The first weekend of April is only a few days away and in the Disc Golf world that means it is time for the Amateur Championship at Bowling Green. The Amateur Championship at Bowling Green (AKA Bowling Green Ams or BG Ams) is one of the largest gathering of disc golfers every year. Last year the BG Ams was the second largest event on the PDGA schedule with 458 players (The Am Worlds in mid-Ohio had 504) but the current registration for this year's event is 556 players.

The Bowling Green Ams not only has a tournament with players from around the country but it also have lot on ancillary events including doubles rounds, putting contests, distance contest, and free clinic with former World Champion Barry Schultz. A complete schedule fo events is available at www.bluegrassdiscgolf.org/BGamSchedule.html.

Players will also have a unique opportunity available to them on Thursday where they can compete in three PDGA C-tier events being held simultaneously. Each event will have a "flex" start and will allow those enthusiastic players to play a round at three different courses -- Kereikas, Lover's Lane and Hobson Grove. Are you brave enough to play in all three? Below are some links that will provide more information and registration.

Hobson Grove Challenge presented by Dynamic Discs
Bowling Green Blast at Kereikas presented by Sun King Discs
Bowling Green Blast at Lover's Lane presented by Sun King Discs

A new final 9 course has been installed behind the event headquarters: Wha Bha Steakhouse and Saloon, giving the players a location to gather, practice, and relax.   Check in and the high value players’ package is available starting Tuesday, and this year the prizes for the top half of each division will be on line to eliminate long lines and allow a quick exit home on Sunday afternoon.

The event web site www.bluegrassdiscgolf.org/BowlingGreen.html has a complete schedule of activities; as well as all course maps, distances, and out of bounds so players can be prepared prior to coming to Bowling Green.

Tournament Director HB Clark (who held the first Bowling Green event April 1978) and the Bowling Green Disc Golf Club are working hard, along with the many vendors and manufactures to insure a week of fun and competition at the largest ongoing annual gathering of disc golf enthusiast in the world.
