Woo-hoo for you!

Now's the hard part: not pushing her so much to play more that she learns to hate the game.

My wife is a much better natural athlete than I am, and she could always play incredibly well for someone who only played 3 times a year.

"You're just saying that to get me to play more."

Well, I probably would. :) But it was true! Anyway, 5 years later she plays tounaments too, and that is sweet.

One of my boys in our Middle School disc golf club hit an ace during the CTP competition (for the ace money) on hole #1 at Alma, approx. 230' . It was great, everyone really made him feel good! And that is not bad for a 13 year old!!! Great Fun!!

Aces for all ages.
Love to hear it.
I got an ace on my fifth hole in a 40 hole local today. I knew I'd go home with cash (turned out to be $143), so I played loose the rest of the day and won Am Masters, too.
First tournament ace in like 20 years.

This should maybe be on the "nothing to boast about thread" but when I was 13 I aced a 310' hole and did not get the ace money. It was the TX state disc golf championships and the two years prior I payed my ace $$ and they gave it back saying"We were automatically in" but the year when two of us hit one we didn't get crap.

Today in our local monthly at Buckhorn i had a horrible round followed by a great round
I shot a 55 first round on the white tees rated at around 950
I shot a 50 second round from the blue tees rated at around 1050, this was with a 4 on a 162 foot hole and 2 missed 20 footers
so, only sort of a boast

I finally got the big '"W". At this weekends B-Tier in Atlanta.

After a disasterous start. +5 after the first four holes of the first round finishing with a +6 for the round and in 12th place. I picked away at the leaders. Shooting a 54 in the 2nd, a 48 in the 3rd to put myself 1 stroke from the lead. Started the 4th round with 5 dueces in 7 holes and never looked back. Struggled at the end but held on with a blazing hot 47 to win by two strokes.

Living up to what my signature says!

The thing is that to be four strokes better you can't just do it at 1 out of 10 events you need to do it 9 out of 10 :o:D:D

I cashed at the Tobbogan today with an advanced partner who I beat at Jackson yesterday. He is a great player, and maybe he carried the team, but we cashed on a playoff CTP and I parked it. I think also we used one of my throws during the round.

We will see when the ratings update comes out. I will have a lot of old rounds dropped, and my last two tournaments I have done really well in, and for the last 6 months I have played fairly consistent 930-950 golf with the exception of a few bad rounds. I may be in the mid 930's after December. So I will have to change my signature then. :D

I agree, the two out of my three best tournaments this year were after I had not picked up a disc besides putting practice during lunch hour at work for an entire week.

Perhaps I will take time off before big tournaments from now on out.

But for the next 2.5 months it is dark before I get off of work so I cannot play but on the weekends. Perhaps I will be a top pro by next season! HA! Yeah right!

If I did not play when it was 90+ and humid I would only get to play 3 months out of the year. March, April, and October. May-Sept it is hot and humid, November-Feburary it is dark.

I look to my right, and Da Coach was sitting next to me... after a long conversation, he proceeded to buy (for all five of us)for the rest of the night, right up until we threw him into a cab. nice guy. nice very intoxicated guy. his signature cigars were a perk. that same night, rolly fingers stole our cab.

The first shot that has to qualify as most memorable was on the 7th hole at Pomona Ks. There was a group of 15 or so golfers gathered for a 5 dollar a man glow doubles event. My partner and I were down two strokes going into the 7th and the team leading was parked. Hole 7 is a 275-300 foot shot that is mostly open with a few trees on the right. I took my Buzz with the glowstick taped on top and very neatly crashed a perfect lined hyzer into the heart of the basket for an ace . It was the coolest thing I had ever seen I was using a red LED light and you could see the thing glowing in the basket. After some celebration and a few five dollar bills slipping into my wallet I took the tee on the 8th hole a 325 foot hole that is guarded by ob right and long with a large tree that blocks a straight shot. I took my kc tee bird and fired it low and just right of the tree as soon as I let it go I knew it had a chance. I just heard one of the other guys say two in a row as that sweet sweet sound of disc hitting chains violently came to my ears . and again you could see it in the hoop. needles to say that is how my partner and I made up two strokes in two holes even though the leaders birdied both holes . I had to post this I have never heard of anyone getting back to back aces and the fact that I did it at night well... Oh yea and if you happen to know the kanoli's well let me just say this was at there event so concentration was out of the question and there were 14 other people that were just in awe... ok 15 I was pretty amazed.

I have been playing disc golf for over 28 years now and have racked up my fair share of aces, but as of 2 months ago, I have never cashed on one. Soooooo.... I of course complain about always paying into the ace pot for our local minis, but never collecting and then last month we were playing a small mini and I hit my first "paid" ace. We then built the pot up a bit and I hit it again. So for the last month I have been complaining about never hitting a tourney ace.

Yesterday my card steps up to throw on our second to last hole. I was getting the scores and mentioned that this was the last aceable hole for the tournament. I was not having a good weekend. My putting was off and I seemed to have little control of my drives. I was in dead last and so far out the only way I was making the cash was if all the players ahead of me dnf'd. So I step up to make my throw, thought through what it would take to hit the basket and nailed it for my first tournament ace. I went from hating this game to thinking it was not so bad in one throw.

That's right...you had better make sure that you are 100%. :o

Especially since the only time that you have taken my money this YEAR was in doubles with a partner who had never seen blackhawk before. :p

Not true, I have taken your money at McClure and BH this year. Sorry to burst your selective memory bubble. :p

Nope, I don't remember either of those...sorry.

But, I would love to get you out on the ball golf course and spank you around like a Titliest!

As I mentioned before, selective memory. :o

Well since you can't do it on a disc course, then I'll probably have to oblige you for the round of ball golf, so that you can feel better. :D

Maybe you'll trust me in the future, unlike your beleiving me about Golden State. :D

I'm an 880 rated player, and I have never finished in the cash in AM1 and according to the Associaiton's guidelines should not even be playing in that division. All of that changed on Sunday (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=8095&year=2008&incl udeRatings=1#Advanced) I shot 2 rounds well over my rating and took 2nd place, winning 4 Innova Star Discs and 1 Innova Pro Disc. Hooray Me!

Nice! Working tomorrow, or taking a 4+ day weekend? The reason i ask is b/c Amy and i went to RadioHead a few Sunday nights ago and i decided to go into work the next morning. Bad idea, it was just a blur. I actually didn't feel normal(by my standards :D) until Wednesday. Now why even have concerts on Sunday nights?

i saw modest mouse sunday and was useless at work on monday until mid-afternoon or so, i don't think it was the concert so much as the draft beer.

I'm boasting on behalf of my youngest son (17). On Monday, at Montiel Park doubles, he and his partner set a new course doubles record of -17! He hit basket on hole 6 long and chains on hole 8 short! Then on Tuesday, he and his partner set a new course doubles record at Emerald Isle, -15! He was hitting putts all day, both days! Rock on, Tommy! Soon he will be (almost) as good as his brother, CENT!

PROUD FATHER ALERT!!!

Future World Champion Lorelei Johnson #13697 gets her first PDGA sanctioned tournament WIN in a juniors event yesterday!

Not enough PDGA players to get a Official rating (only 8 played the same pads, with only 2 being PDGA members - neither with ratings to be a gator) but would be unofficially be about 600  based on a 1000 rated player being able to shoot a 41-42 on the course.

New Calm Keith leads for 53 out of 54 holes at an A-Tier event shooting ~1050 & ~1020 rated rounds, losing on the last hole with a bogey (on a par 4 hole) that I had birdied and parred the other 2 rounds. Was 7th out of 29 overall pros behind 6 ~1000 rated golfers, while out scoring several other top pros and 1000 rated guys!
3 weeks of the new Calm Keith and I haven't not won money in the 7 times I've played Events or doubles rounds. 1 more PDGA Event this weekend in Vegas, and then 4-5 non-sanctioned local/fundraiser Events in '08 to test the theory.
So far, so good. :D

Please tell us your secret to success. New Calm Keith? Did you give up the Pepsi completely or just cut back to only a dozen or so per day?

No Pepsi during rounds, MP3 player EXTREMELY LOW or not on at all, but earbuds in, and not getting excited by great shots or aggravated at bad shots - I aced and no one knew, took a double circle seven and no one knew(until after the round). Staying level emotionally seems to be the biggest help, because I always believed I could make any shot, but getting angry when missing ruined the rest of the round, where now I just go to the next shot and believe I can make that shot, and so on.

Thanks for your support and hopefully you'll get to see it in real life soon.

Keith
