Sounds like the same forecast as last year, but slightly warmer on day 1. Whatever the weather, I expect a much bigger turnout than last year. The word is out -- the two courses in Cedar Hill are some of the best in Texas and then some.

Hey, how different is Cedar Hill from last year. What has changed in the layout and all.

Is it well marked? We're arriving friday for pratice and I'm not sure my failing memory will get me thru the course.

By the way, saw the prereg list and My Hero sure does have a lot of vowels. Maybe that is what is jiggling around his gut. :p

bslamoreaux
Jan 23 2006, 12:36 PM
James, the layout is basically the same with a couple of longer pin positions and much less "schule" on the sides of the fariways. Dont get me wrong, blood can still be drawn but not near as much as before. :D

No tee signs yet but if you get me your email address, I'd be happy to send you a course map to help you along.

Friday afternoon or very early Saturday I'll be painting some arrows in certain places to help people figure it all out. The map really should get you to the next pad but the arrows will still help.

All of the baskets on the Beaver course have huge 8" number plates that can be seen from most pads. Half of the Coyote course has them (the rest must be in someones collection of number plates??). All baskets have some orange numbers on the pole inside the chains to help identify them.

The biggest change are the tee pads and retaining walls. Every hole has a concrete tee pad....

There could be a very interesting announcement in the next 2 hours concerning The Mid-week event. I will hear something in the next 2 hours. If that does not develope in our favor we will be at Veterans Park in Arlington next Wednesday.

The announcement is that we will be at The Vet next Wednesday.

There was interest from Nolan's employer Bear Creek Golf Resort in hosting the event. But since this business is all about player gratification there is no money to pay them for the privilege. It was not enough incentive to rent carts and sell lunches only, to make it worth while for them. They also wanted a fee of some kind, they charge $40 during the week and $75 on the weekends per round, and we all know how many Disc Golfers are willing to pay that much for a round of golf.

Looking at the updated list I see that alot of players are not current PDGA members. What is the rule on b-tier tourney..do you have to be a current member? Reason I'm asking is that I'm not current and don't know if I want to re-join this year, but I would love to play this weekend if all it is going to cost me is the entry fee.

Weatherford is only 9 permanent holes. I will do my best to get that course set up for the afternoon on Friday. I will let you know more as it develops.

I want to let everyone know that there is doubles on Friday both weekends. It is Pick your partner, $30 for am teams and $40 for pro teams. There has been a request for mixed doubles division, since it is pick your partner that is fine as long as there is competition. So if you are interested in mixed doubles it is available to you.

Yes Open and Advanced will play doubles from the long tee's at Z Boaz.

Also, I've asked the city to remove the No Parking signs along Texas Plume road next to hole 2. They have not confirmed it yet but felt they should be able to do this. This way people can park along the road should the parking lot and drive way fill up.

The Tour Page is not accpting again, but I am not going to post it here. We are at 126 right now. You better get there early if you want to play. It is very unlikly that I will go over 180, we will see if it is necessary.

It had not rained a trace before we left the park tonight.

I have Z Boaz numbers that have been GPSed. :D

sandalman
Jan 28 2006, 09:22 PM
i hear that the 9AM players meeting stated about 9:45 because late signups were allowed no matter how late they showed up. i also heard that the meeting took a long time while everyone stood around in the rain. i heard the first round didnt start until 11AM! and that the last couple holes of the second round were finished in the twilight if you had a lucky placement on the course, and near/total darkness if you were positioned in the dense tree part.

i also heard Nolan shot 9 down on the beaver in the morning ro set a new course record. :D :D

Pizza God
Jan 28 2006, 09:42 PM
very good turnout, about 40 players signed up this morning from what I heard.

1st round the rain let up after about 6 holes, but then the tee boxes became mud boxes

+1 on Coyote. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif (good for 2nd place)
+3 on Beaver this afternoon. (let at least one person pass me up)

In Masters, MitchMac (-7) has an 8 stroke lead (don't know scores from the 2nd card) over Daryl Johnson (+1)

11 strokes on me and Jerry Perez (tied at +4 for the day)

got my hands on two very nice red 1st run Valks for $40 each today. :D:D:D

Now if I could only stop slipping on my drives and throw them STRAIGHT I would be fine.

Spiking it into concrete. goodtimes. Im nowhere near the front of the pack in REC(i dont think) but i have two rounds tomorrow to make it up. Scores scores scores scores.

9:30am tee off in the morning right????

A little bird told me that the country people showed up today. Any word on that????

And yes, the park is a dry park. That means NO beer in the park. It is against the LAW and the PDGA/TD must follow the LAW. So no open containers between the rounds.

And no, the PDGA is not talking about raising dues right now. That was stated on another thread. (the last 2 comments are directed towards the guy who was crying big time after the second round.)

maceman
Jan 29 2006, 12:39 AM
Some of what you say is fact, the meeting started late. It was a bit long, but I have already explained why I go over everything, it is a service to YOU and everyone else that plays the event.

As for taking registration regardless of the time, that is completely false, the last person that paid me this morning came through at approximately 8:30. The people that you may have seen "signing up" at any time were already signed up online, and they were merely signing the waiver.

I will not deny that the late registration stalled the entire process, but if 30 people are going to show up and wait in the rain to sign up to play with you then I am going to accommodate them and run a little late as a result. The key factor to this was that we had to wait to sort out divisions to witch course based on numbers and that was not determined until they all signed up.

....Oh and there was another factor, it was pouring down rain.

....and one more thing, I am still working alongside Brandon, at 11pm running this event for you.

Thanks to everyone that came out and slopped around, you all make the effort worth while. :D

It means that your PDGA number was not included in the report. All players need to verify their PDGA numbers which should be listed beside their names when the scores are posted at the tournament. Having hte correct PDGA number in the report will guarantee that you get credit for the round, and make the processing of the TD report by the PDGA staff easier.

You have to be current to play in the A-Tier at Z-Boaz. If you aren't, the marshall will be there to get you current before the event.

Weatherford round, 8 down was the best I heard.

ZBoaz, I think I shot the worst :o

Two 7's and a 5 can really kill a round.

Actually I shot 9 over from hole 2 to 4

I guess I will show up tomorrow to try to redem myself.

see you may of picked up 9 strokes there, but how does it compare to rating. is that 900 golf? haha.

180+ players
19 women.
Jack Banks is in front of OMB by 4 at +2.
Jack Tabor and Gary Duke tied 4 back at +6.
Claydog and Charles Cox tied 5 off the lead at +7.

I don't know the other divisions, scores weren't posted when I left.

If Nolan plays like he did yesterday afternoon, he will take this thing down. -7 at the Z? That is freakish.

Wow. Matt Hall shoots 1000+ golf the first two rounds and is only 10 strokes out of first.

That's a pretty tough field.
