Angela threw OB on the moat hole on Highbridge Gold#16 and took a double circle 6, while Val deuced.

Thanks BIBBY, an Albatross, probably never see one of those, at least not on my card. How did you know that anyway.

I used to play a lot of traditional golf and I'm also a student of the TG Masters tournament, so I knew about Gene Sarazen's albatross at the Masters, "the shot heard round the world".

("Sarazen hit "The shot heard 'round the world" in the 1935 Masters Tournament. It was a final round 235-yard 4-wood on the par-5 15th hole that went in, giving him a very rare double eagle 2 on the hole. ")

I had a great time and the courses were awesome. I want to also thank Discraft, Pad Timmons and Brian Sullivan again for treating the Team members so well. Providing all the free polos, discs, beer, and food. I am proud to be part of the Team. Congrats to Nate on a GREAT win and Cale and Mike for making the finals!

Why wasn't the homepage updated over the weekend to include the completion of the 2007 World Championships?

More current/real time updates are key to a growing fan base. IMHO

All ttrim members are well educated in barber implements. FWIW, I heard JLand uses a #2 up top and a #1 down below.

Hole 9 is defintely a par 4. Most people (even good pros) need two shots to get into the putting area (IMHO, that's within 100' or so). I can't imagine anyone making 2 on that hole, unless they throw it in from 100' +, and then it should be a well-deserved eagle.

And yes, I have played it.

Chap

Definitely a par 4. The green is on a sharp and narrow hill with ob behind it. 3 is a great score, especially if it's windy out of the west like usual for the week.

My thoughts on the week...

- The pars, in my mind, should have been....

HG - hole 1 - par 4
Blueberry - hole 10 - par 4 (although this was dueceable)
hole 16 - par 4 (no one could reach this)
Granite Ridge - hole 5 - par 4
hole 9 - par 4
hole 16 - par 4 (huge bonus duece)
hole 17 - par 4

- Not getting the scorecards out before 7 was a big issue for me. However, it was annouced that it would be before 7:30, which it always was. I just thought that it was too late.

- The hotel was great! Thanks to them for an AWESOME hook up and great deal! Worlds with a casino every year!!

- The courses were awesome! Of course I did not like this hole or that ob or this tree, but overall, all three courses are great and def. world championship calliber.

- I was a little disapointed with the players pack. I couldn't believe we didn't get a shirt.

- Thanks to chuck and everyone for a great and memorable week in Highbridge! Countdown to Kalamazoo....

See responses to Robert below:

My thoughts on the week...

- The pars, in my mind, should have been....

HG - hole 1 - par 4: If you're placing your drive on this 510' hole at the landing area at 300-320 feet and then making the approach shot to the well protected pin (which is how most competitors played it did) then it's definitely a pro par 4. If you're Markus Kllstrm, Nate Doss, or FeldBorg who drove the green, then it plays more like a par 3.
Blueberry - hole 10 - par 4 (although this was dueceable): Markus Kllstrm hit the pole on this during the semis. While it's 520 feet, it's downhill and even a noodle-armed competitor should not have had a long approach to save 3. This hole probably averaged 3.3-3.4 which is the tough par 3 that everyone hates.
Blueberry hole 16 - par 4 (no one could reach this) I agree 100% on this one. There's just very little chance to throw a right-turning drive off the tee to get close to the basket. About the only route on this would be a Kllstrm hyzer moon shot over the trees. This hole, #14 on Blueberry, and the back 9 on the Woodland Greens were my least favorites.
Granite Ridge - hole 5 - par 4: Another I agree on. Even the blue tee at 425 ft. uphill to a well protected polehole would have been a challenging deuce. This is one hole that could have been an acceptable easy par four.
Granite Ridge hole 9 - par 4: Again, if you've got a big arm but choose not to challenge the swamp, it's definitely a pro par 4. But some of the elite guys can drive this green though.
Granite Ridge hole 16 - par 4 (huge bonus duece) Playing 450 ft. downhill, most competitors choose not to drive the green because of the OB marsh. But they could easily if they wanted to. There were several deuces during the semis on Sunday morning here, and it's a very shortish upshot if you lay up. Again, this hole probably averaged 3.1-3.3 which is the tough par 3 that everyone hates.
Granite Ridge hole 17 - par 4: Yes it was 460 uphill, but I'm willing to bet that a lot of big arms were making shortish upshots here. Again, just another tough par 3 that would have been a very easy pro par four. I took a 4 on it in practice and it felt like a bogey. [/list]

lots of good points here Jeff.

My main point on HG 1 was I sat there and saw all these guys on this hole and NO ONE was within 50 feet. People were even having trouble throwing a good lay up on the hole!

I did like this hole though. Thought it was a great double placement hole.

On a side note, it was good meeting ya this week

I enjoyed playing the courses at Highbridge. My division played Blueberry, Highbridge White and Woodland Bear. Blueberry and Highbridge were my favorite courses. I thought Woodland Bear was a great test of the control shot. When there was a turnover or hyzer shot on the heavily wooded holes, you needed to make the line or get punished. There were several dogleg holes that put a premium on where to land to have an easier chance to make it further down the fairway.

Yes, there were a couple of holes here and there that could be improved, but all in all it was a world class venue with world class courses. It was worth the long trip to get to Highbridge and the daily drive to the courses was a nice "commute". I really enjoyed the scenery.

I loved holes 14 & 16 on Blueberry (doglegs) and I enjoyed playing Holes 6 and 12 on Highbridge White. My favorites Holes on Woodland Bear were 2, 3, 4 and 7, which forced fairway placement over sheer distance.

The only holes I did not care for were 6 on Woodland Bear and 18 on Blueberry. There were too many trees on the fairways and no clear skill route. IMHO, these were "luck" holes. There were some "extra" trees that could be removed from 6 Highbridge as well.

I did not have a problem with the basket on Woodland 17. It was actually a very great hole with OB all along the left that forced shot placement. Yes, it was a "unusual" basket placement, but it was easy to get if you used some different skills. It was not a traditional putt.

Again, it was a world class event at a world class venue and very much worth the effort to get there.

I wish hole 16 GR was about 20 ft shorter. I threw duplicate perfect uphill drives at the extent of my accuracy and power and was always 30 to 35 feet out with an uphill putt. I liked the trees, but the one piece of "shule" was right where a perfect drive would land, forcing a straddle or angled annie putt.

Wish the courses had a few more holes that were in the 350-420 range, this seemed to be sorely represented on the courses we played. Otherwise, a good event on quality world class courses.
