I would like to thank all of my disc golf family for your thoughts and prayers for my wife Julie, before, during and after her surgery. She is doing much better but has a terrible case of cabin fever.
I also want to thank those that sent emails, cards and brought food to the house. I won't mention names because that is not what it's about. Our local disc golf family does take care of their own and they are always there when you need them. Even if you don't ask for help.
This is what I love most about the sport and the players in this town. We may have our differences from time to time but they are always there when it counts.
and a BIG thanks for the flowers from the TDSA, she LOVED them.
Thank you all!
Disc golf is family.

I ran into a 1 mexican rallie last weekend....here is a pic i took, check it out:
MEXICAN RALLIE (http://www.homesoffootball.co.uk/3720_MEXICO.JPG)
Just yesterday 45 minutes before the girls tee'd off for there 3rd round at Texas Womens Championships sunday morning. C Peavy had a 7 stroke lead and all we have to do is get there on time and she will win for sure.
Melissa needed a visor to match her outfit so we stopped by Wal-Mart to accomidate her needs and we accidentally locked the keys in the car. We were screwed! Called AAA and they said it would be atleast 45 minutes, so our only option was break the window.....well until we came accross one of those guys who have the chrome letters in the back window, that read Rodriguez. Martinez, or Sanchez (i cant remember) just happened to park next to us. Well CP was right on the ball and asked Julio if he "just happened" to have a slim jim. Well like most chromed lettered back window guy, it was a NO BRAINER he had one and bailed us out just in the lick of time.
So I would like to say thanks to Julio Edaurdo Sanchez Rodriguez who bailed us out with his "handy" slim jim that he just happened to carry in his car.

Do you know this guy?

the same scores to the end,MC what's up with the 117 shot round?
WOW 1026 rated round :D,with 117 shots,everytime I shot a 117 in a round it's like a 400 rated round
Great job on the win.
BTW - Keldog - Everyone shot over a 1000 that round. It looks like something went wrong in the ratings projection (of which I have no clue how that's calculated for doubles).

Yeah it was team score, we took a 10 on hole 8 at Veterans :o
Thanks guys, me and "the dude" had a good time playing golf together...it was cool because we never got upset even after a bad hole.
Swygert got SCREWED on Sunday morning...we were staying at PJ Fry's house and when we woke up on Sunday morning Swags 4runner was GONE! Of course the disc golf bags were in there. Turns out it got towed and Aaron had to pay $230 to get the car out needless to say Aaron was a #$*&$! off individual.

Sounds like the problem CP and I had in Austin a couple weeks ago at Texas Women's Championship! Someone locked the keys in the car at 8am and tee time was 9am! I was running past hole 1 on my way to hole 8 as they were yellin' "two minutes"!

An Easy Choice
A man was washed up on a beach after a terrible shipwreck. Only a sheep and a sheepdog were washed up with him. After looking around, he realized that they were stranded on a deserted island.
After being there a while, he got into the habit of taking his two animal companions to the beach every evening to watch the sun set.
One particular evening, the sky was a fiery red with beautiful cirrus clouds, the breeze was warm and gentle - a perfect night for romance. As they sat there, the sheep started looking better and better to the lonely man.
Soon, he leaned over to the sheep and put his arm around it. But the sheepdog, ever protective of the sheep, growled fiercely until the man took his arm from around the sheep.
After that, the three of them continued to enjoy the sunsets together, but there was no more cuddling.
A few weeks passed by and, lo and behold, there was another shipwreck. The only survivor was Hillary Clinton. That evening, the man introduced Hilary to the evening beach ritual. It was another beautiful evening - red sky, cirrus clouds, a warm and gentle breeze - perfect for a night of romance.
Pretty soon, the man started to get "those feelings" again. He fought the urges as long as he could, but he finally gave in and leaned over to Hillary, cautiously, and whispered in her ear...
"Would you mind taking the dog for a walk?"

Also, what if one of the players throws their disc into the shule and while their back there looking for it they find some pot plants. Can they take a few home with them?
What about field events? Do Colorado rules apply?
Is there going to be any bug and snake repelant in the players pack?
Also......If one of the players gets bitten by a snake are the other players on his card required to suck the poison out? :(

No, all items mentioned should be turned in at tournament central. I will figure out what to do with them after the event.
Also, what if one of the players throws their disc into the shule and while their back there looking for it they find some pot plants. Can they take a few home with them?
Again, No! These are the property of the parks department and are under the control of the nature conservatory. All flora and fauna must be left in plance and untouched.I must also be notified as to it's location so that we can make sure it is properly protected from other players and/or gallery participants.

Yes, for the Oklahoma players only.
Also......If one of the players gets bitten by a snake are the other players on his card required to suck the poison out? :( No! They are not required. How ever I know there are some around here that would quickly volunteer to suck about anything . What I did on my one day vacation......by Furdog
I woke up.
Staggered to the fridge for a glass of water.
I went back to bed.
Then......
I woke up.
Drove out to Mohawk just in time to miss the morning cement pour.
I hung around.
Then.......
I watched while the experts poured and crafted some beautiful tee pads.
I carried a important cement tool.
Then......
I sat on my butt and watched tee pads as they dried.
At 6:30 I thought about placing my paw print in the cement.
At 6:45 I was on my way to leave my mark.
At 6:46 Swaggie showed up and ruined my plans.
At 7:45 I left.
Did I do anything?.......No.
Am I a hero?........No.
But I watched a group of "Hero's" make something out of nothing so others can tee off and fly freely.
And I feel honored to know them.

I've have found out that the key to avoiding work is just like being married. Whatever your wife asks you to do you smile and with much enthusiasm go happily forward to handle the task at hand. Sometimes its opening a jar or just taking out the trash which is no big deal. Then at some strategic moment, you screw it up. After that shell never ask you to do that task again thus you gain valuable couch time and a good feeling that youre still a important contributor to the family.

I was merely defending myself because of RedhairedWonders abuse of the "karma" word. My karma is golden right now, the T-Town Golf Gods know I have sweat blood on these courses.
Just like a lot of other local guys I have put in a ton of personal time working, truth be known I could stop working now and I would feel good about how much time I put in. The thing is we have more work to be done so my efforts will continue as is.
Andrew be sure to bring one of these with you for the next pour :D

Most of the White Tees are marked;
I just found out we get 10 (trying to make it 12 ;)) white tee boxes, which will make WhiteHAWK just like your traditional par 54 course similar to McClure and Hunter. When we get to host an event at Mohawk I'm hoping to have it a 3 round tourney with 1 round on each layout. That should be a sweet format for a tourney out there.

But the strange thing was when Dave Zucconi picked it up he had a huge cucumber in the front seat of his truck.
Which brings up a question.
Why is it that Zucconi hangs around the parks all day with a cucumber in his truck?

Those of you who have not heard of the Oklahoma Disc Golf DVD need to pay attention. Normally I receive large amounts of money to do product endorsements but after seeing the trailer for this one, I figure this one is worth doing for free.
I was lucky enough to get one of the two "trailer" DVDs that Kevin gave away at the picnic and I got to tell you, this is going to be a must buy for every Okie DG'er this Xmas.
This has some funny stuff in it including:
"Mitch Mac" vs "The Tree"
"Kevin McCoy" vs "The Truck" :)
A classic Bud Johnson reaction on the blooper reel. :D
A rocking sound track, super special effects, and some nice shots by people you actually know. :o
This was just the trailer and I give it an official two-paws up.
Kevin said these should be available by Xmas either thru him, the club, and/or TwistedFlyer. Make sure you pick one up. :D
Though I hate to part with it, I will make the "trailer" copy I have available to some lucky winner this Friday night at "Friday Night Flights" at Chandler Park. Show it to your friends, your boss, your co-workers, and potential sponsors. Let everyone know that Oklahoma DG Rocks!!!!
THANKS FURDOG!!!!!
It is coming along nicely. I hoped at first to have an hour of good footage but it is now starting to look like 2 full hours of OKIE disc golf action.
MORE info to come soon ;)
I think I have enough footage to have a Avalance kenny section on the DVD :D

Hey screw you Red. :p.... Sorry if I appear to be insensitive to the fact that another basket got stolen. I think its BS also but the fact is that crap is going to happen. And while youre sitting there on your butt smoking your doobie maybe you should ponder from what generation this is coming from and what reasons they have for doing it because more than likely it was probably young punks about your age that did this because most people from my generation have better things to do.
Even if they get caught there will always be some lawyer to get them off with a slap on the wrist. What are you going to do about it? I guess I should mourn the loss of this basket but right now if I caught the people that did this I would probably have them put to sleep. And to tell you the truth, its just not worth it to loose it over the stupid acts of others. Im sorry I dont have much faith in the justice system that youre studying to be a part off. :p
Maybe the true culprits of this are the parents of these losers. Oh mom and dad dont love me so Im just going go steal something. Seems like todays society is all about 2nd and 3rd chances for kids because some parents are feeling guilty about having failed their children in some way. You seemed to turn out ok though so maybe youre one of the lucky ones.
And by the way, if you ever have any children in the future make sure you keep them away from me because Im allergic to kids and if they get too close Im going to drop kick them right up your butt.

An option (besides Jake's great "tongue lashing" :D) could be to use the media. They are always hurting for new news stories to put on TV (especially negative stories). Have them do a story about the baskets, show a basket and maybe one of the parents or neighbors of one of the punks that stole the baskets would notice that it's not a new BBQ that the neighbor kid brought home and call the police or the TV station.

Absolutely, I would definitely call the radio station that sponsors Tulsa discgolf. Have them put it on the air hourly for a several days. The longer it is gone the harder it will be to find. You may find a mom or dad call. Who cares who gets the money Tulsa discgolfers want it back. When you find the person we also lost 3 in a 4 month period this year. If they are making a golf course we have 2 DGAs out there is 18 number plate and 14 number plate and another w/18 number plate.

It may work, especially if it were announced that there was a $1200 + cash reward.
I would agree but it would seem to me that the basket would need to be marked with an ID number or something to prove that it was property of Tulsa Parks Department. When some punks around town stole a penguin statue a couple of years back it was immediate recovered in someones backyard due to the media and the fact you really can't hide a 5 foot fiberglass penguin. I have not seen any of the baskets marked with anything to identify them as "Property Of".....If I see a basket in my neighbors yard how do I know he didn't just go out and buy one?
CAMBAGGER
Nov 17 2006, 02:01 PM
The different types of baskets should solve that, plus the fact that Mom and Dad or son can't provide a reciept or any proof that they did purchase the basket.
we should paint one of the arms of the basket that points to the next hole on ALL our baskets because the paint gets into the weld and we could identify any basket that gets stolen.
RonSTL
Nov 17 2006, 02:15 PM
That is a great idea, spray into the weld so it could not be mistaken.
sschumacher
Nov 17 2006, 02:45 PM
I believe all the Inova baskets with the yellow band should be painted or "etched" with "Property of Tulsa Parks Department" around the top. Sure the thiefs could always repaint it but until they do it would be a obvious sign in the back of their truck or their backyard to everyone that see's it. I don't see people stealing stop signs, traffic signals, or orange barrels because it's kind of obvious to whom it belongs to. Too bad GPS trackers are too-expensive. :(
Cam, I don't see the fact of not having a receipt for the basket as proof that it was stolen since possession is 9/10th of the law. Baskets don't come with serial numbers and you would still need to prove ownership to the police before they would act.
sschumacher
Nov 17 2006, 03:19 PM
On another note, offering a reward worth almost 3x the value of the item that was stolen is a great idea as long as it doesn't send a message to these punks that all they have to do is steal a basket, throw it in their neighbors yard, and then call us to receive the reward. :(.....If that be the case then right now there's about $43,000 in reward money sitting out at Mohawk.
People are going to great lengths now days to steal copper. My brother told me that in Texas, thieves will wait until you're on vacation and then pull up and steal your whole A/C unit......
But don't listen to me right now because I'm feeling bitter and would prefer a little street justice.
