I am suppose to get paid $7 an hour for the 14 hours I was there today.
We had 18 people vote in person today. :D
I really got to know James Beverage, my Election Judge today. We agreed on just about everything but the Iraq War.
Even then he stated we went in there wrong.
We even both agreed the Texas GOP platforms wording is harmful and hateful on the subject of homosexuality. (you can read it on TexasGOP.org)
He was on the Resolutions committee, but was out voted on resolutions that covered this subject.
BTW, the candidate I supported in the run off election today won our polling site by a very large margin. He only got 14 of the 18 votes and our party administrator said he is getting similar reports from other polling locations.
BTW, I did not do this for the money, I did it to help out the Republican Party in Denton Co to show them I am here and will help out.

I'm pretty sure that folks in Texas have heard this story. But I see no one is talking about it.
What did McCain call these people? Let me remember.... oh yeah "God's children." Ah yes, we all love God's children!
Here's the story:
This story is emerging from Athens Texas where 13 year old Melanie Bowers was choked and had her face slammed into a brick wall for bringing in a class assignment that read "If you love your nation, stop illegal immigration"
She was surrounded by a mob of Latino students that either were illegal aliens, in illegal alien families, or supportive of illegal immigration and attacked.
The attackers also threatened to drag her into the bathroom, rape her, and stab her to death.
If you are relying on the Associated Press out of Dallas, TX to feed this news to you across the nation, they describe the incident as a "scuffle" where "Verbal insults" were used.
ALIPAC will be demanding that the school suspends all students involved in this attack, that local police file charges against all involved in the attack, and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement determine the legal status of the assailants and their parental guardians in order to enforce immigration laws applicable to any involved.
This is the United States of America. This is not Mexico. In our nation, we do not use terror tactics to suppress free speech and violate the civil rights of American citizens by attacking children as a mob!
You can help us by taking action.
Please use the FORWARD feature at the bottom of this email to distribute this news.
Please review the news articles, including the biased Associated Press article.
Please watch the news coverage, vote five stars, make a comment (No foul language or violent posts allowed) and ad this video to your favorites to help ALIPAC spread the word and demand justice!

For those who haven't heard. The girl made the whole story up. Apparently created her own injuries to get attention, to stir up the kind of reaction we saw here, or for who knows what reason. This is what often happens when bigots inflame the masses.
ALIPCA has posted their retraction. I personally have been helping out friends who have grandparents, sisters and pets all dying so that has taken precidence over coming to this board. I DO have a life outside of the pdga.
Their retraction:
While the young girl in Texas made up or embellished her story and lied to authorities, she did accurately portray a story that is repeated daily in America. Each day, innocent Americans are threatened, assaulted, and actually raped and murdered by illegal aliens and their supporters.
ALIPAC collects reports about these incidents that actually do occur on almost a daily basis.
We circulate these news reports because unlike crimes committed by Americans, almost all crimes committed by illegal aliens occur because the government is failing our citizens and failing to enforce laws designed to protect us from criminal acts of illegal aliens.
While many of these stories sound sensational, they should!
It is absolutely outlandish that Americans are suffering from this rising lawlessness and anarchy in our nation. We do not have to stand for it and we will not stand for it.
It is necessary for ALIPAC to circulate these stories because the corporate media is notorious for censoring these stories or blocking them from national exposure.
It is necessary for ALIPAC to circulate these stories because of the left wing extremists that actually support illegal aliens coming to America and being able to rape, rob, and pillage without hindrance or deportation!
Here is another breaking story from Rhode Island. We have no shortage of stories coming in from across America that show the mob mentality and barbarity exemplified by many illegal aliens and their supporters.
From this point forward, we will be using the terminology "illegal aliens and their supporters" for two reasons.
One, it often takes us a great deal of time to wrestle the immigration status of perpatrators from the authorities.
Two, it is obvious in many of these stories that the suspects are either illegal aliens or supporters of illegal aliens.
Three, the supporters of Amnesty, open borders, and illegal aliens share the blame for these crimes.
It is time for us to start including the illegal immigrant supporters for their culpability as accessories to these crimes against Americans.
Our opposition is fighting on the side of dangerous gangs and criminals while ALIPAC is fighting to save American lives that can be protected if the government enforces the laws of the people.

I have 2 questions for all of you pro-amnesty folks:
1) Do you have a gate/fence around your property? Or live in a gated community. If so, WHY?
2) Do you lock your doors at night? If so, WHY?
I would sincerely ask these 2 specific questions be answered.

I dont like the illegals anymore than you do but Im not going to stand in the pool of hate and misrepresentation that you appear to be swimming in.
Our law makers in Oklahoma did something about it but now its being challenged legally and may not stand. What are the law makers in your state doing about it because the states that are passing legislation could use a little help from a big cutting edge state like California. You think I like driving around in neighborhood where all the business names are in Spanish? Are there any Wal-Marts out there that people refer to as the Mexi Wal-Mart?
I asked if you had legal assistant certification out there because I guess I expected a more professional argument from you but you just sound bitter. I guess if I lived in LA I would be also. We have a TD here that used to preach peace, love, and DG. He is in his fifties and we used to refer to him as Brother Love. Now all he seems to do is spent his time emailing all his friends with whatever true or false information about illegals he finds on the internet. Seems like Brother Love as turned into Brother Hate. :(
To answer your questions
<font color="red">Do you have a gate/fence around your property? Or live in a gated community. If so, WHY?
</font>
Ive got a fence around my backyard only. I come home sometimes and find the neighborhood kids have snuck in and are putting at my DG basket. I dont know if they are illegal or not but they putt better than I do.
<font color="red"> Do you lock your doors at night? If so, WHY? </font>
Dont you?....There are more legal criminals out there then there are illegal, only the legal ones can find lawyers to get them off. The illegals just run back to Mexico. I'm all for a crack down but I'm just not going to base it on what ALIPAC reports.
You shouldnt consider my comments as a personal attack on you and if you do I apoligize. I just dont care for the lawyer & legal assistant profession in general. I know there are probably some good ones out there but I just haven't met any yet. ;)

<font color="red">Your apology is accepted. I posed the question to the pro-amnesty people but obviously they see my point and have not responded. We all lock our doors at night - to keep out felons. Most of us have fences around our yards too - to keep out unknowns and possibly dangerous people as well, citizens and non-citizens. The answer is obvious. I'm just trying to make a point here that fences are put up for a reason and so are locked doors. We all do it. I just want to see a fence around this precious country of ours before it goes completely in the toilet. We're about 75% in the toilet already and I'm not afraid to stand up for the remaining 25% that is not!!!! But I get that the pro folks want to cry out because their cheap labor is being taken from them. They'll now have to share their profits. I understand greed. I just don't agree with it! </font>

Securing the border is a far different issue than villainizing a whole group of people.
Also, love the Alipac defense: "this particular fact isn't true, but instead of apologizing like decent folk would do, we will continue to inflame."
Youtube is blocked for me, but I'm sure the similar evidence you mention includes a group of crazed immigrants and their supporters threatening to rape and assault a Rhode Island lawmaker for speaking out against immigration, because after all, that is the only way those savages know how to act.

I don't know who wrote this, but he/she really "lays it on the line".
After long and serious thought, I have decided to endorse Senator John McCain for President.
I have always voted for the person and have not voted for anyone because some political party was telling me who I should vote for.
We all know the choices by now and, that said, I do believe that the process of selecting a chief executive is deeply flawed. The words "money" and "special interests" come to mind, among many others.
Here's the way I see it:
Barack Obama, you are a fine public speaker. You are also an extremely liberal Senator from the State of Illinois, which has a long and rich history of political corruption of the first magnitude. You are indeed a child of that system.
You have finally insulted my intelligence far beyond my capacity to tolerate your insults. It has nothing at all to do with your skin color. As a matter of fact, it would be so COOL to finally have an African-American for President. What a great statement that would be to the entire world that we are indeed the greatest country on earth! But, unfortunately, **General Colin Powell** is not running, and YOU are NOT the man for this job!
Barack baby, you want me to believe that you have never heard the sermons of your own pastor, the Right Reverend "God **** America" Jeremiah Wright. It is a matter of record that this has been your church for over 20 years. It is a matter of record that you were married there by this very pastor, and that your children were baptized there. The good Reverend saw fit to visit Khadafy in Libya with you and to give a life time achievement award to Louis Farrakhan, of all people. We have all now seen excerpts of his sermons all over the airwaves by now. And you have publicly stated that this man IS your "spiritual mentor".
BUT, your pastor is NOT the reason I am NOT voting for you. His words were disturbing enough, but it is your own HUGE church congregation, seen jumping hooting and howling to his words in the background that disturb me the most. And please don't tell me you attended church there and never once heard a "discouraging word" in the 20 years you attended there. Don't tell me, that in addition to the good reverend, that you are now not having anything to do with all those other people seen hooting and howling out in the audience in the background of his fiery tirades.
Even Oprah Winfrey got disgusted and walked out. I am no Oprah fan, but still she did the right thing.
Now YOU look me in the eye and ask me to believe that you never heard such language in all the years you attended there! This is like me telling you that I attended dozens of Klan rallies and never once heard the "N" word. Yep. And Bill Clinton "did not inhale".
Yes, Mr. Obama, we all have friends who have said stupid things that embarrassed us, but NOW you have asked me to believe something that is so incredibly stupid that you are telling me that I am just stupid enough to believe you. THAT is the main reason that I will never vote for you. I am deeply sorry, that in a county teeming with enormously talented African Americans who would make a good President, that the political system has chosen YOU. You are a pathetic and plastic excuse for an American, who will not even salute the Flag during the Pledge of Allegiance. God forbid you ever get near the Oval Office.
Now, did I mention Bill Clinton?
AH YES ! This brings us to MRS. WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON, who this candidate really is, in spite of all the other names she may care to call herself. This "feminist" piece of work of course would like to be referred to as MS. and we all know who wears the pant suit in that family. MS. Clinton, (sugar), it is just as depressing to realize that there are dozens of women who would also make great Presidents. But, unfortunately, the horrible state of the selection process has selected YOU. Ms. Clinton, I'm sorry, but you couldn't tell the truth if we waterboarded you.
Still you play the role of the "embarrassed but dignified noble wife". What utter malarkey! I am not voting for you for a world of reasons, but the main one is the same as not my voting for Senator Obama. You persistently insult my intelligence. It COULD be conceivably possible that you did not know about Monica Lewinsky, extremely remote, but possible if we stretch our imaginations a bit. But you turn around and then ask me to believe that you also did not know about Paula Jones and the legion of other women who were chewed up and spit out by your lecherous excuse for a husband. Puleese turn off this broken record!!!
But let's set aside your hubby's flagrant peccadilloes. The real reason I will never vote for you is that I don't think the country can survive EIGHT MORE YEARS of Whitewater, Travelgate, Filegate, Sandy Berger stuffing his socks with classified intelligence, Janet Reno's goon squad, and the myriad of other corruptions that seem to stick to you like velcro. So our former President committed adultery. The REAL issue is that he committed perjury under oath when he lied about it and the pathetically-attempted cover up that followed.
Like you, he is totally incapable of telling the truth. He could not do it if you tortured him, and in voting for you, we would get the BOTH of you, all over again. The same folks who COULD HAVE taken out Osama Bin Laden over 7,000 dead Americans ago!
And please stop telling me that you have "8 years of experience" to lead us. You were the freakin' first lady already, not the Commander in Chief. Jeez! The sum of your "experience" is that of the most worrisome and incompetent meddling in the history of the White House. You even cursed your pitiful staff and the Secret Service agents who were and still are unfortunately charged with risking their lives to protect your hide, and all at the expense of other people who have to work for a living.
Your single and pathetic platform, is to finance the illegal drugs, alcoholism and bad habits of the very lowest and most irresponsible freeloaders in America and to then "garnish the wages" (YOUR OWN WORDS) of every law-abiding and hardworking American to pay for it. This disaster you refer to as "Universal Health Care". Where have you been the last 30 years? Did you not see that socialism is a failure wherever it has been tried? Did you not notice that the Soviet Union has collapsed since it gave no reward to those who worked the hardest for the fruits of their own labors to pay for those who will not??
It is interesting to see all the dead bodies that you and your hubby have left in your wake. Suicides, mysterious deaths, cover-ups that make Richard Nixon look like a rank amateur. The utter contempt and unbelievable arrogance of some of your strongest supporters, most notably the recently resigned and disgraced Governor Eliot Spitzer, the epitome of hypocritical and malevolent arrogance gone wild, one of your most ardent, wealthy and powerful political supporters. A man the news media refuses to admit IS a "super delegate" in your own political machine, a fine example of your own adopted state of New York. No wonder you moved there to run for Senator! The environment there is perfect for the likes of you!
Yes, I would love to vote for a woman, but I will NOT vote for YOU!
Which leaves us with Senator John McCain. John, you are indeed a flawed man. You are a bit old, a bit loony, and you have a notoriously bad temper. This perfectly qualifies you, in my humble opinion, to lead us for the next eight years.
I WANT your trembling hand on the nuclear button. Think about it. We have Kim Jong IL, Chavez and Ahmadenijad all running around like lunatics, threatening America and Israel and threatening to plunge the world into nuclear Armageddon. We have Putin and the Chinese blustering and rattling their sabers at us. I want John McCain in the Oval Office and I want him to be really [censored] off at all these other nut jobs around the planet.
John, once you are elected, I want you to go into the Oval Office and throw one of your perfect FITS. Jump up and down and throw something through a plate glass window. Rip the drapes down and foam at the mouth a bit. And I want the whole thing on camera so that Ahmadinejad can see it. I want ALL of these "world leaders" to lay awake at night and to break out in a cold sweat every time they think of messing with the United States of America
I want the nuclear button sitting right next to the alarm clock on your night stand. I want pictures of this to be sent to Iran, China, Venezuela, Cuba, Libya, Syria, Pakistan, and those other assholes in the sheets, INCLUDING the Saudis.
On the domestic front, poor John did try and reach across the aisle to the opposition in a desperate effort to compromise and to get the Congress to do something. You may not agree with his efforts, but at least he TRIED. For all his efforts, all he got handed to him was his head in a basket. The liberals are [censored] at him and the conservatives are [censored] at him. Just my kinda guy.
I predict that John will select Senator Joe Lieberman as his running mate. GREATCHOICE!!! I want a JEW whose memory of the Holocaust is still fresh in his mind and who is royally [censored] off at all of these towel-headed morons in the Middle East. to be the next in line if something should happen to John. Shalom,Vice President Joe. One heartbeat from the Oval Office.
Finally, John McCain knows on a most personal level what it is to suffer horrible torture for years and to see others die, right in front of you, for their love of America. When you ask him about it, he will tell you that what he did was "nothing special". Even more incredibly, he states that ANY American who truly loves his country would do exactly the same as he did in that situation. You and I will have a hard time believing that, but the real point is that John McCain believes that about the "average American", and that, dear friends and neighbors, is why I will cast my one poor ballot for on election day for John McCain--warts and all.
God Bless America.

I don't know where I heard this, but I think it's true. John McCain could have gotten out of the torture he was in alot earlier if he chose to, but he didn't because the way he would have been able to get out of it was because of who he was related to. Does anyone know a better way to describe that story?
He isn't my first choice, but given what we are left with, he's definately my only choice, that is, until "Operation Chaos" is over! Until then, I'll just keep pulling for the Dem that will prolong the "exposing who they really are tour!" giggle!

This is a rather long post. This really belongs in the political thread, but I didn't feel like looking it up.
I have stated before I lost about 2 to 3 miles per gallon with the new gas. That is 11 to 17 percent loss in gas mileage. In other words, I am using 11 to 17 percent MORE gas now than before Ethanol was added to our fuel. This means I am using more oil and polluting more than before.
THAT IS YOUR GOVERNMENT AT WORK
An Inconvenient Truth About Ethanol.
Food prices are soaring because of ethanol production, and food riots are breaking out in many places (please see story below this one). E10 or 90% gasoline 10% ethanol is supposed to only reduce fuel mileage by 2% to 3%. I dont know how they came by their numbers, but I assume they simple deduced that ethanol has about 30% less British Thermal Units, and since it made up on 10% of E10, then about a 3% reduction in mileage could be expected. This is the way the morons in labs think, especially when their job depends on it. Many vehicles are seeing a 10% or more drop in fuel mileage, you see no vehicle is designed to run on E10, and it simply is out of tune for E10. So it is more than just the BTU difference between the E10 blend and straight gasoline. Many owners have clogged the internet with such complaints; fleet owners have reported as much as an 11.9% drop in mileage. Ethanol tends to act as a combustion inhibitor when mixed with gasoline. Did you know for every gallon of ethanol produced, the American taxpayer pays .55 cents to the producers? Plus the government has another gaggle of subsidies I won't get into.
In terms of energy output compared with energy input for ethanol production:
corn requires 29 percent more fossil energy than the fuel produced.
switch grass requires 45 percent more fossil energy than the fuel produced.
wood biomass requires 57 percent more fossil energy than the fuel produced.
These figures don't include the fact that ethanol has to be shipped by truck, because it is incompatible for current pipe-lines.
David Pimentel, an agricultural scientist at Cornell University, has conducted numerous cost analyses on ethanol production. Pimentel found that one acre of U.S. corn field yields about 7,110 pounds of corn, which in turn produces 328 gallons of ethanol. To plant, grow, and harvest the corn takes about 140 gallons of fossil fuel and costs about $347 per acre. Converting corn to ethanol requires about 99,119 BTUs to make one gallon, which has 77,000 BTUs of available energy. It takes about 29 percent more energy is required to produce a gallon of ethanol than is stored in that gallon in the first place. Ethanol is also driving up the cost of natural gas because this is the primary source of fuel required to produce ethanol.
Ethanol is driving up food prices, as well as feed prices.
Ethanol is driving up natural gas prices, and in turn electrical and heating prices.
 Ethanol's subsidizes is costing taxpayers.
 E10 is increasing fuel consumption.
So again the American taxpayer is paying the bill for big corporate profits, E10 is costing us more than just money, in some countries it is costing lives, as many cannot afford the high food prices, read the next story please. Tell the Governor we don't need the ethanol scam in our state!

Food Inflation, Riots Spark
Worries for World Leaders
IMF, World Bank
Push for Solutions;
Turmoil in Haiti
By BOB DAVIS and DOUGLAS BELKIN
April 14, 2008; Page A1
WASHINGTON -- Finance ministers gathered this weekend to grapple with the global financial crisis also struggled with a problem that has plagued the world periodically since before the time of the Pharaohs: food shortages.
Surging commodity prices have pushed up global food prices 83% in the past three years, according to the World Bank -- putting huge stress on some of the world's poorest nations. Even as the ministers met, Haiti's Prime Minister Jacques Edouard Alexis was resigning after a week in which that tiny country's capital was racked by rioting over higher prices for staples like rice and beans.
Rioting in response to soaring food prices recently has broken out in Egypt, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Ethiopia. In Pakistan and Thailand, army troops have been deployed to deter food theft from fields and warehouses. World Bank President Robert Zoellick warned in a recent speech that 33 countries are at risk of social upheaval because of rising food prices. Those could include Indonesia, Yemen, Ghana, Uzbekistan and the Philippines. In countries where buying food requires half to three-quarters of a poor person's income, "there is no margin for survival," he said.
Many policy makers at the weekend meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank agreed that the problem is severe. Among other targets, they singled out U.S. policies pushing corn-based ethanol and other biofuels as deepening the woes.
"When millions of people are going hungry, it's a crime against humanity that food should be diverted to biofuels," said India's finance minister, Palaniappan Chidambaram, in an interview. Turkey's finance minister, Mehmet Simsek, said the use of food for biofuels is "appalling."
James Connaughton, chairman of the White House's council on environmental quality, said biofuels are only one contributor to rising food prices. Rising prices for energy and electricity also contribute, as does strong demand for food from big developing countries like China.
But beyond taking shots at the U.S., there was little agreement this weekend on what should be done. Mr. Zoellick pushed the ministers to focus on the food issue in a dramatic Thursday news conference at which he held up a 2-kilogram (4.4-pound) bag of rice, which he said would now cost poor families in Bangladesh half their daily income. He kept up the pressure over the weekend. In a Sunday news briefing, he said, "We have to put our money where our mouth is now -- so that we can put food into hungry mouths."
But the weekend's meeting produced few concrete results. Mr. Zoellick recently urged rich nations to contribute another $500 million to the United Nation's World Food Program, but he said that the U.N. has received commitments for only about half the money.
Integrated Response
Meanwhile, the IMF's board of governors -- basically, the world's finance ministers, who run both the IMF and World Bank -- urged the IMF to work with the World Bank for "an integrated response through policy advice and financial support."
On Sunday, the committee that oversees the World Bank noted that "large groups of poor people are severely affected by high food and energy prices across the developing world." The committee echoed the IMF committee's call for "timely policy and financial support to vulnerable countries" and urged rich countries to be more generous in "immediate support for countries most affected by the high food prices."
The World Bank plans to nearly double its agricultural lending to Africa next year to $800 million, and is urging members to ramp up relief for hard-pressed nations. The World Bank, IMF and big industrialized nations also are pushing for the completion of the Doha global trade talks, though cutting food subsidies in the U.S. and Europe under a trade deal would boost prices of food for impoverished importing nations.
Last week, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown urged the G7 nations -- the U.S., Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan -- to develop a comprehensive strategy for the food problem, encompassing trade, agricultural productivity, technology, biofuels and short-term aid for poor countries. In the past, Britain has taken the lead in pushing the G7 to write off the debts of the world's poorest nations.
The situation in Haiti underscored some of the problems afflicting the world's poorest countries. Haiti has enough food in the marketplace to feed its populace, but prices have increased beyond the means of many of the urban poor to pay for it, said Michael Hess, an administrator in the U.S. Agency for International Development's Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance. "People are making two bucks a day," he said. "And we're seeing food prices go up around the world."
Wave of Protectionism
In the Philippines, the world's biggest importer of rice, a shortage of the grain has become acute. The government is considering a moratorium on converting agricultural land to construction of housing developments and golf courses. The government also is urging fast-food restaurants to offer half-portions of rice to slash the country's rice bill.
Aggravating the problem, in some countries food inflation has prompted a wave of protectionism. Countries usually impose trade barriers to imports to protect local industries and try to boost exports. But food-trade protectionism works the opposite way. Recently at least a dozen of 58 countries surveyed by the World Bank have reduced tariffs to food imports and erected barriers to exports in hopes of restraining food prices domestically and moving toward "self-sufficiency."
India, home to more than half the world's hungry, is restricting grain exports, including a ban on the export of non-basmati rice. Taxes on edible oils, corn and butter have been decreased or eliminated.
Egypt similarly halted rice exports for six months as of April 1. The price of cereals and bread there has climbed by nearly 50% over the past 12 months. Eleven people have died in the past two months in incidents related to lengthening bread lines. The shortage compelled President Hosni Mubarak to order the army to bake additional loaves.
The global effect of export barriers, however, is to drive food prices even higher than they would be otherwise. Such policies "distort global prices," said Mr. Simsek, the Turkish finance minister, in an interview. Rather than erect barriers, he said, Turkey plans to pick up the pace of constructing irrigation canals near dams in Anatolia, in southeastern Turkey.
Arvind Subramanian, a former senior IMF researcher, said that when countries adopt restrictive trade policies regarding food, "it becomes a bizarre kind of beggar-thy-neighbor. You're not trying to sell more to the other guy; you're trying to keep more in your own country."
With the international financial institutions working on a slow track, countries have been cutting their own deals. Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said on Tuesday that he had agreed to let Libya grow wheat on 247,000 acres of land in the Ukraine. In exchange, Libya promised to include the former Soviet republic in construction and gas deals.
Brazil recently invited Egypt's minister of commerce to discuss a possible trade deal which would have a strong agriculture component. China also cut its first free-trade deal with a rich country, picking New Zealand, a major food exporter, and is talking about a pact with Australia, another big agricultural producer.
Meanwhile, Uganda plans to sell more coffee, milk and bananas to India. "Our problem is too much food and little market," Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni told reporters, according to news reports,
About 18 of the countries sampled by the World Bank also are boosting consumer subsidies and instituting price controls. That prompted a warning from U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to "resist the temptation of price controls and consumption subsidies that are generally not effective and efficient methods of protecting vulnerable groups." He said, "They tend to create fiscal burdens and economic distortions while often providing aid to higher-income consumers or commercial interests other than the intended beneficiaries."
Better-Targeted Subsidies
Instead, the World Bank's Mr. Zoellick urged countries to look at better-targeted subsidies -- such as providing food in exchange for work, or increasing school-lunch programs for poor families, so that children can take food home to their families.
During informal conversations and interviews, ministers mainly agreed that the U.S. policies on biofuels were especially harmful. U.S. ethanol is made from corn, which, ministers said, could be exported to feed the hungry, and benefited from tariffs that block Brazilian ethanol, which is produced much more efficiently from sugar cane.
The White House's Mr. Connaughton said the U.S. is working on developing "second generation" biofuels that would use varieties of grass or agricultural wastes -- not food -- as source material. "That's where we need to get to go," he said.
The World Bank also has blamed the boom in biofuels for the rise in global food prices. That has put Mr. Zoellick in a ticklish position. Before taking his job at the World Bank, he was U.S. Trade Representative, and defended U.S. agricultural positions. In his Thursday news briefing, he didn't mention the U.S. by name, but he praised sugar-based ethanol of the sort made in Brazil and questioned whether tariffs to block the fuel -- such as the U.S. uses -- make "economic sense."

I wish just ONE of the candidates would take a stronger stance on immigration. But they all seem to be too chicken [self sencored].
When you get a chance, please check out this website/movie!
http://www.bordermovie.com/
I went and saw it last night and was a fundraiser for the imprisoned border patrol agents Ramos and Campeon.
I also had the saddned honor to meet both of the parents of the teenager who was recently killed in LA by an illegal alien. I got a chance to chat with both of them and will soon be blogging about the entire experience, along with my photos, on my myspace page. Their website is:
http://jamielshaw.org/
I have been quite vocal in the last 2 years or so about the issue of illegal aliens and am a proud member of both ALIPAC and Numbers USA. But before you judge me and call me a racist, let me just point out the fact that Ramos & Campeon are both Hispanic and Jamiel Shaw is African American...and I'm a little white girl. Race has *nothing* to do with the immigration issue in this country and I wish people would come up with a better argument to excuse their exploitation of people from other poor countries.

"I believe that the majority of Hispanics share our view that the border must be secured, and the border must be secured first," McCain said. "But they also want us to have an attitude, which I think most Americans do, that these are God's children and they must be taken care of, or the issue must be addressed, in a humane and compassionate fashion. And I will continue to carry that message with the priority that we must secure our borders first."
Hey, Sen. McCain, it is not JUST about the border.
It is about our government policies that welcome people who sneak in or overstay there visas.
We are not talking about going house to house looking for illegals, but we are talking about the RULE OF LAW.
In other words, follow the laws that are currently on the books.
NO AMNESTY for those that broke the law.
What I want to see is this
- end birthright citizenship- if both parents are illegal, so is the child.
- enforce laws on companies who hire illegals.
- no more government handouts as in welfare, WIC, food stamps or Medicare if you are not in this country legally.
- If you are pulled over or specially arrested for any reason [other than racial profiling] you should be deported with the option of taking your family with you.
- Pass ordinances like the one in Farmers Branch TX that has a landlord fill out a I-9 to establish residency.
You do not have to go on a witch hunt to stop the problem, just make it more difficult for them to work and live and they will leave. Just ask Oklahoma.

I love your answer!
How about YOU run for President and fix this problem??
I would only add one other thing - learn to speak the language!
Someone on the radio mentioned that the other day - that traffic seemed a bit lighter in LA due to some going back since they can't get hired here anymore. I wish I knew what freeway(s) he's talking about b/c traffic seems the same to me - BAD!

In my last post, I showed where Obama is stopping the Democratic Party from taking Lobbyist money. McCain talks that way but most of his staff was made up of Lobbyist. (and still is)
McCain says he supports States rights, but I don't see it.
Obama just keep talking how the government should help everyone. (that is why he is a Socialist)
Obama will get us out of Iraq (which we need to do)
BUT he wants to send the troops into Afganistan (where things are getting much worse) and even in Sudan.
I very much doubt Obama will bull the troop back home protecting AMERICA. He will keep protecting the Dictators and ruthless leaders we always have (well for the last 50 years)
Glenn Beck was talking about how the only GOOD candidate running for President may be Bob Barr. He stated that choosing between Obama and McCain would be choosing the lessor of two evils.
Maybe if more radio personalities started talking like this, there would be Hope for America. I would take Bob Barr over either one of the other idiots.

Obama has a better Foreign policy than McCain, but McCain has a better domestic policy.
Number one reason why Ron Paul, or any other third party, will ever get anywhere...
Say whatever you want about McCain, I've never liked him, but he isn't blinded by emotional liberalism to what's really going on with foriegn affairs. Obama's just another liberal exploiting class envy.
Maybe he can invite Oprah to negotiate with foriegn leaders who don't even believe in the holocaust. Oprah left the same church he attended for "street cred" too, maybe they'll reunite and the people who want Israel and the USA wiped off the map will be "talked" out of their life long policies. Sorry, doesn't sound feasible to me, or even possible if you actually look at it without stump speach emotionalism.
Ps, I say this sacarstically, but I really feel it is very serious. You don't "talk" someone who wants you dead out of killing you, history doesn't support the kind of leadership Obama's advocating ( or lying about ). It might get you pathetically naive votes, but it will also make you weak militarily, over-taxed than anything you've ever seen, and more government than you ever imagined. Sorry, what you said just touched a button with me. Obama would be an unproven steaming pile of liberalism that would make Billary look like a Reaganite.
That's my hot sports opinion for the day. You can resume your Ron Paul beating! :D

Painfully Inadequate
Election 2008.
By Thomas Sowell
Now that the two parties have finally selected their presidential candidates, it is time for a sober - if not grim - assessment of where we are.
Not since 1972 have we been presented with two such painfully inadequate candidates. When Election Day came that year, I could not bring myself to vote for either George McGovern or Richard Nixon. I stayed home.
This year, none of us has that luxury. While all sorts of gushing is going on in the media, and posturing is going on in politics, the biggest national sponsor of terrorism in the world - Iran - is moving step by step toward building a nuclear bomb.
The point when they get that bomb will be the point of no return. Iran 's nuclear bomb will be the terrorists' nuclear bomb - and they can make 9/11 look like child's play.
All the options that are on the table right now will be swept off the table forever. Our choices will be to give in to whatever the terrorists demand - however outrageous those demands might be - or to risk seeing American cities start disappearing in radioactive mushroom clouds.
All the things we are preoccupied with today, from the price of gasoline to health care to global warming, will suddenly no longer matter.
Just as the Nazis did not find it enough to simply kill people in their concentration camps, but had to humiliate and dehumanize them first, so we can expect terrorists with nuclear weapons to both humiliate us and force us to humiliate ourselves, before they finally start killing us.
They have already telegraphed their punches with their sadistic beheadings of innocent civilians, and with the popularity of videotapes of those beheadings in the Middle East .
They have already telegraphed their intention to dictate to us with such things as Osama bin Laden's threats to target those places in America that did not vote the way he prescribed in the 2004 elections. He could not back up those threats then but he may be able to in a very few years.
The terrorists have given us as clear a picture of what they are all about as Adolf Hitler and the Nazis did during the 1930s - and our "leaders" and intelligentsia have ignored the warning signs as resolutely as the "leaders" and intelligentsia of the 1930s downplayed the dangers of Hitler.
We are much like people drifting down the Niagara River , oblivious to the waterfalls up ahead. Once we go over those falls, we cannot come back up again.
What does this have to do with today's presidential candidates? It has everything to do with them.
One of these candidates will determine what we are going to do to stop Iran from going nuclear- or whether we are going to do anything other than talk, as Western leaders talked in the 1930s.
There is one big difference between now and the 1930s. Although the West's lack of military preparedness and its political irresolution led to three solid years of devastating losses to Nazi Germany and imperial Japan , nevertheless when all the West's industrial and military forces were finally mobilized, the democracies were able to turn the tide and win decisively.
But you cannot lose a nuclear war for three years and then come back. You cannot even sustain the will to resist for three years when you are first broken down morally by threats and then devastated by nuclear bombs.
Our one window of opportunity to prevent this will occur within the term of whoever becomes president of the United States next January.
At a time like this, we do not have the luxury of waiting for our ideal candidate or of indulging our emotions by voting for some third party candidate to show our displeasure - at the cost of putting someone in the White House who is not up to the job.
Senator John McCain has been criticized in this column many times. But, when all is said and done, Senator McCain has not spent decades aiding and abetting people who hate America .
On the contrary, he has paid a huge price for resisting our enemies, even when they held him prisoner and tortured him. The choice between him and Barack Obama should be a no-brainer.

Wow, this dude's a lunatic!!!!
Iran is equivalent to nazi Germany. An enemy of the US might have a nuclear weopon. Geez, has that scenario ever existed during my lifetime, or beter yet, has that scenario ever not existed during my lifetime? I guess that we should have wiped out the Soviets, the Koreans, the Chinese and maybe some others just just because you know, they have nuclear weopons.

...and the heads go deeper into the sand.
Thanks for posting that 7956. Too many people for far too long have ignored very real threats and have bought the lie that America is just an evil empire. Makes me think of the analogy of the boiling water and the frog or lobster or whatever. Little by little if you turn up the heat, the critter doesn't even know how fried his brain is. But if you just throw him into a boiling pot of water, he freaks out. Many Americans have had the warm water of complacency and socialist thinking turned up so slowly, they don't even see how there freedoms are being taken away and the peace they enjoy, even while at war, is being threatened.
While the most blessed nation in the history of mankind skips along blindly to the real threats it faces, lefties raise there heads long enough to blame America for all that is wrong in the world and seek to elect a candidate who isn't even proven as a senator! Say whatever you want about McCain, he isn't my first choice either, but he is light years ahead of Barack Hussein Obama when it comes to protecting America. Barack said Friday quote: "Im running for commander OF chief." Bush would have been ridiculed by every media outlet out there for just one of the many "gaffe's" Obama the rookie makes.

I got this in an email today
IF AMERICA ATTACKS
As the debate before the Security Council proceeds, the United States could take some preparatory steps to move military resources into the region, in case a preemptive strike against Iran became necessary. Moving more military forces to the region would signal to Iran the seriousness of the United States to stand by President Bushs repeated statement that Iran would not be permitted to have nuclear weapons.
At the same time, Bush administration officials, including the president himself, would be expected to repeat that no military strike was planned, right up until the last moment. Until that point, the administrations goal would be to use every diplomatic measure possible to make clear that the goal is to get Iran to become compliant with IAEA inspection requirements.
Currently, regime change is not the policy of the administration toward Iran. Should the Security Council discussions begin to drift without imposing additional sanctions on Iran, the United States State Department could announce that US foreign policy toward Iran has been changed, such that regime change is now our goal. This would be a strong message to dissidents inside Iran as well as to the expatriate Iranian freedom-fighting community worldwide.
The State Department could back up the announcement by making financial resources available under current legislation to support non-governmental organizations in the United States with the capabilities of supporting dissidents in Iran. In Congress, involved senators including Brownback and Santorum, both Republicans, could advance new legislation, even more strongly worded than their previous attempts, with the aim of providing even more funding for the State Department to disperse to responsible organizations capable of effecting regime change in Iran.
All these efforts could be put in place short of going to war. As Iran saw that the US government was moving toward regime change, the additional pressure would warn Iran not to continue in a defiant path. Should President Bush decide that taking military action against Iran would require additional authorizing legislation; a new resolution could be prepared and submitted by the administration to Congress. Such preparations already seem underway.
Here is the kicker, this email came from the Jerusalem Prayer Team.
The mission of the Jerusalem Prayer Team: To guard, defend and protect the Jewish people and Eretz Yisrael until Israel is secure, and until the Redeemer comes to Zion.

I'm sure that his days as a community organizer, law student, lawyer, constitutional professor, state rep, and senator were filled with meetings with terrorists. He probably smuggled the hijackers in. He is the manchurian candidate. You know that, right? You've seen the terrorist fist bump, right?

Not sure why you replied to me, I think Obama is a Marxist and he may actually get me to vote for McCain the warmonger. Otherwise I am leaning Barr or if he is on the ballot in Texas, Baldwin.
As far as who Obama has associated with
Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn - If I could meet with them I would too. They are from his hometown and are very active in helping people of Chicago. So was Obama, I am sure there paths crossed several time.
Rashid Khalidi another American that would be interesting to pick his brain. Unlike the Weathermen, he has not been accused of being a Terrorist, only having worked with the PLO in an official capacity. You can't blame someone for trying to help the people his father came from can you.
His acceptance of the Hamas support - did not happen, in fact Obama has stated that he would not sit down and talk with Hamas unless they renounced Terrorism.
The FACT is Hamas was VOTED in power thanks to Bushes desire to have elections in Palestine.
Castro - The cold war is over, get over it. Raul has started opening up Cuba and talking with them and lifting sanction would only be helpful. Shoot, we could by there Sugarcane crops and make better Ethanol with it.
BTW, McCain has bashed Obama for saying he would talk with these groups when he himself has stated the same thing with Hamas, Iran and North Korea.
Fact is, we already have been talking with Iran and North Korea either directly or though other countries.

"meeting with someone is vastly dif from befriending and supporting. Why else would he disassociate from the "rev" wright? Cause he's a freak! But not Ayers? An unrepentent terrorist? Makes no sense.
Dress it up anyway you want pizza, the ties he has with Rashid are more than suspect and you know it. I "can blame" someone for supporting terrorism in anyway while accepting there support in return.
Not talking to Hamas has nothing to do with what I said! But I guess when "talking" is the foundation of his campaign, it makes some people think it will accomplish peace!
The cold war wasn't even a thought. Once again, it's who you CHOOSE to associate with and accept the support of. Kinda like Obama saying he doesn't accept support from lobbiest, LOL, what a joke!
I didn't say one thing about McCain. He's only the lesser of two evils but with one difference that makes him vastly more qualified than the one year senator rookie.

Jun 11 2008, 10:32 AM
In my mind, the point is that if you are going to throw stuff around, maybe it should be true. It's not a bad start.
All the other stuff you mentioned essentially boils down to a false premise: "He knows so and so, and they are scary people, therefore he is scary." We are not who we know, or who associate with, or even who we might like. Most of us know many people who hold polar opposite views, and can still like them as people even though we disagree with some of their views. That is why I say you should gain some actual knowledge of Obama, to learn about him directly, not through associations. Read his books. If you think he is lying through his teeth, or cleverly creating a disguise for an eventual presidential run, then I guess you will dismiss all that evidence and continue to see him as some America-hating manchurian candidate. Otherwise, you might see him as someone who you might not agree with, but who is hardly divisive or unamerican.
Bryan, "marxist" is way too far, and way too simplistic. He has continually stated that free markets will always be at the core of our economy, but government must step in where the market fails. That's hardly socialist. Even on health care, where one could legitimately see some socialism, he is advocating choice. It's not mandatory.
He is certainly not a hard-line idealogue on anything, much more of a pragmatist.

Take heed of a little advice from Edward R. Murrow: "To be persuasive, we must be believable; to be believable we must be credible; to be credible, we must be truthful."
Hey that explains the reason Obama hasn't persuaded me. I love how he get so much young support when i can tell you most people under 25 have no clue about our nation's issues. I actually enjoy the stuff though.

There has been several attacks, there just has not been one on American soil. They have been attacking our Allies to make them stop there support. It worked with Spain and several other small countries. Even Brittan has started withdrawing there troops.
Our problem is that our leaders totally ignore the motive behind the attacks.
It has never been because we are free.

To begin with, ignorance isn't an excuse. The outfit Mr. Obama is wearing is a traditional Kenyan garb and has nothing to do with traditional Muslim wear. I understand that for someone with an agenda and an inability to do a google search that this outfit looks a little like what Muslims wear but that is incorrect. I suggest you look at similar pictures of other political leaders wearing traditional clothing from areas they've visited. Of course those leaders weren't black...
The Bush family has long friendships with both the Saudi royal family and with the Bin Laden family. Those friendships include investments in a number of venues including the Carlisle Group, an investment group that puts money into American Companies that make munitions and weapons (like that isn't a conflict of interest...). These investments are well documented. Some of them are highly irregular and suspect (please see BCCI).
This really starts to get interesting when you look at what happened after 9/11. While all other American flights were canceled, there were private jets going here and there picking up, you guessed it, Saudi and Bin Laden family members and flying them out of the country at Bush's request and against FBI and CIA recommendations. Given that there is credible evidence that the Bin Laden family still provides material support for Osama one has to question George's overall judgment in his friends, his investment partners, and the myth of the liberal media (this receives scant coverage).
Given the weak correlations between Barak Obama and anyone of real importance to terrorism, and these direct links between the Bush family and the Saudis (a family that has supported the Wassabi movement), and the Bin Laden family, you'd think this would be a topic of discussion. At the very least you'd think there'd be an occasional George Bin Laden or a Osama Bin Bush comment.
If I didn't know better, I'd say there was some bias going on, almost like you'd prejudged the man without thinking about the other side. Now why would you do that? Hmmmmmmm.

What is the approval rating of the Democratic Congress these days? Atually it is everyone's problem just like we all have a problem in that both the candidates are likely to do us harm but it will be even worse if Iran has nuclear capabilities.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday I attended the Texas Republican Convention, the largest political convention in the world. I attended as a Delegate from SD9, CD24.
I saw speeches by every one of our state wide office holders, plus speeches by Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, and of course Ron Paul. [plus others]
We as Ron Paul supporters worked on keeping the Texas Platform the most conservative in the country, along with trying to keep the GOP to follow the rules.
We had some successes and several defeats.
Successes, we converted several non RP followers to notice how rules were broken to try to keep us out. We managed to run a long time Republican activist and Ron Paul supporter to get 1/3 of the votes for State Chair. By the end of the convention, it might have been even better as we were able to show how our current State chair was breaking rules and lying to the General Assembly.
In SD12, we were able to vote in a SREC woman that worked for the Ron Paul campaign. She won over the incumbent by 2 votes.
Even in my SD9 we voted for the Ron Paul Party chair and Vice Chair. In my CD24, we voted for the Ron Paul National Committee chair guy. We even voted for the lady most RP of us supported for National Committee woman. [this was a toss up, we were going to support the chair of the Eagle Forum until she came out in support for the Texas Chair that we were fighting against.
The convention goal was to follow the rules and get a fair vote. We did make some changes to the rules because some saw what was happening and changed a rule so the Party Leaders would not be able to railroad as much in 2010.
I have to give big thanks to Tom Washington of Carrollton, even though he was not a Ron Paul supporter, he attended the Credentials meeting and said ''that was the biggest rules violation/railroading I have ever seen'' Tom was on the Rules Committee and wrote the Minority Report for Transparency that was approved in the general session.
We also got several Ron Paul supporters voted in as Delegates to go to St. Paul at the National Convention, including one from my CD24 as an alternate.
Ron Paul did officially close down his campaign. He is starting a new movement, Campaign for Liberty (http://www.campaignforliberty.org). Please check it out. I will change my signature lines later today. I slept most of yesterday and had a lot of work to do at the store.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Republican Party of Texas to Donate Proceeds
from Disgraced Vendor
Sends Message that Bigotry Will Not Be Tolerated
Austin - The Republican Party of Texas on Wednesday announced it will donate the proceeds from a vendor who attempted to sell a disgracefully insensitive button during the just completed 2008 Republican State Convention in Houston. The vendor RepublicanMarket.com is a Florida based outlet who sells political paraphernalia via the internet and at state conventions all over the nation.
This vendor need not apply to another Texas G.O.P. State Convention. The proceeds from their booth space will be donated to charity. We will tolerate nor profit from bigotry, said Hans Klingler, Texas G.O.P. Spokesman.
Dallas Morning News Journalist Christy Hoppe appropriately brought the issue to the attention of R.P.T. officials on Tuesday. R.P.T. officials will be alerting the vendor today via letter about their intent and suggesting they clean up their act.
Our state convention was energetic, unifying and positive. We will not allow any dishonor to be brought on our hardworking grassroots leaders by the actions of a misguided few. The Republican Party of Texas is proud of its principles, record and diversity, Klingler continued.

It's just the hypocrisy of some of the right. There are others on the right who remain true to the principle of justice. They realize that there was nothing evil about this opinion. They actually believe that no one should be detained forever without at least a chance for a hearing. Well said.
I personally have lost faith in our justice system. When persecuting criminals, its not about the facts anymore, its about how much money and time you have to hire a defense team that confuse a jury enough to acquit.
And as far as frivolous lawsuits go, I am simply amazed at cases that win and how much they are awarded. It's just a symptom of how our culture has become one of selfishness and unaccountability.
There is very little "justice" in our "justice system".

I guess it boils down to an interesting question:
Is it better for guilty people to go free, or innocent people to be locked-up?
I know what most people would say (the former rather than the latter).
What I find interesting about War Criminal Tribunals is that they actually have trials and if someone ever faces said trial, 10 times out of 10 they are found guilty. When someone commits genocide, do we really need a trial? What about terrorists that say what they did on video-tape? Bringing these people to trial gives them the opportunity to exploit a loop-hole. For instance, time after time, rapists go free if the girl they rape is promiscuous.
I'm not arguing for lack of due-process, just throwing that out there to think about.

Not to mention the time it would take to even put these scumbags on trial or the money it would cost US taxpayers.
The simple truth is that OBL and over 200 captives in Club Gitmo as well as hundreds of other terrorists, are not being detained or sought out because of "crimes." They are held and being sought out because they deserve death for there actions. It's not about "crimes," it's about war. Believe it or not, there is a difference. A true conservative follows the Constitution, is for smaller government, less taxes and personal Liberty.
NeoCon's have started to take that away from us.
Bush, who ran on a true conservative platform in 2000, has become a NeoCon. Big government, preemptive war, and total disregard of The Constitution.
And believe it or not, sometimes the Democrats are right. [although not very often]
Remember, it was Democrats that got us in Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, and Kosava.
It is also the Democrats that may put us in the Sudan and other countries. They are no better than the NeoCon's. [sometimes NeoCons are considered RINO's Republican In Name Only]

We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow.

Eisenhower was a Democrat?
Come on Tony, did you not pay attention in History class, Truman, a Dimocrat, is who got in into the war with China/USSR in Korea
In 1952, Eisenhower, a Republican, ran on a campaign promise to end the fighting in Korea.
After wining his election in early Nov 52, he went to Korea to see what he could do. Peace came in 53 after he became President.
LBJ [a Texas Dimocrat] got us heavily involved in Vietnam in the mid 60's. Nixon ran on getting us out of Vietnam.
Wasn't talking about Korea. That was Truman's mess, created from the same unholy alliance that gave us East and West Germany.
Eisenhower, a Republican*, committed troops to Vietnam on November 1st, 1955. So your statement that Democrats got us into Vietnam is incorrect.
And of course, the UN helped drag us into Somalia and Kosovo, but Clinton could have said no.
*Spelled correctly, and without the petty name-shifting or -calling that seems to come with those who identify with the appellation. Are manners lacking on the right wing or is that all y'all have left to fight with?

Eisenhower, a Republican*, committed troops to Vietnam on November 1st, 1955. So your statement that Democrats got us into Vietnam is incorrect.
we had around 700 security advisor's on the ground in South Vietnam pre-1961, Kennedy took that number to over 16,000 before he was assassinated.
In August of 1964, under LBJ's watch, one of our ships came under fire about 8 miles off the coast. Then 2 days later another attack 11 miles out. These attacks were used to get congress to sign ''The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution'' that gave LBJ authority to send troops into Vietnam.
In 2005, information was released that shows the Incident at the Gulf of Tonkin was grossly exaggerated and didn't happen.
So I stand by my statement, Kennedy ran on saying we must keep up with the USSR and contain them.
The saying back then was ''We need to fight the communist over there [in Asia] so we don't have to fight them over here''
Sounds familiar doesn't it.

Just Some of What Defines Barack Obama:
He voted against banning partial birth abortion.<font color="blue"> This is hard to believe that anyone, even a pro choice person would vote against this. Look it up, you will be disgusted. </font>
He voted no on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions. <font color="blue"> Minors should not be able to seek medical treatment without parental permission. Why else are they called minors?? </font>
Supports affirmative action in Colleges and Government. <font color="blue"> You would think a Black man (ok, he is only 1/2 black) would understand that affirmative action is reverse discrimination. Just because history shows there was discrimination, does not mean we need to do it the other way to make up for it. </font>
In 2001 he questioned harsh penalties for drug dealing. <font color="blue"> I do think penalties for drug dealers should be strong, however I don't know what this refers to. </font>
Says he will deal with street level drug dealing as minimum wage affair... <font color="blue"> how could he be so wrong, of course the best form of action here would be to legalize drugs so the supply is there. This would make dealing not nearly as profitable. This would result in much less crime...... Ok, so there might be a few more drug addicts, but you know, most people who are addicted to drugs would be that way regardless of if they were legal or not. </font>
Admitted marijuana and cocaine use in high school and in college..< BR> <font color="blue"> So...... these days most people "experimented" at some point. Even our current president used Cocaine, so this is a mute point. If anything I have to respect someone who realized it was a mistake and corrected it.</font>
His religious convictions are very murky. <font color="blue"> oh I am sorry he does not invoke god into every sentence. Someone who does scares me more than Obama. Now it is true that his church is a liability and the only reason he quit was because he is running for President. </font>
He is willing to meet with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. <font color="blue"> This is a good thing. Shoot, our people talked with Iran just last week, what is that a bad thing. If you talk with someone, maybe, just maybe you can work something out. </font>
Has said that one of his first goals after being elected would be to have a conference with all Muslim nations. <font color="blue"> What is wrong with that, this is a good thing. </font>
Opposed the Patriot Act. <font color="blue"> wow, another good thing. The question is, did he oppose it because he read it, or did he oppose it because it was a Republican piece of crap. (the Patriot Act is one of the biggest attacks on our Constitution in years) </font>
First bill he signed that was passed was campaign finance reform.. <font color="blue"> You mean the one that MCCAIN has his name on??? What a STUPID point. </font>
Voted No on prohibiting law suits against gun manufacturers. <font color="blue"> The courts should be throwing these out and charging the plantiff for court costs of the defense. Suing gun manufacturers because of what someone did with there gun is just plane wrong. On the other hand, I do not favor regulations. </font>
Supports universal health-care. <font color="blue"> We simply can't afford this as a country and be the leader in Health Care. There is a reason people come to America from all over the world to have medical procedure done. </font>
Voted yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo detainees. <font color="blue"> some of those people have been kept in Gitmo for over 6 years already with no charges against them. The Supreme Court ruled correctly on this matter. You can not overrule The Constitution of the United States. </font>
Supports granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. <font color="blue"> One HUGE reason to appose Obama. (and McCain for that matter) Driving is a privilege, not a right. Why should we give a legal document to someone who is here ILLEGALLY. </font>
Supports extending welfare to illegal immigrants. <font color="blue"> This one just flat out makes me sick. </font>
Voted yes on comprehensive immigration reform. <font color="blue"> yea, the McCain/Kennedy bill. </font>
Voted yes on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security. <font color="blue"> Again, no different than McCain. Did you know that YOU, an American citizen has to work 40 periods (10 years) to qualify for Social Security, yet the bill McCain and Obama voted "Yes" for would have given illegal immigrants that status after just 2 years </font>
Wants to make the minimum wage a 'living wage'. <font color="blue"> The increase in minimum wage is one of the reasons we are in a recession period right now. I warned you about it over a year ago. Guess what, unemployment just his a 10 year high last quarter. MMM, wonder what is going to happen after this next increase. Business should be able to pay what the market will bear. If you don't like how much you make, CHANGE FREAKING JOBS</font>
Voted with Democratic Party 96 percent of 251 votes. <font color="blue"> duh, he is a Democrat, what did you think, he was going to vote Republican???? </font>
Is a big believer in the separation of church and state. <font color="blue"> Good, our nation was founded on the principle of no "National Religion". I oppose those that want to make Christianity the State religion. </font>
Opposed to any efforts to Privatize Social Security and instead supports increasing the amount of tax paid. <font color="blue"> Obama is WRONG on this subject. No where in the Constitution does it say the Federal Government is suppose to even offer Social Security. I am 41 years old and I would opt out of SS if I could. </font>
He voted No on repealing t he Alternative Minimum Tax. <font color="blue"> Bad for the economy </font>
He voted No on repealing the 'Death' Tax. <font color="blue"> Again, bad for the economy </font>
He wants to raise the Capital Gains Tax. <font color="blue"> horrible for the economy </font>
Has repeatedly said the surge in Iraq has not succeeded.... <font color="blue"> It took a while, but things in Iraq appear to be better. so if he is still saying that things are better he is wrong. On the other hand, we still need to get out and let the Iraqi people run there own lives. </font>
He is ranked as the most liberal Senator in the Senate today and that takes some doing. <font color="blue"> This is what scares me the most. He is the most liberal presidential candidate to ever run for office. This is what he will loose, even against a week Republican in McCain. Our best choice is Bob Barr, but 3rd parties don't have much of a chance in the way our system is currently working. </font>

One thing I will agree with you on in a heartbeat is the minimum wage increases. Though for a different reason. With a raise in minimum wage you tend to see everything in the area go up in price. Cost of living rises. Minimum wage increases are usually negated in the end by that. It is pointless and stupid.

Obama's "Not Exactly's"
1.) Selma Got Me Born - NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965. (Google 'Obama Selma' for his full March 4, 2007 speech and articles about its various untruths.)
2.) Father Was A Goat Herder - NOT EXACTLY, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.
3.) Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter - NOT EXACTLY, he was part of one of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had.
4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom - NOT EXACTLY, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya. It is the first widespread violence in decades. The current government is pro-American but Odinga wants to overthrow it and establish Muslim Sharia law. Your half-brother, Abongo Oba ma, is Odinga's follower. You interrupted your New Hampshire campaigning to speak to Odinga on the phone. Check out the following link for verification of that....and for more. Obama's cousin Odinga in Kenya ran f or presid ent and tried to get Sharia muslim law in place there. When Odinga lost the elections, his followers have burned Christians' homes and then burned men, women and children alive in a Christian church where they took shelter.. Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before the election process here started. Google Obama and Odinga and see what you get. No one wants to know the truth.
5.) My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian - NOT EXACTLY, she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. Not to mention, Christianity wouldn't allow her to have been one of 14 wives to 1 man.
6.) My Name is African Swahili - NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and 'Baraka' (from which Barack came) means 'blessed' in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama. Barack Hussein Obama is not half black. If elected, he would be the first Arab-American President, not the first black President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side and 43. 75% Arab ic and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side. While Barack Hussein Obama's father was from Kenya, his father's family was mainly Arabs.. Barack Hussein Obama's father was only 12.5% African Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father's birth certificate even states he's Arab, not African Negro). From....and for more....go to..... http://www.arcadeathome.com/newsboy.phtml?Barack_Hussein_Obama_-_Arab-American,_only_6.25%25_African
7.) I Never Practiced Islam - NOT EXACTLY, you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for office. 4-3-08 Article "Obama was 'quite religious in islam' http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=60559
8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian - NOT EXACTLY, you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces (check your own book). February 28, 2008. Kristoff from the New York Times a year ago: Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it'll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset." This is just one example of what Pamela is ta lking about when she says "Obama's narrative is being altered, enhanced and manipulated to whitewash troubling facts."
9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian - NOT EXACTLY, not one teacher says you could speak the language.
10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia, I Have More Foreign Experience - NOT EXACTLY, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn't even speak the language. What did you learn, how to study the Koran and watch cartoons.
11.) I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs - NOT EXACTLY, except for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest allies.
12.) I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion - NOT EXACTLY, you were quite content in high school to be Barry Obama, no mention of Kenya and no mention of struggle to identify - your classmates said you were just fine.
13.)An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office - NOT EXACTLY, Ebony has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.
14.) A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life - NOT EXACTLY, Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.
15.) I Won't Run On A National Ticket In '08 - NOT EXACTLY, here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have enough experience by then, and you are all about having experience first.
16.) Voting "Present" is Common In Illinois Senate - NOT EXACTLY, they are common for YOU, but not many others have 130 NO VOTES.
17.) Oops, I Misvoted - NOT EXACTLY, only when caught by church groups and Democrats, did you beg to change your misvote.
18.) I Was A Professor Of Law - NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.
19.) I Was A Constitutional Lawyer - NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.
20.) Wit hout Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill - NOT EXACTLY, you didn't write it, introduce it, change it, or create it.
21.) The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass - NOT EXACTLY, it took just 14 days from start to finish.
22.) I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill - NOT EXACTLY, your bill was rejected by your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation - mainly because of your Nuclear donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.
23.) I Have Released My State Records - NOT EXACTLY, as of March, 2008, state bills you sponsored or voted for have yet to be released, exposing all the special interests pork hidden within.
24.) I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess - NOT EXACTLY, you were part of a large group of people who remedied Altgeld Gardens. You failed to mention anyone else but yourself, in your books.
25.) My Economics Bill Will Help America - NOT EXACTLY, your 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even YOU voted against your own bill.
26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois - NOT EXACTLY, even your own supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.
27.) I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year - NOT EXACTLY, they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.
28.) No One on my campaign contacted Canada about NAFTA - NOT EXACTLY, the Candian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.
29.) I Am Tough On Terrorism - NOT EXACTLY, you missed the Iran Resolution vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction off Israel.
30.) I Want All Votes To Count - NOT EXACTLY, you said let the delegates decide. 31.) I Want Americans To Decide - NOT EXACTLY, you prefer caucuses that limit the vote, confuse the voters, force a public vote, and only operate during small windows of time.
32.) I passed 900 Bills in the State Senate - NOT EXACTLY, you passed 26, most of which you didn't write yourself.
33.) I Believe In Fairness, Not Tactics - NOT EXACTLY, you used tactics to eliminate Alice Palmer from running against you.
34.) I Don't Take PAC Money - NOT EXACTLY, you take loads of it.
35.) I don't Have Lobbysists - NOT EXACTLY, you have over 47 lobbyists, and counting.
36.) My Campaign Had Nothing To Do With The 1984 Ad - NOT EXACTLY, your own campaign worker made the ad on his Apple in one afternoon.
37.) I Have Always Been Against Iraq - NOT EXACTLY, you weren't in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time.
38.) I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care - NOT EXACTL Y, your plan leaves us all to pay for the 15,000,000 who don't have to buy it.

So you think I deleted the points made in the snopes version? HA! I never even knew of it until you posted it after mine. The version I recieved in an e mail was copied and pasted word for word. I didn't delete one letter. If you'd like, I'll forward it to you and prove it. I am almost certain there is a date and time on e mails that I can't mess with. Especially seeing how it was a chain letter. After reading "your version" I am glad I recieved the one I did, and even pm'ed Bender (BEFORE your accusatory and mocking post) and mentioned that "I am glad I didn't know of or post the snopes version because he might have called me a hate monger (or something to that effect)."
You know nothing of my character, only what you've assumed. I am not a liar. I have never lied or intentionally decieved anyone at anytime on here. After many failures in my life, my honesty and integrity are things I value very much, no matter how big or small, a lie is a lie to me.
Obama was a "senior lecturer" (official title) who worked part time and the University deems that to be a "professor." I admitted it back then and all you could say was that I was "obfuscating" because I said "give me a break?" What do you want, a public apology? I am sorry Kurt! Do you feel better now that I've admitted to using information that was proven to be false about Obama's terminology of "professor" and "lecturer?" I am also sorry you can't recognize how widely that information was spread before U of C responded with there clarification of what they call a "professor." As far as being a "constitutional professor" I don't think anyone who pushes for judges to legislate from the bench should be called a "constitutional" ANYTHING!
As far as "resolving deceitfulness with my faith?" I have never been deceitful on here so I am confident there is nothing to "resolve" concerning my faith and this issue. In your attempt to smear me publically did it ever cross your mind that I never saw the snopes version? I highly doubt it. Next time your presumptions get the best of you, don't cry foul, just remember, you're not talking to a liar.

You miss the point.
The Snopes link was posted to show that much of your post was either factually inaccurate or deceptive. It had nothing to do with where you got your material.
The bigger point is in what your post says about the political process in America today. More people are swayed by half-truths and innuendo than by reasoned discourse. I guess this is to be expected when half the voting population has IQs at or under 100. Unfortunately by attending to the spew of a Limbaugh, Olberman, Coulter, Beck, Matthews, etc... we cover in excrement the very men who have stepped forward and who we will elect to the most important office in the world. This is bad for the United States, no matter who is elected.
Consider the political posts of Pizza_God. He has a clear agenda and passionately argues for or against various people. Yet he does it through their actual words and positions rather than the inflammatory deceptions of some talking head. Now consider your posts. Who posts with greater integrity?

Well said, Kurt.
That's why I use terms like research. Find out if what you've heard or read is actually true before accepting it. Faith works in religion, but not in politics.
Or keep acting like sheep. The politicians prefer that actually; it keeps them from having to work.

The snopes post doesn't show anything other than opinion and quotes from Obama's pathetic "psychological autobiography." Snopes quotes Obama's lies from his own book in order to denounce the "inflamitory deceptions of talking heads!" That's nuts!
Obama has covered himself in the "excrement" of his own lies. I am doing nothing more than sharing them. Exposing his lies on a political thread isn't "bad for the United States." It's called freedom of speach. It's good for people to know these things. The "not exactly's" are accurate and each one is easily backed up by "research." Try reading "Obama Nation" and you'll quickly see how full of it Obama really is. There are over 600 footnotes with references for you to do your "research."
I do use Obama's "actual words and positions," constantly. On the same page that has you living in the past concerning "professor-gate 2008" even now, you must have overlooked me posting Obama's "actual words and positions." Wait a minute, doesn't Pizza do that?
Here, I'll post them AGAIN because according to you my integrity doesn't stack up to Pizzas if I don't! BTW, I did not film these youtube clips myself. In fact, I wasn't even there. Moreover, I did not consult with Pizza to see if this post was on par with my agenda or even ask him if it was passionate enough. I simply followed Kurts instructions as to what is a legitimate post concerning political issues. I only hope it passes his rules. I can only dream:

Because this speach of yours concerning my integrity and character is really lame man. This stupid back 'n forth between you and me is reflective of the candidate in question and the ripple effect of his lies, not the politcal scene in America, as messed up as it is.

"Obama voted against an amendment that would have capped credit card intrest rates at a wopping 30 percent."
His excuse was "it was poorly written."
March 3, 2005 : To limit the amount of interest that can be charged on any extension of credit to 30 percent.

Thanks Kurt, at least someone is reading my ranting.
I will never tell you what to think. I try to post things to make you think or at least look into something.
yes, I have an agenda. I want to see our country go back to its root and follow The Constitution. (something it is currently not doing)
This is one of the reasons I have not taken a side with the Russia and Georgia thing. A lot (not all) of the main stream media is not reporting what is really happening there.
In fact, I have not seen any complaints about what Russia is doing from Georgian citizens. But citizens of South Ossatia are complaining about Georgia's actions. Only the government of Georgia is saying Russia is out of line.
Now the word I heard today is that Russia will pull most all but a peace keeping force out of South Ossatia. That is what they had there before all this started. And it remains to be seen if Russia holds true to there words.
In case you didn't know Russia has basically destroyed the Georgian Military. They sunk there ships, destroyed there Tanks and blew up there military airstrips. I have not seen any death counts from either side, but then I have not been looking for it either.

With that kind of fractious voting in one party -- the Dems were 24 for / 16 against / 2 present -- makes me want to look harder at the amendment and all the reasons, not just the reasons of one individual.
And I'm not telling you what to think either. I'm telling you to think. Period. Instead of getting an email and passing on as truth, try actually looking up what it claims. If you would, you wouldn't sound so ignorant because you wouldn't be claiming points as truths long after the points have been proven false.

Then why would you bring up what the republicans voted? I wasn't talking about them, I was talking about the one you guys are defending, OBAMA. "Period." And why would you ask me why they also voted nay? Because you've consistently shown that you assume that everything to the right is automatically republican. Not just one isolated misquote or disproven post like "professor-gate 2008," but consistently over time.
BTW, you concluding I hate Obama is incorrect. I dispise his lies in the desperate attempt to be elected president. It's gonna catch up with him if it hasn't already. Last I looked, McCain (bash him, I don't care, he's not "my guy" either) is ahead. Some polls say by 5%. Oh, and don't forget the "Bradley effect," which will be a part of the final equation for sure.
Oh, and as far as "hating Islam?" I never said those words in my life. Those are your words, not mine. I have a big problem with any man made religion that makes Jesus out to be a liar, but I never said "I hate Islam" on here, or anywhere else.

I have a big problem with any man made religion that makes Jesus out to be a liar, but I never said "I hate Islam" on here, or anywhere else.
A few quotes from Osama bin Laden
"Also, your Christian brothers have been living among us for 14 centuries: in Egypt alone, there are millions of Christians whom we have not incinerated and shall not incinerate. But the fact is, there is a continuing and biased campaign being waged against us for a long time now by your politicians and many of your writers by way of your media, especially Hollywood, for the purpose of misrepresenting Islam and its adherents to drive you away from the true religion. The genocide of peoples and their holocausts took place at your hands: only a few specimens of Red Indians were spared, and just a few days ago, the Japanese observed the 62nd anniversary of the annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by your nuclear weapons."
<font color="red"> Then he ends with this </font>
"And did you know that the name of the Prophet of Allah Jesus and his mother (peace and blessings of Allah be on them both) are mentioned in the Noble Quran dozens of times, and that in the Quran there is a chapter whose name is "Maryam," i.e. Mary, daughter of 'Imran and mother of Jesus (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them both)? It tells the story of her becoming pregnant with the Prophet of Allah Jesus (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them both), and in its confirmation of her chastity and purity, in contrast to the fabrications of the Jews against her. Whoever wishes to find that out for himself must listen to the verse of this magnificent chapter: one of the just kings of the Christians - the Negus - listened to some of its verses and his eyes welled up with tears and he said something which should be reflected on for a long time by those sincere in their search for the truth."
"He said, "verily, this and what Jesus brought come from one lantern": i.e., that the magnificent Quran and the Evangel are both from Allah, the Most High; and every just and intelligent one of you who reflects on the Quran will definitely arrive at this truth. It also must be noted that Allah has preserved the Quran from the alterations of men. And reading in order to become acquainted with Islam only requires a little effort, and those of you who are guided will profit greatly. And peace be upon he who follows the Guidance."
Those were excerpts from his speech (http://www.mideastweb.org/log/archives/00000622.htm) from 9/7/07.
Read the entire speech. If you read all of his speeches, you will realize that Osama does not "hate" Christians. He does not like our governments and what they have done in the Middle East over the last 100 years.
But you never hear that on the main stream media. In fact, in this exact speech, the MSM made it out like Osama told us to convert or die. He NEVER SAID THAT IN THE SPEECH. I actually pointed this out on this web site back in September of last year.
You can read for yourself and make up your own mind.

<font color="red"> Cognitive relativism to be exact. No thanks, I believe there is an "absolute standard" which you already know from previous discussions to be Jesus. I believe it's exclusiveness is easily found in the evidence for it's reliability. And I don't think it's narrow minded to believe that because I've examined the evidence for it and against it to a very large degree. But I respect your right to voice that opinion too and specifically appreciate your level of politeness when discussing it. Except of course the times you think it's funny to mock it! lol God has a sense of humor, IMO, but some things just aren't funny no matter how rib-tickling it is.
But to bring this back into the thread, because I believe in Jesus, wholeheartedly, I get offended when a candidate says the same thing and much more, but his voting record and policies don't reflect that public confession on certain issues. As I said recently, ultimately it's between him and God, but one has to question in light of the evidence if it's real or really just a steaming pile of pandering for religious votes. Like it or not, believe it or not, this is still a Christian nation in MANY respects. If he dissed that, he wouldn't have a chance. Name the last president, I can only recall right now in my lifetime, 7/1/70, that didn't profess Jesus as his Lord? Reguardless of how they lived it out, can you name one? </font>

sometimes I don't get my point across very well.
David, your post reminded me of what the main stream media (MSM) says about the middle east and what I hear a lot from the Christian right and the Republican Party. I was only trying to point out that Islam does not hate Christians as much as a lot of Christians hate Islam because they don't understand it.
Even though I am a Christian, I am one because I was born into it more than anything else. That is the same for most people and there religions. If anything Judaism or Hinduism are the "Correct" religions. (or Mormons if you watch South Park)
I am more of a Diest than anything. I believe that all religions are basically the same, just off shoots of earlier religions. So in that manor, I don't think any religion is wrong as long as it does not harm anyone.

Well, you covered your bases I guess! LOL I appreciate your openess, that's a great quality IMO. But if you boil it all down to where the rubber meets the road on those thoughts, it reminds me of the theory of "no absolutes." In this case, concerning religion. But in any case, as I am sure you already know, nobody can argue against absolute truth. It's impossible. The second you do, you defeat your position.
I simply believe that the truth concerning Jesus is knowable, historically reliable and far from narrow minded in light of the evidence. The evidence, in part, that there is "One Lord and One Faith." Eph:4:5
I don't believe that being a Christian is something you grow up with. I believe it is a choice you make to follow Jesus because you put your faith in Him. But I do understand the meaning, if this is what you meant, of people calling themselves "Christians" due to their upbringing. That thought is just another in the long line of redefined words associated with the religious arena that don't stack up to the biblical definition.

Just say that you're a conservative and you could never vote for a democrat no matter who it is. That's fine.
At this point I would vote for a reasonably intelligent puppy just to protest the overt asshattery that the republicans have displayed in the last 8 years. As far as I'm concerned we are in a war that's costing us $10,000,000,000 per month simply because Bush promised the religious right he'd prevent gey (misspelled to avoid censorship) marriage and end abortion. Of course he was glad-handing, he only wanted the votes. His plans to end those things are long forgotten and you chumps are worried that McCain isn't Jesus-y enough.
One thing I can say about Obama is that he seems like the kind of man that when presented with the facts will make a non-political decision instead of firing an expert that doesn't present him with the numbers he likes. Bush has ruined this country, and I don't believe McCain understands that.

I'm going to have to disagree with the last item on that short list of necessities. Countless numbers of people have died in the name of God or a religion.....in fact, whole societies and civilations have been exterminated because of differing religious beliefs.
Recommended listening = Jethro Tull's 1971 album, " Aqualung (http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/j/jethro_tull/wind_up.html) ". The overall message of the lyrics on the second side is said to be "pro-God but anti-church", and makes the statement that organized religion can actually restrict a person's relationship with their God instead of enhancing it. - Wikipedia

Playtowin, You should be ashamed of yourself for passing along a stupid email (chain letter) that is full of misrepresentations.
<font color="blue"> Sorry, but I don't feel they are "misrepresentations." I've read the convoluted claims in Obama's "psychological autobiography" and the evidence against those claims in the book "Obama Nation" and many other sources. The evidence shows he is a pathological liar and shouldn't be "the next president." That snopes junk was nothing more than opinion, quotes from Obama's book (now that's logical) and "depends what your definition of 'is' is" type of reasoning. Bashing Bush is your way of expressing yourself politically, "that's fine." Knock yourself out. I think he was one of the greatest AND worst presidents of all time.
I would vote for an "intellegent puppy" if only to protest Obamamania. This is a thread entitled "the next president" for a reason. As a political junkie, after "chasing the dragon" I am just taking it to the proper thread! I am not ashamed of that. I find it fascinating, in a political sense, how someone like him has gotten as far along as he has in spite of his lies. Almost as fascinating as Clinton not being thrown out of office for his. I don't care if a small percentage of these, or the related and same ones in snopes are slightly "grey" because the 99% that are undeniable have shown a massive pattern of lies. Zionism - a worldwide Jewish movement that resulted in the establishment and development of the state of Israel.
Zionist - A person who believes in Zionism.
the problem is that they went too far. Zionism these days means more along the lines of "Israel belongs to the Jews and no one else" these days, to be a Zionist is no different than being a member of the KKK or La Rasa.
Zionist of America (http://www.zoa.org/content/about_us.asp)
The ZOA is the only organization that documents and exposes Palestinian Arab violations of the Road Map plan. The ZOA leads the efforts on behalf of American victims of Palestinian Arab terrorism. The ZOA's campaigns have repeatedly led to the defeat of hostile critics of Israel who were nominated for important government position
Not all Jewish people are Zionists. They want to return Israel back to what it once was. Palestinians and Jews living together in peace.
Jews Not Zionists (http://www.jewsnotzionists.org/)
As for me, Yes, the state of Israel has a right to exist. However, how they were formed and the actions the have done and are currently doing is wrong.
But I have said that many times here before.
I don't think Biden knows what he is talking about. If he really feels that way, there will be NO CHANGE or HOPE with a president Obama.
But then I already knew that :D

One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he asks about his bill and the barber replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The florist is pleased and leaves the shop.
When the barber goes to open his shop the next morning there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The cop is happy and leaves the shop.
The next morning when the barber goes to open up there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
Later that day, a college professor comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The professor is very happy and leaves the shop.
The next morning when the barber opens his shop, there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen different books, such as 'How to Improve Your Business' and 'Becoming More Successful.'
Then, a Congressman comes in for a haircut, and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Congressman is very happy and leaves the shop.
The next morni ng when the barber goes to open up, there are a dozen congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.
And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the members of our Congress.

Until the first debate when it's 1960 all over again, as the young Democrat outshines the older Republican on TV. I liked McCain's commercial last night -- very classy (unlike what's going to happen next week at the convention) -- but his appearance immediately reminded me of Mr. Burns.
Palin was a bold and risky pick, and a good pick for the direction of national politics. But she's not going to help bring hardcore Hillary women across the aisle. They aren't going to just vote for a woman if that woman believes differently than they do (on abortion, etc.). Plus, there goes the full effectiveness of the "inexperience" claims against Obama.
She's also going to have to be a very fast learner...she's got 60 days to figure the national political stage out.
Obama's still got the edge based on the speech last night. McCain did help himself in the short term, but going forward it's a risky pick -- it's going to work perfectly or explode in his face.

Sarah Palin:
- Captain of high school basketball team
- 1st place, Miss Wasilla Beauty Contest
- 2nd place, Miss Alaska Beauty pageant
- bachelor's degree in journalism
- 2 term Wasilla City Councilwoman
- 1 yr. Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, resigned
- < 2 yr. Governor of Alaska
- Currently under investigation by the Alaska Legislature for possible abuse of power related to the firing of the Public Safety Commissioner
So, did the 74 year old McCain chose Palin as best qualified to step into the office of President in the event of his illness or death? Or is this simply a political move to try to snag Hillary supporters? Is this an indication of how the McCain cabinet might be chosen?

And yet she still has more executive experience than Obama and has won more genuinely contested elections than Obama. Instead of running slam dunk campaigns after the Chicago machine swept away her primary opponents, she has almost always run against the Alaska machine. I don't think she won Miss Congeniality by suing to get the other girl's name removed from the primary ballot, Chicago machine style like Obama did, and she has not lost since.
When you watch her videos you see that she's very articulate and she communicates conservative ideals in the same natural ways that Ronald Reagan did, relating to individual freedom, the opportunity to excel and succeed, and an America that is great and can be better.
She and her husband are both red meat for conservatives. McCaine is shrewdly shoring up his support in the Republican wing of the Republican party. On the Republican political websites they were not ready to campaign for McCaine; they were not digging to give to McCaine. They were dis-spirited and talking about waiting for 2012 if McCaine picked Lieberman or some RINO squish. Now the campaign has suddenly reached the point where Talia Shire says, "Win, Rocky. Win."

I'm not sure I understand your point. My point is Obama has always had the Machine doing his dirty work for him. He has always run as a Machine candidate, never an outsider. Palin ran for governor against an incumbent Republican, against the Alaska Republican establishment and against Big Oil. Back in March when she was interviewed by Newsweek she quipped that as governor she was the only Alaskan Republican officeholder whose name and face nowhere appeared on the Alaska Republican party website.

You know I find it funny when it was the Democrats who tried to keep MLK down. It seems they forget that part. It was the Republicans that pushed for Freedoms for the Slaves. In fact most former slaves became Republican's when they were freed. The KKK and other groups were Democrats pushing back to the point that they not only lost the right to vote, but where viewed as second class citizens. It was not until MLK did we finally push though all the Civil Rights Acts to overturn all the missuses of the laws.

On Taxes on companies, Obama is misleading about McCain. They are somewhat the same other than Obama wants to raise taxes on Business that ALREADY pay the highest taxes in the WORLD (Ok, 2nd highest as of last time I checked)
And you wonder why companies keep leaving this country.
_______________________________________________
So Obama will eliminate Capital Gains taxes on Small business. That sounds very Republican.
______________________________________________
Last thing we should do is raise taxes on the middle class. Does Obama realize that only 5% of the public pay the majority of the taxes??? That 95% of the tax paying families only pay around 5% of the tax bill. Yes, taxes should be cut. It has proven over and over to work.
_________________________________________________
Goal of 10 to stop our dependence on foreign oil. Yet again, a McCain talking point. Actually one way to do that by 10 years is to Drill Here, Drill Now.
Oh yea, Obama changed his stance on that (as did McCain) when he realized a MAJORITY of Americans want to do that.
_________________________________________________
Jeez, Obama really sounds like a Republican except that he said "help auto companies build cars" As in force companies to make cars the public does not want to buy, or force companies to do things they can't do via regulations which make them more expensive for us to purchase.
DEMAND, Obama, DEMAND is what will force the Auto companies to build those cars, no regulations.
____________________________________________
Interesting that Obama mentioned Nuclear power, another Republican talking point. Then help the electric companies build those plants by educating the public that Nuclear is much saver than 30 years ago. It does not have the waste that most people imagine.
________________________________________________
$150,000,000,000.00 invest from where????? Oh yea, our taxes, given to PRIVATE companies to come up with new technology that they can patent and profit from.
Oh that is the answer
_______________________________________
How is Obama going to do this with Education???? Bush has raised the Federal budget with his "No Child Left Behind" tenfold sense taken office.
yet our education is getting worse.
Do you know what school district pays the most per student????
Try Washington DC, they spend as much per student as most GOOD Private schools charge.
In other words, Washington DC could cut there education expense by paying for private school for all the kids in DC.
Oh yea, Washington DC is under Federal control. That explains it.
You want education to improve, give control to the States and let the people of those states figure out how to spend there education money.
I want no part of a Federally a controlled school.
__________________________________________
mmm, Federal control of Heath Care?? That is the only way to do what he is staying on this subject. You can not decrease the cost of health care just by waving a majic wand.
______________________________________________
Oh Obama is going to tell us how he is going to pay for all this.
Now he really sounds like a Republican. Cutting Government Waste and eliminating government programs that don't work.
Lets start with
Department of Education
Department of Energy
FEMA
Homeland Security
CIA
FBI
and of course, the IRS
plus many more that should not be in control of the Federal Government because they are not listed in our Constitution. They are States responsibility. (CIA and FBI need to be rolled back into the Military, where they were before)

Hey Obama, did you not see that the US agreed to a withdraw of our troops by 2011??????? You and McCain will have to follow that or be viewed as the aggressor again.

Yep, that is what I heard.
Obama even mentioned the fact that Roosevelt got us into WWI and Kennedy got us into Vietnam. He forgot to mention Truman and Korea.
_________________________________________

Says he is pro 2nd Amendment, but says that rural and inner cites should be treated differently???

Don't get me wrong, Obama is a big money candidate and isn't a whole lot different than McCain. He will not pull us out of the war, and he takes as much money from big business as any other candidate (especially from the banks). Even more importantly, in his Hope book he is clear that he supports globalization and other big business wet dreams.
That said, he's still a better candidate than McCain if for no other reason that he is quite well organized, much better at running his campaign and seems to be a much clearer and better communicator. Let's not forget that he took on the powerful Clinton clan, out organized them, and beat them at their own game...
:)
As for Palin, isn't she the Governator who asked that her ex-brother-in-law be fired because she didn't like him? Hmmmmm, politics as usual.
So, how long before we actually get a real candidate? It's pretty sad when the best candidate that we've had in the last 16 years is Ron Paul. I may not like everything he stands for but I can still respect the man.

Some light reading. My father was a Republican, an Ike style Republican. Today, if he was still alive, he'd be sick to his stomach. Here's a nice read on thinking about what the Republican party should be.
What can be done to salvage the Republican Party? Even Gustav is more of a haunted reminder of Katrina than a do-over. It's presidential candidate openly scorns the party's corruption. Sarah Palin was elevated to cater to the evangelical base, but her primary asset is that she challenged the cronyism of the party's leaders in Alaska. It's leaders obsess about what they call the decline of its "brand," in itself a mark of a party invested more in marketing than in principle. Rep. Tom Davis, former head of its congressional campaign committee, concludes that, "If we were a dog food, they'd take us off the shelf."
Few will admit this in Minneapolis, of course. Gustav has helped the made-for-TV show, giving the failed president and vice-president a reason to stay out of town. 10 incumbent Republican Senators already had decided that absence was the better part of valor.
And the reality is even worse. Democrats will win stronger majorities in both House and Senate. 28 Republican legislators have taken a look at the race and decided they'd rather quit than fight. Corporate money is buying into Democrats, picking the stock hat is on the rise. Democratic registration is up nationally, while Republican registration is down over a million since 2004. The Millennium generation - larger even than the boomers - are voting Democratic in overwhelming numbers. The Republican southern strategy has created a regional, whites only party - with even that southern bastion is now being challenged. Democratic control of state houses and legislatures is on the rise. On issue after issue - from the Iraq War to Katrina, from contraception to consumer protection, from health care to fair trade - a growing majority of Americans have turned against Republican positions. The new center is progressive, not conservative.
So what can be done? In the best tradition of circular firing squads, Republicans are sniping at one another for the debacle. The fundamentalists blame the neo cons; the country clubbers deride the evangelicals; the corporate core scorns the supply-siders. And each of them is justified, for every strand of the Republican party contributed to conservative misrule. The neo-cons led us into the debacle that is Iraq, while shredding the Constitution. The evangelicals shocked America with the Schaivo grandstanding, and the efforts to enforce morality through radical right judges. The supply-siders really did practice "voodoo economics." And the corporate cronies descended into corruption and plunder shocking even by Washington standards.
How do Republicans recover? Rove's theory of imitating McKinley and ushering in a new Gilded Age exploded with the financial crisis. McCain's wistful invocation of Teddy Roosevelt is a far remove from what the modern Republican party could stomach. The bright young conservative, Ross Douthaut, suggests that Republicans imitate Democrats, and compete for the votes of workers on the basis of bread and butter issues. The old guard, like former Rep.Mickey Edwards, calls for a return to limited government and the Constitution. Grover Norquist enforces allegiance to starving government. Virtually all invoke the sainted memory of Ronald Reagan as lodestone for their recovery, without being able to agree on what Reagan represents.
This debate shouldn't be left to those who have helped drive the Republican Party to the verge of bankruptcy. Democracy requires at least two parties to thrive. If the Republican Party disintegrates, it will only have to be reinvented. So perhaps it would be good to invite the readers of the Huffington Post to join this discussion.
What can be done to save this party? How can Republicans - having failed so ignominiously at home and abroad over the past eight years - recover?
To start this discussion, let me offer my own modest suggestion - a return not to Ronald Reagan who helped start them down the road to bankruptcy, but to Ike, the Republican Party of Dwight David Eisenhower. Eisenhower reflected the common sense, country club values of a Republican Party that represented Main Street. He insisted on fiscal discipline, and was willing to raise taxes if necessary, even as he championed smaller government. To balance the budget, he put a lid on military spending, letting the services fight among themselves on how to divide the kitty. "We -- you and I, and our government," he warned, "must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering, for our own ease and convenience, the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow."
As a former commander of US forces in World War II, he was sensibly cautious about using military force abroad, preferring diplomacy to war. He brought the Korean War to a close. He scorned those who wanted a nuclear war with the Soviet Union, and was skeptical of the schemes of the neo-cons of his day eager to rollback the Soviet Union in Eastern Europe.
Ike understood the dangers of crony capitalism that might plunder Washington. He warned us to "guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. He reminded Americans that "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."
He preached balance - in government, in society, in corporations. In his day, executives sought to expand their companies, not dismember them or ship them abroad. They shared the benefits of rising productivity with their workers. They didn't not wage jihad against union organizers.
As a lifelong military man, Ike didn't loathe government. Just as he understood its limits, he understood its purposes. So he accepted the core New Deal reforms - Social Security, financial regulation, labor unions. He understood the need for a modern infrastructure, funding the interstate highways that provided a strong stimulus to a mobile America and a more efficient economy.
In public at least, Ike and Mamie Eisenhower seemed to personify the small town morality of America. The 1950s was a time of a growing middle class, moving to the suburbs, raising families. Sure it was boring, suffocating, and hypocritical, and helped spark the cultural revolution of the 1960s. But Ike's Republican Party came closer to reflecting the values it preached than today's rack and ruin Right.
No need to romanticize Eisenhower. He let McCarthy spread hate and division far longer than necessary. While he appointed Warren and Brennan and Stewart to the Supreme Court, he was complacent about segregation. And he presided over a CIA that was running covert operations across the developing world. But he was a sensible, relatively moderate conservative who provided adult supervision for the ideologues on the Right.
Still, small government, fiscal discipline, a lid on military adventure and spending, investment in vital infrastructure, acceptance of Social Security, Medicare, financial regulation - this might go a long way toward allowing today's Republicans to recover from the lacerations left by the New Right marauders, and begin once more to offer America a sensible alternative, not an extremist nightmare.
But please, join the conversation. Can this party be saved? And if so, how?

Vote carefully this year
I just wanted to move this post to the front again. There used to be a time when they served us. I might add as a tag that they showed up with all their rich buddies in tow...

Oh look, more light reading on Mrs. Palin:
WASILLA, Alaska Earlier today, First Lady Laura Bush urged us to remember Gov. Sarah Palins record as mayor of her hometown from 1996-2002 when assessing her experience. I agree.
Driving around this city today, I decided it looks more or less like a string of strip malls, 45 minutes northeast of Anchorage. I couldnt help but think that being mayor of a place like this would be something akin to running a large neighborhood watch.
The main highway that runs through town is lined with new big-box stores, including a Target and a Wal-Mart. A handful of fast-food chains as well as some local restaurants also sprinkle the main drag. Breathtaking mountains, the peaks still lightly dusted with snow, create a striking backdrop. Despite the chain stores, this small city feels distant from the rest of the world. Id have guessed Palin would have run the city with a were in this together theme.
It turns out she had a somewhat different approach. If a small-town mayor ever ruled with an iron fist it was Palin. Eleven days after taking office in 1996, she mailed letters to each of the citys top managers requesting that they resign as a test of loyalty.
The Anchorage Daily News at the time reported the strange events: (via Nexis)
Mayor Sarah Palin sent the resignation requests Thursday to Police Chief Irl Stambaugh, public works director Jack Felton, finance director Duane Dvorak and Mary Ellen Emmons, the head of libraries. A fifth director John Cooper, who oversaw the city museum resigned earlier this month after Palin eliminated his position.
Cooper initially resisted resigning, but to no avail. Palin also later fired the police chief, saying she knew in her heart that he did not support her. She left the head of libraries a letter saying she was out though Palin later decided to spare the librarian after being convinced that she would tow the line.
The whole saga is unusual considering Palin prides herself on being independent and seems to enjoy butting heads with her own party. But, this sounds like she requires fierce loyalty of those who work for her.
Im still reporting on Palins time as mayor. More to come soon.

How about that abstinence-only-education-in-action? Or that she just got a passport to go to Iraq? A VP candidate that's been out of the country once?

How about hat abstinence-only-education-in-action?
"It worked so well for my family...."
Ok, that was a cheap shot but too good of a line to let slide.
And a well put message by Obama on leaving family out of the race.
Or that she just got a passport to go to Iraq? A VP candidate that's been out of the country once?
Did not know this. Just wonderful. But she's from Alaska! (And McCain was POW, did you know!)

BTW - go look at Za's Is this America thread. There was a time when this would not have been allowed. For those who think Obama, or Clinton for that matter, would have fixed this, think again. Obama has stated publicly that he will use the same kinds of signing statements that Bush used. the ones where when he doesn't like a law he simply writes that he isn't going to obey it.
I'm moving more and more to the vote all the bums out platform.
You're not on ignore yet. I saw Za's America thread. I thought it was a little hysterical. In Russia, first they arrest the independent cameraman. In China, there never was an independent camera man.
The fact that there were anarchists planning a riot who did riot won't help the poor innocent peaceful protesters prove that they were just planning on building a brick dog house with those baseball sized brick fragments. :D

Anyone see Tucker Bounds aggressively not answer Campbell Brown's question about Palin's foreign policy experience? Quite amusing and somewhat embarassing, IMO.
And this gets better... The McCain campaign is pulling an interview from CNN because of they didn't like what happened. Wow. Your side gets surprised by a question -- which had several acceptable non-answers -- and your response is to throw a fit? "Never get into a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel."
Even the Republicans working for CNN couldn't believe it. They presented all the outs and wondered why Bounds didn't go those routes. (Answer: He didn't know anything about Palin.)
EDIT: And in response (my opinion), Obama will appear Thursday night on Bill O'Reilly's show! Wow, indeed. He landed his first punch last Thursday and is following it up with another jab on what is supposed to be McCain's night.

Too many posts but...
Bush and his "angry left" comment made me wonder if he realized that Hillary didn't win the nomination or that the anger is more widespread given his current approval rating. Plus comparing them to the North Vietnamese wasn't too bright.
Had to miss Thompson's speech and it looks like I missed the best one of the night.
Lieberman is fortunate that his constituency will forget his speech when he comes back up for re-election. Otherwise, he just gave his Senate retirement speech. And while his speech was soundly written, it was poorly communicated IMO. He looked like he was trying too hard to be comfortable.
Wish Ron Paul had been able to hold his speech in the Xcel Center. That placed needed the energy based on what I saw.

Concession?
Nice. :)
Considering he a "maverick", maybe McCain would just run without one.
And does a real maverick vote with his party 90% of the time? The only maverick I've seen in this election is Ron Paul. (And no Bryan, I'm not converting. :) But I respect a politician who is capable of doing his own thing and is still able to maintain his seat.)
