4- rounds of 21 holes sounds good, with monday being a Holiday who cares what time we get home sunday night. :)

ok here is the deal -- this is just the rough draft -- but demand has been high -- so a rough( AND I MEAN VERY ROUGH schedule)

first of all -- i am not limiting any divisions & i am making them all available -- so point being -- there are 110 slots with 15-20 of those already filled -- so sign up or be left out --
there will be one ghost card -- 2 rounds saturday -- 1 round sunday -- final 9 for top half of mens open & adv divisions --
yes -- i will try to make the 9 as tough ( if not tougher) then i did at dripping springs -- this will always be the case on my 2 day events

saturday morning -- if per chance it isnt full -- i will take signups until 7:00 am saturday morning -- if it is - you will go on a waiting list -- player meeting around 8-8:15 & i would like to start first round around 8:30 in the morning & 2nd round around 1:30


same start time on sunday for both rounds on sunday -- again sunday 2nd round will be final 9 for mens open & adv division
-- no need for other baskets -- if i added more holes it would be too much for most players to handle i think -- 2 rounds of 24 or 27 -- thats 48-54 holes in a day--

lastly -- i am going to try to do the awards around 5 PM sunday -- plenty of time for everyone to get home -- NO i will not let you grab your payout before then -- anything else -- let me know -- i know jay & des will be doing some games on sunday to help raise money for EDGE - we will be doing raffle & a few other things as well --- sign up -- it WILL FILL

I believe he is including open masters in the final as well as open women and that is the folks that are in the $$ in the finals or at least that is how it was at his other event. Also Monday is not a holiday for most. personally I would like to see 3 rounds of 21 than final 9. that is the perfect amount of golf. but that is my 2 cents. Why PDGA?

if you have open in front of one division why not both. or just have pro and masters but not open pro and Pro masters :confused:

Open means open to all. Masters is not open to all, just us old farts.

I think some important considerations for how much golf is played on sunday should be:

1) Most people attending this tourny will be within a two or three hour drive, so is there really a need for most people to finish play at noon?

2) If it can be accomodated, everyone should get to play as many holes as possible. Nothing worse than finishing at noon and sitting around all day while others get to play. Ala Red Rock and Octoberfest.

The term "pro" is in front of both to indicate "professional" aka "plays for cash". :) "Open", in PDGA division-speak, means "no age restrictions". That is real and how it is today in the PDGA.

Funny I think I played more longdistance events then you did this year. BTW I don't live in houston and that was my 1st round within 45min of downtown I've played in 8 months.

I concur with this. I've seen MA3 be the backup with FW1 getting the blame.

Sometimes the ladies are slow and sometimes they aren't, but they always get blamed for the back up!

My assessment was based on what little experience I have in arranging cards/fields/pools and obtaining the feedback from players whom find it necessary to "blister my ears" about issues such as that.

In truth...a lot depends on the sum of the individual players on a card...one really slow guy can have a serious negative impact on speed of play...put 2 or 3 of them on it and...

Generally speaking though...on really long course layouts (such as what's being implied here) the card of females (recs too) take longer because they require more throws to complete the hole. At that point, it can be reduced to math for the most part...

I just did a little checking on some of the recent tourney results and as long as the FA1s played from the same tees as the MPGs, they have similar numbers of throws with an edge going to the MPGs by an average of 3-4 throws per round per player.

ok so here are a few more details -- talking the riverside guys last night sounds like there is going to be a Disc for each AM that is pre registered(which should be all of them) also i think that they will be bringing some things for the raffle ( I heard the word IPod mentioned ), Jay & Des will also be there & either on Sat or Sun between rounds be having some Ring Of Fire contests with various items up for grabs -- cost per game will be $.50 cents - $1.00 is my understanding. The Guys from Victoria are willing to pay for 2 nights at the Quality Inn you can buy raffle tickets from me anytime between now & Saturday -- winners will be drawn immediately after 1st round is over -- do not need to be present to win -- we will call out the names of the winners -- they were willing to pay for 2 nights for one person -- but to be fair to everyone i wanted to break it up & allow everyone that is coming & is not from houston the opportunity to buy tickets -- so that it covers 2 persons for one night instead of one person for 2 nights --
i will also be doing at least one CTP a round for various holes & will have prizes for that as well -- -- i would like to urge everyone that is wanting to play to sign up now - the sooner i know who is playing the more time i have to make sure the event is better for those there -- just as a side note - i dont know if titledisc has a way to actually cut off once the 110 is reached so if not -- as we get closer to filling up i will be going by the date & time stamp on the titledisc submission form -- if you would like to stay on a waiting list if you dont make the cut to keep you slot open that is fine --

Hey on hole 7 make sure you run the strin along the cliff and then cut it back to the road like 50ft behind the basket. Last year we had a guy go over the cliff past the line so he still took a three because he wasn't ob occording to the line.

Let's see what we are looking at here. Right now there are 96 signed up and we go to 24 holes, that is somewhere in the neighborhod of 4 people per hole and more if more sign-ups are taken. Did they put lights up since last year. it looks like we might need them. My feelings are, 24 holes is a little much unless you set up two courses like a couple years ago, maybe it was three, then you can get more people in and make more money. Is Vinnie getting a commission off this tournament? :D
