Looking great for starters. Like the Barry interview on Dineen. Couple corrections: Accommodations has two m's and on the Schedule page your final day is Saturday, July 28 not 29. Go team Wisconsin for both Am & Pro Worlds back-to-back in 2007!

Hey everyone!

As mentioned above the site is up and running. Look for updates to the site and also in the next Disc Golf Magazine.

We have one new course in and another on the way. November 11th we will see the return of a disc golf course at Brown Deer Park. As always - helpers are welcome for that install.

Also - the PRIMARY HOST HOTEL is the LaQuinta. Call them today and reserve your room. They will go fast. The quicker we can get to our minimum number reserved the quicker they will open even more rooms to us! The number is: 414.535.1300. Use disc golf as the reservation code.

We are also going to have an additional hotel just four exits south. This hotel will cost about $30 more but has many more opportunities for shopping and places to eat. Later I'll post more info about that hotel and it's reservation code.

Looking forward to seeing you guys at Am Worlds in Milwaukee!

i see brown deer, dineen, and dretzka as the sites for worlds.

just those three? any more?

will they be used yearround until amworlds or will they be "removed" for a certain time period? - if so, when?

Two courses planned at Dretzka.

Dretzka will likely be pulled for the winter (in December) but we'll probably keep Dineen and Brown Deer in the ground (they may or may not get pulled for the spring thaw) that is yet to be determined.

Can you only play by invitation or can I sign up?

Nov 06 2006, 04:42 PM
Dizk - invitation will be first (mailed out to qualified competitors) - then there's a sign up for 'wait list' sometime march '07? correct me if i'm wrong - information will come up on the front page of www.pdga.com (http://www.pdga.com) on the right column - near the "player ratings" and etc.

What is the payment situation on the hotel? Do we have to pay any deposit up front? They weren't real clear on that early last year and I got burned a little. Nothing big, got it all worked out over time.

Jroc
Nov 07 2006, 12:07 PM
Dito here....but, the hotel in Tulsa did a fine job of clearing everything up. :D That information should be up front to avoid what happened last year.

discglfr
Nov 08 2006, 01:57 AM
It should be a standard reservation procedure which means they will hold your reservation with a credit card once you call in. I could double check all of those details but nothing was said so I assumed it was a normal reservation process.

I did speak to them yesterday and they said that nearly 1/5th of the rooms are already booked for the event. Again, the host hotel will go quickly and then we'll direct everyone to the secondary hotel. The second one is about 10 minutes further from the courses but has much better shopping, dinning, and entertainment options.

call the number for the hotel - I don't believe the automated booking system will work for this. It does say on the Am Worlds web site that you need to call the hotel directly and not just La Quinta's national number.

Please CALL the hotels for the reservations. Both of them said they would rather speak to people versus trusting the online reservation systems.

414.535.1300 for the 55 dollar rooms - La Quinta
414.778.0333 for the 85 dollar rooms - Holiday Inn Express

Just tonight I added the information for the secondary hotel. It's all on the 2007 Am Worlds (http://www.2007amworlds.com) website. Check it out and call in!

If you wish to have something other than a double while staying at the Holiday Inn Express just ask to speak with Aaron and he'll hook up a discounted rate on other styles of rooms. They have some adjoining rooms at that hotel just as an FYI.

Terry, which hotel will host the flymart, and have the after round events?

ck34
Nov 11 2006, 08:12 AM
Unless plans have changed, I believe the Flymart and banquet will not be at a host hotel but at a huge county facility south of town.

discglfr
Nov 11 2006, 08:46 AM
Chuck is correct that the flymart will not be at EITHER place. Instead, we'll be using a 55,000 square foot indoor field house. Heck we play indoor disc golf in here because this place is so large!

Remember last year and how small the booths were and there were people scattered everywhere? Well, that will be no problems this year with the place we're using. Vendors, gear up because you will have plenty of space this year.

I can say that the plan for the official Am Worlds merch store will likey be at the LaQuinta. Again, the difference in price comes down to the "quality" of the exits. Holiday Inn has 10 times more places to eat, places to hang out, and shopping. LaQuinta is a few minutes closer to the parks with much less to do off that exit.

So whom can describe the courses for Am Worlds?? I know a couple are not even in the ground yet. Tight , Open, Long , Short, in the woods, out of the woods, elevation ???????? I am curious what I need to start practicing for......... I wish I could make it up there before the tournament, but that is a long drive for this Texas boy!

widiscgolf
Nov 15 2006, 11:04 AM
Dretzka Park Course:

The course has 18 permanent holes with short and long pads. It has variety of 3 to 4 pin placements per hole; which can switch up holes from straight up to dogleg left or dogleg right. The average distances can range from 250 to 400 feet based on pin placements. I believe the course distance range is 5000 to 7500 feet. It has a variety of wooded holes along with some open holes scatter with trees. Has slight elevation change but mainly flat. I consider this a utility course with its canning ability to be more difficult than you think.

Course is well maintained by the county and the GLDGC. It has trash cans, benches and sweet tee signs per hole.

Keep in mind this course was host of the Rumbletown Classic which was a SuperTour Stop at one point.

Dineen Park Course,

This is a very scenic 18 hole course. Remember this use to be a ball golf course; so it has a variety of elevated holes with some tricky tee offs between trees. It has room for error with long fairways that are open. The course averages 330+ feet with 2 pin positions per hole. There are about 10 to 11 holes ranging from 330 to 500 feet. There is river/creek along some holes with a large pond also. Keep in mind there probably will be some minor changes to the course by the time worlds comes to town.

This is an excellent course for the county and for the upcoming worlds event!!

Josh has done a pretty good job explaining a few of the courses.

I played in 4 Am Worlds and 7 Pro Worlds (I'm currently 28) and there is one piece of advice I can give to everyone! PRACTICE YOUR PUTTING. Regardless of the terrain, distance, elevation, or any other course component, you'll want to be a good putter. If you were to read any tip from any world champion you'd find that most mention just how much putting practice they put in leading up to worlds.

To address the courses I'll give a few generalities.

First off, these will not be the longest courses ever seen at an Am Worlds. At the same time, they will not be the shortest. If you put all of the course length on a spectrum from 1 to 5 with one being short and five being long I think you'd give the courses a 3.5 to 4 overall.

Secondly, there will be some wooded shots mixed in with some mildly open holes. Very few holes will have a completely wide open fairway with no obstacles. Wisconsin has lots of trees and we try to make use of them wherever we can. Each one of the courses will have a variety of somewhat wooded and somewhat open. None of the 4 courses are all wooded or all open. They all provide a mix.

Lastly, the elevation will be slight. We try to make use of the hills wherever possible but it won't be anything like playing at the Snow Bowl in Arizona. Again, 1 to 5 scale I'd say they will be more like a 2 or 2.5 with 5 being VERY hilly.

We will certainly do everything we can to get pictures both online and in upcoming articles. We will have a full course preview article in at least 1 (if not 2 or more) of the main magazines. Please be patient because as some have said, the courses are just now going in the ground.

All courses will undergo warm up tournaments and scoring analysis. That's the biggest reason why it's so hard to say this or that is set in stone because we'll continue to tweak things and make them better over the next 8 months.

I hope all of this helps. I also hope to have an FAQ published to the Am Worlds Webpage (http://www.2007amworlds.com) in the next week and that will also help answer common questions. Please don't delay in booking your hotels though! That info is all on the website.

Depending on the setup at Dretzka this course can play pretty darn tough or pretty easy. I'm assuming Terry won't be taking it easy on you guys. Dretzka is a fun course and very tough from the longs no matter where the pins are located.

Here are the results from this years Milwaukee Open in a somewhat easy setup. The 1st Round for Pro was the temp course and the 2nd was the permanent course short tees. Advanced played the permanent 1st then temp 2nd. I have no idea if the temp course will be the same. http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=5632#Open

In 2005 the classic placements were played all 3 rounds. First round long tees, 2nd short, then long 3rd. This was a much tougher setup.
http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=4765#Advanced

I was able to get out to Dineen a couple of weeks ago. I would consider it to be a more open long course with only a few tough par holes. I would compare it to 04 temp course at DMAC in Des Moines but without the water and shorter. If you stay clean and pick up the easier birdies you can shoot -2 to -4 without a big arm. If the wind picks up this course will play difficult. I would not be surprised to see double digits under par either.

widiscgolf
Nov 15 2006, 03:12 PM
Brett this years GMO Pro/Adv played the same times and setup. The Am/Jr played opposite of us. We played the temp course first and the second round we played the permanent 18 from the short pads.

Get it RIGHT!!! Just kidding. hehe

Trust me I know I shot my best rated round ever that day on the permanent course.

From what I have been hearing I would say Dretzka will not be set to easy that's for sure.

We made suggestions on the pin settings for Dretzka that might produce the best scoring swings for Advanced when Gentry and I visited for the review in September. Terry took notes and might be able to share those. That's not to say that these couldn't be changed based on actual scoring info when these layouts are tested next spring. Most of the new long pin settings at Brown Deer were intended for tournament play not daily play. So I would expect to see most if not all of those for Worlds once they get tested next spring.

Nov 15 2006, 04:37 PM
Well, chuck if you are looking for a " fresh " opinion, I am more than willing for you to fly me up there and give you my " outsider looking in " analysis. Hint, Hint..... :D:D:D

Nov 15 2006, 04:39 PM
The one thing I want the entire Am Worlds staff and volunteers to be very careful of is giving out information that will likely change or be altered.

As Chuck and I pointed out earlier, things will likely be slightly altered and modified between now and next July. That goes for the courses and for the event as a whole. I'd hate to publish today that there is a player's party on night X when it really might happen on night Y. I also can't confirm which pin hole 8 of your 3rd course which is your 5th round, will be located. Similarly, schedules need to be worked out regarding field events, additional entertainment and all other weekly activities.

I can update this thread by saying good, quality, well-rounded courses will be played, the player's packs will be awesome, and a fun time should be had by all. Don't delay on reserving your rooms! That info isn't changing!

Thanks,

Nov 15 2006, 04:44 PM

Camping in the Milwaukee Metro area isn't nearly as popular as some might think. As we continue to work with various campgrounds we'll get information posted here and on the Am Worlds website.

As Josh pointed out earlier, you will likely have to drive at least 20 to 30 minutes before you find any camping.

Temperature in late July will likely be in the mid 80's to low 90's. Not too much rainfall but certainly a chance for high humidity.

This Weather.com analysis (http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/vacationplanner/wxclimatology/monthly/graph/53211?from=36hr_bottomnav_vacation) shows normal highs around 81 with normal lows around 63. Remember that's near the Lake most likely so it's a tad higher than that.

AM Worlds, is one fun week. It will be nice to see those whom we met last year. Wisconson, Oklahoma did a great job, and was very much on point. It will be a hard act to follow. I would contact Tulsa disc golf and ask questions. This almost sounds like were passing a torch, IDEA!, Weather in Wisconson looks like a much needed improvement over Okla weather, that was quite warm.
Here we come.

Thanks for the advice. I have been in touch with the PDGA, Oklahoma, '05 Am Worlds, '05 Pro Worlds, '06 USDGC, '05 & '06 USWDGC, played in 11 Worlds myself, Marshaled half a dozen Majors, and have run probably well over 100 tournaments. I'm only 28 but trust me ... all eyes are on me and the rest of the 2007 Am Worlds staff this year so we hope to make it the best Am Worlds possible.

Keep in mind Iowa hosted the 2004 Pro/Am/Jr Worlds. Over 900+ players and 12 courses I believe.

I can say that every person I had talked to about this event had nothing be praise on how awesome the event was and how perfect the staff ran it.

That is and will be a tough act to follow; but knowing Terry and his staff they will have it covered and provide an awesome major event for us!!

The way I see it all past world events whether it be Pro or Am are templates for future world events.

Keep in mind as this event gets closer in the months to come there will be updates posted here and on the website. Terry is on top of it!! Not only is he our State Coordinator but disc golf is his full time job in life. He will do his very best to provide an outstanding event for all to enjoy!!

Bigrock,

The PDGA handles all of the invites and the waiting list details. Typically that means that the first wave of invites go out sometime around March. As Chappy just pointed out (while I was preparing this) it looks like they were ready by Feb this past year. Don't hold them to that date though!

Remember - first the PDGA has to wait for all the this year's events to be over with. Then they have to tabulate everyone's points. Then they have to wait for dozens of delinquent TDs to get their stuff in. Then they have to figure out just how many people can fit into the various World Championships. Then they have to do the math to figure out whom to invite in the first wave, the second wave, etc. It's a bunch of work and I'm really glad that the PDGA handles it and not the staff of the Worlds.

Actually, February 7 this year was the earliest I remember the list of invites getting those out. It seems like it used to be more around Feb 21-March 1 somewhere. The earlier release date I'm sure has to do with more and more events getting stuff in on time....the electronic age is finally here, and TDs have finally embraced it. I know I was still punching in a lot of box scores from written sheets 3-4 years ago.

I believe last year was the first year when all reports eventually got turned in, that needed to be submitted for points and ratings, by the Feb 1 deadline. So, Hoeniger really busted it to get the invites posted by Feb 7th if that's when it was. Then, since the Summit meeting at the Memorial in early March involves a lot of effort, the mailed invites didn't go out until late March. This spring the Summit is in April at the HOF Classic NT in Georgia. So, I expect the mailed invites might be mailed earlier than late March as long as all of the necessary info has been compiled for the packets by then.

I think this is the key item, Chuck. They publish the list as early as possible, so people can start making travel plans. A lot of times, the stuff for the confirmation packages isn't ready for mailing by Feb. 7, so the actual invites don't go out until a few weeks later. I think Dave Gentry did all these last year, and will compile the list of invitees again this year.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS:

The 2007 Am Worlds is in desperate need of some great artwork. We are currently looking for both Inn Color and line art for the event.

Some compensation will be arranged if we use your design(s). Please send me an terry@prodiscgolfer.com if you would like to submit ideas or actual stamps. Having some background about the city / state (Milwaukee - Wisconsin) would be helpful for you probably but we just want good art. Cruising around Visit Milwaukee (http://visitmilwaukee.org/) might jump start an idea or two.

This is your chance to have thousands of people see what YOU can do artistically. Don't be shy. I'm graphically retarded so everything looks good to me :)

The 2007 Am Worlds Staff is proud to give you another option this year for traveling to Milwaukee for the Worlds! We have secured Funjet Vacations as a sponsor for the event. Funjet Vacations is the flagship brand of the Mark Travel Corporation headquartered in Milwaukee. Operating for more than 30 years, Funjet Vacations specializes in flexible, personalized vacations for individuals and groups via nonstop charters and scheduled airlines. Travelers can choose from land-only or air inclusive vacations and a wide variety of optional components such as tours, attractions and sporting events.
We have secured a 10% off promotional code exclusive to disc golfers for departures 7/14/2007 through 7/31/2007 into Mitchell International Airport (MKE) This promotional code will be good for your package airfare from anywhere in the United States and hotel stay while in Milwaukee.
This promotional code is active as of 9:00AM 12/11/2006 and you will have until 7/14/2007 to use this promotional code. The promotional code is called 07AMWORLDS
Please visit www.funjet.com (http://www.funjet.com) to book your package deal as this promotional code is only valid on www.funjet.com (http://www.funjet.com)
As part of the 2007 Am Worlds Tournament Direction staff, and as part of the Funjet Vacations Marketing Department, I am very proud and excited to offer disc golfers this awesome opportunity. I just price tested a Am Worlds package, on Funjet Vacations (http://www.funjet.com) , using the promotion code created for Disc Golfers only, and came up with a savings of over $110 on a flight/hotel package from Dallas to Milwaukee. This is just one example of how much you could save by booking with Funjet.
If you are in need of flight/hotel for the week, this may be a great option for you!

If you could show me how to book a flight from the Bay Area (SFO, OAK, SJO) to Milwaukee through that site, I'd be glad to get a quote from them. Unfortunately, when I enter SFO as my Departure city, MKE is not one of the available Destination cities.

If I was heading to Am Worlds in WI, I would book through the sponsor Funjet no question.

I checked there prices for Las Vegas before I even posted anything. They were priced higher, mostly because they only fly DFW to/from LAS on mondays and Fridays. I am only staying 3 nights, therefore the deal I got on Orbitz was $100 cheaper for the same motel. (total price)

uwmdiscgolfer
Dec 29 2006, 02:06 AM
If you go to the site, Funjet.com, and enter SFO as your depart city, and MKE as your destination, you should get some flight options with hotel packages. I just tried it and it gave me some options on delta and American. They all have one stop in ATL, SLC or STL, so there is no non-stops from there. I think this is a great option for someone like yourself coming from the west coast, or anyone one that is too far away to drive
I am more then willing to help anyone if you have any concerns or questions about your options with funjet.
Also, if you call in for your reservation, Funjet will price match any price you get.
If anyone has any questions, i will continue to check this board and answer anything i can to make this option work for any AM worlds participant.

Thanks

Funjet is not only a charter company, as we offer many domestic packages besides your charter planes. We, as Funjet, have many contracts with your major airlines like American, United, Delta etc to offer any flight that your online travel site would offer.
It is true that we specialize in Mexico and Caribbean vacations, but we also try to have the widest plethora of options that we can in order to meet anyones needs.
Thanks

Not to worry....invites will be sent out at the first of the year. Around March, a waitlist starts.... Last year got close, but there has yet to be a waitlist player who does not get invited to an AM Worlds. Stay tuned to PDGA.com and the PDGA announcments thread here on the message board. All the instructions and explinations will be easily accessable well in advance of AM Worlds.

Here is what I can say ... it will not be the same as the temp course from the 2006 GMO.

The plan is for the club to put 9 more holes in permanently at Dretzka (similar to the typical temp holes we play after 11). Then just for the event we'll have 9 more temp holes for Worlds. That means 27 permanent holes at Dretzka which will be expanded to (2) 18-hole courses for Am Worlds (and this year's GMO).

I just looked up the host hotel and found there is no pool there. Staying in a hotel for a week with two youngsters at the Worlds, there are many occassions when there is too little time to go out, but too much time to sit in the room watching TV and staring at one another. During these times, the pool is an excellent way for the kids to enjoy themselves, not to mention that I enjoy hanging out there myself

On the other hand, there is usually enough unique going on at the host hotel that it is convenient to be there instead of somewhere else. The camaraderie of being in same hotel with many of the other participants is also part of the good time.

This presents a dilemma. I am aware that a Hampton Inn with a pool is "just around the corner". Is this an easy walk from one hotel to the other? If so, I'm wondering if any other parents would like to make this the unofficial Junior Worlds place to stay. This way the youngsters and parents could have fun together hanging out around the pool as we did in Tulsa, Flagstaff, etc.

I'd appreciate any suggestions from local folks, tour staff, other players, etc.

discglfr
Dec 31 2006, 05:46 PM
David,

You are exactly right about the host hotel(s) not having a pool. Every piece of data we have gathered in recent years shows that disc golfers have their pocket books in mind above everything else when it comes to most of their traveling. That is the exact reason why we opted to go with 2 of the much lesser expensive hotels for the Am Worlds in Milwaukee.

You make EXCELLENT points about having little ones and keeping them entertained. Also, a dip in a pool can certainly be a picker upper and a refreshing way to relax after a day of intense summer golf. With that being said ... I will do my best to keep my eyes and ears open for other options. If you get a group together that wishes to look into another hotel please keep me in the loop.

If another option is found we will certainly be looking for that hotel to cut us a package deal and work with the Am Worlds. However, I caution everyone by saying that rates will likely be much higher if you venture outside of our 2 HOST hotels. I want everyone to have a great time when they come here so let me know if I can help in any other way. BTW - The Hampton Inn is about 2 blocks away and you have to cross a major intersection to get there but it is still very close!

uwmdiscgolfer
Jan 01 2007, 11:24 PM
Another option if traveling from NC could be using the Funjet Promotion code and booking a package that way. Then you have a few hotels to choose from and you can still get a discount. Like you stated, you enjoy the camaraderie of the disc golfers, but if having a pool is a key element in your hotel choice, then this may be a good option if you are flying.
Also, like terry stated, the host hotel will give you the best rates, and Milwaukee does not have a wide plethora of hotels to choose from, so the decision is solely on your shoulders.
If you would like further guidance, feel free to PM me and I will be glad to help.

Has there been any additional info about a location with a pool?

discglfr
Feb 14 2007, 12:59 PM
Great question.

I'm working on the final details regarding additional hotels. In fact, I'm meeting with another one today. I didn't want to post everything until we are all final but I'll throw some info out there:

Milwaukee is known as "The City of Festivals" and with that being said it's extremely tough to find inexpensive hotels during the summer months. The worst part is even if Am Worlds didn't use a single hotel they would still sell out almost every night of this summer. With that being said hotels simply come at a higher price point.

In the next few days I'll have an awesome chart provided that lays out the details for all of the hotels we are working with. Which ones have pools (indoors and out), which provide free breakfast, and which are closest to the courses. The first two that we advertised haven't come through with everything they have promised so that's why we're exploring other options in addition to them.

I can tell you this ... you will NOT be disappointed with ANY of the additional 3 or 4 hotels we are working with. All have pools and wireless internet. It's just a matter of working on the pricing with them.

Look for more on here soon. Also, we are working with the PDGA invite process to include as much of this information as possible.

Thanks!

I'll be there to get revenge on the 19 and under.

discglfr
Feb 15 2007, 01:10 AM
So I'd like to get back on track with the positive things regarding the host hotels.

First of all - hotels are tough to come by in Milwaukee but I have secured BLOCKED ROOMS and DISCOUNTED RATES at a total of 6 different hotels so far! Of course 2 or 3 of those will be main hotels but we're going to need a bunch with all of the people we're expecting.

Originally we planned for the LaQuinta on Hwy 45 and Silver Spring. Now I find out they are NOT renovating so I'm going to let people know that is not the best place to stay. It does have incredibly cheap rates BUT I'll just say that you'll get what you pay for there.

Just south of there is the Holiday Inn Express (Medical Center). That is a great hotel with a pretty darn good rate of $85 plus tax. They do not have a pool. They are located very close to a great mall and lots of great stores and places to eat. They are about 20 minutes from one course and then under 15 minutes to the other 3 courses. It's a great bang for your buck.

Then we have "the triangle". We're going to refer to these three hotels as "the triangle" because they are all within about 1 mile of one another and they form a triangle if you saw them on a map.

They are pretty similar in their details but they will be the MAIN headquarters for the event. Since I just signed contracts with all of these it will be a few days before they are ready to take reservations but once I give the ok people should call in immediately to reserve their rooms.

The Four Points Sheraton has an indoor and outdoor pool, wireless internet, and a bar. Beautiful rooms and that's the hotel that will fit the MOST amount of people in one spot.

The Marriott Courtyard has an indoor pool and wireless internet as well. They setup a lounge area just in the evenings but it's not a typical bar. The breakfast there is made to order along with dinner but neither are complimentary.

The Holiday Inn Express in Brown Deer has very limited space for us but comes in a little cheaper on the pricing. They have wireless internet, indoor pool, and complimentary breakfast. Unfortunately there aren't too many rooms available to us and I'm sure they'll go very quickly.

Aside for the LaQuinta and Holiday Inn Express on the west side we have 1 other hotel we are working with. That is a Radisson and they are more east than any other location but are still under 20 minutes to all of the courses. In fact they are about 5 minutes to one course and 15 to 20 to the other 3. They have great amenities like two pools and wireless internet. The breakfast is not free but they will be priced better than most of "the triangle".

So ... with all of that being said I'll post all of the hotels special rates codes in the next few days. You must call into each of these hotels to make your reservations. Each will require a code for you to receive special pricing.

More will be posted here, on the Am Worlds webpage, and within the PDGA info given out! Stay tuned.

Man, he's not on the list. They raised the minimum for the top 25% of state point earners from 400 to 500. And he busted his butt the end of the season to get over 400... Too bad. We'll book anyway.

After being heavily involved in the 2006 Am Worlds, and seeing how many went out in the intial invite list, I feel very confident that if gets on the wait list as soon as it opens, he will get in. ;)

I believe there's no waitlist for Pro or Am Worlds this year. First come, first served after May 15th. In the past several years, everyone was allowed off the waitlist anyway in mid-May so this saves an administrative step. Those invited will have from the time online reg opens after March 15th until May 15th to get registered and secure their spot, then reg will be open to any current member for remaining slots.

Chuck are you sure about this? The following was posted along with the list of invitees. It appeared to me that the waitlist started immediately and I e-mailed the address below. I assumed that I will be put on the waitlist.

<font color="blue"> </font> Waitlists
The PDGA has decided to alter the waitlist policies it has traditionally used for the Pro and Am World Championships.
We feel these changes will be both easier to manage and will allow waitlist players more time to make necessary
vacation request, travel and lodging arrangements.
Official invitees will be given an exclusive 60 day period to register for the event after the official invite packages are
released. The invite packages will be emailed on approximately March 15th which means that invitees have until roughly
May 15th to secure their position in the event. After this exclusive registration period has expired the event we will
allow all eligible and current PDGA members to sign up. All registrations must be received by PDGA HQ not later than
July 13th for players competing in the Am Worlds and no later than July 20th for players competing in the Pro Worlds.
Players must be current PDGA members before they will be allowed to register for the World Championships.
We will be creating a notification list for all interested parties that are not on the original list of invitees. Interested
players should contact the PDGA at worldsnotiflist@pdga.com or (706) 261-6342. Please be sure to include your PDGA#,
the division in which you wish to participate, and email address. When the exclusive registration period expires the office
will send an email notice containing the necessary registration informaion.
Please be advised that some divisions are expected to fill and players are encouraged to submit their entry as soon
as possible. Refunds for withdraw will be given until the registration deadline with no questions asked.
On behalf of the PDGA and the host clubs, we look forward to seeing lots of players this summer. Regards and good luck!

I believe what I posted is confirmed by what you just posted. There are no waitlists. The notification list will just tell people when the open registration period starts which may not be exactly May 15th. Could be May 17th, May 20th, etc. It will still be first come first served when registration is opened up regardless if you get on the notification list.

Are those the only 4 courses going to be used at Am Worlds. If so does that mean there will be a cap on the amount of players . It seems hard to fit over 500 players on just 4 courses.

Sorry if this was already asked.

I'm really digging the look of these courses. Although the layout at Dineen looks pretty crazy. Which park will have two courses at it?

And as for fitting 500+ people, they're planning on some players playing 2 rounds one day, 1 round the next, etc. and another group playing 1 round one day, 2 rounds the next day, etc. So that would definitely allow for more people doing it that way...

It might be tougher to get a hotel for the first few days of Am Worlds due to the fact that there is a PGA event in town leading into Am Worlds. In fact, the PGA will completely own the Brown Deer course until Sunday afternoon. Many people will have to find a room for Friday and Saturday, July 21/22 (assuming you come that early) but then move into one of the host hotels on Sunday.

Unfortunately the PGA event here that week because it adds to our headaches but not much we can do about it.

**ALERT**
There is a PGA golf event taking place the week leading into Am Worlds (at Brown Deer Park none the less) which is a challenge we are going to have to work with. That means many of the Am Worlds host hotel(s) are going to be busy or completely booked up until Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd. I apologize for the hassle but we're working on extra places to stay for those that get into town on Thur, Fri, and Sat.

If any hotel tells you that they are full be sure to double check the date and start your reservation on Sunday the 22nd!

Please check out the updated Am Worlds Website (http://2007amworlds.com/) because I updated the accommodations page along with a few other pages. Please go there and read up on the various hotel options. Click refresh on your browser once you get there just to be safe.

Two very important documents you'll find once you get to that page are:

The Am Worlds Host Hotel(s) Comparison Chart (http://www.2007amworlds.com/files/hotelComparisons.pdf) will be very useful in helping you determine where you want to stay. As it states, the Four Points by Sheraton is really going to be the main headquarters for the event.

The Overview Map (http://www.2007amworlds.com/files/AmWorldsOverviewMap.pdf) of Am Worlds locations will help as well. It gives you an idea of where all 4 courses are as well as where all of the hotels are. For reference - everything on that map is NORTH of I-94.

Let me know if you have any questions. And sorry, I can't get the room rates any cheaper than what is listed, trust me, I tried.

I spoke with Lazy Days Campground (http://www.wisvacations.com/LazyDays/) which is about 25 to 30 miles north and they said they would have plenty of room. They don't officially open for another month or so but that's certainly one of your best options.

Lots of people have asked about the RV park at State Fair Park in Milwaukee. I believe that is just a big concrete parking lot. It's not a huge grassy area with trees, lakes, or nature. I think it's just a huge parking lot. It's about 20 minutes from all of the courses (depending on traffic) so it's reasonable in that regard but each person will truly have to think about their definition of 'camping' before staying there.

West Bend, Grafton, Cedarburg, Mequon, Theinsville, Germantown, Menomonee Falls, Hartford, are all cities just a tad north of the courses so if you find anything near them you are around 30 minutes or less to the courses.

So what's the word on camping for worlds? Any good places? Where and how can I sign up? Any help would be appreciated.

Note on Am Worlds Ace Pool:

If it holds true to recent form, any ace pot at Am Worlds will be paid out in merchandise, not cash. I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing, but anyone opting-in to the ace fund should know this ahead of time, and it should have been stated that way on the tournament entry form, since it is a departure from the normal way most PDGA tournaments handle ace pools, even for amateurs.

Apr 11 2007, 12:35 AM
Sorry Matt,

We have been trying to bombard the message boards as well as the player's invite packages saying that we are swaying away from the LaQuinta.

Long and short - they are coming up way short on some promises about renovations and other stuff and it will not be a suitable hotel for an Am Worlds. The other ones are 10 times nicer, are in a better part of town, and are going to be far more accommodating for the event.

If you are really on a budget you can stay there but I wouldn't necessarily endorse it like I did last year.

There are rooms at the main hotel so I would call there. Remember, our block doesn't open up until July 22nd. You may want to stay at LaQuinta until the 22nd then move to the official 'host hotel' - Four Points by Sheraton North in Brown Deer.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Here is the list of people who were invited from the PDGA for the Am Worlds.

If you have any problems with not getting an invite, please contact the PDGA, as they are in charge of that process.

Thank You

Does that mean they are going to use the course for parking like they do in years past? Won't that mean the course will not have the chance to be manicured before the tourney? Or the trash by the patrons to be picked up? If there is any rain the week before the tourney the cars be parked there will absoluteley rip up the course, since supposely are feet do.

The Am Worlds Pre-Registration list (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=5831) has been updated.

A big "thank you" to the staff at the PDGA for taking these registrations. The next update will likely be in a few weeks.

If you are looking to see the Am Worlds courses in a competition prior to the actual event you can come to the Greater Milwaukee Open / Am Worlds Preview (http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&amp;products_id=108) being held as a B-Tier on Memorial Day weekend.

I took about 6 more pre-registrations (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) over this past weekend. We have also decided to offer an Advanced Grandmasters division (with the assumption we have 3 or more). Get signed up asap!

If you wish to see more details about the event check out the event thread (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=0&amp;Number=685931&amp;an=0&amp;page=3#Post6 85931) found elsewhere on this very discussion board.
