It is hard for this course to not look good. I was down there Sunday and Monday. They can't cuTT the grass because it is so DRY. If they try to cut the grass all of it will die. the only holes that really needs to be cuTT is hole 3 around the basket, and hole 5 around the basket, other than that it is already skip city everywhere.

Hole 9 seems somewhat confusing, and I'm hoping Matt or someone can clear it up(the caddy book probably does, but I can't see it yet - stupid computer). Is the OB opposite of the last year's? We played it as the middle part was OB. Is this correct? I played it that way. I threw my drive under the giant wall, and hit the outfield wall. I'm not sure what to make of the hole, but hey what's new. ;)

Sep 28 2007, 04:34 AM
Of course it IS Luke Butch...IMO this is the best and only event to watch....The course is made for spectaotrs, and the play and commroderie is top notch. The playaz party rocs and the action is non stop!!! You can watch hole one for hours and be entertained, or you could grab the occasional group and follow them for 7 hols and start over...You can watch holes 3 4 5 break peoples hearts, or you could watch people slam the lattice on 7....The action never stops....If you want to be a little closer to the action, you could be a caddy, which is every group.....The course rocs out, and is very humbling. DO IT!!! O and LUKE, there is poker every night down there.
...I got a flight for $156. from JFK....Yeaherrr, be there monday!!!!

Sep 28 2007, 07:23 AM
It is worth it, I have made the trip down from Maryland twice and had a lot of fun and played some golf too. Last trip I concentrated on rennie as my morning "play" course then watched the action the rest of the day at winthrop. Played the turnie layout once too on Sunday that was fun. I did not make it last year but plan to return this year with the hornets nest as my play course. There is a nice campground in Winthrop too, (not sure if there will be any spots left but I'll think of something) the important thing is to go if you get the chance it is a blast.

Looks like Harless, Barr and Hammock are the primary iron men. Hammock DNF'd after 12 and 3 holes and had one complete round plus he's trying again now. If he can't do better than his 66 along the way, he may not finish the fourth round. Looks like Harless didn't make it past the fifth hole on his first three tries. I wonder what happened to Rob Kelly such that he DNF'd after playing hole 1. Missed the mando? :o

I never made that accusation. That was made a while back on this thread about last year.
Then chuck asked what happened if people quit and there was 2 left.

last year, they added 3 spots, to better fill the field. I do not think that will be the case this year.
For those who don't have to qualify on Monday, you may want to take a break and head to the US National Whitewater Center for a little whitewater rafting. Their recirculating man made river system will offer 2 hours of fun for about $30 a person. They also have a rock wall, and are lust a cool place to hang out, get a bite to eat, have a drink and generally relax. It's about 35 minutes up the road just off I-85. www.usnwc.org (http://www.usnwc.org)
Thanks for this information Matt!
This is a fantastic place!! :D
Just came in from rafting...what fun. I wish I'd brought my bike. You can also climb or ride the zip-line.
In addition to the fun outdoor activities there is a great patio bar/restaurant that looks out over the property. A great place for watching the sunset with a frosty cold one. There is good food & an extensive reasonably priced beer selection. ($3 for a pint of Newcastle)
If you want to go it's about 20-25 minutes away. (just past the airport near 85 & 285) Highly recommended.

Gotta say, most amazing round of the day goes to Lil Wig. Wow. He took a double bogey on 18 to shoot a 70. Look at how many top rated golfers he beat there. That's just insane David. Be proud.
And I'm willing to bet after #18, he picked his putter out of the basket, shook hands all around, got a hug from pop, and went skipping/running off beyond #4 and #5 to throw a few drives for fun........... Great youngun'
best thing about it (and i dont know if anyone got a picture of this) was BiggWigg (aka... jr) was using a radio flyer red wagon as his cart!

not to start any 'controversy' but... since it was brought up quite a bit @ Monday Qualifiers about those that already got in but forgot to register (or whatever the reason) taking others spots...
Of the list up right now... who in this list is one of those 'offenders' that people are talking about?
Cale Leviska - 63
Brian McRee - 63
Jesse Heinonen - 64
Jason Land - 64
Tony Gerling - 64
Larry Bledsoe - 64
Jonathan Pierce - 64

News of the morning is Jason Land (<font color="red">C</font>utt) is a no show, maybe personal reasons, maybe he overslept. At this point were not sure.
Tony parred hole 1, the other 4 birdied.
