it is what i did a few years ago and it is very helpful when people try to say one thing on the board and you can honestly call them out because you heard the TRUTH with your own ears...instead of hearing things third hand or though nick (which is like twisted truths)....
i gained alot of insite to the inner workings just by sitting in.....

make some time for it and you wont regret it i promise you....

I looke at the ten day forcast and it looked like there was some sun and warm weather coming in on thursday and staying threw monday. Then it looks like maybe a little more rain but all the days it calls for raing say its less then a 50 percent chance. Im bringing my umbrella but lets just say some prayers and do a SUN DANCE and hopefully the Disc Golf gods will reward us with some sunshine. Ill make sure to sacrafice some discs to the water gods when i get to Vista on Monday :D Hopefully that will make them happy and we will get some sun and warmth :D If not ill have an advantage because ive been playing in CRAP all winter :D

I didnt get my entry fee in on time and i figured that i would just PARTY all weekend because its 2 days after my 22nd Birthday and i dont want to come out there and work the rust off DURING a tournament. Ill be out at the course though kickin it with the Discraft crew and ill be in the bars and CASINOS all nite long so im sure ill run into you guys. If by some chance of god there is an oppening in the tournament and i can play then i might do that but as of now im just partying and gambling untill i leave for scottsdale. Got a report this morning from someone in Phoenix. 1.5" of rain overnight. Don't forget your gore-tex socks.

Sun is shinning a little thru the clouds today and 65 out right now. Course is soggy, and greener. All it will take is a day or 2 of sun and the course will be sweet. Dano is setting up the Memorial layout today or tomorrow(depending on rain) for practice.

Still supposed to get more rain today.

Even though it's been raining alot, it's still been very warm. 62-72 with the clouds and 70-80 if we get just 1 day of no clouds. Lows in the 50s

Sorry I missed you Ruskull. The 2nd round was much better and almost no rain at all on Sunday. Had an interesting Saturday night...did you happen onto a sports bar run by Thai women by any chance on Friday night?? They were talking about some thin guy with a big truck who was in town for a golf tournament and I figured it must have been you, so I of course stayed there until 1AM in case it was so (the fact that I kept winning drinks off of the spicy owner at pool might have figured into the length of my stay as well). Figured it was time to leave when a fight broke out and I jumped in to help break things up. Nice place, I can't wait to go back!!

After analyzing several options, the tournament staff felt the best solution for everyone, was to have the amatuers play the regular 18 hole layout, and have the pros start on the temporary holes. The holes used for the ams offer excellent and fair challenges with a course length of nearly 6,000 feet.

Dave, If the 24 hole layout is the same, or close to last year, hole 17 is the first of the temp holes. They combined a couple of the regular 18 to make longer holes(twice). Looks like good weather!

Bills right. With 4,5 and 7,8 condensed into 2 holes(like rd 1 last year) that means only 16 on the original side and 8 on the back. See ya there......

The ams are playing the original 18, no 4 to 5 or 7 to 8. The ams tee off on hole 1 at 7am. Their last group is off at 10:12. The 1st pros tee of at 9:30 on the back(hole17). It will probably take the 1st group about an hour or so to get through the back 8. By that time the last group of ams should be approaching hole 3 or 4. They will be playing the regular holes 4,5,6,7,8. As soon as they are finished with hole 4, some helpers will remove hole 4s basket so that the pros will not get confused. The same will be done when the ams finish hole 7. Take away 2 baskets, you have 16.

Russell ,locals, pro's, anybody who's played hole 23. You throw over the lake, what's the distance to clear the gunite from the Blue(long) tee? It's listed on last years scorecard as 363 to the Basket. What would you quess is the elevation difference from the tee area to the flat area near the basket? Thanks /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Those temp holes can sure ruin a scorecard.

to clear the string line bill is about 310(straight at the basket)distance varies greatly depending on how much hyzer or turnover you put on the disc trying to get to the basket :D...and elevation wise it is only about 12-15 ft(again depending on line thrown) to clear the gunite....


it's just that ususally you are throwing into a headwind also that's makes the hole seem/actually to be tougher than if everything was without 270 ft of water staring you in the face..... :eek:

That''s about what my memory was thinking. That makes clearing the gunite play like about 360 or a little less. Keith, you are right about the wind. Doesn't it usually come at you from 1 to 2 oclock if you are on the tee and looking straight at the basket? The wind pushes a turnover down and lifts a hyzer, which is bad news on that hole. Those temps require good course management for sure. I'm thinking the smart play (for me) might be throw a little right of the hole, pitch up and take my three. My ego wants to fire right at it, but reteeing, throwing 3 sucks. :cool:

i usually go for it for the first 3 or 4 discs i throw and when i'm down to just my putter in the bag and having to fish the other's, i do the smart thing which is to throw over the playground and take the ob out of play :p

but now with starting over there instead of finishing there i'll have to take all my extra discs along with me when i tee off :eek:


dammn those ams and their playing only 18 holes....now i have to start on the temp holes and try to still have discs to play with when i get to the "original side" of the course :D

The pro women(pro only, for the 1st day at least), will be playing all from the LONG tees, with all the OB. I'm sure that they will have to finish in the morning. At first Dan said short tees and no ob sidewalk, 24 holes, but then relented to some mild pressure from some of the women who want to play the same course as the men.

Hopefully the flow will be better than last year, and the women can finish in about 3 1/2 hrs. The pro grand women are playing from the short, with no ob sidewalk, so they shouldn't slow things down. As for saturday, we'll have to see how friday turns out, how much complaining there is,and then make adjustments. Adjustments will probably include short tees and no ob sidewalk, but still 24 holes. We played a monthly on the full course, with no delays, and it took us 3 1/2 hrs. At least the weather will be great, and we have more help this year.

I'm pretty sure that ALL the gunite will be OB which should take that route over the playground out of play. Last year there was a string that left that larger area to the right safe. I talked with Dan alot about that hole and he said that he would change it, and maybe even add a mandy to prevent people from going over the play area. Also this year there will be only 1 try to get over and then go to the drop zone. That should speed that hole up a little. When we played the monthly there was no wind and the hole was a pretty easy birdie.

i am extrememly depressed i am stuck here in MI. i had thoughts of making a spur of the moment trip out there yesterday, but then i paid all my bills and was left with 40 bux that i blew on scratchoffs, and did not win nearly enough to make the trip. i am there in spirit though.
i guess ill have to wait till june to go on tour. see yall out there this summer! only 12 weeks and 6 days away!

I remember that. I don't think he actually led after the first round, but he was one of the earlier tee times, and had the lead for quite a while; once Kenny, Barry, and the other real players came in, he was back a bit, but still in the top two-three cards. That lasted until Saturday.

It only takes 4+ hours when you're on the card Magirly.

Sunset is at 6:30, so there's useful light until almost 7:00. We're hoping the women get within a few holes of finishing tonight.

Theo reported that with 8 minute tee times the ams were actually spaced out too much, so they'll move to 7 minutes tomorrow (the pros will stay at 8 because they play a tougher course). That'll have the pros starting about 1/2 an hour earlier tomorrow. Add a handful of dropouts and no-shows, that could shave another 8-16 minutes off of the last tee time. I think the rest of the weekend will go fine.

We're getting localized heavy showers in San Diego right now. Any of this going to get there in time to make Sunday interesting? :)

I only report the FACTS.... and those facts are that I have already heard of "issues" that certain players have with the way things are going. Im not there so I guess I dont see the "Big Picture" (cant see the basket from the tee either by 6:40 or so Im told /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif)

Fact is that the tournament was said to be FULL.....
I was going to attend but didnt get my entry in soon enough :(, then all of a sudden the field GROWS by 70 players. How the heck did that happen. Did some "poor old touring pros" forget to send in their entry because someone didnt "Hold their hand?"
