks for the good words guys. Sorry for the negativity, I let a little too much out of the can this morning.
On a positive note I like seeing Jack Banks in Pro Grand Masters, I think you will be presented with a decision very soon if you keep playing in that division.
I set the divisions so that everyone has a chance to play up, unless you play a pro division. Take advantage and test the waters. You might hit an ace on the day you thought you had no chance. You won't know until you try.

Jan 03 2008, 01:08 PM
MTL,
I agree, you can not and will not please everyone, but there is a right way and a wrong way to handle complaints. Putting them on THIS MB brings out the "witch hunters", while using a PM will make the conversation private until the parties involved are satisfied that the problem has been resolved or they agree to disagree with out the assistance of the "witch hunters" and those who like to "stir the pot"..

I'm a little late to this thread, but as a DFW golfer I wanted to chime in. I don't know any of ya'll, but Mace, you do an awesome thing in putting together all these tournaments. No matter what we do, there are always ungrateful people... just know that behind the few big-mouthed complainers are dozens of very appreciative disc golfers.
And I think quibbling about payout is absolutely ridiculous. What are we talking about here, a $100 difference??? Woohoo, that's 2 or 3 tanks of gas. TD's deserve to keep a percentage of money raised...The amount they keep should be posted long before, and it could work both ways. They could keep less from each player, or take none at all, promising a bigger pay out. I personally do not have a problem with TD making money, as long as it is in the open. Everyone is always talking about how thankless it is. The truth is, td's suffer from a lag, or post pardom depression. Please don't take this the wrong way. Although it feels like a gigantic relief has been lifted from ones shoulders(when its over) the truth is, an empty hole is there, that doesnt fill until the next event begins. I think TD should be a paying job. I mean, your generating large amounts of money for the PDGA, money for the town, and giving players an event to play in. Maybe the PDGA should take 1.50$ a player and give the other 1.50$ per player to the T.D.. They are nothing without TD"S and you would just be a rec player without td's. Better TDs will have more players attending their events and therefore make more money.

For me and the events that I run, all money that I make, even through profits, I either donate back to the event or donate them elsewhere.
If I was paid to do it, I would put that money in the purse as a donation from me.
However, I do feel TD's should be paid.
n8bitner
Jan 03 2008, 04:34 PM
If every player were to donate an extra 1.50 and there were 150 players, the TD would have a $225 incentive to make that tourney great!!! I would not mind making an extra $110 dollars a day on the weekends!!
If this fee were $2.00 and there were 150 players, they make $300...you get the point!
This is a small price to pay to have someone donate their weekend to running a tourney.
By the way...who is running doubles? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Ok I just want to say I wasn't the only one [censored] about the payout at last year's Cedar Hill event but I am bringing it up because half the Pro division was [censored] because it seemed so low.
In a PDGA B-tier there is supposed to be $300 added to the pro purse. There were 26 players paying $70 to get in wEhich comes out to $1820 and probably $150 of the added money should have gone to the Open payout making the purse $1970 but the event payed out $1477 to the Pro division. So what I am asking is where they other %500 went? For 26 players to account for that it would mean that $20 was taken from EACH entry to go toward fees and such. I don't consider having only 70% of my entry going to payout as a good thing in a PDGA B-tier event. Now if it was a c-tier or something I wouldn't care (I have played many that payed out<$100 for 1st).
Anyway I went and looked through every B-tier of comparable size that I played and the Pro purse in this one was way lower than those. Anyway I will still be at Cedar Hill and Zboaz not expecting the payout to be great but luckily the courses are so I still enjoy going.

Put away the slide rule ....... back away from the slide rule!
I believe you were offered the opportunity to discuss the tournament finances with the TD in private. It would probably be much more productive to do so. Otherwise, if you really have to do something with your slide rule, consider trying to figure out the hourly wage that the TD earned for his time and report back. Either that or do something else with it.
I do hope that some day we focus more on rewarding those who are pushing the sport further as opposed to those who are merely leeches on it.

We are proud to be lovers of women sir. Many in the KC metro area for Dave.
And now for an update, I know my next comment will strike fear into those that dare to come out tomorrow and joy to those that are looking forward to seeing some top notch dbl's action. After the couple that Dave was hitching up found out that he would be missing out on golf, (his 2nd love after the KC Chef's), they opted to change their wedding to a summer event. Dave and The Smoking gun will take the field tomorrow at 1500. Look out ladies cause we are coming for your scalps.....

I have no problem with a TD making money on an event but it better be a darn good event. Mace's tournaments are run well and are usually on good courses but it is well know that the payout isn't the best. Anyway I'm done and I'll be trying to take 1st at Cedar hill in hopes I'll get $200.

Not that my opinion matters or that anyone cares.
I own a business and I don't discuss my profits or commissions with my clients. Frankly it's non of their business. You as players are the clients or customers of the TD. He is offering a product with your cost information up front.
You as the customer must decide if the product is worth the price being charged. If you feel it is too high or not enough value , then you the customer have every right to look for another provider.
For what a TD has to do to prepare for a tournament of Mace's caliber, $3,000 compensation wouldn't be enough. Even at that if he ran 10 tournaments a year it would only result in $30K per year and this doesn't take in account his personal expenses.
Scooter, at your age you may think that is a lot of money, well it isnt. Try to raise a family on that.
While not impossible, it is very difficult.
So, Scooter it comes down to this. You or any other player have NO RIGHT to ask a TD what his profit or take on a tournament is. Simply decide if it is of value to you or not, if not move on. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Scooter, its simple business, So why don't you give us an example of what type of business you would run that your customers require you give them a 100% return on their purchase and at the same time you must disclose all of your expenses and profits, if you could find any profit in this example.

Also...Let's drop the issue of the payout. Mace is a full grown man and can handle what is thrown at him. If matt does not like it he won't play. Mace knows better than to let an 18 year old mess with him. We were all that age not long ago and looking back, we all would have done things a little different and probably not said a few things that we did. Matt will soon learn when and where things need to be said...for now he is still learning. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

It had been reported that me and the Great K.C. were going to give you all something to see today, but alas, it was not meant to be. The great one was stricken with Ebola this morning and will not be able to come and give you all a show. But be of good cheer as a backup has been found. This individual has been known in past years as "THE DISC GOLF CONQUEROR". His skills are bare none, "unearthly". It is as if God himself inhabits his right arm on the disc golf course. No it is not Scott Stokely or Ken Climo, those guys are enthusiast in comparison. So let us all keep Dave in our thoughts as he recoups, but I would also add for the competition, watch out cause we are coming....

Thanks for all of the support. I didn't mean to get everyone all riled up, I just was not in the mood to listen to that crap again for the 8th year. But it is true I am a grown man and I can and have handled the situation.
Now to answer the questions, I have no control over the exact time the meeting will start. That is dependent on how many players want to contribute to the Replace My Van Fund. So put simply I am shooting for a 9 AM meeting. I have no idea how many players are looking to get into this event late, but they will have a direct effect on the timely start of the event. I think that it would be cool if everyone that signed up early would hold a pep rally around the players that insist on signing up on Saturday Morning to let them all know how much you appreciate them getting in when ever it is convenient for them. :D

No half time report? How many of the ADV and REC players already have their share of the etimated $2200+ ace pot? Will there be any left over for the OPEN and INT divisions, or will no ADV or REC player hit an ace today and all leave all of it for tomorrow? the real ware did not show up but the grip locking laying up putt one did. very disappointed in myself for lack of golfing l I tried to play this weekend. you know its going to be bad when you are warming up and you throw your only max which comes in handy out there in the pond. oh well enjoyed everyone I played with and not once did I throw my mini or get upset. ;) congrats to the winners. nice come back Nolan and good job Mace thank you for the timely awards meeting so we could get on the raod. I still think I should have been allowed to throw my drives than pick up and take 7's (par plus 4) :)
We must have brought the same game game Mr. Ware! Pretty weak considering the course is full of 2's!

Zach Doggett hole 5
David Landis hole16
Todd Yantis hole 4
Don OConnell hole 13
Mike Grider hole 14
Brandon Lowery hole 14
Lots of metal as well, from what I was told. I saw Ben Reynolds on Saturday and Nate Bittner on Sunday each catch a lot of metal on hole 12c.

Thanks Gary!!
So here are the main points I was looking for:
* Amateurs are now allowed to accept merchandise in lieu of cash when competing in professional divisions.
Pros Playing Am :
Pros rated <970 may now compete in Amateur divisions offered at PDGA Tour A B and C tier events, for which they qualify based on player rating, age, and gender:
Pro Men
<970 can play Advanced
<935 can play Intermediate
<900 can play Recreational
<935 can also play Advanced Master if they are of Masters age
<850 can play Novice
<900 can also play Advanced Grandmaster if they are of Grandmasters age
If I read the above correctly then an Am could accept cash in a Pro event and continue to play in Advanced Am events as long as their rating stayed below 970. However, if the Am is of Masters age and rated higher than 935 they would not be eligible to play Adv. Masters.
And am I correct in my interpretation of these new guidelines?
Also the points earned are not eligible for year end awards or Worlds invites. But would they still be eligible to play in Worlds in both Am and Pro divisions? Or is Worlds invitation only?

Mace,
Thanks for running a great tournament. Overall SuperGirl (Nicole) had a good time. She was very disappointed in her play at times, but she made enough good throws to make the overall experience positive.
Does anyone know the length of hole 12c (the temporary wide open hole near the parking lot). Nicole had one good drive into the wind on that hole. The disc landed about 60 feet to the right of the basket, but was almost even with the basket. It was probably one of her best in-to-the-wind drives ever. Ever with a great drive, she still got a 5 on that hole (wind got under her approach shot, missed the putt, missed the comeback putt, then dropped in for 5). Well if anyone knows the approximate distance of that hole, please let me know.
Lastly, I want to thank Nolan Grider for giving Nicole some pointers after Sunday's rounds. Hopefully this will help improve her drives. I also want to thank the intermediate men for their positive comments about Nicole's play on Sunday. She said she liked playing with the guys.
Thanks...........Rick

Thanks for all the replies. I have been trying to teach SuperGirl (Nicole) the x-step for the last 6 months and we can't seem to get it right. She will have a few big throws, but the rest of her throws will be shorter and all over the place. She played hole 12c four times this past weekend. She had one big throw, but the rest were shorter and ranged from way right to way left (almost hitting the 3rd base fence on the baseball field). During the weekend she had some really nice throws, but she also had many throws that were way off.
I think I need to take some pictures of her and post it in the "throwing techniques" section. That way we can get more input on how to improve her throws. I think the real problem is that I am trying to teach her a throwing technique that is much different than my own throwing technique (my technique sucks!). Therefore she learns nothing from watching me throw.
Thanks again for the replies.........Rick

hey Rick, I was on the card with Nicole the first round on Sunday. she started out really smooth, and her drives were really nice, i noticed as the round when on she was starting to pull some drives. my initial reaction was that she was trying to put more power and speed into the throw and she should probably get back to the steady and smooth stroke she had at the beginning of the round. but take that with a grain of salt, i was playing int after all. :D

Since I haven't let the cat all the way out of the bag yet, I will explain the way The Z Boaz Open will work for 2008.
Since I have done this more than a few times I have come to the conclusion that the event needs to be run in the following manner.
The event will be split into 4 pools. Pro, Adv A, Adv B, and Int/Rec. We will use the original and the temp on the north side of the tracks.
In order to pull this off it will require cooperation from all players (I realize that this is the toughest feat of all but I am confident you can do it). It will also require that all players that want to play this event be signed up by Friday, thats right you will have to be in the event before the day it starts.
Saturday will go like this. We will split the Adv pool into 2 groups and at 7:30 am Group A will play Z Boaz, Group B will play the temp. These pools will not exceed 54 players each (3somes). At approx. 10 AM the Pro Pool and the Int/Rec pools will hit the courses, these pools will be capped at 72 players (4somes). After that we will repeat the process.
At the end of the day on Saturday everyone will have 2 rounds in. Everyone will play one round of each on Saturday.
On Sunday 2 possible scenarios will take place, it depends on how many adv players sign up. If there is less than 90 adv players (witch I expect there will be) then the pools will be combined, and play the Original at 8:30 am on the original. If there is too many Adv players, we will keep them split and they will each play the Original one after the other. This will take a little longer to complete, but since they are small groups they will move through the course quickly. The Rec/Int pool will play the temp at the same time. This will be followed by the Pro pool starting around mid day (11am to 12ish). All of this will be followed by the Z Boaz Format Skins Match.
I am sure that there are plenty of questions and doubt that this will work. If you eliminate the doubt on your end that will be the start of the success of the plan. We have run this event in several different ways and have determined that combined is the best way. I have listened to all of the complaints, as well as looking at the inherent problems and taxes that come to running this event this way and the other (split weekends) and this is the better option from the operators standpoint. This is the most important stand point, because without an operator there is no event.
Let the arguments begin!!

I have question about the requirement that all players be signed up by friday. I had planned on driving in early Saturday to save on lodging costs, since I will have to stay over one night anyway. As a grad student, I don't have a lot of money and entry + one night stay will already be somewhat taxing.
If this is how it has to be, I understand and know you are just doing the best for the tournament. On the other hand, I would like to hear an explanation if possible. I mainly wonder why we can't sign in before the round on Saturday, even if it does require being there super early (I will be playing advanced).
While I'm on the topic, is there anywhere in the area that I could set up a tent. I have looked online, but haven't been able to find a place. If there were somewhere, it would greatly save on lodging cots, and more of less alleviate my concerns.

If this is the case, then I am perfectly fine with that, however, that is not what I interpreted Mace's post to mean.
It will also require that all players that want to play this event be signed up by Friday, thats right you will have to be in the event before the day it starts.
In that little snippet, he uses the words signed in, which is not the same as pre-reg (in my understanding). If my interpretation is wrong, then I have no beef. And if signing in on Friday is required, I would just like to hear an explanation because it is different than anything I've ever played before and I think could cost a lot of player a lot extra. If it is necessary, that is fine, I would just like to understand why it is.
p.s. - thanks for the link geo.

I know that you have not done this in the past but...will there be an early am payout option for those that need to get on the road.
I ask this because if the ams are going to be done playing in the tournament before noon, it would be nice to get on the road early instead of waiting untill 7 or 8 like in years past.
Thanks again for trying to accomodate everyone...required pre-reg is NOT to much to ask.

I am guessing that we will have a good turnout again on Sunday at the Mighty Z for the weekly.....since there will be no football of any interest to the local golfers.
And in answer to your question GEO, you quoted me correctly in your post and misinterpreted me in your mind. Read it again it says signed up by Friday not signed in. You will check in on Saturday.
Let me clarify it like this. Registration for The Z Boaz Open closes on Friday Feb 15, 2008.
And as for your question Jake, when you say need, you really mean want to get on the road.
Now in this sentence I really mean Need not Want, If you play the event you need to stay until it is over. If you participate in an event you need to give yourself enough time to complete the event.
If you come to the event and need to get out of here, maybe you need to reconsider coming to the event.
It is very funny how most players judge the quality of an event solely based on the payout, not the great shots or the friends that were made. Even the people that think they know what they are talking about will bash an event to death based entirely on the their perception of the quality of the event based on the payout. But when that payout is being given out many of the judges NEED to be somewhere else. I want to figure out a way to misjudge an event based on the way that everyone runs out of there at the end.

With all due respect to all of the TD's that enable me to have a lot of fun competing; i've taken on a new practice. Immediately after my last putt drops, i hit the road. If i win the event, i'll stick around:D, but i NEED to get home to the family as soon as possible.

glad to hear that I misinterpreted the previous post about checking in. (To be fair, it was me, not Geo).Requiring pre-reg is definitely acceptable and potentially even better tournaments in general. Can't wait for this one.

Well, EXCUUUUUUUUUSE me Sir Macealot. Judging from your condescending reply you really were not "willing to listen to any input" as you had stated earlier.
Allow me to address a few of your comments:
First of all I have never publicly bashed you, your payout, prices, or your events. A a matter of fact over the last five years I have stood up for you and your events over and over again(the raffle incident really wasn't a big deal at all). Take the amount of bashes that you get on this board and times it by ten and that would be a more accurate representation of how people feel about Maceman.I have defended you for the last five years against those people and those days are now officially over. I take personal offense to your accusations!
Second, let me tell you something that you know nothing about! ...............Family obligations.
When I have 2 children at home under the age of three and a 5 hour drive ahead of me I NEED to get home at a reasonable time. Whether it be due to family obligations, a stipulation from my wife I be home at a certain time, or the fact that I NEED to be with my family more than you. ;) Finishing my last round of the event before 11:00 and not getting home before midnight is not an option for people in my situation. Again I take personal offense to you telling me what I NEED to do when you know absolutly nothing about my family obligations. That is not to mention the fact that you have done and will do early payouts for certain people.
Business sure must be good at Maceman disc golf gear when you flat out tell players not to come to your events. I am currently deciding which event to come down for and based on your own advice I will certainly reconsider coming to any of your events. I definatley will not be dragging anyone down from Tulsa of getting any of my friends out from FTW with full knowledge that there will be an8 hour delay form the time we finish our round and the time we leave the park.
I have been to the Zboaz open for the last four years despite the fact that I have had 2 kids and moved 5 hours away. Maybe the one day event in Lewisville fits my schedule better.

I received a phone call last night from an AM golfer that WAS going to come to the Z-Boaz open. Now he/she is not coming after finding out that he/she is going to have to wait 6 hours before payout. Maybe Mace should use Maceman.com for payout. The player would probably have to spend $5-$7 on shipping, would that be okay with the masses?

I was told that even though you take advantage of a group of inexpierenced throwers, (not him of course as he was playing hurt during the most recent series), during own the hole events, he believes your idea is a good one. Nice job after all these years, it looks like you may have finally gained Mr. Covalt's favor......

I would like to address this two ways First and foremost, I never said that there would not be any early payouts. I just said that You didn't need to be anywhere, you wanted to be somewhere. That is to everyone not just Jake. Lets be realistic, are you really going to take that from what I said? Are you going to think that I would actually be so unreasonable that I would make you wait for up to 8 hours to get your payout?????
Now I will address the current load of BS I am greeted with on this fine day.
Well, EXCUUUUUUUUUSE me Sir Macealot. Judging from your condescending reply you really were not "willing to listen to any input" as you had stated earlier.
Sorry Jake, I will never, NEVER joke with you again.
Bashers are not the people that are going to carry this sport forward, they are the ones that are going to hold it back. What is the basing based on? Personal opinions? Well that is all loaded with facts. It doesn't matter who runs an event there are people that are going to talk crap. If you have defended me that is fine and thanks. Those that bash, those are the one's I can do without.
I really have stopped caring how people feel about Mace Man, because those people that have something bad to say about Mace Man are in one of two categories, the first group is completely uninformed and are saying things based on ridiculous thoughts and wishes. The second group is a hateful self serving group that has never done anything positive move the sport forward. Those are also the people that think it is there right to show up on Saturday and sign up for the event. Don't feel a lose there if they go away.
You take personal offense!?!?!? At what me poking fun at you with a play on words? It is a joke Jake lighten up and laugh a little.
Finishing my last round of the event before 11:00 and not getting home before midnight is not an option for people in my situation. Again I take personal offense to you telling me what I NEED to do when you know absolutly nothing about my family obligations. That is not to mention the fact that you have done and will do early payouts for certain people
Again I never said anything one way or the other on weather I would let the payout go early. Honestly and Seriously, have you ever seen me be this unreasonable????? You are almost right, I do have an idea, but it is only an idea on the family side.....again I was joking with you JAKE!!
Now I am going to take "Personal Offense" with your statement. I have not allowed anyone to take an early payout at the Z Boaz Open with one exception on my part and one on Brandon's part. These exceptions were both "Top Pro's" and they were acting like....well they were acting like you are right now. They were riding each of us to get their money and get out of there, and in both instances we decided that it would be better to stop what we were doing for everyone at the time and get them out of all of our hair asap. Other than that I have only made deals to pay people later not right now.
No Jake things are not that good. In fact they are not good enough that I am willing to put up with any of this BS anymore either. I will tell you and the entire world this at the same time, if you have something better to do than do it. If you are going to run around and talk sh and come any way what does that say about you? If you are looking for a good time and want to play a solid event then come on, but if you don't fit that mold stay where you are right now because we are not interested in working our collective butts off to make this happen for you , just the grateful one's. Drag or leave them behind, if they want to be here they will find a way.
I have been to the Zboaz open for the last four years despite the fact that I have had 2 kids and moved 5 hours away. Maybe the one day event in Lewisville fits my schedule better.
Now that would be a Quality substitution, Lewisville over Z Boaz. Thats a good one. :D
It is very funny how this thread got so quiet for several days after I posted something that is sure to cause some discomfort, that being the format for this year. Then without saying anything firm at all about the operation of the event, many of you jumped to the conclusion that I was not going to continue accommodating your needs on this event and allow you to leave at a reasonable time in relation to your completion of the rounds. Let it be known the entire reason that I changed to format was to make this event better for people like you Jake. I didn't say that I would not allow the payout to be early on this event and this event only.
If any of the things I have said above get your blood boiling and you find you can't come and support Mace Man Events than you have to live with your decisions. But if you are going to come and be a complaining element at the event is that really going to be fun for you? If you are that person than by all means stay away.

I demand to have caddies and golf carts provided at the TD's expense. Otherwise I will not play any maceman events EVER! Some of the holes at Z-Boaz are too hard. Some are too easy. Fix that or I won't show. Also, there are way too many good players that come out to your events. I *never* win any MaceMan events and i'm left in the shadow of my better half who almost *always* wins MaceMan events. This is crap and you know it. Keep the good players away or I will choose another event!
If the temperature is below 70 degrees for even one minute during this event, I will require a refund immediately. If it rains, I want to be compensated! I also need to be provided a new bag and set of discs so that I don't have to risk losing one of my own. I shouldn't have to play with my own discs at YOUR event. All other TDs provide massage therapists for pre-round warm-up and post-round cool down. Every other tournament I have ever played paid for my gas and time that it took to drive to and from the event. The TD always lets me stay at his house and cooks me breakfast in the morning. If MaceMan can't do this then I'll just go play other events where I feel more wanted.
I'm getting tired of TDs making profit from events, too. I will never play another event where the TD doesn't work at least 30 hours to prepare for and lose at least $1000 dollars in the payout. I don't want to donate to ANY charity, much less a worthy one. I don't want to encourage new players to the sport... they might get good and start beating me. I bet that would really screw up my rating, too. I love my rating. You wanna hurt my rating, you better get ready for a fight.
I can't stand any of the tens if not hundreds of people I've met and gotten to know because of your events. I do not value any friendships I've made nor have I ever had any fun competing. I *hate* being outside all day playing disc golf. Even more than that I hate meeting and watching disc golf's top pros play the sport I spend so much time hating. Those jackarses always seem to show up to the Z-Boaz Open and it really pisses me off. You need to get your crap together Mace. You know as well as I do that every other tournament is awesome and yours completely suck.

Vince did you really say that??
"All of the women that show up"???, do your homework sir.
The skins match has been worth $1000 each year for the last several. The added money for The Big Show has been split between the Cedar Hill event and The Z Boaz Open in the past and will be the same this year. We have been able to add $1000+ in the past several events to the Z Boaz Open Purse, and I hope to exceed that this year. I have a couple of companies that are willing to support this year more so than in the past. So if everything goes well It will be better than before.
BTW how much will you be willing to support this event and all the women that show Mr Round Rock?
