Nikko Locastro wins the 2009 USDGC
Congratulations to our new US Champion Nikko Locastro.
Missouri’s Nikko Locastro, 21, is your 2009 United States Disc Golf Champion. With his eye on the title, he knew what he had to do to beat the tough field of eager competitors - remain calm and let his practice pay off.
And boy did it ever! His two stroke victory over former World and USDGC Champion Dave Feldberg became a reality when he was presented a check for $15,000. Locastro also won the National Tour Points Series which earned him an additional $2,000. Not a bad weekend!
Locastro’s young disc golf career already has a history of accomplishments. He has cashed in every PDGA sanctioned event entered since July of 2007. Just in 2009 so far, his total winnings exceed $36,000. He won the first National Tour event of the year in March (The Memorial presented by Discraft in Scottsdale, AZ) which was just a glimpse of the talent we would witness this past weekend in Rock Hill, SC. At such a young age, we will be seeing Locastro near the top in tournament results for quite some time.
