Here is a little interesting tid bit that I got from my Course Designers Group...these calculations are course's within 50 miles of major cities. Tulsa is #20 in the RANKINGS which is cool considering our population. Only Leicster, MA and Appelton, WI can say they have more course per capita.

The Names in the right side are the people that have course design certificates throughout the country.

It's great that we are in the mix, got to pat yourselves on the back if you are part of this club that has made many of these courses possible.

These calculations were made possible by the stat man Chuck Kennedy

Yea, you could tell I was REAL worried.

He may have been younger and he may have been stronger but he was obviously on at least his second bucket and the one thing I would have tought him is OLD men don't fight fair.
It would have been just like any young guy standing up to his father and thinking, "Man I plucked up this time" "he's plucking crazy!" :D

I thought I was going to have to choke a b**ch! :o:D

What are you talking about. Don't start telling crap that ain't so.

How soon you forget, I'm the one that met him at the middle of the table and jumped his arse about all the crying he did to get on the table and he didn't even have the right change. He thought he was going to play at my end until then, after that his buddy stepped in and sent him down your way, where his buddy knew he was safe. ;)
When he came down to shake my hand after, I told him I hope my wife at the other end of the table was okay to you. :D

" The way I have ALWAYS seen this handled is:

If the disc is touching at least 1 blade of grass, it is considered IN BOUNDS. I have even seen this enforced in the final 9 of a fairly large tournament. It was a similar situation where the OB road was actually dirt, so the OB line is not very straight. Scott Martin's disc was in the road but just barely touching the tip of 1 blade of grass, it was ruled in, then he hit the 35ft putt for a duece...

Who is I?
And just because thats what they did it, does that make it the rule?

It still comes down to the integrity of the player. You were a witness to a similar situation, when you were just observing. The group was in question if the disc was out or not, completely surrounded by water. The group called it in bounds to give the benefit to the player. The player called it out, took the stroke and threw for a 3. Now, the player could have said, Okay, thanks, but didn't, because that goes against the greatest aspect of the sport, Honesty and integrity.

There is nothing worse than a player that bends and fudges the rules a little, just to pick up a stroke or two. He argues every call, even when it is more than obvious. I don't regulary play with anyone like that around here but we have all seen them, right Wayne?

... that was copied from a post by Anthony Bee , from Michigan ... under the Rules and Standards thread ... I just knew you'd find that-point-of-view interesting ... ;) ...
.
... here is a response to him from Chuck Kennedy :
.
" No PDGA Marshal worth their certification would ever call a disc IB if the full diameter is completely over asphalt/cement no matter how many blades of grass are extending over the asphalt/cement and under the disc. This bogus call by players cost me a potential spot in the semis at PW2005 when another player who did get in did not get the penalty.

It's definitely a much tougher call when there's not a sharp edge such as gravel or dirt roads. Benefit of the doubt to the player and a suggestion that TDs get those tricky areas marked better for events.

For the Chandler Tornado will the Tye-Dye clothes be shirts or hoodies? And can you order nore that one?

sschumacher
Mar 19 2007, 11:25 AM
Clint,

The tie dye stuff this year will be tourney stamped t-shirts and those "very limited" edition tie dye hats you may have seen me wearing around.

Last year the Tie Dye lady gave us an extremely good deal on the hoodies. We only had a few of them but they sold out fairly quick because we priced them very low. I think she realized this year that she made a mistake and she's bumped up our price which doesn't include our cost to stamp them with the tournament stamp. :(.....We will not be pre-buying those specifically this year since it's kind of something that is offseason and I don't want to get stuck with them. This also includes the long sleeve shirts which she jacked the price up also. :(

If you want I could check with her and see if she can get one in your size but I don't know the availability and how long it would take to get it done. The shirts are going in for the stamp in about two weeks so if you want I can ask her how long it would take to get one in and have it dyed. The cost with the tournament stamp will be $28 and thats probably something that I would like to have 1/2 the money up front.

Anyone wanting a long sleeve tye dye needs to pre-order with their size now because as I said before I don't need a bunch of extra shirts hanging around my dog house. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif...Cost for long sleeve will be $17.

WHO DARE SCREW WITH MY MOUNTAIN!!!!

Seems like someone pulled the # 17 basket out of the ground and moved it farther back by 30 or 40 feet and leaned it up against a tree......Which one of you pitch-n-putt haters did it!!!!!....Was it you McCoy??? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif....What about you Wise???....

I got a call from a player that said # 17 was out of the ground. When I called Standingbear he told me someone had pulled it out and moved it to make a longer hole. It doesn't really bother me to make it a longer hole but the least they could have done is dig a new hole for it.

What a great idea. Let's just move it and lean it up against a tree.....Duh???? No one will know the difference.

Thanks to a world class park maintenance staff, it has been re-planted in it's original location. Anyone with info on who did it please step forward. I will find the culprits that did it and they will pay!!!!

No, I forgot my walet, so I wasn't throwing any bets around. Besides it was all FurDog could do to stay ahead of him. :D

We started on # 1 and it was tied after # 16. Then I got greedy. The new "Peewee" won $1 ctp on # 14. $5 for the round. And then lost $5 on a cpt bet on # 18. He owes me $6.

Once I found out he didn't have his wallet with him I felt like calling the Owasso police and telling them that there's a blue Avalanche heading their way and the guy has just shot at some cars on 169.

Dave's runt was never a threat. In fact the kid asked me for my autograph after the match.

You were going to spot him 8 and you beat him by 10. :o

8??? WHERES THE 1/2 STROKE....NOW THATS ENOUGH TO MAKE SOME ONE MAD THAT THEY DIDN'T GIVE THE HALF STROKE AFTER TAKING ADVANTAGE OF IT LAST WEEK!......WE CAN UNDERSTAND NOT GIVING THE 1/2 STROKE TO WISE.....BUT NOT TO DREW, HE'S ONLY 11 YEARS OLD....IN MY EYES YOU'VE LOST BY DEFUALT.

I didn't see your donkey butt out there.

I offered him strokes and he didn't want them. Besides I gave the little wiener free entry and since he didn't have any cash to pay up, what the heck did it matter. He went splat like a bug on my windshield. I offered him a free disc for winning the junior division and he didn't want it because he said his dad has plenty of plastic from his bagger days.

Sorry Blue. Stick to soccer and maybe you'll be able to be a mooch like your dad. :o

Tonight!!!....Tonight!!!....Tonight!!!

The final Chandler mini for the month of June!!!!

Start time is 6:15.

Ace pot starting at $47 but don't think about taking it with you because it's all mine!!!!

Extra free CTP!!! :)

Free beer for those that bring it.

Please note that my DX stock is running low so bring some extra cash and step up to some Champion or Star plastic.

Better yet.....Play Pro division for a change. :o

Don't be scared!!!

Some of you baggers from the Am and Novice divisions from last week (and you know who you are) need to pony up and quit taking plastic from true Novs and Ams.....I might have to create some new divisions called "Not so Novice" or "Not so Am". /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Speaking of baggers. Does anyone know why "Q" plays pro at Chandler mini's but bags down to intermidiate at State Championships??? :p

Don't worry about Coda showing up. The boy looked tired after last weekend and will probably take a break tonight. Don't worry about McCoy either. That guy is busy buying baby clothes and toys. ;)

So it's festivus for the rest of us. Please move to the front of the bus because the rear of the bus is sitting on the railroad tracks. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Wow!!!....The Steve Winwood concert last night was great.....

The guy played bass with his foot. :o At first I thought he just had a happy foot but no he was slamming the low notes on bass pedals of a classic Hammond organ. No bass player was needed. The night was full of old-school classics from Traffic, Blind Faith, and Spencer Davis. He also played some new stuff along with some of his classic solo grooves.

I'd like to thank Kevin and Becky for coming down from OKC and setting Marie and I up with some great 3rd row seats. Scotty Wilkerson and his wife were there and I hooked the Treats up with a couple of tickets I had won off the radio. Got to take care of my fellow Deadheads and I knew those guys would enjoy a classic show like this one....By the way Andrew, .....those were Fender twin amplifiers. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You would think with the high price of gas and all the bad in the world these days that one might be able to get away from it for a while and relax with a round of DG. So you go to a nearby park and sign up for a mini with a sense of well being thinking youll get on a card with people looking to relax and forget about life for a while. Then it happens. Junior Terrorism on the golf course.

They come with baby faces that their mothers will always love and theyre very quiet at first. They are the pre-teens. Young males between the ages of 8 and 12. They smile at you and say good luck during the high five slap before the round and then they quietly stand back and wait for their turn in the box. You throw. They throw. You walk down the fairway admiring what a great day it is. You throw your approach shot. They say Nice Up. You both par the hole and walk to the next one. Then out of no where they comment, I normally birdy that last hole. You think to yourself. Yeah right.

The next hole is 350 feet. You throw. They throw but they grip lock it a little and end up with a bad lye. They make a comment about how thats exactly what they meant to do because they have a special upshot that will park it under the basket from that specific location only. They prepare to throw their upshot but after spending a minute checking the wind and lining up their shot they decide to get a different disc out of their bag and the whole wind checking and lining up their shot process is repeated. After two minutes they finally throw and the disc goes 20 feet, whacks a tree, and then rolls into about 3 inches of casual water. They make a comment about how thats never happened to them before. Then they ask you if they can borrow your towel to dry off their disc.

After another two minutes of wind checking, shot line up, and disc selection they throw out of the woods but before they can make their next shot their cell phone rings. They say Sorry but Ive got to take this call. Then a short conversation occurs between them and the caller about Xbox being better than Playstation.

The round continues and although his game doesnt get any better he starts to tell you about all the aces hes had at this course and how he normally shoots 6 to 7 strokes under par here. After a while he stops talking about his game and all he wants to do is tell you what youre doing wrong and how he wouldnt have used that disc. By the end of the round youve wasted an extra 10 minutes of your life because he accidentally dropped his cell phone a few holes back and had to go back and look for it. In your mind youre starting to wonder if the traffic jam you got into on 169 driving to the course was more fun. By the time the round is over the kid has talked so much trash that you feel he could be the spokesman for any city sanitation department in the country. You start to wonder why the TD hates you so much that he put that kid on your card.

Who are the main targets of these young terrorists? Novice and old people. After being away from DG for twenty years when I came back I started playing in (what was then available) Am Master division. Problem was that there were only a few people in that division and when there was a spare junior that needed a card the TD would normally fold him into a novice or an Am Master card since there was only a couple of old guys playing it. That was when I was first hit. I will give him an alias and just call him..Little Dave.

Later in a PDGA tourney I was hit again. I will call him Trey the Terrible.

Where the training camp for these little runts is,.I dont know but its out there somewhere and we have to form a coalition and counter attack before they run all the newbees and old people off and ruin the sport we love so much.

Last night I struck back and in the process identified one of the top training officers and financiers in the Junior Terrorist organization. I will call the young operative.Drewl and his trainer.Mouth. This was a rare occasion where both the attacker and his senior officer were conducting operations on the same card. How a junior got put on a pro card I dont know but it just goes to show that no matter what,.we are all at risk.

I gave the Drewl 10-1/2 strokes and in the end I was successful in putting down the young insurgent. The battle was hard fought throughout the round with his instructor many times engaging his student on what to say and what methods of attack to use. It was like playing on a card with Dr. Evil and Mini-me. It all came down to the final hole and I when I distracted the kid with a picture of Barney, his fate was sealed.

As in any battle there were a few casualties though. Mouth hit me for a couple of bucks and Steve Naegele went down in a blaze of embarrassment when Drewl cut him down with a dollar call.

Stand up people and join the fight now before these young insurgents grow into adult criminals with code names like Mitchell, Twoputt, Q, and Regier.

Its never too late to fight the good fight.

Well if you look at the scores you will see that Drewl's best round was the round that I caddied for him. It was my expert advice and guidence that carried him through to the top. He was very surprised at first to find out that I was his real father but he later said that he always felt that he might have been adopted.

He also asked me to call DHS and tell them to come and get him because he is afraid that his growth will be impaired if he has to continue to live in a house with such a big headed donkey's rear such as yourself. :o....He doesn't want to grow up and sell insurance and screw old ladies out of their money. I told him to go ahead and runaway and Lil'Moose and I will take care of him. That way he won't someday be tagged by his friends as "Avalanche Andrewl /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif".

Is it me or does the guy in this photo on the Twisted Flyer home page only have two big fingers on his left hand? I can't tell if those are fingers or "pinchers" but it looks like he's flashing the inverted Vulcan sign for "Live long and Prosper".

Has Twisted Flyer given up on sponsoring earthly talent and are they now recruit illegal aliens from outerspace?

Its been a year since I turned it over, so USDGC wasn't a factor then, the Avalanche was purchased two years before Worlds so you miss on that one, the horse is a mare, you missed that by a mile. I'm the only stud at home. :D

and you couldn't follow in my footsteps if I gave you my shoes. :o

If we leave the finances to you, all champion discs will $8.50, entries will go down to $10 for a B tier, Chandler would be the only course we ever hear about, club memberships would be free, the dent in your truck would get fixed and you could finally pay the child suppport that I'm sure you owe from one of your weekend blackouts. :o

The club would be broke faster than it takes Wayne to spam every thread with one of his tournaments. :o
