I do believe those who are having a problem checking out MAY need to click the button next to PSIgate on the area right above where you input your credit card #. There is a button to select PayPal and another that is for PSIGate. Select PSIgate if you are NOT using PayPal.

Paypal says that it sent Zonedriven the amount of money that my rocs cost...I didn't get a confirmation email but I didn't get one last year either.

....nevermind...I went back to paypal and they have a history of my order.

We have also removed the available quantity numbers. Shoppers will be able to tell if this item is in stock when they place it in their cart. We removed the quantity numbers as a number of folks were "spectating" as the quantities decreased. Although interesting, the spectating was utilizing a portion of the resources that would be available for bona-fide shoppers.

The site is still slow, but hopefully it will hang in there.

I don't know the exact totals but I have a pretty good guess as to the numbers. I was lucky enough to be a volunteer that helped distribute them and we seperated everything out by colors and weight classes ie. 177-180 red.

about 2/3rds were in the heavy range 176-180
the rest fell into the lighter weights with most of those in the 170-175 category. ?100? or so under 170

red and yellow were the most common color making up maybe 40% of total
orange and lime green came next at maybe 25%
whites, dark greens and blues at around 20%
purples at around 10%
the last 5% or so was made up of color variations of the main colors like a salmon color or something between blue and green
there were 3 visable ice clears at 169
there were also 12 dark opaque reds at 179-180 and 3 opaque whites at 180 the rest of the whites were in the 170-177 range

At about 12:15 EST I realized the server was slamed so I picked up the phone and ordered my measly 2 special blends. 1red 1blue they coildn't promise what weights but since they are all heavy I don't care.

This was before the crash so I hope that when they reconciled the orders that were in mine was one of them :)

I would be cool to get one of the 177 special blends because that is my favorite throwing weight!

On another note I have been throwing my 04 Pearl claws ever since I got it that is one sweet disc. The pearls are the best flyers imho of the 04's

How long does it take to get a confirmation email? I made two orders this afternoon and have not received an email. Both made it all the way past the "confirm order" and "continue" button presses, where I was back at an empty shopping cart.

I was at work during the "panic" of the afternoon. I tried off and on to get in, but only got the second screen, the one that told you to re-register. Then the server died! I stayed calm, and kept trying. I kept reading about what was going on, on this thread and the other Roc thread. I was amazed at how many people there were that were throwing fits. I just kept thinking "I will either get some Rocs now, or later, it really does not matter".

About 3:30, CST, I got on again, but could not finish my order. Had some stuff to do. Got back on at 5:30 and picked out three Rocs (Blue Tribal, Glow, and Orange Flags, all max weight). When I went to check out, the Tribal was out of stock for that color/weight. My computer is slow (that's why I want a new one!!!), but eventually I got three that were in stock. I decided I should try to check out with them and it worked. Later I went back and got a special blend and so I got all the stamps.

I like knowing what was avail. as I shopped, but it was a pain to have to go back and re pick when it was out of stock. Probably nothing can be done about that. Would have been nice to get an Ice, or clear, or one of the rare colors, but I did not get there in time. I am very happy just to have the four, and I must say, it was not really that stressful for me. :D

Rhett, I finished my orders just about 5 p.m. and didn't get any confirmation by the time I left work at 7 p.m. Don't know if any arrived since then since I used my work email to register. Similar thing happened last year, but I got my orders eventually. russ3523 :cool:

Wooky the only reason I'm picking mine up is I've got another order of stock discs that I have to get and then I'm off to Winthrop for a round with a couple of the guys from the shop. Was just being a smart ***.

Almost all the orders will ship UPS. When your order is shipped, you should receive an e-mail from Zonderiven as well as an e-mail from UPS. The UPS e-mail will have the tracking information. It should not matter whether you have an account or not.

Yesterday, we gathered and validated the hundreds of orders that came in. We also shipped 150 of those orders yesterday. Hopefully, we will exceed that number today.

Just looked on the site, and it looks like there are very few Tribal or Flagstick left. Wow! Thousands of Rocs sold in only 2 days. The USDGC purse is looking gpretty good!

looks like there are still 500+ 180 gram glow rocs.

Wow ~5000 discs X avg price of say $27 = $135,000, less about 40% (guessing) of direct costs and overhead = $81,000 for the USDGC and EDGE. Assuming that the rest of those discs sell over the next few months, that's a great fundraiser. I think making enough of those to cover the initial demand surge plus a couple month's worth of trickling sales is a great idea that should be annualized. Can't wait to see mine!

my order# was 156, i didn't know that until i got the email from http://www.zonedriven.com saying that my order was shipped. i also paid using paypal.

orders 190 and 206 shipped today. that doesn't mean they were picked up though.
my 160ish first order was shipped yesterday, but if you look at tracking it just started it's journey today. ups expects delivery of my first order 2/21

Ok. I just got my package.

The Special Blends are looking sweet. The Roc stamps on the red discs are light blue and the stamps on the blue discs are red. These discs are pretty much opaque.

I also got a glow and they look nice too(purple stamp).

Got my special blend for the bag this morning. it went into the bag for a round at Winthrop. :D:D:D:D

All's I'm gonna say is it will make everything worth while. The server problems, the waiting and watching tracking #'s. Those that ordered them are gonna like what they get.

Just my opinion, but I don't think the one green roc is going to be worth that much. I'm guessing just the ice and clear, cause it seems like most people think their cool colors. Again, just my opinion.

yeah, i can't remember, but i think i got like 5 green tribals...i find it hard to believe green is rarer than ice or clear....

There was more than 1 green ROC as I'm sitting here with one right now. Clears and ices?? who knows.

I've sold ice clears from 03 & 04 and they come nowhere near the price of the clear 01 or regular 01 for that matter. I'm not even sure if another clear 01 will command the same price. Just good timing. The frenzy starting to build over the 05's and the fact that no one listed one in a year and a half. And I was the one that put that last one up for sale also. Think it fetched around $210.

The thing about collectibles is you can't try to build the hype. The hype has to come naturally. The 01 was a legend both green and clear.

Rick, I'd love a flight report on the special blend. These are the ones I'm really interested in since I missed the 2001 and had to pick up 2002's on the aftermarket. I love Ontario Rocs. rWc

Russ to me it flies most like the 1 stamped 02's, not the more stable 2 stamped 02's. I'm not a big arm but I throw straight. When I got behind it, it came out of my hands on a line and held til the last 1/4 of the flight when it started to hyzer out. Not a big hyzer though. Gradual hyzer.

Zeb told me I should try it with anhyzer also which I did and it pretty much held the line the whole flight. Once this gets just a little beat it it's gonna be that ROC you know you can always count on.

Plastic is the dark red opaque like the early 05's and it's domier on top.

Plus it feels good. Grippier than the normal CE ROCS.

I agree with you. That is an ice and theres 15 of them at 179g. He's implying its only 1 of 5!

...and all he wants for this misrepresented "clear" 2005 Roc is around 700 percent profit... i wish i could make some short term investments of 25 bucks with a 700 percent return within a couple days, maybe some mutual fund companies should look into investing in USDGC Rocs as high return highly liquid marketable securities :D

I bet itl go. When people see the massive quantities of regular colors in the pick at USDGC.com, those violet ones stick out as the rarest/wierdest color of them all! If I could only pick out one of those rocs, it would be that ghostly violet!
Plus, as years go buy, that pic will document them as such.

Actually, I read through the listing and the seller never said it was clear. Just a rather long winded rambling about the violet looking like it was imbeded in the center of the rim. Looking at the pic next to the monitor, it does look like a neon light inside the rim.

i managed to snatch up a clear flagstick/ silver stamp...starting bid...2000 :D

Do you owners of the Ice or clear Rocs really expect such a massive payout within 5 years or after? I have no doubt the 05 on Ebay will sell, but what about the Ice Roc on there now, the graffiti version of which only 4 were supposedly made? Technically, thats rarer then any isnt it?

what did you get? there might be others out there that would be willing to trade if they got an excess of discs and read your plight...

I only bought a couple and the replacements that they offered, while not what I wanted, will do me just fine.

At least they are Rocs and I paid $25 each.

I ended up with a 180 orange flag stick and a 171 orange Tribal.

ordered a set of 4 and after the dust settled i had to sub an out of stock tribal for an extra special blend (now i have a red and a blue). oh well.

i hate to break it to you, but that picture doesn't show every roc available. there are many discs in those stacks that you can't see because they are blocked by other discs, meaning that there very well could have been other "ghostly violets" in those purple stacks that you can't even see, but were bought by others.
my question is this: why is such a big deal being made about certain "limited colors", like the single green flagstick or the single pink tribal, when they are nothing more than a variation of a disc that many others have? does the color make that big a difference in the flight? i would think not. it would seem to me that once people actually start throwing these discs, the ones that fly the best/most consistent will be the most highly sought after and bring the highest prices. isn't that why the 2001's are so valuable now, because people love to THROW them? i'm thrilled about the 05's and can't wait for mine to come in, but it cheapens things a bit when some are so concerned with profiting off these that they start selling them at greatly inflated prices before most of the rest of the world has even gotten a chance to look at their own. correct me if i am wrong, though /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The purchasing system failed miserably, not the amount that a person could buy. Just the fact that a normal person couln't buy anything without having the ability to sit in front of a computer all afternoon and waste their time just to find out.............their out of it, they over sold it...ect......

I wouldn't know what to expect Gary. I'm not in that line of work. I would think that If my company had their biggest fundraiser on a set day that I would have had the proper people testing the system for possible failure or problems way in advance of the release date.

As in any business, you must test your systems before the public has access to them or at least know what the limits of your system are.

Ha. You obviously don't understand how a server works either.

Whenever ANY server takes over 1000 hits in less than 1 minute, the server will go down or slow severly. That is what happened. Don't say that other places like Amazon could handle it because their servers would think it was being "attacked" and they would shut down also.

Zonedriven did their best. It seems like you can't please everyone all the time. And instead of complaining...why don't you give suggestions...

And the inventory control system can be hard to use when there are that many ordering at the same time.
At least they called you to tell you that they didn't have your disc anymore. Last year I don't think they called anyone and gave them what they had to the closest weight and color.

If I understood the system better, I would be more than happy to make suggestions. Until then all I can do is wonder what went wrong. I don't know what it was but it was definately wrong. Last year we didn't have this many problems and their was just as much frenzie over it.

Maybe a pre-order system with choices of discs, this way they would know what to make in advance. Just a thought.

I agree with you on that point. They should have taken traffic load into consideration. I think that is the one thing they forgot to plan for.

It looks like the stuff they planned and tested (the application side) worked pretty well. It looks like they didn't make adjustments for the increased traffic beyond the normal database restrictions.

They really should have expected a larger volume when every refresh of the ordering pages led to a new database connection.

This is strange. My blue tribal looks almost like my Ice Flagstick. The tribal is just slightly darker and has a hint of purple in the rim. I could easily pass it off as an ice to a moron on Ebay for lets say $169.00, but I won't. I did get everything I ordered but I made a 2nd order that is still processing and I'm afraid I won't have as good luck on that one.

I just got a call from Innova on my order. Seems that they don't have the 2 red 177 g Tribals that I ordered (order #374), but I was able to get 2 red 179 g Flagsticks instead. Not quite what I wanted, but no big deal.

I also asked about my two earlier orders, which were listed as being shipped on the 18th. I asked if got what I ordered and he told me that they should be close but not necessarily exact.

All in all, I can't complain. Last year, I ordered heavy weights and was not too please to get only 170-172 g rocs (except for the glows). This year they called instead of surprising me. I think they've improved the system this year and deserve kudos for doing so.

Never saw any clear '04s though I have a pearl white one. I wanted a white this year and got stuck with a stupid clear one instead... :D (I can't imagine why the 12 white 171 tribals were gone but I was able to get a 180 clear flag...such is life).

Seems to me that the vast majority of those ordering did not have any problems. Sorry to those that did, but most of us didn't.

There were not 2000 connections at once, there couldn't have been for only 7k discs. However, there were a lot of people accessing the same pages. Could that have been the problem? Not too many accessing the site, but too many accessing the same page?

I had some problems with paying with paypal, so I had to re-order with the other option(my fault, not theirs). They recieved both, with only one paid for. They called me the next day to clear up the problem. They were very helpful and understanding. I think they did a good job considering the circumstances.

Another part of the problem with the server crash would be the need for the inventory counts to update everytime someone added or deleted an item. When they reopened, those inventory counts weren't displayed anymore. That would take some of the load off of the server.

Great idea......charge an extra $3 per disc to cover the ebay fee's. You wouldn't have to take 7000 pics, only pics of the different colors/stamps. Sounds like the best solution so far.

I didn't care about the rarity of my discs. I knew what I wanted. Hell my friend was telling me to get him one of the special blend X-outs and I pretty much told him no because I didn't want to have to fight for one.

Yeah, thought about that right after I posted. I was just thinking about how I posted some of the stuff I sold on eBay. I took pictures of each individual disc anyway, just so I could have a record of it. Let the people fight for the "rare" or "highly desired" ones. Hell, they're gonna end up on eBay anyway. ZD could probably come up with their own auction system. That would allow them to release them throughout the day and not have the server blitz. I'll take two 177 gram uglies please!

I got the dreaded phone call today informing me that they didn't have some of the discs I ordered. No tribal for me and no flag stamp with the color I originally chose but I don't really mind at all though. I'm not throwing them and I might not even sell them. I supported the tourney and d-golf. That's all that really matters.

I recieved my two special blends today. SWEET!!! both max weigt one red one blue they feel great. I busted out an 1994 red Ontario to compare to the red special blend. They are identical to one another.
I realy like the feel of the special blends. Nice and flexibal grippy.

Now I have to decide if I am going to throw them.

out of my 5 ices, 3 of them have a slight purple tint like that crazy ebay auction. the other 2 have a slight blue tint. The clears are clear and all have black hotstamps

I got mine today, 2 179 Yellow Tribal (with the coolest color hotstamp I have ever seen, it is a turquoise & purple swirl, it looks like when oil and water mixes on pavement, very sweet), 2 179 Lime Trible, 2 Blue and 2 Red Specials, and 2 Glows.
I didn't get to throw them yet, we got 6" of snow last night but honestly the Special Blends and Glows feel amazing. So nice I am ordering another Glow and some DX Orcs right now.
On a side note does ZoneDriven sell Pro Plastic discs I want a Pro Beast but can't find it on their site.

Quit bragging Sandalbagger, some of us had to work that day and couldn't get all those, cool rare colors :DAll I was interested in were the Special Blends and they're supposed to arrive tomorrow. From what I've heard, they'll be just what I've been looking for. Throw your Rocs, don't smoke them. Burning plastic (or bathing with it apparently) can have some horrible effects.

Alot of talk about the complete set. There are maybe 2 people in the world that have a clear from every year with every stamp.

03 I believe that maybe 12 total were produced
04 about 16 with only 1 complete set of all matching stamp colors :D
05 quite a few more made especially if 1 person ordered over 10 of them.

In previous years you were lucky to get 1 and that usually involved numerous trades or favors being exchanged.

It's exciting seeing all the entusiasm about what you're getting and so forth but remember something...

Unlike the 01 which is a legend mostly due to it's flight, you can't just expect hype. It has to come naturally. Almost like giving yourself a nickname, not quite the same thing as earning a nickname.

Can't remember what year exactly but at a Worlds Dave showed up after he had tweaked the old special edition plastic. Original run of 100 but only 50 or so were of good quality. Turns out that this new tweaked special edition plastic would later become the CE plastic we all know and love.

Here it is the true CE prototype, long before star stamped anything, the Special edition Teebird.

Show offs. I thought the real value of the discs was related to their usefullness and flight. That is why the 2001 rocs and first run ce valks are so expensive. I would never buy and Ice disk as it is hard to find in the bush. IMHO.

Got my 180g Red Special Blends yesterday. Did some field throwing comparisons alongside 179g 2004 Champ Glo Roc that has been in my bag since they came out. Twenty or so throws each and in my mind the stability is almost exactly the same with the Special Blend definitely having the superior glide. It consistently flew the same flight path on hyzer, flat and anhyzer releases with 10-30 feet more distance depending on the shot. A keeper for sure! :cool:
