here it is guys....remember this is a public forum....be on your best manners.

Feb 28 2003, 09:34 AM
OK for the weekday evening meetings at a local dining establishment. I'll attend as besy I can. I seem to live in a parallel universe where weekday evenings are MUCH more hectic than weekend mornings or evenings. This is probably due to my ancientness and to possession by teenagers.

Robby (what are manners?)

Feb 28 2003, 02:30 PM
If anyone knows how to get in contact with Joel Hill would they please let me know. The BCDC seeks the return of the CTP mini pole hole for the next BCDC monthly. Your help is appreciated.

Mar 01 2003, 11:31 PM
I think you can delete the other thread Chris I got into this one.

Brian

Don't you bump up to Master's soon you crazy Diamond!

Playing Valley 2nd round???

Mar 03 2003, 10:59 PM
Oh, thats right Steve your a pro now, thank god I don't have to get crushed by you when I move up to advanced

Mar 03 2003, 11:49 PM
who from the dur-ham gang is going to the am crosstown........lets get a plan going. mabey steve will let us borrow some of that mojo.

Mar 04 2003, 11:48 AM
now people are askin for the mojo? you gotta EARN it. i got my mojo workin the crosstown...

Mar 04 2003, 07:09 PM
F.Luke, EW!!, and J-BLO will have the majority of the MOJO with them at the Dogwood. We have a couple of new prospective members that have been earning their stripes, and could solidify their place at the Dogwood AM this year, but Team MOJO must be in agreement. It will be discussed at the next meeting of the minds. They know who they are!
I have no doubts that the MOJO will be well-represented...

Dave...you going to answer me, or do I have to come whoop you to get an answer?!?

Mar 04 2003, 10:33 PM
Hey Steve, nice weave! Crosstown event here in Durham. Did I tell you I shot 5 under in 21 minutes at Valley springs? Master that young man. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Mar 04 2003, 11:02 PM
wow!!!!!! thats awsome dave....oh thats right i saw you doing it. well mabey Dave will let me borrow some of that McQuayjo for the crosstown. if not before i will see ya at Sal's.

Mar 05 2003, 12:04 AM
Team Little Mojo will be shooting for pars and a top 20 finish at the Doggy Crosstown. Can you dig it?

Mar 05 2003, 03:06 PM
Dave, Is (4 under in 19 minutes) better than (5 under in 21 minutes).

Gary

Mar 06 2003, 08:40 AM
Lets see, 19 - 4 =15,21-5=16. Yes ,Gary that is better.Nice work.Lowe Bibby helped me out with this formula, another way is 19 score 50=69,and I had a 70. I like the Low numbers better. Thanks for giving me something to shoot for. Hey Chris, Good luck this weekend! A little hint ,make a point to keep your run up short and simple. The tee pads over there are three feet longer than what we have here,so if you start at the back and end at the front, you will be stretching out way to much.I think the mind take over and tries to use the whole thing.

Mar 06 2003, 03:55 PM
Dave,

I did not say that i actually shot a 4 under in 19 minutes. Aerobic Golf is too risky--i cannot afford to break my foot on a rock. Just curious about the formula because i like to run a 5K and then play a round of golf. Par for the 5K is 24 minutes and every plus or minus 30 seconds is a plus or minus half stroke. The Half strokes help break ties. Play one round of golf to decide the winner.

Sounds like you kicked [*****] though. Watch out for rocks. We dont need Durham's best golfer playing on crutches.

Mar 06 2003, 06:09 PM
thanks for the tip dave. a short simple run-up and a good follow thru and the rest will take care of itself.......par will do me well. hey gary i think dave could still give us a run for the money even with crutches.

Mar 07 2003, 02:44 PM
Hey Chris. I agree. Dave would find a way to win a disc golf round on crutches.

On the other hand, I will challenge Dave to a disc golf biathlon. One 5K around the Washington Duke Golf Course loop and one round at Valley Springs. How about it Dave.
Good Luck this weekend Chris!

Later,

Gary

Mar 07 2003, 05:32 PM
thanks gary, i will try to represent bc/dc with a top 20 finish. if you guys wanna throw in a 15 mile bike ride i am in.......disc golf triatholon

Mar 10 2003, 04:30 PM
Hey Chris, Biking sounds like fun even though you would definitely kick my ---.

Later,

Gary

Mar 12 2003, 11:08 PM
just a reminder....saturday march 15 8:00 am tree planting at valley springs.

Mar 13 2003, 10:48 AM
Planting these on the course? Or just a project for the park?

Mar 13 2003, 02:05 PM
I did a mock-up of a possible logo for the BCDC here:
logo (http://www.duke.edu/~jmr13/logo/Mockuplogo.html)
Let me know if you guys are interested in using it. As always, feedback is welcome.

Jerry

Mar 13 2003, 03:23 PM
Jerry,

Great job on the logo---I think it would look awesome on some innova plastic.

Gary

Mar 13 2003, 05:39 PM
That is cool!

It would be sweet if you could add one part of the horns to the B on Bull and the other on the Y in city. Just a thought! Sweet work!

-m

Mar 13 2003, 07:14 PM
> Planting these on the course? Or just a project for the park?

Of course they're going in the fairways! VS is W-A-A-A-Y too wide open. Why, on some holes you can throw all the way to the basket without coming CLOSE to hitting any trees. More trees in the fairways is EXACTLY what is needed! /clipart/happy.gif

Mar 13 2003, 11:07 PM
Felix......you crack me up, way up. Jerry that logo is cool...Jonny Quest cool. great to see things starting to take shape. thanks to all who are giving lots, and i mean lots, of their spare time to get BC/DC up and jamming..........we're on a highway to chains.............dave do we have a downloadable flyer for the BVC, i have a few out of staters that are interested.

Mar 14 2003, 07:54 AM
Not yet Chris, but it is in the works. The trees will be going inbetween fairways to replace storm damage and to penalize erant shots.

Mar 14 2003, 09:34 AM
Great logo Jerry, Knox street rules

Mar 15 2003, 08:50 AM
Thanks guys!!!

After receiving feedback from folks on and off the board, our next step is to have a "call for submission". We'll set a date, say one month, 4/15/03 and anyone who wants to submit a logo can do so. I can take it via email in "gif" or "jpeg" form or by paper and scan it in if need be. I'll post them on the web and members can vote on them at the next meeting. So come on Diamond Dave and all you other ARTISTS out there. Lets get a bunch of designs submitted so we can have the best logo.

Jerry

Mar 15 2003, 10:21 AM
Thanks Felix for the submission. It has been posted to the following website (http://www.duke.edu/~jmr13/logo/Mockuplogo.html)
looks great! Keep those submissions coming!!!!

Jerry

Mar 15 2003, 02:14 PM
Actually, I'm already modifying it to an extent. There are a couple of things that make better sense in terms of the layout. I'll send along the new version shortly.

Mar 15 2003, 05:16 PM
Thanks to all the folks that helped plant 36 oak trees at Valley Springs today. BC/DC !

Mar 15 2003, 09:45 PM
Yes,
Thanks to Dave, Chris, Ed, Steve, Don, and Robby for helping with the trees. I hope everyone has some energy left for the Pine trees. We are planting the Loblolly Pine next Saturday at 8:00am.

Later
Gary

Mar 16 2003, 09:53 PM
A super big thanks to Gary Rains for initiating, planning, following up ,researching, and everything he did to make the TREE PLANTING PROGECT possible! Hip hip horray!

Mar 16 2003, 09:56 PM
Need someone to run the April monthly. I will be at VA states. We might want to move it since it also conflicts with the Soggy bottom tar heel tourney. Suggestions?

Mar 17 2003, 09:55 AM
The logo's page has a new submission. Thanks again Felix!

Logo's website (http://www.duke.edu/~jmr13/logo/Mockuplogo.html)

Mar 17 2003, 09:58 AM
We could try to run it the first saturday in April

Mar 17 2003, 10:40 AM
the first Saturday sounds like a good option to me...if it is moved to this date i would be glad to run it along with the May monthly at VS. We should be quick in deciding this so the web site and flyers can be modified.

Mar 18 2003, 10:34 AM
well you got my two cents already

Mar 19 2003, 03:04 PM
Club members needed Saturday at Valley Springs to PLANT seedlings ,Note seedlings very small hole

Mar 19 2003, 03:41 PM
having the tourny on the first saturday of april would be a huge blessing. my wife is dragging me to a wedding (free food.... no thanks, i would rather be slinging plastic).

Mar 19 2003, 07:26 PM
The first Sunday in April is the Wilimington tournament. Its a "C" Tier that Harold and crew are doing. What about the 3rd week? That would be after the Chapel Hill tournament. That would be 4 straight weeks that a PDGA event would be hosted in NC! Sweet!

you got...

Crosstown (Open) 3-28/29

Wilmington "C" tier 4-5/6 (daylight savings as well!! Sweet again!)

Tarheel Open "B" tier 4-12/13

Then you could insert the BVC on the 19th and 20th

IMO

-m

Mar 19 2003, 10:14 PM
Mike, I think they are talking about moving a monthly, not the BVC.

Mar 20 2003, 09:17 AM
Mark, you are correct in your assumption! For those that did'nt know, Durham runs a monthly every second Saturday all year round. This has been going on for at least 8 years. We had a mini pole hole prize that the golfer would keep for a month then bring back to recycle to another winner for a month. This ended in January when Joel Hill took the thing and then dropped of the face of the Earth. After speaking to several golfers that attended the awards ceremony at that event,We all agreed that there is no way he could not have heard the stipulations of that prize.I said it at least 15 times, like a broken record. We have circulated this prize for at least four years. Hyzer please help.Hyzer please help. Hyzer please help. Hyzer please help.

Mar 20 2003, 05:11 PM
Mike,
You mentioned Joel was in Utah? Surely he didn't take the basket with him. Is he coming back to the same address? I would be willing to go get it if its still in NC.

Thanks.

Mar 21 2003, 04:37 PM
TREE PLANTERS NEEDED!

We have the pine seedlings and the planting bars. Come on out and help plant some Pines at Valley Springs. Im starting as close to 8:00am as possible. Please bring any extra 5 gallon buckets to carry and protect the seedlings from air.

Gary

Mar 21 2003, 04:50 PM
I am pleased to announce to all Bull City Disc golfers that the mini pole hole (I guess that's what this is) that was given to Joel Hill is now in my possession!

I was thinking of creating a movie with my digital camera of someone taking the "pole hole" hostage...........If the demands were not met, then the hijackers would be instructed to film the death and destruction of the pole hole( maybe by tossing it out of a vehicle moving 60 mph.)

Just messing you fellas! I know how much this "pole hole" means to you.

Joel ask me to tell you he was sorry, and contrary to the clubs belief, he was not under the impression it was to be returned. He wanted me to ask if he could have a disc for his CTP instead?

I found out that he had left it at his moms in Greensboro. I went and picked it up last night, and its at my house. I can bring it to the Cross-town if you would like?

Joel will be back from Utah in 2 weeks. You guys can bash him when he returns. I believe him when he says he didn't know. He's really a honest person, and he is not a bad disc golfer.

Let me know what you guys would like for me to do.

Mar 21 2003, 07:03 PM

Mar 21 2003, 09:24 PM

Felix,
Any chance you came across a CE Teebird or QJLS in the pond at Cedar? It has become a popular place for my discs. Maybe its because they have waters written on them. Thanks always.

Apr 06 2003, 11:48 PM
Any interest in rescheduling given the NCAA championship game?

How did the tag thing go?

Apr 07 2003, 12:01 AM
Please reschedule, I got #4

Apr 07 2003, 10:59 PM
The meeting was good on ideas; short on decisions (not enough people to make a decision.)
It seems that we need to decide our focus.
a) new course in durham
B) building particpation in tournaments
c) cleaning up valley spring

There were alot of other good ideas but these seemed to be reoccuring. None of them are mutually exclusive but may need to be prioritized.

on the drive home I thought that giving out coupons to rec golfers for free entry fee into monthly tournaments might push people over the hump.

anyway I just but this out as an unoffical record before I forgot. It seems that I said I would ask Robbie about something but I can't remember what it is? Dave?

I have number #1 It's calling you Steve. Scared?

Apr 08 2003, 10:54 AM
Sorry about missing the meeting last night. I'm out of town Friday through next Tuesday and my wife wanted to go out to dinner.

Pete,
Just don't lose it before I get back from San Diego. Or maybe we could play sometime before I leave Friday.

Apr 08 2003, 02:19 PM
Dave,

Here is the link to the website for the Bull City Disc Club.

Pete/Chris,
Enjoy the #1 tag while you can! Be sure to avoid Diamond Dave until I get back. I will then take it and dodge him for as long as possible.

Apr 09 2003, 11:58 AM
Dave,

No, i did not find TBIRD. Im really bumbed. Or is that bummed.

Gary

Apr 09 2003, 07:06 PM
Mr. Benson,
I did not know that Sat was a bag challenge. I am eager to accept the guantlet that you have slung in my direction but I do not know if I want to do it on an unfamiliar course. For my first (of many) successful defenses I would prefer either Cornwallis or V spring. If you are worried about your abilities on either of these courses I will be glad to crush you elsewhere.

on another note
I also had an idea that we should put a downloadable (printable) scorecard on the website for both courses

Apr 09 2003, 07:51 PM
Doesn't the challenged player get to pick the course?

Robbie, how much web space do you have? Do you have enough to host a virtual tour like the ones for Buckhorn (http://home.nc.rr.com/ncdiscgolf/buckhorntour.htm) and Cedar Hills (http://www.radl.biz/courses/cedar_hills/index.html)? I picked up a new digital camera today (3.3 megapixel, 3x optical/2x dig zoom, new, $78! You read that right, folks, a whole whopping $78! Closeout special at Sears. Don't bother checking whether they have any more, I got the last one) so I'll be happy to shoot the Corn and VS.

Apr 09 2003, 08:45 PM
Can someone please answer my question in regards to the bag tag challenge? Do you have to be a Bull city club member to take part in the tag challenges? Can I just purchase a bag tag to help the club??

-m

Apr 09 2003, 08:57 PM
Michael, don't take my word as official 'cuz I'm just a lowly peon not a high mucky-muck like Chris Benson or Diamond Dave, but I would guess you don't have to be a club member to get in on the challenge. That being said, there are no membership dues this year (though we would certainly accept donations from anyone who is so inclined!), so why not join?

Apr 09 2003, 09:00 PM
Pete is scared.

Apr 09 2003, 10:10 PM
hey mike you are more than welcome to join...tag is 10 bucks.....email me.
"high mucky muck" chris benson.

Apr 09 2003, 10:14 PM
Mr. Rich
first, are you a high mucky muck?? if not i don't know if i should associate with you..
second, steve is sweatin #1 heavy.
third, lets just play casual at cedar....we can tag challenge when the weather breaks a little nicer, don't want you having any scuses.......
fourth, what the hell is a mucky muck????

Apr 09 2003, 10:34 PM
Mr Waters and Mr. Benson,
Scared like a fox (in mucky muck).

chris, Sounds good. If weather breaks random at V springs 6:00.

Apr 09 2003, 10:47 PM
See, I told you Chris is a high mucky muck. He writes [*****] in a message and it gets posted, but let one of us lowly peons write [*****] or [*****] or [*****] in a post and we get red-dotted.

Apr 09 2003, 11:04 PM
interesting.......very interesting

Apr 10 2003, 10:49 AM
Hey!!! [*****] it!! what is up with that?

Apr 10 2003, 04:19 PM
Hey,

Chuck Kennedy sent me a spreadsheet that will calculate World Class Par for a course and local player ratings. Can someone give me information about the Bull City Crosstown?

1. What courses were played which day?
2. Which tees at Cornwallis were played by each division?
3. Was the weather fairly normal or crazy?
4. Has someone seen a WCP rating for Cornwallis because i cannot find one?

Gary

Apr 10 2003, 05:53 PM
Gary,

1. Everyone played both courses both days: Adv & Intermediate played Corn in the AM, VS in PM; Pro and Novice VS AM, Corn PM.

2. Novice reg tees both rounds; Pro and Adv, one each; not sure on Int.

3. Weather fairly normal both days.

4. Never seen WCP for Corn either. Would be surprised if it's been played enough to be calculated.

Apr 10 2003, 08:52 PM
Hell,

Apr 10 2003, 08:53 PM
I was just checking if i was a mucky muck.
God, I love promotions

Apr 10 2003, 10:11 PM
Don't get too comfortable up there, Pete, 'cuz once you lose that #1 tag, you'll be just another lowly peon like the rest of us. /clipart/happy.gif

Apr 10 2003, 10:30 PM
Pete,
congrats on the move into mucky muckness. if it doesn't stop raining soon i am gonna lose my mind.

Apr 11 2003, 08:48 AM
> if it doesn't stop raining soon i am gonna lose my mind.

Too late, Chris, it be loooong gone!

Apr 11 2003, 10:41 AM
Chris,

Tell me about this bag tag thing. Is this like boxing? I get a number like 400th best golfer in Durham and have to challenge my way up the ladder.

Gary

Apr 11 2003, 10:46 AM
I have calculated a WCP for the long tees at Cornwallis to be 46.73 --The problem is i need to confirm that the Pros played the long tees at Cornwallis as their 4th round during the Bull City Crosstown. I also need to confirm that the Advanced players played the long tees as their 3rd round during the Bull City Crosstown.

Can anybody help? Dave?

thanks,
gary

Apr 11 2003, 11:00 AM
Gary we played the long tees first, and the short tees second.

-m

Apr 12 2003, 08:36 AM
Gary,
The tag thing as I understand it. You purchase the a tag($10) and recieve the next number.(the tenth person to buy a number gets number ten) You then display that number prominantly on your bag.You can challenge anybody who has a higher number. They pick a course and you guys agree on a time (within two weeks) and if you beat them you get their tag. The idea is raise some money for the club. And get people connected and playing. Who ever has number one in OCT.(sometime) gets some portion of a the entry fee ( I have heard half but i do not know if that is official.) There are also some Tournament rules which I do not think have been ironed out yet. I think it is going to be anyone you play head to head in a tournament is automatically a tag challenge. So each round could result in exchange but I am sure that has been adopted. By the way I watered the trees this week

Apr 12 2003, 09:15 PM
is your name GOD...or did you actually pull a hose out there in the rain....good job pete

Thanks for the info. I ran into Chris and purchased Bag Tag #7. It feels good to be 7th out of 400. Of course, the other 393 tags are yet to be sold.

Mike,

Are you sure that the long tees at Cornwallis were played before the shorts? The scores that i have reflect a different picture. Scores were higher at Cornwallis on the second day for most players.

Gary,

Since I have the spreadsheet with the scores (and can e-mail it to you if you want it), here's the way things played out for the Bull City Showdown.

Open/Pro & Am/Intermediate
1) Valley Springs
2) Cornwallis (regs)
3) Valley Springs
4) Cornwallis (alt)

Advanced
1) Cornwallis (regs)
2) Valley Springs
3) Cornwallis (alt)
4) Valley Springs

Hope that helps...

Robbie,

Thanks for the help confirming the tees used each round at the Bull City Crosstown. Im using the scores posted on the PDGA website. Could you send the scores that you have? I will confirm that they match what the PDGA has posted on their website. In a couple of days i will post the WCP rating for both Cornwallis courses and Valley Springs.

Robbie,

I believe this is the list but you should confirm with Chris.

Finally finished the spreadsheet calculating World Class Par for Durham's courses.

Cornwallis short = 43.13
Cornwallis long = 46.39

Valley Springs = 46.12

Remember-- WCP is what a player with a 1000 rating would shoot. For ever 10 points that your player rating is less than 1000 you should expect to score 1 stoke over WCP. Of course, keep in mind its only a number.

Kevin,
Fun trip. Got to play Morley Field in SD. We should feel fortunate that we have so many courses avaiable in NC. That place was packed. I'll be playing Valley Springs later today before the random doubles(6pm). I'll call you before I head out there.

Apr 21 2003, 08:56 AM
Since I need to get on the exercise bandwagon, I figured I'd get in an early round of "jog golf" at Cornwallis this morning....
Shot a 44 (-10)... in 15 minutes..... with one disc.... an 11x KC Pro Aviar
Sorta adds a little fun to "working out".

Tag challenge at Cornwallis(alts) Wednesday? 6pm?

Pete, stop stroking your #1 tag long enough to come out and defend it.

Apr 21 2003, 07:12 PM
is there any interest in having a tuesday "bring your own partner" weekly doubles at cornwallis? $2 per person, with winners taking the loot, and we could even plug in an ace pool for a buck and let it carry if there are no ace's. i would be willing to do the grunt work and keep up with stuff. i could even kick in a few dx plastic "ctp's" each week. we could vote each week to play either short or long tee's.
you can post any questions here, or email me at [email protected]

Robbie Dunn,

You were moving! I'd say you were doing more than jogging. Your "Speed" score (Time Throws [relative to par]) = 15 - 10 = 5! That'll be a record hard to beat.

Have you ever thought of playing the Great Eight? This year it's on 6/28.

Speed Rules:

(Time Throws) Rules

Object: To get the lowest score by finishing 18 holes in the fastest time with the fewest throws

Equipment: You may use as many discs as you want to carry.

Rules:
Start the clock on hole 1 teepad
You must hole out on every hole. There are no gimmees.
You do not need to mark your disc. Take your stance behind the disc where it lies.
OB throws must be played from the proper spot in bounds, and you add the usual 1 stroke penalty.
Stop the clock when youve taken the disc out of the basket on hole 18.

Scoring:
Add together the Time in minutes plus youre your score in relation to par (plus or minus).
(With this scoring 1 throw = 1 minute.)
For example: Time of 25 minutes throws of -2 gives a Score of 25-2 = 23

Team Speed Rules

Object - For 2 players to complete the course in the shortest time possible with the lowest score.

Equipment: Each player may carry as many discs as they want (This is the multi-disc version).

Rules: (Same as for One person Speed. Only the rules that are unique to this version are listed.)
Players alternate throws. After the drive the next player throws from the position that the previous throw came to rest until the disc is in the basket.
A disc must come to rest before the next throw is made. After the disc comes to rest in the basket, and is picked up, then the next player can drive on the next hole.
Players may proceed ahead of their partner's tee shot or throw, anticipating where the partner's disc may land.

Robbie,

You may not have been trying to be official in your "jogging" round, so did you putt out at every basket? Obviously if it's just for casual exercise it doesn't matter. But in order to have the "official" record (for what that's worth) you need to shoot until your disc is in the basket. Just curious. Regardless, you were flying!

Scott Williams,

Are you thinking about trying the Great 8 again this year? I think we've worked out most of the bugs and we've changed the format to mostly eliminate the time element (except for those that really want to go for it).

It will be on June 28th this year.

Here's where you can get more information:
1. Go to http://www.gracestream.org/dg/
2. Email Mark Faggion at [email protected]
3. Call Mark at (919) 662-4941

Hope to see you out there.

Lowe,

On my speed round last week at Cornwallis, I did hole out my putts on each hole, but wasn't using a stop-watch. My cell phone has a clock on it, but doesn't show seconds. I watched for the the clock to change minutes (to 7:28 am), then teed off. When I finished the last hole it showed 7:43 am.... so it was just over 15, but less than 16 minutes. Guess I need to grab a stop-watch :^) Now keep in mind this was Cornwallis, which is short compared to most other courses..... but I did play later in the day with the kids... and with a full bag and only shot 6 under.... but I have played a few other morning "jog-golf" rounds and usually finish in the 15-17 minute time.

This is a side note. Please read.
I have relearned a valuable lesson over this past weekend and I would like to encourage those of us who love this sport so much that the most important part of the game is not the plastic or the chains, but instead, it is the people who play the game. I have had the distinct privilege of making several new friends over the course of the last several months. Friendship is a very precious commodity in today's world, and I, because I spoke before I had fully thought and prayed an issue through, put one of these new friendships in harms way. The person that I had offended was gracious and kind in forgiving me (you know who you are), and it was a great relief to know that I had not damaged that which I truly value. Let's all try to remember as we drive the chains and nail the long putts that the person we are playing with is what truly makes this a great sport. Value the friends that you have, be quick to say that you are sorry, and deal with one another with respect and honor.
Thank you,
Scott Williams

The Valley Springs doubles were originally sceheduled for Thursdays because the Peidmont doubles were on Wednesdays and Firdays. The schedule I got for the Piedmont this year has events on Wednesdays and Thursdays(mostly). I guess we may have some discussion about changing the days...but I am still in favor of the current arrangement.

mugilcephalus
May 16 2003, 10:20 AM
Dave,
Which putters are you using?

May 16 2003, 11:53 PM
Im putting with the Elite X Challenger,Orange,167 grams.I also have an old pre patent(raised letters on bottom)magnet that I use for turnover putts ,and drives on shorter holes.

May 19 2003, 06:00 PM
Dave,

I dont know if great course is the right description. Fun or interesting is a much better description of Cornwallis. I will agree that the alt fairways are much fairer than the old ones except maybe number 6. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about the multitude of knock down trees behind most baskets. Maybe, we could put lattice between the trees behind the baskets so that everything gets knocked down instead of just the lucky throws. (JUST KIDDING!!) If only i had a little finesse. I would not have to constantly say, "Please Hit Something"

Dave, im glad you did not hit those guys dribbling the basketball up the sidewalk on 18's alt. Things could have gotten ugly for us real quick.

May 20 2003, 08:17 AM
Great course, and I was way over their heads,Like twenty feet!!! Could some one else give their opinion of Cornwallis Alternate Course???We would Love to hear from you!!! I stopped by the Cornwallis course this morning to check the board for the Piedmont Doubles tour event, and saw 5 young boys with the "Fun Caravan"and their directors heading out to play a round of disc golf!!!!!! Too Cool!! they were using discs I donated last year!!!!!The "Fun Caravan" is like a summer camp operating in several parks over the summer here in Durham.

Jun 11 2003, 07:20 PM
They were Magnets!!!

Jun 11 2003, 08:32 PM
Dave, I played at VS today and noticed several dead trees with red paint on them. Are these trees marked because they are being removed? Or, have they had the red paint for a very long time, and I just haven't noticed until today?

Jun 11 2003, 09:22 PM
Alright I should check the board more often but Dave, Steve or god almighty. BRING IT ON.
Chris I would be glad to join team fish. Thanks for the invite

Jun 11 2003, 10:24 PM
Unfortunately, I will not be able to play the tourney on sat. but will take on all takers sunday morning at buckhorn(a time to be designated later)

Jun 11 2003, 11:03 PM
Pete,
the invite is open i believe. the founder of team fish, the mighty "M.Cephalus" must have the final say....pretty much a done deal. my post was really meant to call that #1 tag out and lay claim to what is, and will be soon very soon, mine.....that #1 tag.

I got my faceplate back, Mark, you da man!! Coming to Zebulon? I can't remember how to throw those grenades in Halo, and I want to rent the game...Peace

Jun 12 2003, 01:02 AM
Bert, I should be at Zebulon...practice up on Halo and maybe you will be worthy of a head-to-head challenge.

Jun 12 2003, 11:33 AM
Dave,

Frank, TJ, and myself(Will) will be out there Saturday. I know I will play better out there because I won't be fighting a fever like I was last month(darn chicken pox).

I am also donating a Led Zepplin ProtoEdge(aka Speed Demon) for a CTP if that is ok.

Will

Pete,
Consider yourself in but I think possesion of a number 1 tag violates our principles...you will have to surrender it.

Jun 12 2003, 08:18 PM
does anyone know about the marked trees at VS?

Jun 12 2003, 08:26 PM
Mark,
This may have something to do with the tree that fell into our group at the BVC. All 5 of us came within a few feet of being crushed. The top of the tree actually knocked Ralph Vikers down. It created quite a commotion.

Jun 12 2003, 10:33 PM
hey Mark are you going to pts bonanza???

Jun 12 2003, 10:36 PM
Sweet, my man Pete the new fish.......now you need a name. I might be able to make Buckhorn Sunday???? I am going to pts bonanza thur-sun so we will need to reschedule our wilmington trip.

Jun 12 2003, 10:50 PM
Steve and Chris,
I was not trying to edge in to the team fish. I was just pointing out that the only way team fish will possess the 1 tag is by inducting me.

Good luck in the tourney on Sat. Any takers on buckhorn on Sunday?

Jun 12 2003, 11:21 PM
Mark, I marked over 30 trees in the park with the red paint to help the URBAN FORESTERS find them. Yes they are dead, and could possibly present a hazard. One of our goals as a club is safety,we are working on tee pads, dead trees, and added trees to protect those in adgacent fairways.I'm impressed by your observancy.

Pete,
Please use capital letters...it's Team Fish. Let me know when you're going to Buckhorn. I could probably make it if its sometime around noon.

Hey teammate McQuay, the answer is wildcat. It is becoming my multi-purpose disc. If I can remember correctly, my bag contains 2 magnets, one D-Wasp, one Z-Reaper, one X-Reaper, one X-Xpress, one Z-XS, one Z- Predator, 2- Photon Talons, 2 - Z-Talons, 3 Z-Wildcats and one X-Wildcat. I will not throw the X-Wildcat in the woods, only on open holes. The Z-Talons and Z-Wildcats are really good sidearm and backhand discs, except that the backhand hurts.

BTW, did you like it when I made this thread roll-over? You asked for it, I posted and it did it. That was teamwork.

Jun 13 2003, 10:31 PM
Chris,I hope you don't hurt all of the time.Tell me more about the photon Talons? I got my shipment(Victory Bonous!) and the X Wilcats scream.I switched to the Talon for my sidearm,I was using a Z preditor, but it is really overstable.I still have it in the bag for those tricky side arm upshots.

Jun 17 2003, 09:20 PM
HEY, IS ANYONE GOING TO BE OUT AT THURSDAY RANDOM DOUBLES? I CAN NOT MAKE IT BUT I HAVE ALL OF THE STUFF INCLUDING THE ACE POOL. I WOULD LIKE TO HAND IT OFF TO SOMEBODY?

Jun 19 2003, 10:59 PM

Jun 19 2003, 11:04 PM
We have a stolen basket returned!!! I have checked with Park and Recs.and they say we can put in a practice green!!!I'm thinking about Valley Springs to the right between the willow oak trees as you are walking to the info board.

Jun 20 2003, 02:20 AM
Oddly enough... a good samaritan also returned a stolen basket to the Kentwood course in Raleigh tonight at the random doubles event. Apparently this was originally stolen from hole #9 last fall.

Anybody up for playing some on Saturday at either of the DC courses?

Jun 23 2003, 06:23 PM

Thanks Pete...it's taken quite awhile to get there, mostly because of your outstanding putting of late. Have fun on your vacation. Also, I have $34 that belongs to the Valley Springs ace pool. I should be there Thursday, if not, who can pick it up from me?

Jun 25 2003, 09:43 AM
So Robbie, can I get a shot at #3, I cannot get rid of #6!!

Jun 26 2003, 01:56 AM
Mr Valet....

You should have been out for the "valium effort" that I put foward this evening in challenging Steve for the #1 tag. We played the alts at Cornwallis and he kept the top tag by winning -3... to -2.

I'll be glad to play you 3 for 6 though. But I can't do it on Thursday though since I'll be out of town on bidness. My weekend's free at this point, so drop me an e-mail at [email protected] and we'll setup a time.

Jun 28 2003, 07:38 PM
