I shot a 910 rated round round at Cameron East from the longs (subtracting 1 stroke off the SSA because of the use of #4A, instead of regular #9). I bet that's the best round ever shot on that course from the long tees by an 840 rated player. /msgboard/images/clipart/proud.gif

Mark,
I am not really sure what I shot as far as a rated round, because I don't know how to figure the numbers.. But, for an 888 player rating.. My last couple of Waco events have been pretty all-right... Waco #1 was my most impressive tourny.. With a 46 on Cameron and a 58 onthe Beast.. Waco #2 was crap, I did not deserve to win but.. Hey I'll take it.. 51 on Cameron and a 59 on the Beast.. I definately plan on cashing in the Pro Final.. I am stoked..

The Final in the Advanced division will also be some good competition.. Me, you and Kerr should be a fun weekend..

VPO Pro weekend is Nov. 8-9
PT, the way I figure it, your last 2 rounds on the Beast at ZT10 rate out at about a 980 and a 960 (subtracting a stroke from the course SSA for the shorter #4a this time instead of #9).
Not too shabby...for a JV player. /msgboard/images/clipart/proud.gif

Mark,
I was just curious how the pro's did at the Waco Charity Event..So I checked and "if" I took my last two t10 waco events and compared those 4 rounds to thier 4 rounds, I would be around second place..Of course that was just "if".. But I had one solid round and one not-so-solid round.
I love the Waco courses and that could have something to do with it.. I just play well there.. Ok I am done with my BOAST.. Open Pro's..watch out.. I'm comming..

Well, not to rain on your parade or anything PT but, the wind was really high at the pro weekend of Waco. You can't compare the scores.
Actually, The WCO Pros had terrible wind conditions on Saturday and virtually ideal conditions (water was a smooth as glass) on Sunday. I was the Staff member on that course all weekend and I'd say that the weather conditions on Sunday were as good as you're likely to get 'em. I'd also say that the wind conditions for your 59 on Saturday at ZT10, were fairly identical to WCO Pros Sunday round. If you'd like a comparison, that one would be as fair as you can get...without having to feel the pressure of a Pro card. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

We already call Kelly Ganzel "Odd Man". That's why I chose to use "Cali"./clipart/wink.gif
Thats funny cause I started playing in cali and we always called it odd man, also we had the standard ace rule that if someone aces everyone pretty much gives him a dollar. Then I moved to Wa. and everyone was calling it Cali (oddman) and cali acepot if there wasn't a official acepot.

Got my second ace on Saturday. Calvert hole #2 Red to A pin. Threw a 175 Roc. Got some tree love as the shot hit a branch hanging over the pin and dropped in, all bucket no chains. Felt great! I went on to shoot my best round ever, 47. I can't wait for my next one. Nothing feels better than seeing your shot go in.
I'm not so muuch boasting as I am exulting and reflecting. On Saturday I palyed a couple of rounds at the Hambrick course in Columbus, OH, after taking most of the summer off because of foot and back problems. Although my foot still hurt just a little bit, I just HAD to play...
My first round I did OK, but sprayed too many shots into the trees and bushes. For the second round, I decided to just to try to play within my limitations. I did not try to drive as far as I could, rather I tried to keep my drives in play. I concentrated my efforts on my upshots, and made some good ones. My putting was also pretty good -- not great, but pretty good, and I felt comfortable putting. I missed a few I should have made, made a few I did not expect to make, and my safe drives and good upshots kept me in good shape throughout the round.
When all was said and done, I had shot a 57 from the short tees for 18. Now, that is hardly a world-class score, but the point of all this is that my personal best is a 56. By playing within myself and trying to be aware of my physical limitations, I shot a really good round that was just pure pleasure. The beauty of the morning added to my joy. What a wonderful game this is!

Here's an interesting set of rounds. Last Monday I played Winthrop Gold for the first time ever and shot an 87 ( 19), my highest score ever on a course with baskets. About an hour later, on my way home to Wilmington, I stopped and played Dickerson Park in Monroe, where I proceeded to shoot my lowest score ever, a 46 (-8). Just an odd, unplanned coincidence. Anyone have any similar days?

Probably the Friday after Thanksgiving.
I hit a 100-ft upshot at Hoover/Hambrick last Saturday. (Of course, if I did not have such a weenie arm, I would not have had so long a second shot...) Threw my Z Wasp low and to the right of the basket, and it hyzered and climbed for a perfect dive-bomb finish right smack into the middle of the chains. CHINGG!!! Was playing with four other guys at the time which made it all the more sweet. (Oops, I almost forgot to mention that I then I bogeyed the very next hole...)

...and I'm officially an ADDICT now...COOL!!
Hot diggity, I have something to post here finally!
I got a 3 on hole 14 at FDR park in Yorktown Heights, NY this weekend. The hole is about 685 or so, slightly downhill on the first half, and slightly uphill for the 2nd half. Threw a pretty good beast off the tee then put a valk to about 25 feet and canned the putt.
I don't think it's all that impressive to most, but if you've seen me throw, you would understand why I'm boasting!
:D :D

seriously...congrats..keith
Ouch, Keith!
It's 685 'sign on the post next to the tee' distance, which means it is probably just a good guess by Bill Newman :D
Ever since the Innova clinic at NY States by Brinster, McRee, and Schweb I have been throwing better. Brinster gave me a few pointers and I guess I actually listened for a change. I guess I got tired of people saying "Gee, you are tall and lanky, why do you throw like such a wuss?" :)

I aced hole 1 at Johnson street park(JSP), High Point NC, birdied hole two, then ACED hole three, 5 under after 3 holes, yes i have a witness. Second, Aced hole 6 at JSP, the aced hole 10, the second time I got two aces in one round. I couldn't believe it, This happened about 5-6 years ago when i was new to the game, and it hooked me hard.

Dillards is for the "established wealth" type person. IE, middle aged male with a boat who thinks he's hot stuff. I prefer "young wealth" stores.
Chris Hysell
Mar 15 2004, 09:13 PM
Sorry Jed, no boat for me but I sort of fit the bill. I am middle aged with a sports car but I only wear Levis and my shirts either say Nike or Discraft. The only thing I buy from Dillards is shoes.
Yes, Dillards works well for shoes. I think they're one of the few department stores that carries Steve Madden. My two favorite "young wealth" styled stores are Express Men and Banana Republic. While they're not terribly expensive, they are good for the metrosexual look which I am so fond of. I'm like 75% metrosexual...I don't call my gel "products", and I don't use skin creams. I like this defintion right here:
"A man who is so girly he claims - without reservation - that the obviously pink shirt he is wearing is really "PEACH" as he huffs and taps his foot with his hand on his hip."
Although this one more accurately describes it: "Defining a straight man who is very in tune to hip, urban lifestyle. He is immaculate in his appearance and doesn't mind spending huge amounts of money on clothing and shoes as well as skin and hair products. He also may spend large amounts of time in a gym or health facility because of his obsession with his body. Although he is straight, his trendy, stylish appearance may be more closely associated with that of a *** male."
Those who don't "get it" would define one like this: "A pathetic loser who has fallen into the consumer trap of thinking that he needs ultra-expensive but utterly useless skin care\hair care products and has a taste in clothing that would make a circus clown blush with embarassment."
*strolls away to browse in the nearest Louis Vuitton store*
It's a messenger bag, a messenger bag. Purse is such a harsh word. :D
The third definition is most accurate.
You carry a purse
Does that mean I don't get it?

Got my 2nd ace in 2 days on the 224' Hole 3 of Pamperin park here in Green Bay, WI. Before those 2 I only had 5 in my first 3 years of play. This was my first sidearm one and it was with a Monster. My ace yesterday was with the one and only First Run Z Buzzz. These last two broke my 4 ace streak with Rocs. <font color="blue"> </font>
Got my first ace ever today!! #13 at Blendon Woods, a 195' hole. Nailed the chains dead center, good thing too because my disc was probably going to go 30' past the hole. I got it with my First Run Z-Buzzz. Changed my entire round...before that, I was shooting 2 over par, after the ace my game picked up and I finished 4 under with a 59.

i totally agree. not to start this argument with anyone, been there done that a million times, but an ace is a bad shot that got lucky enough to go in. unless youre throwing for aces at an ace race, or you are shooting so poorly, thats the only way you are gonna cash, then might as well go for it. but nonetheless, aces are fun, everyime i haev had one, everyone else is way more excited about it then i am.
nice ace though scooter.
westa, i see a conventional ace comin your way. :D
I felt it was a good shot :) The fact is, it was probably the most pure, perfect shot I've ever thrown. That's why it went so far, I usually come up short on 180' holes with my Buzzz...to have it basket high at 195' was amazing.

I don't agree with that statement at all. For example...my ace with the monster came in the basket hyzer. If it would've missed it still would have been within 15' of the hole. Another example is a skip in I had with my Roc on a 225' hole. It skipped and DROPPED in like a putt, not slammed in. I agree that aces that go straight into the chains (I had a few with Rocs) might have ended up 25-30' past the basket. That does not mean that they are terrible shots though. For me a 30' putt is pretty routine anyways. I have about a 50-50 make rate from there. Bottom line is, not all aces are bad shots. An ace is a beautiful and rewarding thing, not something to cut down on. Especially for a person who just got their 1st.

I banged metal twice in one round Saturday at the ElDo monthly. First one was hole 3, with a nice CE Aero anhyzer out over the street and back. It was perfect and crushed chains and got as much metal as you can get and not stick. Bounced out and I sank the 20 footer for birdie. Second one was my last hole, hole ten. Brand new Roc with sweet-feeling release that just jammed down the fairway and kicked over stable at the perfect time. Kah-DANGGGG off the yellow chastity belt!
Found out after the round there was like a $250 ace pool! Dang it!

no one ever said that an ace was a terrible shot. i am simply trying to make a point, as well as agree with someone else, that it is a mistaken shot. while on the teepad and getting ready to drive, you are trying to throw a good shot and get close to the pin, not throw one in. therefore, when it goes in, in this situatiion, it is a mistaken shot. but hey, theyre fun, and the more the merrier, right?

My appoligies for jumping on this thread. Just wanted to add something on this ace thing. I still like trying for a hole-in-one
every once in awile. When playing in tournaments though, going for birdies is the way to go. True , when my game is taking a dive and I want to release some frustration without disturbing the rest of the group by swearing or something, I'll focus my drive on one of the next holes and try and draw metal. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Sometimes it works ( over 530 total currently )
and other times I could be 30-40 feet past and end up with something worse. Going for a Hole-in-one is a blast :D
I have even called a few as well as others calling them on me.
Playing for almost 30 years kind of makes me one of the dinosaur kids/old school players who have seen some of the most outrageous ,Unbelievable most remarkable shots this sport has produced. There is probably thousands of shots I haven't seen that would blow people's mind.
Someone told me long ago that " In is In". I have seen roller aces; Ace's that macked or bounced off of trees and have gone in ; Ace's that bounced off of car's and building's as well as people that were standing too close to the basket :o That was an accident by the way  I did appoligize for that one. :( It's all good though. Providing the folks pay you when you do happen to get one. If you witness a hole-in-one in your group or you get one, I was told that person gets $5.00 from each player in the group and $1.00 from the rest of the players in the tournament.Just a dollar during regular play though. Some people pay even more if sidebets are involved. :D
Always pay up. It's good karma. Sometimes a Hole-in-one can pay for your tournament entry fee if enough golfers play.
Sorry about sidetracking on this ace/birdie thing.
For myself though , this has happened more than a few times.
Have fun out there and let me know the next time if or when you get a hole-in-one in a tournament
Getting late ,got to go. Thanks for your time in reading my ramblings. Maybe I'm to pasionate about this sport.
p.s. - I was also told that going for a Hole-in-one is an accident waiting to happen. An overthrown shot where the basket got in the way of the disc going long.
My only bummer ace runs are the one's that bounce out :(
Oh well..............life goes on and we keep playing till we wear our good shoes out. Baby needs a new pair of shoes.

You people always go back to the "aces are bad shots" discussion. I guess I will explain it again. Aces aren't bad shots. Ace RUNS are bad shots ONLY if you can't putt or don't know how to throw a forehand or backhand hyzer shot. And you still can't putt.

You people always go back to the "aces are bad shots" discussion. I guess I will explain it again. Aces aren't bad shots. Ace RUNS are bad shots ONLY if you can't putt or don't know how to throw a forehand or backhand hyzer shot. And you still can't putt.
Stuck on #108.

;) I AGREE ;)
Opps.................... maybe I said too much in my post.
There are so many variables on shot execution , I may have spoken out of text. :o

I have to brag about another player. While we were warming up for the Central Valley Series Finals at Fresno, Mike Mattos from Visalia throws a thumber at a 267 foot open hole. It went right through the top of one of those open Innova Disc Catchers. It hit nothing but the inside of the chains and held for an ace!!! It was awesome. I gave him $5, but it took me 5 minutes to convince him to take it. It was totally worth it. I like those baskets with the slits in the top...KL That's also the second time I've seen Mattos ace with a thumber at a CVS event(non-sanctioned).

Dischick,
Thanks for helping out a struggling economy out here in Kalifornia by drinking Sierra Nevada (Chico water)! :D
And yes, ace runs are more fun!! If it goes in, you can say you planned it.
