The following info was posted on a different thread and it is all TRUE!!
This just in....
In conjunction with the North Texas Series event @ Bi-centennial Park @ Crowley Texas December 2nd, Terry Adams , owner of Play It Again Sports ( Hulen St. location ) has officially sponsored a long drive contest free to all participants in this event.
The payout is as follows.....
Cash Prizes
1st place- $300.00
2nd place- $150.00
3rd place- $100.00
4th place- $75.00
5th place- $50.00
I will remind you , this is available to competitors only.
Big thanks to Terry Adams and Brice Longerbone for all his efforts @ bicentennial.
Still unofficial, but I believe the Big-D contest will commence on top of the big hill on hole 2.
BRING FORTH THE BOOM.
Here are some more details:
It is free to everyone who plays in the Crowley event, so if you are wondering if you can just show up and throw the answer is NO. You must play the event as well.
We will hold qualifying during the lunch break. Everyone will have 5 throws to put their best drive forward. The top 7 distances will advance. The top 7 throwers will have 5 more drives each in the finals. The top 5 drives will qualify for the $$$. Only your best drive will count.
This will probably fall on deaf ears, but if you are planning on playing any of these events through the winter months please pleases please sign up as early as you can. We will be starting the meetings at 9am. If you show up at 8:55 to sign up you are making everyone wait on you.

Here's little ditty called WAKE UP by Rage against the machine:
<marquee> Come on!
Uggh!
Come on, although ya try to discredit
Ya still never read it
The needle, I'll thread it
Radically poetic
Standin' with the fury that they had in '66
And like E-Double I'm mad
Still knee-deep in the system's #$*&$!
Hoover, he was a body remover
I'll give ya a dose
But it can never come close
To the rage built up inside of me
Fist in the air, in the land of hypocrisy
Movements come and movements go
Leaders speak, movements cease
When their heads are flown
'Cause all these punks
Got bullets in their heads
Departments of police, the judges, the feds
Networks at work, keepin' people calm
You know they went after King
When he spoke out on Vietnam
He turned the power to the have-nots
And then came the shot
Yeah!
Yeah, back in this...
Wit' poetry, my mind I flex
Flip like Wilson, vocals never lackin' dat finesse
Whadda I got to, whadda I got to do to wake ya up
To shake ya up, to break the structure up
'Cause blood still flows in the gutter
I'm like takin' photos
Mad boy kicks open the shutter
Set the groove
Then stick and move like I was Cassius
Rep the stutter step
Then bomb a left upon the fascists
Yea, the several federal men
Who pulled schemes on the dream
And put it to an end
Ya better beware
Of retribution with mind war
20/20 visions and murals with metaphors
Networks at work, keepin' people calm
Ya know they murdered X
And tried to blame it on Islam
He turned the power to the have-nots
And then came the shot
Uggh!
What was the price on his head?
What was the price on his head!
I think I heard a shot
I think I heard a shot
I think I heard a shot
I think I heard a shot
I think I heard a shot
I think I heard, I think I heard a shot
'He may be a real contender for this position should he
abandon his supposed obediance to white liberal doctrine
of non-violence...and embrace black nationalism'
'Through counter-intelligence it should be possible to
pinpoint potential trouble-makers... and neutralize them.
Through counter-intelligence it should be possible to
pinpoint potential trouble-makers... and neutralize them
and neutralize them, and neutralize them, and neutralize them'
Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!
Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!
How long? Not long, cause what you reap is what you sow

I saw Rage at a club in Austin called Liberty Lunch back in 1994- to this day is still the best show that I have seen with Tool's lollapalooza festival set coming in second.
Best show ever..........
Probably Warped Tour 98 in Austin.
NOFX, Reverend Horton Heat, Unsane, Voo Doo Glow Skulls, Deftones, remaining members of Pennywise, so many others, probably one of the greatist days of my life. So awesome. I wish I remembered more than I do. It was soo friggin hot that day. Punk rock karaoke was awesome . To bad the warped tour is not a 10th of what it used to be! **** pop culture!

The Poison Ivy Open will be the next event in The North Texas Series. This event has steadily grown over the years to the point that we had 145 last year and turned away at least 10 players. This year should follow in that direction especially considering that the ace pot will be over $2000 by then.
So with that in mind, I ask you to please make your decision as soon as possible and sign up as soon as you know you are going to play. The reason is obvious, this event already has a draw, and now it has another. I would like to accommodate everyone that wants to play, and it may take splitting the event into two days. When I say that I am not saying that everyone would play 2 days. Some divisions would play Saturday and the rest on Sunday. The Ace pot would be on the line for both days and split accordingly after the second day. Before you ask all aces would split from both days.
Now I am fully aware that this is asking a lot, but please make a decision soon and sign up right after you do......actually this is not asking a lot at all, so come out and take your runs or stay home with your kitty.

While john is busy singing I would like to let you know that in order to accommodate what I expect to be a lot of players taking their shot at that large ACE POT The Poison Ivy Open will be a split event. We will have Rec and Advanced on Saturday, followed by Open and Intermediate on Sunday. This would allow you to play 2 times if you like, but you will have to move up to do it.
The answer before you ask is, yes all ace's from both days will split the entire ace pot.
Please sign up early .
You can sign up now MM.COM (http://www.maceman.com/cgi-bin/agora.cgi?product=Registration)

Hey flesner, use your exemption pay a lower fee, play advanced on Saturday, then move up and play open on sunday
48 ace runs on Saturday
48 birdies on sunday

Chris, Adam is correct. I choose the line up to facilitate players testing the waters in the division above. Anyone can play one division one day and then move up the other.
The 21 hole layout will be in use. If there is enough pre-registration to warrant it, the 24 hole layout can be put out there.
Please remember, the key to this event running smoothly is you signing up early. Even with the split schedule it will still be a crazy weekend with limited daylight. So again I ask you to please sign up early. You can do it now here. (http://www.maceman.com/cgi-bin/agora.cgi?product=Registration)
The meeting will be at 8:30 on both days.
Second! Anybody that played last year can GREATLY appreciate pre-reg's!

Can pro players drop down and play advanced on Saturday then play Pro on Sunday?

Brice, it could be done as Lee says:
Hey flesner, use your exemption pay a lower fee, play advanced on Saturday, then move up and play open on sunday
48 ace runs on Saturday
48 birdies on sunday
Via the PDGA Amnesty policy, any professional whom choses to drop back down to Am status may do so, no questions asked. You must renew your PDGA membership as an Am for 2007 . As long as you do not cash prior to the PIO, you could play Advanced on Saturday, and Pro on Sunday.
Sneaky isnt it !
How many pro vultures are out there?

I am pretty sure you have to renew before 2007 as an am though...16 days

Duh!
Any Pro player wishing to return to Amateur status may do so no questions asked between now and the end of 2006. Your 2007 Am renewal must be received by December 31, 2006 in order to take advantage of this amnesty. After January 1, 2007 anyone wishing to reclassify from Pro to Am will once again be subject to a petition process.
he would have to register before Jan 1st ( you can register whenever for 2007 but amnesty must be done by a certain timeframe)..he couldn't play the PIO, not take cash and then register later - DUH

Just messing with you also Flesh..just hate to see you dropping for plastic..you do well in Pro and should stay there, but I definately don't blame you for registering cheaper..that was a PDGA foul...and it will cost them a lot in renewals if people take advantage of it..

On a completely different topic. I have tentative approval (the only reason they won't approve is if there is too much limb and underbrush removal and there is none of that with this layout) to use a layout on the north side of the tracks at Z Boaz for the 2nd course during the Z Boaz Open. it is looking pretty sweet so far. It will include an Island hole from an elevated tee. In is safe out is retee.

That's a BS idea...sinking pretty low - ether you're a pro or am. Play for the cash or play for a trophy. :p
WOW-Do y'all have any self respect? Do ya completely lack Confidence??
Are ya just trying to get more chances at the ace runs???
Do you look for ways to "win by rulebook"?

Unfortunately it would be miss-interpreted as me being an ******* and many would stay away around here. It is not an issue of them being inconsiderate and waiting until the morning of the event to see if it might rain, but it is an issue of me being a diq for pushing players into making a decision. No matter how many times I explain that the timely operation of an event is directly related to the number of players that come up and expect to be greeted with a smile and a welcome at 10 minutes to meeting time with a frantic "can I still get in?". Many refuse to function in any other manner. That is followed immediately with "Mace just can't get an event started on time", when in reality it is player X, Y, and Z that can't get to the park any sooner than the last minute to sign up. It is really all my fault.

Here is the info for the remaing events in the series.
NTS Event #3 Poison Ivy Open January 6-7, 2007 at Bear Creek in Grapevine. This event started as a small winter event at Bear Creek and this year it will become a full grown event. We are forced to split this event into two days, Rec and Advanced will play on Saturday, with the Intermediate and Open Divisions playing on Sunday. Everyone will play 2 rounds of 21, including the short tees one round and the long tees the other. This event drew 145 players last year, and we had to turn away at least 10 more. With an ace pot that starts at $1706 before anyone has signed up, it will certainly exceed those numbers this year. There will be pick your partner doubles on Friday at 3pm. The players meeting will be at 8:30 am on both days. (PDGA C-tier) Jr $25 Rec $30 Int $35 All Adv $40 All Open $60
NTS Event #4 The Big Show @ Cedar Hill on February 3-4, 2007. This will be the opening event of The 2006 edition of The Big Show. This event will take place at the beautiful 36-hole Lester Lorch Park In Cedar Hill TX. It will host all divisions. This is a 72-hole two-day event. Everyone will play The Coyote and The Beaver twice. Friday Pick Doubles flex between 3pm and 4pm. (PDGA B-tier) Jr $25 Rec $30 Int $40 All Adv $50 All Open $60
The Big Show Hockey Outing Tuesday February 6, 2007. Dallas Stars VS Minnesota Wild @ 7:30pm. The tickets will be very affordable in the upper balcony. Minimum of 25 tickets available, first paid first served. If you are a hockey fan you dont want to miss this. Price is TBA.
Event #5 The Big Show Midweek Event on Wednesday Feb 7 Location TBA.
(C-tier) All Am Divisions $35 All Open Divisions $50
The Big Show Clinic. This event will take place at Bear Creek Park on Thursday February 8. This will be one of the highlights of The Big Show 2006. Two Time World and US Disc Golf Champion Barry Schultz will be on hand as well as many other top disc golfers to work with you on your game. There will be two sessions, mid day and late afternoon. This will be your best opportunity to interact with some of the games best players live and in person. It will take place at Bear Creek in Grapevine. The best thing is that its FREE.
Event #6 The 6th Z Boaz Open on Feb 10-11, 2007. This event will be the first big event of the year in the DFW Area. The anchor event of The Big Show, this year will see the return of all divisions on the same weekend. It has not been finalized yet but we will use either the 18-Hole Layout at Weatherford or an 18-Hole Layout on the north side of the train tracks. That will be determined in the coming weeks. Friday Pick Doubles flex between 3pm and 4pm. This event will include the Z Boaz Format Skins Match for the Top 4 Open women and men to close The Big Show in grand fashion. (PDGA A-tier for all divisions) Jr $30 Rec $35 Int $50 All Adv $65 Open GM $80 Open Master $90 Open Men and Women $100.
Event #7 Match Play @ Cedar Hill Saturday March 10. This will be a non-elimination format like last season. Everyone will play six 6-hole matches for points and the top points getter in the division will be the winner. Match play is an incredibly fun format. This 36-hole one-day event will host all divisions. Friday Pick Doubles at 3pm (un-sanctioned) Jr $25 Rec $30 Int $35 All Adv $40 All Open $45
Event #8 Crawford Park Saturday April 14. Crawford Park is well on its way to being the best course in Dallas. It is an amazing piece of property that will some day be home to as many as 4 courses. It was debuted on The DFW Food Drive Series in 2005. This 36-hole one-day event will host all divisions. Friday Pick Doubles at 6pm (PDGA C-tier) Jr $25 Rec $30 Int $35 All Adv $40 All Open $45
Event #9 Paul Giles Memorial April 28-29. This 72-hole 2-day event will host all divisions. It will take place at Cain Park In Athens Texas. Friday Pick Doubles flex between 5pm and 6pm. Everyone will play 3 24-hole rounds. (B-tier) Jr $25 Rec $30 Int $40 All Adv $50 All Open $60
Event #9 A to Z Doubles The Vet and Z Boaz May 12-13. This 72-hole 2-day event will host all divisions. It will take place at Veterans Park in Arlington and Z Boaz Park in Ft Worth. The formats will be Best Shot, Alternate, Team Score, and the Evil Format (best, alternate, and worst). (B-tier) Rec & Jr $60 Int $80 All Adv $100 All Open $130 (per team)
Event #10 North Texas Series Final Skins Match Saturday September 8 @ Z Boaz. This 36-hole one-day event will host all divisions, and will have a unique format as well. First if you have qualified by playing 5 of the first 10 series events your entry fee will be the ace pot and your charity donation. Everyone will play for seeding in his or her division by score in the first round. The payout will be figured for each division and adjusted to the number of cards for that division. For instance: if there are 12 players in a division with 3 cards in the 2nd round. The first place value will go to the first card and be divided by 18 to determine the skins value per hole. The second place value will go to the 2nd card, 3rd the to the third card and so on. This makes it possible for everyone on every card to cash at this event. (un-sanctioned) Jr $25 Rec $30 Int $35 All Adv $40 All Open $45

I also think this a bad idea, but I guess you cant get mad at people for trying to make a buck if the rules allow this crap. Is this going to affect how many people can register if people are playing both days? Also if you play both days do you get rated PDGA points for it?

You would earn ratings both days. You would also earn points both days. But points earned in Am divisions are tracked as a separate total from points earned in Pro divisions.

Some things to consider...
This is from the PDGA: (condensed)
A player relinquishes amateur status by competing in a PDGA Tour event and accepting prize money (CASH) based on place of finish. A player also relinquishes amatuer status by accepting prizes in lieu of prize money by placing in a professional division at a PDGA event.
SooooooooooHave you ever cashed?
Are you signing up as an am?
If you answer yes to the two questions above you are a loser.
Integrity is not mentioned in the rule booktoo bad.
Definitions:
Integrity - adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty. (Antonyms 1. dishonesty)
Place - to earn a specified standing with relation to others
Amateur - 1) A person who engages in a study, sport, or other activity for pleasure rather than for financial benefit or professional reasons.
2) an athlete who has never competed for payment or for a monetary prize.
Professional - undertaken or engaged in as a means of livelihood or for gain
There is also nothing in the rules that state someone (me) cannot stroll through a public park (Bear Branch) on a Saturday (Jan. 6th) and yell LOSER just as a PDGA tournament player (you) is attempting to take a shot.
Brian...what are the chances these three "amateurs" can be randomly placed on he same card on Sat.?

Brian,
Unfortunately the change to split the PIO into 2 days has eliminated 8 of us (2 - MPM, 2 - MM1, 2 - MA3 and 2 - MJ1) from coming down from Okie land to be there. We were traveling together and none of us wanted to be there and not play 1 day. A couple of us (the drivers - MPM's) were not able to be there on Sunday, the day we were supposed to play.
I wish you all the best and hope to see you at one of the Big Show events.

Anybody can take a comment from another thread , take it out of context, and throw it on the board.

With the size of the ace pot, and the short nature of BC, I believe that it could fill both days.

It is really getting deep. I find it very interesting how worked up many of you get on here and not one of you have anything to say to Alex' direct hit on you and your choices. I personally think it is a BS solution to an ongoing problem, people move up to open and stop playing for various reasons. But that is what I expect from the PDGA. A weak poorly thought out decision that only goes half way to solving a problem that needs attention, wait we could just sweep it under the rug and maybe know one will notice that big lump we keep stumbling over. Eventually the problem will go away.....is that lump still there.....what was that I stumbled over.....again.

One more thing, I have had several contacts about ladies divisions but no pre-reg.
Here are some pertinent details: The break down on divisions per day also applies to the ladies meaning all Advanced divisions men's and women's will play on Saturday. All open Divisions including men's, women's and age protected divisions will play on Sunday. The same applies to all divisions and genders.
As I stated above there are several women that have expressed interest in playing but they are waiting to see if the re is any interest, and or will they have a division to play. The answer is sign up and more will do so in the following days. I will do as much as I can to accommodate you ladies within reason.
Also since it hasn't been asked recently, all ace's from both days will split. If you play Saturday and you have to leave I will mail you your share.
So again I ask you Have you signed up yet? (http://www.maceman.com/cgi-bin/agora.cgi?product=Registration)

One more thing, I have had several contacts about ladies divisions but no pre-reg.
I signed up earlier today... so there's at least one!

Well everything seems to change year by year. 1st year was 2 rounds of 18, 2nd was 2 rounds of 21 and the 3rd was 2 rounds of 24. It would be nice to play the course as it lies, 18 holes. I know that will never happen again though.

its the amount of disc golfers, the more holes the more discs being spining in the air /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I will have to agree to disagree with that statement. Not every TD feels the need to expand the course for more "players". To each his own, Not talkin down about Brian on this matter thats just my 2 cents.
For sure the event will be a 21 hole format. Possibly 24.
This course has major flow issues, with the amount of people that will play this event every year.
IMO- It should play 24 hole format, with a cap of 90 per day. That puts cards of 5 together, with 6 extra holes to assist in flow

Happy New Year Everyone!!
Sorry for the delay on posting the list as it stands.
If you signed up on my site and you don't see you name on here let me know. If you got a black screen your transaction didn't complete. We are working this out. If this is you please let me know as soon as you can.
I would like to point out that the most demanding division has the least number of players pre-registered. Open players this is a first come first served situation. If the Intermediate division fills that day and you are not in you are going to be disappointed.

Sadly you'll probably be taking me off of that list.
I gave myself an unexpected belated Xmas present today (12/30), i reinjured my adductor muscle . If someone had a camera rolling it would have made AFV (Americas funniest videos) You've seen the clips year after year. You know, the one's with step stools, christmas trees, falling people, and mass destruction. Yeppers. Ouch!

The 12th hole will be the only problem hole. You have a creek that you have to cross with about a 15' climb to get out of.

#9 is not cart friendly, but you can take a long walk or carry your cart. The rest of the course is fine.
I will have my jogger with me.
