Hey Chuck,
Does everyone know about the crap now associated with flying home? Tell them to pack up their toothpaste, lotions, liquids, etc. into their checked in bags or they'll have to toss them in the trash at the airport. I feel sorry for the ones who have to cross the pond! They also said to arrive 2-4 hours ahead of your flight as the lines are looooooooooooooooooong.
All I know is that during the 4 world championships I attended, I never watched the news or picked up a newspaper and spent the week clueless as to what was happening w/the rest of the world! I'm sure some don't know.

Chuck, i was looking at the present scores for Pro Worlds, and have a question maybe you can answer. i was under the impression
that there was the Open division which is literally open without protections, and then there was Pro Women (Gender protected),
Pro Masters (Age Protected), Pro Women Masters (Gender & Age Protected), etc. Yet the event results summaries on the
PDGA Tour webpages list the Pro Women's division as "Open Women." Is this a mistake in the way the divisions are listed
or am i the mistaken one?

Lowe, does ball golf have consistent pars?
Yes, par is based on consistent USGA standards for men and women. They are based on "effective length" not measured length.
What are the components/ingredients in effective length, and what has kept us from incorporating the standard.
In disc golf there only 2 factors used to convert measured length to effective length. These are elevation changes and forced layups on wooded doglegs or water carries. Ball golf has a much more complex and arcane set of factors to determine effective length.
We know how to determine effective length, as well as the effect of other relevant factors on score averages, but there are many areas of disagreement about par that keep even the top designers from consensus. So we're left with "every person for themself".

Today was much cooler than the last couple of days and there were no rain delays so the rounds ran very smoothly. A lot of golfers are still in contention so tomorrow should be a very exciting day.
The barbecue and silent auction held this evening to benefit the International Disc Golf Center was a tremendous success netting over $7,000 for the endowment fund. Special thanks to everyone who donated an item to the auction. The DGA's dontation of 9 baskets was very generous and helped us surpass our goal. The tournament made an additional $5,000 contribution to the endowment fund and a $15,000 contribution to the Educational Disc Golf Experience thanks to the generous support of our presenting sponsor, Innova Discs and the overwhelming success of the CFR Wraith.
The payout was posted tonight at the auction and will be the second highest purse in Worlds history.
Watch for live streaming video again tomorrow to go along with the live scoring.
The final nine at Lake Olmstead will feature holes 1, 2, 3, 5, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18. Semi-finals start at 8:00am. Finals tee times begin at 12:00 noon with the Open division finalists teeing off at 3:00pm EST.

Double down on the 7's. That is going to haunt him for the rest of his life. Ask Tom Langley about that!
This is Mrs. McCray:
I have to set the record straight for what happened to JohnE. He did not oversleep, it was pure human error. He was just simply late!
Mistakes happen and this one happened at the wrong time but it will certainly not haunt him for the rest of his life ! He is the kind of person who takes mistakes and does nothing but learn from them. I am very proud of my husband! We will see how his mental game comes into play now! Hopefully he is strong enough to not look back and only look forward!
I love you JohnE,
Stay strong,
Jen
You tellem Jen, JohnE will baTTle back, he is a great fighter on the course, with a great Mental aTTitude.

I've spent the last two days sitting and watchin numbers appear on the live scoring page, and I just can't imagine how great it would be if it was on ESPN.
I suggest that ESPN creates a new channel. I dont know how many espn's there already are so this could be ESPN15 or whatever number they are up to. This ESPN would be exclusivly for sports that never get tv coverage. In the spring, summer, and fall it would be all disc golf. In the winter after all the majors are over, it could show curling or some other random winter sport. The PDGA says we have 10,000 current members, well that would translate to at least 10,000 people who would watch ESPN15.

Upstate-
The baskets are still up and we have extended the distance on the course. We just had flash floods last week and the park happens to be almost completely underwater. Last night on the local news it showed the park and you could see the baskets (or at least part of them). When you come into town, contact Tom (he's on the PDGA course directory) and we will play a few rounds (the t pads aren't marked well).

All but MPO and FPO semi scores posted. Finals are underway. FPO is scheduled to tee at 2:00 and MPO at 2:30 while the weather is cooperating but it's likely to slide later since the Women are still not done at Riverview at 1:30. With John Duesler being the only PDA scorekeeper at Riverview, the Open Men had the closest race and was scored hole-by-hole instead of the Women where Des had a big lead. The Women's Final 9 will be covered hole-by-hole at Lake Olmstead.
Here's a nugget from the tournament. On the 550' hole 17 at Lake Olmstead earlier this week, Markus Kallstrom slipped on the tee and yanked his drive in the lake. He reteed and threw it all the way into the 10m circle on the green where it kicked back into the water OB. He made his putt for the one of the weirdest double circle 5s you'd ever see.

Great stuff from Noot, the World's finest psychedelic frisbee artist. I recall he attended Worlds in Iowa and brought a bunch of original works. Maybe one day we may be lucky enough to have him back in the USA.

HUGE "THANKS" to those behind the scenes to bring those of us who couldn't attend up to date on the scoring! T'was exciting!!
For the UFC Champ addicts - What on earth does "DSL" mean? I googled "UFC+Wrestling" and looked on several sites but of course DSL got a boatload of hits.
Please, so I can sleep tonight... what on earth is DSL with regard to the UFC?
THANKS!

Massachusetts brought home $190, yea we are that good. Timmy Walsh finishing 42nd. Thats pretty good for a northern boy down in the rediculous southern heat. I'll tell you what though, all you southeners can have your heat, b/c throwing discs is so much better when there is snow on the ground.

Thanks to Brian Graham Pete May and the many many volunteers who made this event special. This truly made me feel like a professional for the first time in my life. Spotters telling me where my disc was and if it was in bounds. Water everywhere on the course. Leaderboard. Camera Crews. Galleries. Divers in the lake getting discs.
Wow
What a week.

Did Des actually win $2050? Is the $1050 just a typo? Cause Burl and Peavy tied for second each got $1110....

Wow, what a week.
Took my first Worlds cash by the skin of my teeth! Last hole of the semis I was 4 over and canned about a 40 footer to finish in last cash. Phew!
-----------
Excellent time. Happy to see Kenny win a roller coaster of a tournament. The highs and lows were probably enough to frustrate many other players, but not Ken.
Ken canned some big putts during the final 9, but none bigger than the one on hole 3. He drove about 60-70 past the basket and down a hill, while Nate was parked. He floated it in to keep Nate at 3 back.
Two holes later, he hit another 45 footer to put the pressure on Nate, who was now at 4 back, Nate missed from about 30 and that was the last nail in the coffin, Ken could coast to a finish.
--------------
Best volunteer of the tourney: The spotter on hole 17 at Lake Olmstead. Deaf disc golfer who just upped the level of spotting for the world of disc golf. With a steep hill that players drove onto, and often rolled off of, he improv'ed the greatest new spotter gesture. We all know safe and OB, but he added rolling to the mix. I have some pictures of him demonstrating this technique that all spotters should be taught, it's like having a sports commentator right there on the course. Good job! It relieved tension on a very tense hole (especially for us lefties!)
-------------
It's nice to be able to get to any course in about 10 minutes. That was a big improvement over last year. Just wish there was a tournament central woth computers to check scores. That's one of the things I missed from the last couple years at Worlds.
-------------
That rain was really challenging to play in for the last round. Making it even more impressive that Ken and Dave and Mike played so well. I had 6 towels and couldn't keep a disc dry for the life of me! Not to mention the false lightning alert that didn't help my concentration about 2/3rd of the way through the round.
-------------
My hope for future Worlds. If you make the cut, you are in the cash. Even if the actual last place cash is say 54th, there should be a flat payout for the rest who make the cut, say, $100. It's just stinky to have to battle it out for NOT being in those last 6 places. Just a thought. is $600 going to break the bank? OK, I guess there are another 12 players in other divisions that may also have played the finals and got clipped.
-------------
Congrats to Avery for his first really big Worlds finish. His drive on 1 of the finals kicked OB off the rocks on the right of the hole. Just unlucky. I bet that less than 5 shots went OB on that hole all week. Crazy.
-------------
The finger is fine. I wrapped it for all rounds and finally remived it on the second to last hole. The dog is gone back to Las Vegas. So I'll have to find another dog to bite my hand before next year's Worlds.
