The 2012 IDGC Amateur Championships will take place on June 2-3, just outside of Augusta, GA in Columbia County’s Wildwood Park at the International Disc Golf Center. The 1st Daegu Open Disc Golf Tournament was held at Daegu Environment Resource Park on March 25, 2012, hosted by the Daegu Disc Golf Association, a branch of the Korea PDGA. KPDGA-Daegu was formed by Mr. Byoung Woo Baek, the Secretary General of the Union of Daegu Government Officials.

On Tuesday evening April 10th, the PDGA Board of Directors met for the April monthly teleconference. The first order of business was to elect a new president to replace Dave Nesbitt, who recently resigned his position on the board. In an historical vote, Rebecca Duffy was unanimously elected to serve as the Board President and Commissioner of the PDGA.

This year the elections will take place from July 1 to July 31, with the elected candidates assuming office as of September 1, 2012. Day two of the Amateur Championships in Bowling Green dawned cool with an overcast, gray, and drab sky. However, after the disc golf play started to heat things up the sun broke through, and by the end of the the morning's round the skies had cleared and the sun had brought the temperature up to a nice low 70s.

Big Guns at Bowling Green

A shower of Blizzards and other Innova plastic stormed down upon the Big Gun distance competition on Thursday, prior to the Amateur Championships at Bowling Green (Ky.).

After a full day of players chucking plastic - with some staying for hours trying to get the big one - Ann Arbor, Mich. resident Tony Mitchell emerged from the finals as the Big Gun with a 540-foot drive.

USDGC Qualifying Update

USDGC Open Flight qualifying isn’t just for the young guns. Pro grandmaster Jim Oates proved that when he lit up the courses with multiple 1050-rated rounds during the Memorial Championship (Feb. 29th – March 3rd) in Scottsdale, Arizona and became the first grandmaster to earn an invite through the regional qualifiers.

Day One: Am World Doubles

A full field of 108 teams started the day playing through the morning fog here at the Circle R Ranch. The fog and morning dew made things interesting for the early round.

Then, the fog subsided to a cool overcast sky and players started making their move. By late afternoon the beating hot Texas sun reared and everthing started to heat up.

The PDGA staff at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, GA is now using a new phone system. The old system had only two phone lines covering both in and outbound calls, and a single general voicemail box. This made it very difficult for the staff to handle the large number of calls received from PDGA members and it was hindering our ability to provide good customer service.
