Yall with your accurate throwing distances need to be a liTTle more reallistic.

Usually people that are proud about how far they can throw usually can't do anything with it once they get to theyre disc....Here is the usual take from that guy. " **** I'm da bomb-diggity I just threw fo-fitty" then it's usally a 100 feet from the basket and then its a 3 or FO putt. :o

Yes... Usually /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Mills St is the happening spot in the P-H-X! So there you go! You should take some of my advice and expierience some of the night life in AZ, it's pretty good! You can play poker in dreary cold Detroit any ole night. Get out and enjoy life in beautiful AZ! :D

I'm gonna stay home a watch my Star Trek betas. Yes, that would be the prime directive!

Now you're not coming? Or are you calling the hotel home?

I was pretending to be a nerd, like most ams!

Not sure if i can make it this year with the new job and all. Still sick from 2002 when I missed my tee time and had to play open. Not really. I beat Brad Hammock by 10 shots. That was good enough for me.

The Memorial is definitly my earliest "favorite" tourney of the year. I want a laughing ducks mini! I like Flicka's too...and what's next door...another story...

I like to drive to this tourney to have my car, but if I do come, I'll be pressed for time and have to fly. I hate flying, except for that time I was on that space ship. The probing was the worst part of it, butt the first class leg room made up for it! :D

Now that they're going head-to-head on the same course, I think Ryan and DGPimp should have a friendly competition...whomever throws pin-high on the longest hole wins. Fall short and it's nothing, and no bonus for too-long bombs. ;)

I would say all you need is a 400 ft hyzer and a putt to play Vista. You only need to throw rollers if you are a weanie arm. So tafe i guess you should bring your roller  Very righty friendly in my opinion. The pro set up though its really tought because there is OB EVERYWHERE. The AM setup it alot easier. Also the grass is not green during the winter, so rollers are good. You need to play the holes wide because of hard skips. The course is in a drainage ditch that doubles as a park. Some of the baskets are on the upslope sides, what we here in AZ refer to as "elevation". OB for pro will be tight on some holes, with all sidewalks and beyond OB. There's about 5 holes 400-450' and 4 around 550. The rest are between 300-400' wide open, some mandys. What is tough about the course is, trying to putt with the scenery skating by... :o

I would say you have a very good chance-Pimp. I had a really bad year...as you can see, my rating has dropped to an ugly level. It sucks when I have been averaging 2 to 5 down at DE Laveaga...But I fold in tournaments. Maybe we will be grouped...and I can show you my awesome approach game :(

cbdiscpimp
Jan 21 2005, 02:51 PM
That would be sweet to get paired together. You could show me your approach game and i could show you my driving game. Maybe we can teach eachother a thing or two cuz i could really use a great approach game. I feel i could save 3 4 strokes a round if i had a good solid upshot :D

No matter how i play i know im going to have a freaking blast. This is one of the best tournaments of the year and the competition and the weather and the partying is all great. Im going to try my best to win but if i dont oh well. Hopefully i can also qualify for USADGC there this year. Last round killed me last year

Jan 21 2005, 02:58 PM
Hey Matthew,
Yeah practice your controlled righty hyzer. You'll be used to the skips, ala the snow/ice in Ohio. The OB's are everywhere, I had 2 ob's first round, 2(on the same hole) the second round, and 4 the third round. That few of OB's was key to my game. It's not like USDGC ob, in alot of cases, you don't get your disc back, SPLASH! If I only could manage my game at USDGC like I did at Vista
A controlled roller is key as well. I always make a point of playing a round with Danny, he can roll that course like no other. You don't have to throw it hard, the ground is like concrete. Wait, why am I telling you, I need to beat you!!! ;)

Yes the scenery can be very distracting :o

Thanks Timmy,
I appreciate the info. I wouldn't worry about beating me though, I'll be lucky to get to practice besides a couple of ice bowls. I'm lucky enough to get off school for that time, but that means hell for about a week before and for about a week after. Especially since some of my finals will probably happen the next week.

Jan 21 2005, 11:26 PM
I don't think the AM layout requires a roller. If you can throw a 400 foot hyzer, you won't be putting much either. There's a stretch on the AM course that my friends refered to as "Birdie Alley." It's on the Duke's side of the water, and there are about 4-5 identical holes: 400-430 ft. righty hyzers. Those holes can separate you from the pack if you get them.

The greens are super quick. If you're driving, put the drive 40 ft right and short, and it'll skip the rest of the way there.

I think I'll play the round this year on blades and in my hotpants to disctract those I'm shooting with. I've been told I have a world-class keister. :D

Yes. The Memorial.
This was my first tourney ever last year and it has got me hooked. Lookin forward to throwing discs over the water and not in it, :o. Learned a lesson when i carried 5 drivers, 2 up discs, and 2 putters, then lost 4 of those drivers in a round.
Instead of carrying 30 discs i worked on some control this year. No 450-500ft drives here, just gimme 350' and the occasional 375-400' (no water) and im smilin.

Well, im happy to get in this tourney. Looking forward to celebrating a year of disc golf and getting schooled by all you legends. :D

On another note, I was wondering if any of you that are coming out are musicians? It would be nice to get a little jam session together at my studio. It was supposed to be 450 originally (I don't know if that was each or total), but they were having problems.

Seriously though, I have no idea if you have a chance, I've never seen you play! I do know that there will be a lot of good golfers in our division, so if you win, you will have to play very well, and I think that is everyone's plan.

And I do like taking of my shirt!

Well i will be at the course on Monday. I will be practicing all week long and my game has vastly improved since i played there last year. My goal this year is to have No water strokes and no OB strokes. That will shave about 8 strokes off my score from last year :D

I love this course. Righty hyzer HEAVEN :D

no OB's will shave 22 strokes of my score from last year /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Anybody have any idea of a tenative schedule for tee times? Will the ams, open ,or masters tee off first? Thanks.

It'll probably be am division first on all three days. We'll move it around though so it'll be Advanced one day, Intermediate one day, and Women & Adv Masters one day, or something like that.

Tee times will start at 7:00am.

While the web site has not been updated, the tournament is now full!!!

As soon as I get the final numbers, I'll start banging out exact tee times.

If the tourney is going to have a ton of OB then expect Dave Vincent to do very well! His home course is loaded with OB and he has become quite accustomed to playing accurate and smart golf. And he is a good putter as well, I'm expecting a top 5 finish from him.

The pro setup had a TON of OB. The am setup its easy to stay away from the OB if you are a decent golfer. When i played this tournament i was rated 866 and no where near as good or smart as i am now. Its not a course where OB is a factor unless you are a pro. I just want no OB strokes because it cost me my qualifying for USADGC at this tournament

Having seen both of you play, I'd say it'll be a toss up. However, I am picking who I think will win RIGHT NOW, putting my pick in an envelope, and sealing it. Maybe I'll bring the nomination envelope to the tournament as motivation for you rascals. :D

To heck with that winning stuff; I want to know who drives furthest!
...I guess my stipulations in the DG-relevant, 'best drive' stake [see manifest, elsewhere] added-up-to: "too S.A.T.".

OK, how about CTP [that's shortest putt, guys! ;)] on the longest, period, hole, period, gets *****/scratch?

Drive long, get knuckles into, Oooogg!!

Ok, the web site has been updated.

Mark fixed the open division missing names. The list of registered players is not completely up to date, we should have the final list, and first round tee times this weekend.

I've seen them both play too and my money is on Mills. He's a bit more seasoned and certainly more well traveled.

I can't believe I'm not going to be there to see it! :(
