We still need an advanced player, an advanced master, and an am woman (we have a lead on the adv.mstr and am woman, but not definite yet). We are in great need of an advanced player. Preferably someone good enough to offset the lousy intermediate guy we have had for years and who won't go away but doesn't win many matches (me :D )

Dan Mueller might play adv.mstr again if he has to, but he'd rather staff so he can sneak away and watch the Michigan/OSU game.

I just read the Texas States thread. I want to make sure everyone knows up front that the Texas Team Championships, for the fifth year in a row, will have 0% payout. Big player package, trophy discs for the top teams.

Once a year, we have a unique event for fun, pride, and "the love of the game." If you don't buy into that concept, we respect your opinion, and we hope you can join us some other time.

Here's what's news so far:

* Lewisville returns!
* Live Oak and The Woodlands move from Emerging to Established
* Other new teams may include Longview (where they've only had a course for a few months) and Cat Hollow. As always, there are rumors about a return of Round Rock.

We do have room for a few more teams, so if you're thinking about it, let me know.

As for free agents, if you're looking to join a team, please:

a) talk to the captain of your home course team
b) e-mail me directly at [email protected]

All rosters must be approved by the director. We encourage captains to fill their rosters with players who consider their course their home course. When that's not possible, we will approve the use of free agents. Since rookie captain Tasker has already announced putting a Corpus player on his roster, we will let it slide... this time.

Our system isn't perfect, but we still try to do our best, guided by the spirit of good sportsmanship and fun.

Just to add one more thing to what John Houck wrote, there are always teams looking for female players. If there is a woman not already on a team, I am sure you can find one. Post here if you need a team, I'll bet you'll be snatched up quickly. Thanks Team Pease for picking me up last year. I'm already on a team this year.
Teams is a bunch of fun. Who needs pay out when you have that much fun? If you like camping it is perfect. If you don't like camping, there are a couple hotels within driving distance. However, camping really adds to the experience. I highly recommend the Teams experience to everyone.

It's going to be a good time. Team Lewisville had the pleasure of visiting the course this past weekend. Dave 'My 4x4 can go anywhere without getting stuck' Vaugh promptly got stuck out by hole 12's basket on the River Course Friday night. Ryan "I don't know where I'm going' Schwark got stuck out by hole 5 on the River Course looking for the campsite. It rained hard and we spent Friday night walking around in the Chocolate Fudge that used to be the road looking for all the lost campers. People whose flashlights gave out after they got deep into the course. I can only imagine that the event itself will only be more fun!

Yes. Someone needs to drive out to the Gazebo as well as hole 5 and hole 12 on the River. That way, everyone else who knows how bad it can get out that way when it rains can laugh as they're driving away on Sunday looking back at the unfortunate team waiting for the roads to dry out. Like I told everyone who arrived this past Friday night: Don't take your vehicle beyond where the World Doubles tent was this year. But we all need a good laugh and I'm sure plenty of people will be happy to come visit and take pictures. Shall we have a contest to see which team gets the most vehicles stuck on some remote corner of the course?

However, if the Cat Hollow course is one team, then the other teams should be either: Old Settler's or Round Rock club team (Double "R" team).

If it is a club team, then they get to be held to the same standard as other club teams like Waterloo: players must be active club members (current on dues) from the area. Otherwise you gotta start going to John for exceptions.

Oh... with "active" also meaning participating in club activities like meetings, minis, work days, tournaments, etc.
