I think for the saftey of everyone else, you guys should be OFF of the roads by 4:20ish. Tournaments make you "tired." Driving "tired" can be hazardous.

You know MaceMan's only sport besides disc golf and Kansas Tumbleweed races is Hockey :D

Therefore, he don't care much bout dat der Football thang

Last year, I suggested having the awards sponsored at a local watering hole. Seems to make too much sense to bring in 100 thirsty disc golfers. We could take over some little dive tavern and make them real happy.

I might accept that mission if it were going to be the z-boaz open on superbowl sunday . Cedar Hill, that is a tall order. There are not many commercial establishments around that venue. It is all residential. That part of town might actually be DRY..... Perhaps you should speak with Brian Lamaroux, he would know better than I.

I do like the idea of hosting awards @ a local watering hole , but the logistics of an operation such as that would be a nightmare.

F-That, lets pitch in and get a tv out @ the event.
We could put our hands on that 103 inch LCD, it is only a couple of 10's of thousands of dollars. Chump change for all us big ballin' disc golfers. :D

rent a big screen from Rent A Center -save a lot of money. When I worked there we would deliver big screens for weekend only functions. I think you have to pay for a week but its not that much.

Jan 19 2007, 02:36 PM
The Mid-week will be at The Vet. It has nothing to do with tee's and everything to do with being some what central in the Metroplex. There is not really a better alternative at this point. I will relax the meeting time to 10 am so that traffic is not an issue getting to the course in time.

As for the time frame for Cedar Hill and the "Let Down Bowl", who cares about the Super Bowl? When was the last time that was even a game? The most exciting thing to come from the Super Bowl in the last several was Janet Jackson and that was not that exciting, it didn't suck but it wasn't that exciting.

I have one question are you a participant or a spectator? If your a spectator then get a DVR.

As for the technical difficulties at the PIO, we are buying a new printer before Cedar Hill this should solve all the problems we had. If you can do it better then step up. Otherwise sign up and take your place on the other side of the table, and have a good time while you are here. Do you really think that I want to keep you here asking things like......are you almost ready, can I get my money now, I need cash now, you don't understand I have to..... the answer to that is no. I want to get things under way and over with in a timely fashion. If you are leaving late than I am leaving later than that, and I want to get home just like all of you.

And one more thing, please show some consideration for the staff and all of the players. Every time you come up to me and get me to stop what I am doing at that point of the day you are not speeding up anything. You will not get your payout before everyone else, but you will delay everything a little more for everyone else. It has always bothered me how if there was another round of golf players would be right there as long as it takes, but after that last putt drops all many people can think about is I GOTTA GO. It is simply amazing how nothing else matters to some players except getting out of there as soon as the last putt drops. There are several parts to an event. The awards are one of the parts that is very important because that is when the payout is given. I do not care what your story is you will not be paid early. You will be paid at or after the awards not before, and if that doesn't fit into your plans then you need to see me at lunch to let me know how you would like to handle it from there.

Payout will be checks for Cedar Hill and Z Boaz, so if you are in the Open Divisions and you gotta go I will mail your check to you.

So in answer to your question, as always I will do everything in my power to get things done in a timely manor. If that does not happen then rest assured that it is beyond my control, and no matter how much you want to blame me for the difficulties that lead to the delay it is not what I would choose.

this is a pimp idea. It might not float at cedar hill but at z- boaz it would be easy to pull off. Fox and Hound is only one exit down from z-boaz and it is plenty big for all the people that would come out.

Don't forget that mace is the crown prince of discgolf, runs on macetime and is the ruler of maceland. Please show us mercy. Let the poor people of maceland get drunk at The fox and hound and not bother sir macealot with any of their meaningless and trivial questions.

A td is required to mail you a check if you have to leave before awards. Of course he can charge you a shipping and handling fee not to exceed 10% of the check. (or something like that)

Looks like Cedar Hill and ZBoaz are out for me. I should make the midweek event, but my new asst manager just hit me with needing Cedar HIll weekend off. That, and I have lost 5 drivers in the last month.

FYI, hole 13 on the Beaver course has a new pin location. Right now, there are baskets in both sleeves because the first lock is not working. The basket used during the Big Show will be the new one. It is there now so people can be practicing it. The people that played it today really liked it.

Also, we will probably be using the new sleeve on Hole 7 on the Beaver course during the tournament as well. That basket should be moved this week.

Brian

P.S. Loved Jay's idea about the watering hole. If the Big Show returns next year and is on Super Bowl weekend, I'll see what can be done. I'm friends with a couple of members of the Chamber of Commerce and they'd probably like that.

Well some have suggested it has to do with credit cards, but I believe it is card readers for old computer systems. Many years ago, if you wanted to run a program, you had to put the code on key punch cards, create a title card called a JCL card and submit to a computer for entry via a card reader. :p

Just my opinion, but this is way to early to be predicting the weather for next weekend. Additionally, Accuweather.com tends to be more accurate than the other big forecasting groups. They were the only group that predicted the hurricane would go east of Houston, several years back, while everyone else said west or over, so I tend to put more stock in Accuweather, though they all lie.

Ok I am close to being caught up, here is the pre-reg so far for Cedar Hill (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6475#Open) . Here is the pre-reg so far for Z Boaz (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6474) , and one person that obviously doesn't really fit in has signed up for all three....anyone want to guess who he is??? I am just kidding about the doesn't fit in part :D:D, he is just more on the ball than anyone else at this point.

SO before you freak out, start sending alarmed email, and or blowing up the phone because your name is not on the list please read on. As many of you know we have been having problems with online registration. We are very close to solving the problem, in fact it should be solved sometime later today or in the morning. The black screen that appears actually has a message for you telling you that there is something wrong with your transaction. A large part of the problem is that the message is also black. So if you are attempting to sign up online and you get the black screen do a control A and that will highlight the text and you can read what is wrong with your transaction. Then you can go back and correct it.

If you signed up already and didn't receive an email confirmation from Brandon then your transaction didn't go through and your card has not been charged. Please go back and try again. Rest assured that we will not charge you double, if you didn't get the confirmation we did not get your order/entry. You can confirm this by checking your online bank statement or credit card statement. If everything is successful with your entry we receive your transaction automatically, but we still have to manually capture the funds from your card or account. So if we see your transaction more than once we will only charge it once.

Sorry for the problems but they are well on their way to being solved. Thanks for your patience.

lauranovice
Feb 01 2007, 11:40 AM
While I am not Maceman, I have heard from both Brians, BL & Mace, that the sandwiches will be offered again this year at Cedar Hill.
However, at Z-Boaz, Don Q is going to cater. He was asking me last night if I thought people may be getting tired of Bar-b-que, hamburgers, and hot dogs. He wanted to know if I thought people would be interested in pasta. Let me/us know what you think. The issue of some vegetarian disc golfers came up at VPO.

those were my thoughts exactly. ... well, about pasta not being a good idea for between rounds.
I usually prefer a light lunch, protein to stay with me throughout the next round, but still light.
Pasta is good for dinner (that sleep-inducing and delayed energy for 12 hours later thing), but between rounds a sandwich and some fruit is best for me. I just was not sure how you guys felt.

Mace, you may want to check the information for Robbie, otherwise with that rating, I think he is going to want to bag down in intermediate.

It will be well marked but having it set up on Friday is a tall order. It seams that I remember Lee telling me that he could get a crew togeather to handle the course set up and removal each day. We may be able to pull that off but I will need a lot of help to make it happen.

That being said I will be in need of 19 baskets for the Z Boaz Open.

The next update for Cedar Hill will take it over 90!!

I can bring one. I'll also have an extra at Cedar Hill.

Though i won't be playing, you can use the 2 in my backyard. They are from that other brand, you know the yellow kind that needs inner-chains(sold separately) to be good. ....and yes, they both have inner-chains. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif There's a skill-shot back there too if you're desperate.

Mace - Ben Cole (MA2) will not be able to play this weekend due to a death in the family. I think he is going to try to give you a call but he is on his way to PA.

He wanted to see about rolling his entry over to the Z-Boaz tourney instead.
