So who all is coming from 3rd Coast? Trying to figure out how much chili to make. We will have one very large container of adult malted beverage for your enjoyment.

I have a thought on the format. What about 1 semi-serious stroke round of 18 in the morning, eat some chili, play some games and then play something totally nonn-serious for the 2nd round. Something like Best or Worst Shot Doubles, F*** Your Buddy (we have cards) or some other crazy game.

Let me know what you think or any ideas. This is all about having lots of fun and raising some much needed coin for the Food Bank.

BTW, I have received our Ice Bowl Merchandise and the Clear, Full Color ZE XSs are SWEEEEEEET!

172 Breeze
172 Shark
175 Aviar

Hitting chain on the first hole was fun but I hope if it ever happens again it sticks that adrenaline spike messed me up.

Feb 18 2005, 03:49 PM
There's close to 10 acres in the local park (Memorial Park). A few of us have walked through the brush to get an idea of how a course might work with the existing trail. The park lends itself to 9 holes with a fairly wide variety of shots. We are working on drafting up a proposal to the city, but wanted to get input and ideas from those who know. I know theres alot going on right now - with Guth getting new baskets and a new course in the Bluff - so if there isn't a meeting scheduled, maybe there should be?

The pro players are the ones who have paved the way for all of us .I would really like as much help as I can get .I do not have the time to do this by myself.its time to step up and give of yourself and to be apart of the big picture. What is the big picture ,Ask someone who has been around awhile and who has put his or her time in making things better

I have total recall of the meeting we had, I had two beers and half a pizza thank you very much. I have been trying to contact Parks and Recreation with no luck, since I'm supposed to be picking up CB's responsibilities.

Ask me what I meant Billy.

"So what your saying is you wont help raise any money unless it goes where you want it."

I meant if I could find a substantial donation I would want to add to more than one division. Open (I know why). Ladies to help draw more.

klank- I planted seeds already for my new employer. The owner of the company told me to let him know when events come up close to a Montana Mike's, and he would do what he could. I told him I was an ambassador for the sport, not just trying to make money for any particular club in general. He said they like to help out by giving gift certificates, I told him that was great and that we could work with whatever we were given.
Regardless, I am in for $25(for towels), as long as it can wait a couple of weeks. Sorry I missed the meeting at BJ's! I tried to attend.

Hey Billy, or Lance!!! Count me in for at least $25. It's the least I could do for the support you guys have given us. Don't know if I'll be able to play, but I'll donate for sure!!!

ozdisc
Feb 24 2005, 12:22 PM
If you guys don't mind I would like to share some of my experience when it comes to raising money.

If you have any idea how to run an event you would know the huge amount of personal time and expense it takes to do even the smallest event.

If a club asks its members to raise even $25 each that is a great effort that added up will amount to covering much of the costs and make an event that everyone expects. Note I said cover costs first. Who do you think is going to pay for all the "little" expenses it takes? Somebody has to.

Once those expenses are covered all the "greedy am's" expect player packs. Who is paying for this? If you get a towel you expect a t-shirt, if they give you a t-shirt you expect a disc, if you get a disc then you expect a disc and t-shirt. No one is ever happy. Who pays for all of this?

Yes I am a Pro Player and adding money makes a Pro's decision to travel. Yes Pro's are greedy, everyone is.

If everyone chips in and helps out everyone will benefit, I said everyone.

One more thing about donating $25. This I believe is not about pulling $25 out of your pocket to do it. Go to a local business you know, support or know someone at. That way you not only can get $25 (maybe more) but you help expose our sport to other locals including local business.

Only when the sport gets outside our own industry will it really make a difference.

So I will put it this way...today at work think of someone that you know that runs a business in the local area. Think what you can offer them in return for a tournament or course donation. Ask Billy for a letter with info about the event or course if needed and make it happen. Even if they say no, you are exposing them to the sport at even the smallest level. Next time they hear about disc golf they may just say yes.

I hope that helps.

Thanks
Chris

Feb 24 2005, 12:23 PM
I'm in for $25 too.

Thanks for the nice round on Saturday guys. I had a great time! You CC guys are always (usually :D) great. Dont forget to post the TWC flyer.

Mar 16 2005, 08:18 PM
Any problem with signing up on Saturday morning for this one? I have to be in Beeville on Sunday morning, so I might try to get an earlier start and make the Saturday event.

Mar 16 2005, 08:37 PM
While I'm at it, are the directions in the course directory accurate? I'd hate to get up at the crack of dawn on Saturday drive all the way from Houston and be late because I got lost in Ingleside. I've played there before but that was a few years and several beers ago.

Live Oak Park (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&location=MxbegF8MvKIXrCO8sQHjlNh1wY9YxVGS6GBzxrx5h 8PB701VbIpDPQC9i9xPyUfQPHnjxXc3q00zAykAUA7KvbMmcv% 2fqQq4eIOrMeqjYoaB4r8k2betvIUn9mDB8hsqZyHao8kHsqja bL%2fKfqMuBYw%3d%3d) is pretty easy to find, and this tourney should be lots of fun. See you on Saturday!

Mar 18 2005, 01:11 PM
Capt. I got your PM and I'll try to find something to bring along for the raffle.
Is there a campground nearby or a place I can just park on the beach overnight without getting hassled? I may end up driving up late tonight and just crashing in the van.

Mar 18 2005, 02:47 PM
Not sure about any other campsites ,I think you can camp in the park.I will let you know about 2pm.I will call and get some info.

Mar 18 2005, 03:23 PM
It is ok to camp at the park ,I haved talked to parks and rec .And there will be people camping That are skateboarders for this big skate park dedication at the other park .You do not need any permits .Call me and let me know if you are going to camp.

Mar 18 2005, 05:06 PM
Thanks a ton for the info. I'm almost 100% sure I'll be there at some point. I'm not sure if I will leave tonight or in the morning. If I do leave tonight it will most likely be pretty late.

Hey Richard - I'm probably gonna get up around 4am and start the drive over there so I can make it there by at least 9am. (I'll want to throw a few for practice and to stretch out a bit after the 4.5-5 hour drive down.)

Shoot me an e-mail if you are interested in caravan-style trip down...maybe we can stop and grab some breakfast around Victoria or something...

At least 4 from Houston and at least 2 from Beaumont played this very good course today!

Had a blast playin Advanced Masters again!

Many thanks to Billy and Ryan and the city of Ingleside for the most fun I've had playin a tournament this year!

Ingleside has a nice 18 hole course. Not particularly long, but man are there ever some tight fairways!

West Guth will probably not be playable This Sunday because of Easter. We could have it in ingleside, or maybe Guth on Saturday. Maybe we could all get together and caravan up to Live Oak or Victoria.
Any Suggestions?

I'd be up for Ingleside, Victoria or Live Oak. I think Guth may be a little rough even on Saturday. Efrain, Austin would be a bit much though. You make the call Erron and we can spread the word early.
