here's one.. how is it that Gateway has Led Zep and other band logos stamped on discs? doesn't seem like it would be cost-effective to pay royalties for such art, and that's definitely copyright-controlled artwork. unless the ZOSO logo, phish logo, etc are now public domain and regular joe can profit from their commercial use, which I highly doubt.

Dave, do you pay licensing for that artwork? Did Phish win a logo contest or something?

parody is protected under copyright law. derivative works are protected, but in the case of superman + swirls, it's blatant infringement + swirls, not derivation.

It's technically not cool, in legal art theory, but on a disc, it's rad. I support the discinterpretation of disc art theory.

He had a clear x-out teebird up a couple monthes ago and had it listed as a first run ce. The early proto type kind that had the special edition stamp. I messaged him telling him that it wasn't one and he replyed, "I'm pretty sure you're right on this one, I just thout I'd do this to get a few extra bucks."

he has already told me (and I saved the msg) that he fishes about 5 or 6 of our courses every week and if he doesn't recognize the name (he doesn't golf - just takes discs) he "cleans" (erases the ink) them up and sells them on ebay..


I know I lost it, but it's hard to believe the golf family has that kind of element..darn I miss the old school golfers that were honest...I still have a few Midnight Flyers with my name on them...I'd like to see him remove the ink on those since it sunk all the way through the disc

I agree with you about peeps being snakes and taking what truly doesn't belong to them, however, from that photo on ebay you cant tell anything other than the fact the disc is a first run esp flash.

Look at the guys ebay name /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Same color and stamp and weight and the guy lives in the area! But we shall see I am going to send him a message on ebay! I thought I had read about this guy before on this thread but could not find it after a short search. Its just funny that we went back the next day to check it out and there were foot prints and then it pops up on ebay just to much of a coincident for me not to believe it is the same disc!

I just had a run in with this guy last week. He is nothing but a scavenger loser. He missrepresented a disc to me, then after I tried to contact him for several days with no response, I left negative feed back, that got him to respond, boy did that get him to respond.

You may have heard through the grapevine that I was lucky enough to win the grand prize trip to the Japan Open from HeroDiscs.

I can't believe it! I have always wanted to go but the only time I could have justified it was 2006. The problem was we were all busy with Am Worlds to ever consider a trip like that.

It was an awesome surprise but it actually came at a rough time for us with Ryne and starting the Coffee Shop which is opening any day now, so we have a lot of money tied up. Basically what I am saying is that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get a free plane ticket over to Japan and I'm not too proud to beg when it comes to this opportunity to represent Tulsa in the greatest disc golf event not in Roc Hill.

I know times are tough with the gas prices high as ever but if you could spare a few bucks and spend it on some fine plastic I sure would appreciate it. can anyone give me an idea of how much ($) the following would fetch on Ebay:

Prototype 175g Champion Destroyer
1st run Star Ontario Roc (Big D stamp)
Eco Green X-Caliber (big star stamp)

destroyer- 30ish depending on the day
roc- 20-25
xc- 15-19

It's an unthrown pre-release Proto Champion Destroyer -- very few were made -- they were going for around $200 last September... :confused:

there was just one wit the master's stamp on ebay and it only got 1 bid at 29.99 plus shipping. i sold some last october and got 45-50 each. the ones that got big money were bought by donnie olow. the rest were usually 50-75

Tks for the info. I think there were only about 160 made and only a few were under 170g... Donny probably has all the ones that are unthrown except for my 168g Masters Stamp pre-release Proto Champ Destroyer... if i can only get 30 for it maybe i should throw it :p

In a couple days, I will be putting up a used 1st run CE TL(8 out or 10 condition...probably better but i need to clean it up), an used 10x KC Teebird(8 out of 10 but probably better once i clean it up), a new early run super roc...yellow with a purple bar stamp(Innova Champion Discs) 9.9 out of 10 because the bar stamp has flaked off a little.

I logged onto eBay twice yesterday evening and both times Disc Golf merchandise was the featured item! I've been buying and selling on eBay for years and have never seen dg on the home page before......very cool! :cool:

I agree that there are runs of Pro plastic that look and feel similar to Star. But this auction implies it is actually a Star disc that was mistakenly stamped at the factory as a Pro.

Thinking a disc looks and feels like Star Plastic and stating that it IS Star Plastic are not the same.

Boy, that 10X KC Firebird sure looks familiar! That was a dye job Tim Strait did for me awhile back that I had in my collection. Don't remember if I traded that disc away or donated it to a tournament. Funny to see it again!
