I dont want to move this anywhere else and I dont want to try to change the date because this is the only date we could find for EVERYBODY to be able to play. Cant we play Cameron and then play two rounds of the back nine or have a final nine over in the Beast? There is nothing for me in Temple.

The Following Post is brought to you by the Sir Vincent Miller Foundation. Any posts by this poster on this thread without expressed written consent of the Sir Vincent Miller Foundation are forbidden and will be subject to all applicable penalties of law.

Okay, playing the back 9 of the Beast is groovy with me, since I have a lot more trouble on the front anyway. The deal is, without the front 9 of the course, we really lose the whole feel and best holes of Gary's Gold Toothed Beast. The front 9 is where most of the alterations of this already great course take place and will be where the most different and unusual things would take place.

The reason I suggested Temple is the fact that in this central to all drivers area (another 40 min. south for those driving from the north), its the next best mix of a long, challenging and occasionally dangerous layout. It was just an idea to try to insure that the match would be played on somewhat neutral ground that still offered similar challenges. If its not a pleasing idea to all involved, so be it. I'll comply with a group census.

As for playing Olde Cameron and a Final 9 on the Beast, that sounds doable and I'd be agreeable to it.

As for rescheduling, although the Golden Beast is certainly where I would prefer for the entire match to take place as originally planned, I remember how hard it was to find a date for this thing in the 1st place. Rescheduling would not be easy, believe me. We could try it, but it would be tough and there's no guarantees of when we could get it together. I'm ready to shut these Jethros up now, myself.

So, Here are our choices, as I see them. Please post your preferences based on one of the following three alternatives.

1. Olde Cameron and Final 9 on the back of the Beast

2. Same format of 2 rounds at Temple

3. Reschedule for a date when we can use the full Golden Beast layout.

The preceeding post was brought to you by the Sir Vincent Miller Foundation. Any dissemination of this post without prior written permission is expressly forbidden.

The more holes the better. I know how tired the hillbillys get from the replacement of jack and coke instead of milk in their baby bottles as chilren. (yes I said chilren)

Temple isnt bad. Its actually a nice course but how many people would that deter from watching? I have made plans in Waco and so has another Team member. So what should we do. There is no playing the Gold Toothed Beast before the thing in July for all of us. What should we do? Can someone please translate all of this to them ther hillbillies?

THIS IS NOT A SUGGESTION!
Play old camaron then back 9 of the beast twice.
And I am sure you would like to play a bunch (like banana) of holes. Your team will need all the hole they can to TRY and beat us. :D
what the hell rebels? quit beating the kids, leave the trailer park and down to the coffe shop. Their internet works without havin to crank on it.

Someone please bring a digital, we need to post some pics on the silver backs site

I don't mind playing one round at cameron or even woodson, we still have to think about parking issues, if they are having the race and parking all over the place, just look at the link that harlan posted and click on the link for this race, they have 1000's of people and take up all of the water front part of the course. and normal hole #18 will be filled with cars. and you know hillbillies that will be at the race will probably be in the woods pissing and smoking that funny tubaco. we can always try it though. but the parking thing and people on the course might fall into play at cameron also, if they will be parking and watching the race from the original cameron course also.

I do not have a problem playing anywhere. you panty waste need to pop the titty out the mouth and see that we can not cater to everyones wants. we had this date set months ago, cause everyone could do this date. now the course is messed up, but that means we play somewhere else. it doesn't matter where we play we will still smoke and grill them monkeys.

I don't want to hear a bunch of crying over this, I have to move to oklahoma on monday morning. Im the one that should be doing the crying.

so lets hear what everyone wants to do.

Troy is right. Hole #18 is going to be a parking lot. I'll do whatever the two teams decide on, but the East course is only going to have 8 playable holes?!?!?!?!

Jun 24 2004, 12:08 PM
With Permission of the Sir Vincent Miller Foundation

Yes, Troy-O (nice of you to take Jeff's name after the vows), the parking issue is something I was worried about. Basically, we could try to do the Waco thing and I'd be willing to be there, but it is possible that there will be cars in our way in many spots and that could be just as big a problem as the front 9 being pulled. I'm trying to get a hold of Mr. Harrell to get an idea of what kind of situation we would be looking at, since he has some experience with seeing how these races go down, attendance, areas that are impacted, etc.

The following non-shut donkey is brought to you exclusively by Sir Vincent Miller's expressed written consent.

Vincent Darwin, you really wanna play Woodway? Are you serious? You'd rather do that than try to work around the parked cars of your people on the back 9 of the Beast?

But it don't matter to me

Well if that's the case, then maybe we should do it in Burnet. If I remember correctly Vinnie really likes playing with monkeys there.

Seems to me that option #1 is leading the opinion poll right now, with the 2 rounds instead of a final 9 on the back being the popular alteration to it.

Is this accurate?

Actually, I'd have to say that is my pick also. I love the back 9 on that course as much as anywhere I play golf in Texas.

Just wanted to point out that my original thinking in suggesting this take place on the Golden Beast was something that I thought would be both centrally located and a challenge worthy of this type of match. Its still a great idea, but I want to be clear about one thing. Its is not the reason for the match, just the proposed locale.

The reason is because there was a bunch of jealous hillbillies that decided they were better than an organized team of truly sponsored golfers and said anytime, anywhere they could take us down.

I want these Jethro's donkeys shut and I want them shut now! Whenever, wherever, Team #3restinpeace is going down this weekend, and I don't mean on their cousins!

1st of all Troy-O, the bet which forced my silence was with Sir Vincent Miller, not with you. I'll climb back up my "quiet tree" when he says I have to, not when the red on your neck causes your chest to bow out.

Secondly, that's fine by me and maybe as you suggest, by later in the day we'll have less of the parked cars of your kind to deal with.

As for the temp basket you're wanting to bring, I assume you mean that we'll use that only in the event that #18 has cars parked on it. Is this correct?

And, if we can use #18, Gary can you set it up? I know that it has some landing zones that are unique to the Gold layout. Is anything back up in the jungle on the back 9 really any different?

Ok, here it is,

I am very disappointed in all team members on both sides. If you remember there is not a I in team. this was set up as a TEAM challange not a golden tooth challange. I have one team member that can't wait to play at a later date, and we need to think about that. also marka has a full schedule and after talking to him this is a perfect date for him, as well for myself.

I can't believe that there are a few members from both sides that commited to play this weekend and now are wanting to change it because they don't get to play the beast. I say shame on you, for being selfish. This is a TEAM Challange and it shouldn't matter where we play. Im just really ****** off.

and what about the people that paid for hotel rooms in advanced. i.e. Justin has a room at the hilton that he has already paid for.

I just can't believe the whiny babies are trying to ruin this for the rest of us that are commit to be there and play. people have made plans for this weekend and can't change them. shame shame

that is all for now im going to eat.

Just to let everyone know, we already had one sub for the challenge. Billy Nelson was already gonna be unable to make it, so I got a sub for him approved by the rednecks to fill his Advanced slot. I'd like to thank Gary Collier for stepping up to fill in for Billy.

We won't have a sub for Stephen. I understand Stephen's deal, BTW, since I have a kid myself and they are more important than us grownup people. His circumstances are completely understandable. He will be missed, as will Billy.

But the fun would be in watching them cuss the holes you helped to put in. :)

Jun 24 2004, 06:22 PM
Ok for those who are wanting to know.

Here are the matchups and tee times.

10:00 am tee off
Vinnie "the ape killer" Miller vs El chili dog
Shannon "I eat monkey brains for breakfast" Fosdick vs. John IwishIwasahero

10:10am
Patty "laying down the Law" Justice vs Nelle from "Whats Happening"
Bobby "I have apeheads hanging on my way" Logan vs Mark "can I throw poop in stead of my putter" Apewood

10:20am
Jeff "I wear ape skin shorts" O vs Justin "I use to be adv world chimp" Kerr
Mark "I killed 30 apes at once" Vargas vs Tony "I putt like marka" bender
Troy "I kill apes with my CANNON" Soules vs Gary " I role 200ft holes" Coiler

there you go.

as for the rules, There are no rules.
players be curtious to the other team, no yelling or poop flinging while the other is putting or throwing, but sly comments after team e hits a tree or misses a putt are acceptable. Ribbing is very acceptable. Just act like you want to be treated yourself.

now as for the gallorie, you may do as you wish, but there will be no impeading the putt or throw of a player in the challenge. Please stay to the side and not in the players direct path to the basket. but by all means yell at Team E and give them Hellll.

And just to be on the safe side if the is a tie after two rounds. there will be a final 9 match play round for the one member of both teams that scored the best for the day.

any other questions please feel free to ask.

I hope you have better judgment than to alter someone elses course without permission. I know Joey well enough that he would'nt approve.

Jun 24 2004, 07:17 PM
Oh well, with SB out - me being out didn't hurt the matchups... I'm sad though because I'm going to have to miss laughing my arse off by actually getting to see Mark Apewood's game up close.... oh well - I'm sure I'll hear the scoop... I'll be there for the re-match when Team e tries again....

Have fun!

Jun 24 2004, 07:21 PM
we are not going to alter any of the course we are just adding additional obs to make the holes harder. Im sure that gary has talked to joey since they are having the state rep challenge there in a few weeks. there will be no cutting of limbs trees or anything of the sort. Like I said just adding obs and teeing for alt placements. so don't worry about it.

This will be a total stroke play. after each round we will total all of the team members scores and at the end we will add both rounds together and the lower score will determine the winner(Team Rebels)

Hey Monkeys you better bring a real A game not your A(pe) game like you usual do.

Watch out John, Shannon is a local legend. Don't let him cheat or play those dirty-mind games of his?

.....not worried about Shannon. We've played enough golf together in the past, i know his tactics :DHowever, i am worried about finishing. I can't remember the last time i played 2 rounds in one day. Actually, i played the Z-Tx10 Arlington last weekend, but i'm not sure who that was playing for me during the first round. Whoever it was, they sucked it up! :D

Good thing it's total team strokes. Did you guys happen to see what "The Cannon that backfires frequently" shot during Waco Am's? a 79???? I hope that's a misprint because even Atwood beat that! :D

gnduke
Jun 25 2004, 12:40 AM
Of course I wouldn't alter anything without clearing it with Joey first. I just needed to check on a few places that might be overlooked in the usual mowing pattern, but important to the alternate holes.

Jun 25 2004, 01:20 AM
The course has well defined fairways and there is'nt any need for alternate holes. Play the course for what it's worth. Cameron Park East is maintained by locals. The locals take pride in the way Cameron Park East is maintained and is prepped when needed. For someone to come in and alter it in anyway (especially from out of town) would be a slap in the face to them, not to say it would'nt step on a few toes. W.A.C.O. has always been a well respect tournament because of Joey Harrell and the locals.

Jun 25 2004, 01:51 AM
John just so you know, the 79 I took was for the fact that I showed up 3 holes late for the tourny because My roommate Jeff O was in a car wreck that morning and I choose to be late so that I could help him with his truck and his stuff.

Steven, I am sorry that you will not be able to make it. I do wish that you would be there. But if I were in the same position I would choose spending an extra week with my son also. Family is more important that a bunch of over grown children competeing in a pissing contest. Have a safe trip and we will see you next time. You better get your arse up to the OKC so we can play a few tournys.

May everyone have a safe trip to WACO on sunday. Gods speed and safety.

The desire to add alternate holes is merely to have 18 distinct holes while playing half of the course twice. It is not a knock on the course. Just subtle changes to the feel of the holes and the shots required.

I had to pick one course in Texas on which to host the LSDGA Invitational, the event that will select the Texas State Rep and the LSDGA sponsored spot to the USDGC. I chose the Beast and left the majority of the course intact. That should give you some idea of what I think of the course and the people that maintain it. Very little rope is needed to emphasize the risk/reward options that already exist on that course.

For the LSDGA Invitational, I wanted to reproduce hole 17 from Rock Hill, that required changing the layout of 5-6-7. I added some length to hole 8, but would not recommend the redesign for regular play. I moved the tee for hole 1 to force a harder hyzer and demand more control on the drive. Very little else is changed except for adding OB to force the player to choose between playing safe or going for it and raising the cost of going for it and missing the shot. Joey was involved in deciding where the OB was going to be placed and where the new tees were going to be placed as well. We didn't always agree, but everything was gone over, and several of his suggestions were used over my original plans. But the course design I put together is for a very specific purpose, and would not work well for any other type of tournament.

This little tournament falls into the same category as the invitational where the course layout can be a little more than difficult. The layout is not a good course design for regular or recreational play and should not be seen as a statement of dislike or disdain for the existing course.

Just the fact that everyone involved with this little event doesn't want to play it anywhere else despite the conflict with the boat races should be taken as a compliment by everyone that has anything to do with the maintenance of the WACO courses.

A guy walks into a bar with his pet monkey. He orders a drink and while he's drinking, the monkey jumps all around the place. The monkey grabs some olives off the bar and eats them. Then grabs some sliced limes and eats them. Then jumps onto the pool table, grabs one of the billiard balls, sticks it in his mouth, and to everyone's amazement, somehow swallows it whole.
The bartender screams at the guy "Did you see what your monkey just did?"
The guy says "No, what?" "He just ate the cue ball off my pool table-whole!"
"Yeah, that doesn't surprise me, "replied the guy. "He eats everything in sight, the little b@st@rd. Sorry. I'll pay for the cue ball and stuff." He finishes his drink, pays his bill, pays for the stuff the monkey ate, then leaves.
Two weeks later he's in the bar again, and has his monkey with him. He orders a drink and the monkey starts running around the bar again. While the man is finishing his drink, the monkey finds a maraschino cherry on the bar. He grabs it, sticks it up his butt, pulls it out, and eats it. The bartender is disgusted.
"Did you see what your monkey did now?" he asks.
"No, what?" replies the guy. "Well, he stuck a maraschino cherry up his butt, pulled it out, and ate it!" said the bartender.
"Yeah, that doesn't surprise me," replied the guy. " He still eats everything in sight, but ever since he swallowed that cue ball, he measures everything first..."

I just got word that Team E was up by 4 strokes after the first round at Cameron Park. They are about to tee off at Cameron East and play the back 9 twice.

I was there this morning and it was a fun time. The weather was even bright and sunny.

There were even monkeys hanging from the rafters and the grill of Jeff's truck. I am sure he will post the pics somewhere.

The bet from both teams is this...the loosing team has to call the other team players by "Sir" etc for the next YEAR!

That's all I know.

Results are in...I will however let Mark post the scores if he makes it home in one piece.

However let me say that the 4 stroke lead by Team Evolution after the 1st round was nothing compared to the BLOWOUT WIN that one of these teams got. Which team blew out, which player blew up, any guesses? :D

Could be fun to watch the talk here in the morning.

39 Strokes!!!!

Now.......SHUT YOUR DONKEY!!!!!!!

Jun 27 2004, 10:25 PM
That's right ladies and gentleman, you read that correctly.

The "real" sponsored team of golfers (don't be a hata C-dub, let it go) destroyed the pretenders by 39 STROKES!

Don't be bringing that weak *** shtuff up in here unless you want it slapped.

Since their cousins weren't available today, the rednecks just plain went down! (And I don't mean like Cruzita on Vargas either!)

In case you're curious, which I know you are Ware, that's the right score for the second round, I really did smoke both Jeff-O and Troy the misfiring Cannon. :)

The course was in great shape, despite getting pounded by rain the day before, and the back of the Beast was showing its teeth. Playing that back 9 twice was quite an experience. At least you can usually get out in the air for half a round, but two circuits up in the trees was definitely taking its toll on all of us.

Especially on my good friend, and oldest son, Bobby Logan. We all took care of business today, but my destruction of Bob-O was brutal.

Speaking of taking care of business, I am so proud of Tony Bender that its not even funny. I told him at dinner last night, that all I wanted out of him was to beat Mark Vargas and shut him up. Well, he did. Mark, all that crap you've been talking about whooping up on Bender? I think you need some "quiet time" to reflect on that.

After being down to PJ by 4 after Rnd 1, Lady Vargas came back and showed her true championship colors.

While its true that I truly missed our two regulars that were absent (Stephen and Billy), what a player Gary Collier was for us today. Well done Sir, well done.

I'd also like to congratulate John My-Hero Maiuro, whose goal today was just to finish. Having not played 2 rounds of golf in one day in quite a while now that he's on daddy duty, he held his own with the CenTex hotshot Shannon, only falling by a stick on the day.

And speaking of a stick on the day, how 'bout those Masters? Vinnie Miller, who has talked more smack than even me (since he caused my temporary silence) fell to THE CHILE! Hey Vinnie, get used to it!

Also, big props to Justin Kerr, who depite the extra Long Island Iced Tea last night, showed Jeff-O exactly why he should remain an Am For Life!

Team Evolution, still kicking your [*****] since 2003!

Hey Hillbillies...Thanks for Coming Out. :D

Jun 27 2004, 11:09 PM
Very true, mate. I predicted right here on this thread that she'd beat Bobby straight up, but whipping Jeff-O and Troy on the Back of the Beast is quite something. :)

(Of course, they'd probably still rather drop a round to her than to me. Oh well.)

Nice job Team E!!!!!!! Never really had a doubt(sorry Vinnie ), but that was a true SPANKING :D I really have to give Mr Atwood props, everyone thought he would be the weak link, but he obviously played smart golf all day and kept his putts to a minimum  This whole challenge has been fun to follow and I am sure it will just get more interesting as the hillbillies get drunk tonight and want to try and make exscuses for their inept performance today. I'd hate to be Mr. Vargas right now.....that will be one long ride home :D

Jun 27 2004, 11:14 PM
Right on that, Gary. I spaced that ace in my previous posts.

We got together and all agreed to a $5 a head ace pot before the round and My-Hero took care of that on Cameron #13. WTG John!

What a day of DG Madness. Gary Duke and I drove down this morn and watched it happen. Close first round, but those two back-side beasts proved deadly to some. When that thing is turned into the gold toothed beast you better be on your game to shoot a low score.

Thanks to Gary for spotting me money for lunch and breakfast after we cut out and I left my money behind. Thanks to Martin T. and Mitch J. for the amenities. 8.1% beer is cool and should only be drunk that way :D

You didn't see every shot I threw with it! Its the only disc in my bag that when it does something great, I credit the disc, but when something bad happens it must've been me.

This is unusual, because with the rest of my discs, when something bad happens, it must be the discs fault. ;)

Thanks Laura!!! We had a great time!! It was a beautiful day in Waco and we played some great golf. What I thought were fireworks from the boat racers during the second round was actually the sound of the BLOW UP of Team R, especially Troy Souless and Jeff O'MyGod. I am very happy to say and put down in record that I did beat Jeff and I am more happy that I burst the bubble of Troy in the rounds at the Beast. I guess its only beastiality that hillbillies love, not the Beast. So thanks again guys for a wonderful time. Way to go TEAM E. And Team R, yall still have purrty mouths.

Jun 28 2004, 11:20 AM
Thank you Laura. All credit to my team, a great group of golfers and people.

Speaking of good golfers and good people, I'd like to let everyone know that Tony Bender is no longer a 1st alternate to the team. In a move that has been considered and discussed for the last couple of weeks, I'd like to welcome him to the team, full time. Tony's a great guy and always seems to be there for me when I need him. In addition, he's been playing his best golf ever. Welcome aboard and remember, Team E loves Houston! ;)

On a related note, thanks to Stephen for a little chat we had that helped me keep my focus for the team where it should be. I'm glad you're all happy with it, I know I am.

Now, since I'm working the "nice Mark" angle for a minute, sans smack, I wanna say something to the other team. Through this whole thing, Troy and I became friends and I'm happy about that. He's a good guy and he really worked hard to make this thing fun for everybody. Making t-shirts, handing out chirping monkeys to his teammates to be set off during the rounds, pulling up to the park yesterday with a monkey tied to the grill of his truck and all the extra effort he put into this for his team helped to make this a lot of fun. He's excused from not posting today, since he's in the process of being exiled to Okieland, but he'll remain a Texan, and a friend.

All the rest of the folks on that team were already friends of mine and this was a blast for me to be able to compete with such a great bunch of people.

As for the rest of them, however, we do need to hear from them on this thread. ;)

True, Troy and Jeff (and the rest of their team) were great sports before, during, and after. The concept was great and the event was fun. Hopefully this thing will take off and the ideas being kicked around will come to fruition and create a longstanding event of comraderie and competition in this team style format.

While I doubt Mark's sanity in naming me to the Team, I must thank him and say he's a great guy...err...whoops, wasn't supposed to say that. I'm honored to be onboard and look forward to representing the Team well at events.

And Mark Vargas, did you say something? I can't hear you.... :)

I just want to say we had a great day of Disc Golf watching, and spotting. Mark Atwood almost took a 2 on the East #14 I think, the one over the ditch. Wow, but he did get a 3. Congratulations Mark.

I want to say thanks to Gary Duke, Ray, Mark and Ginger Bowman, Martin Tasker, Mitch Justice, Joey and Chris Himing for all coming out to support this match up. It was really fun!!! Thanks again to Team R for being so much fun to play with. Also the hanging monkeys and little Zoe telling me her Mommy was going to spank a monkey and calling Atwood, Hackwood was hilarious. Almost as funny as yalls game. Thanks again!!!!!

I had almost forgotten about that shot. Mark had one of the best tee shots I have seen on 14 (the best I have seen from him for sure). A good 70' out of the tunnel and lined up in the middle of the gap looking at the basket maybe 120' away. He ran at it beautifully and missed the basket by less than a foot a little low and right. A tap in three is a good thing on Beast 14.

You know what was fun, it was making fun of bad shots, missed putts, and the treefence( that was the defence)blocked shots from the trees. I think it really got to Shanon and Jeff, Vinnie was good with it but it really got under Shannons skin, it tore-up Jeff. :D:D

Had a blast Sunday!!! Yes, it was true....all i wanted to do was finish. I haven't golfed all that much since Ryan's birth. In fact, i've only played in 4 one-day, 2 round events. So, finishing was my number one priority.

Thanks to everyone involved, Troy and Mark especially!! Thanks Joey, Harlen, Gary, Prairrie Dog, Tasker, Justice and The Bowman's for all of your help.

What do you mean he's not online Lady Danielle? He managed to find his way onto a computer when it was time to talk smack. What about when its time to eat crow?

Nice job Joe Bob Miller on being the only one of your team with the guts to get on here today. You're a standup redneck, like I've always said. :)

The scores on West seem awfully high. Did you guys make a gold course on West or was it just wet/sloppy conditions?

Jun 28 2004, 02:49 PM
Rocco, with the exception of the top Pro card in Rnd 1, everyone seemed to be playing so tight they squeaked when they walked, myself inculded. The courses was a little wet in places and a couple of boxes were a little slippery, but I think it had more to do with everyone being so uptight.

Didn't bother Perez, Mauiro, Miller and Fosdick, but everyone else was playing a little tentative.

The layout was normal and even in shorts on most holes.

highlights:

seeing that monkey on jeff o's front grill as he comes roaring into the parking lot blasting his horn

witnessing marka's 3 on #14 of the beast, followed by patty j's tee shot off the basket on #15.

hearing lil zoe scream, "HACKWOOD! HACKWOOD," and "TODAY IS SPANK THE MONKEY DAY!" she is 4. :)

On a serious note, thanks to all that made the drive. I am sure there was well over a combined total of 1000 miles drove to attend by each team. "Dedication and commitment"

Jun 29 2004, 11:22 AM
Couldn't agree with you more, V-man.

The schmack was the fuel feeding the motor, but the spirit of competition for no payout (except for Hero :) ) other than team pride and love of the game is what was driving the bus.

This was a great time had by all. Captains from both teams have been contacted by friends and acquaintences about fielding teams of their own. As I've stated in the past on this thread and to those people, this could be something that grows in time.

TTC is a geographically based team event, pitting cities and clubs against each other. I for one, don't want to see that format changed and believe that it instills a lot of local club pride in those areas which send teams to San Saba to compete.

However, I do feel that there might be a place for an event like this, where independtly sponsored teams and/or teams made up of good golfing buddies from around the state could get together and play one another.

I know both the Rebels and Team E would be interested in opening the Champions Cup Challenge up to all comers next year and seeing this fun format grow.

Maybe someone would even pick up Ware? :)
