Thats not an easy ace if your right handed, great job. The closest I have been to an ace at Keriakes is #7 (downhill turn over behind the tree). Landed 6ft behind the basket. Never officially had an ace, a couple of fairway aces and chain hits, but nothing from the box.

#7 at Keriakes would be a great ace. I came very close on that one the other day. I've also come very close on #11 at Keriakes. I normally throw a couple on that hole, hopeing for another ace.

I just got my first Ace ever yesterday, and it was on the first throw of the day. Hole #2 George Ward Park, at the Tax Tourney B-Tier. It was 332 feet long, and behind left of a large oak tree. Threw a Z-Talon, skipped it about 10ft in front of the basket and WHAMO! Everybody around was ticked off untill they found out I was not in the ace pot. During the day I had another 340ft uphill chain it, solid but it did not stick, and a 310ft turnover shot that moved the chains slightly but went 35ft past the basket. Of course the tournament ace curse got me. Immediately following my ace I went OB 7ft up a tree, and took a double bogey and shot a terrible round +3 (912 rating). Followed it up with a -3 (941) to barely finish in the Advanced cash 8th (tie).

Yesterday at Hudson Mills League a person in my group hit dead center and bounced out on hole 3 then later that round I hit dead center and spit out the back. I think if one of them would have stuck it would have been about a 150 dollar ace

Yesterday during our Handicap round, just as it was my turn to tee on hole #15, DeLynn drove up in the street by the tee box. I had just birdied #14, so smiling real big, I asked her if she would like to see an ACE! I threw my 86 Softie and it made the most perfect turn, hit the chains, and bounced out! No ACE but it was still pretty cool.

About not being in the Ace Pot....

I have a terrible mental game. If I start thinking too much or stressing out my game turns to crap, hence the reason I am still in advanced. Getting into the ace pot gives me one more thing to think about. Instead of trying to land within 10-30ft of the basket depending on distance, I think of trying to get that ace.

The less pressure the better. Take for instance this tournament this weekend on my home course. I normally shoot 4-6 down on avg out there. Well alot of people including my coach was talking about how I should win. So there was alot of pressure for me to win, then on the first throw of the day I hit my very first ace. My mental game went to crud. I have another one in two weeks at home, but on a harder configuration. Maybe I should do better.

At Bowling Green Am's, Saturday during the third round at Keriakes, I was teeing off on #11 with a 35mph head wind. I took a CFR Starfire. threw almost a knife hyzer down the left side and it flipped over to the right side of the fairway and rolled 20ft short of the basket! But I hit the cage on my putt. A 20ft 35mph head wind putt is not easy.

Top round for the cut. Have the butcher slice 2 pounds a 1/4 inch thick.

Then at home slice it into bacon size pieces. Apply cure and seasoning. Cure for 24-36 hours in fridge. Put in dehydrator for 24 hours or until ready. Mmmmm...Mmmmm...Good! :p

Not a boast, per se, but a fun story.

Two newbies (with lids and a shark) were wandering around on one of my local courses (#7 Lakewood, Seattle) trying to see the basket from the tee, apparently lost. I walk up to the tee (I was doing something other than playing, I forget what). They said they were a little lost and I said I'd help them thru the four holes or so (where it was a little confusing).

So they said 'where's the basket' and I said that it's straight down the tunnel and down the hill about 250 feet, it's just that there's a bush hiding the basket. They didn't get what I said for some reason and they're rubbernecking and jumping and etc. So I said 'here just watch this' and threw a comet straight at the basket. Then I said 'see that's just the line you want, that's going straight for the basket. Hear the chains? That might even be an ace. Sure enough it was.

Then one of the newbies (armed with lids) said "I don't think we wanna play with you." But they did after all (he was sorta kidding).

Like most people, my aces are almost always accidental: in other words, I'm usually just trying to hit the path right and get close, and then it goes in. My go-for-it ace runs often look like they're going in, but I never seem to get the love.

I was just trying to create a conversation. It was my 114th ace. I had been working on the course all day and it took about 5 holes to recover from saw-arm. Then I aced on a freshly cleared blind hole. See what a little course work can do for you.

There you go again claiming to be the best JV player.

Only in Disc Golf will you will see this kind of MULARKY !!!

I never remember in High School hearing the guys on the JV basketball team talking any noise about how good they were. You know why? Because they knew they stunk like a ran over skunk on the highway in southwest Arkansas. Thats why they were on Junior Varsity team. You are playing the JV division therfore your just like that poor skunk decapitated with a few limbs spralled all over the highway. MILLS YOU STINK!

:D

(public service announcement) .... Not everyone stinks that plays JV....ONLY THE ONES THAT TALK Shi+ & BELIEVE THEY ARE THE GREATEST JV PLAYER! :o

Yes, isn't the title "Amateur World Champion" an oxymoron? Thats like saying, "I am the best of the worst!" and not being sarcastic.

As of MY BOAST. I finally made the leader card for the first time in advanced. 1 stroke from first entering the final round. However I blew up big time and fell to 6th. But now at least I have been there and know I can get there again.

It's just over 100ft that's why I throw a 150Flick. It's about 240ft and a blind left turn. I can yawn and toss the Flick out of sight around the corner and wait for the skip. I'm not sure how I missed it today in our tourney. I think someone moved it about a foot left.

A couple of weeks ago I posted about getting my first ace after playing for a year with numerous basket hits. then I played a round on the gold course today, well, sort of a round. we all got disctracted and started throwing multiple shots around the quarter mile hole...

anyway, started my round off, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie. of course I proceeded to throw my Starfire in the water on an easy shot to the green on the water hole... but I ended up with a circle 6.

nothing else interesting about the round though. it was a beautiful day out there. about 72, not humid and about a 5 mph wind. Gorgeous.

Weird how everyone still refers to the 1038' Monster hole as a par 3.

There's even the guy whose user name is "PardTheMonster." That is the only time in history that anyone has ever threed it, right? How can you call that score par when only ONE person in history has ever achieved it?

While that is the accomplishment of a lifetime, his user name should be "EagledTheMonster."

It may be considered a par 3 on the scorecard but when I step up to play that hole I consider it a PAR 5!!! And I play it accordingly. If it had a true par then I would have birdied it the other day :D

MTL21676
Jun 01 2005, 05:25 PM
par doesnt matter.

Whether you call a hole like a par 3 or a par 5, your score is still going to be the same on it.

All par is, along as it is relative, is an easier way to keep score

rhett
Jun 01 2005, 05:48 PM
Par matters when you are late to a tourney.

Par should matter when you are playing a new course, to see how you did. I can tell when I am playing well or no, so par doesn't really matter for that with me. If I shoot a "6 over" and I know I was playing well, then it is a pretty tough course.

But it matters a lot when someone is late.

Boast - I will hit 4 aces in 72 PDGA sanctioned holes the weekend of June 11 & 12th. That'll be a new record for one tourney. TaDow!!!

Goby had two aces in one tournament Saturday at the Pillage with one disc. Both times he stepped up to the tee saying, "I think I'll just go straight at it this time." I was so moved by the experience I grabbed a quarter-toss basket out of the car and trophy-ized it for him. This way he can keep that magic disc in the bag and put the quarter-toss basket on the shelf.

Jun 05 2005, 12:58 PM
That was a cool thing to do.

I still can't believe he missed that putt because he deserved to win because he just out golfed me. Then again he did have a disc fall out of a tree when we got to it, three drives that were going OB and then kicked back in so maybe I don't feel sooooo bad. :D:D

I've been getting aces again. I left a Flash on our course and one of the locals let me have his beat up one. I aced on the first throw with it. Last weekend I lost my Ace Race Glide and I replaced it today. I got my 118th ace with the new Glide today. Maybe tomorrow I'll get me another.

Yesterday, while moving baskets.

I shot a -2 on our front nine with a beat to death 180g KC Roc. On a few notable holes, 370ft slight uphill hyzer fade, 340ft up hill hard left hook, and a 550ft flat hole. Both holes I took a 3 on. Normally with a full arsenal I will shoot -1 to -3. One the 9th hole. 270ft with a 50ft rise in elevation, I turned to my playing partner and said "This is the longest 270ft hole ever" Threw the disc, then missed the ace by inches.

I would def be there but you guys changed it to a three day tourney. That killed your out of state travlers. I cant afford to take an extra day off work. Plus I got a B tier an hour away from home. Then a B tier at Zeb the next weekend. Good luck to you and Cam.

I just wish there was a two-day PDGA event closer then 6 hours from here more then 3 times a year. And a one day event closer then 4 hours away, 6 times a year.

Maybe things will change once the NDGC opens up, but as of now the South is not a Disc Golf Mecca.

Come on, Tulsa has 12 courses and Birmingham has 1! :p
