Hey guys. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back about Disc Golfers for Cancer. It looks like the event will be the last weekend in July (July 31-Aug 1). I haven't heard from anyone from RADL about co-hosting the event, but that is still an option as far as i'm concerned. More details are still to come.
did you get in touch with parks, and who?

I can tell you that this is oe of the best courses in the world and even if you have never played it you should come to its aid in its time of need.
Save DeLaveaga - PLEASE Go Here NOW!!!
http://www.delaveagadiscgolf.com/
I haven't heard anything from RADL so i'm saying the event will be only at Valley Springs July 31-Aug 1, starting at 8am both days. If you're interested in playing please let me know ASAP. I will be ordering the player's packs next wed, so i need to get an idea of how many to order. If you can pay before hand, that'd be great. If you have any questions please post them here, PM me or email me. Also, i will need help running the event (being at the course to hand out player's packs), especially on sat., so if you can help out please let me know.
Count me in, whats the record for most rounds in one day?
Count me in, whats the record for most rounds in one day?
Planning to go for it, Dave?
FYI, the record is just over 46 rounds (833 holes) in 24 hours, by Dann Schultz and D. L. Redman, June 1985, Tourist Falls, Cedar Rapids, IA. (Source: PDGA World Records Page, www.frivolist.com (http://www.frivolist.com))
So far the only person i've heard from is Dave. Here are some other people who had expressed interest, but who i have not heard from; John Shefield, Chris Benson, Steve Waters, Pete Rich, Biran Berman and Felix. I'm going to have to pay for the players packs out of pocket, so i need a pretty accurate count of how many to order. The packs are $25 each. Let me know ASAP if you want to participate.

The packs are $25 each with $5 going to the club and $5 going to the charity. Just pay me and i'll write a check to the club. If you want to send me a check or cash, PM me and i'll send you my address. Thanks to all those who have already signed up.

I played at Valley Springs the other day for the first time in a while.... Are the pictures of poisonous spiders there to warn or just scare players?
Eric, I think the club should give there Five to Lance, and I would also like to get a Pledge form "official looking" So I can earn some extra money for Lance,Like one dollar a round. I plan to play for the 12 hours .Three rounds an hour is close to what I can peform.mabey Illl shoot for two.
I hope to get my Developer to sponsor 10.00 a round, and round up as many more as I can.If any body in the area thinks they can "hang" with me ,Bring It.
lance will get his.....so should bull city

Jun 28 2004, 11:12 PM
i agree, lance gets good money so we should use this as an opportunity.
before anyone jumps on my arse about this my mother and my father in law both died of cancer in the pasr 5 years, so keep your

Club meeting tonight 7:00 at Sals.
Due to and emergancey at work I will not be able to make it to the meeting tonight and i doubt i will be able to make it to the sat portion of the DG for Cancer event. I need someone(s) to be at Valley on sat the 31st to run then event, which basically means handing out players packs and selling the fundraiser discs. As far as the money situation goes, i think the club should keep it's share, the event was designed to raise money for cancer and local DG clubs/cpurses. But if there is going to be a discussion about it tonight a compromise would be to let each individual decide wheter they want the $5 to go the club or to lance. Anyway, if someone wants to help out i'll be intouch once i get the packs.

I would really like to be there for that, but i would need someone to be at Valley on sunday too. I know i commited to run this, so if no one can help on suday ill be there. Reguardless of sunday, i need someone to be there sat, because there is no way i can get off work that day. Please contact me if you can help.
Eric, you got me thinking it was this weekend. It is the next weekend .I hope someone can help out. I plan on playing all day Saturday. I'm up to seven dollars a round in pledges!
Yeah Dave, the event is july 31and aug 1. Great job on the donations. I got some good news. Felix has volunteered to help out on sat, thanks Felix. Also, i got the player's packs today and the glo TL fundraiser discs. The rocs and starfires should be on their way. I'm still looking for someone to help out on sunday if possible. I've still got 7 packs not spoken for, so spread the word. Thanks

From what I have read...you need only 10 current PDGA members on the roster and you can even do a 6 month provisional for free. It appears that the cost to enroll in this is $20. Am I reading something wrong?
The benefits are posted here...
http://www.pdga.com/club_affiliate/club_af_benefits.php
OK. I have little room to talk since I'm not even a PDGA member, but I'm taking care of that.
Aside from that tidbit, I don't see any reason not to have an affiliation if only for a REAL forum to post to instead of one big long thread. This is a great way to communicate w/ players in the area. Still doesn't compete w/ the Nextel communications.
brianberman
Jul 23 2004, 05:24 PM
we need 10 and I'm not sure if we have ten people who have paid their BCDC dues that are also PDGA members

we got 10 biatches....put my fishiggar M. Ceph on that list.

T.Fluv won't eva' forget the pimp M.Ceph.
Yet another great reason to get a real forum instead of one big thread. This way "T.Fluv" can have his very own thread called "T.Fluv's Biatchin' Rap uh da Day!"
I just hate having to wade through everyone else's jibberish to get to these ingeneous and inspirational ditties. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

BCDC members I have a basket I am going to donate for you to use in Durham as you wish. Should I bring this with me on Saturday for the DG for cancer event?
Will somebody be able to fit it in their vehicle?
oh yeah. thanks Mike what time will you be there and i will make sure i am there
Sorry i haven't been posting much, i've been swamped at work. The event is this weekend from 8am to 8pm both sat and sunday. Felix will be there sat, and if there is still stuff left over i'll be there early sunday morning, but i can't be there all day because i have to be at the coast by 5pm. The player's packs are $25. I do not have a paypal account so cash or check is the best. Make checks payable to me, Eric Hawkins, and try to have exact change to make it easier on felix who is already helping me out a bunch. I also have 5 glow TL's that will be $25. I ordered some of the full color rocs and starfires, but they haven't gotten here yet, hopefully they'll be here by sat. There are still 5 packs that have not been spoken for. Let me know if you have any questions.

Well it will not be 8 A.M. as I do not function that early. I will prob arrive in Durham about 10 or 11 for some DG on Sat. Will likely return on Sunday as well unless I am playing Halo.

First of all i want to thank felix again for helping out today. I still have 4 player's packs and 3 glo TL's left. I'm going to be at Valley tomorrow morning around 9:30 to play a round and see if anyone wants to buy a pack. I can't stay too long, so i'll probably leave around 11 or 11:15. If you want to get a pack please be there in that time frame. I can not stay there all day, so that will be you only chance unless someone else volunteers to get the stuff from me and stay later. If you can't be there at that time tomorrow email or PM me and we'll work somethin out. Thanks to everyone who came out today, especially Diamond Dave, who was on his 12th round at 4:45 when i was there. If you've got amy questions, let me know.

I ended with 15 rounds.10.5 hours .81 under! i WALKED THE LAST TWO ROUNDS WITH Justin J. won the #1 tag , and kept it on the 15th round(three discs wcat, mrv, magneto!!!!) asking him ,why you going to let an old man beat you?

Dave.
Yeah , keep that stuff on your fish site, please.
If you can't repeat it in front of your wife and children, please refrain from posting it here on the BCDC site. Lost one major sponsor reporting back to me ("Are you serious,)

Gotta come to Des Moines, these courses are sweet!
i don't know if i am allowed to play outside of NC. it could cause all kind of sponsorship trouble for the club.
Yeah. No dizzy. Gotta keep ya rhymin'.
On another note...has there ever been consideration for a monthly/weekly game using handicaps?
Being young at the sport, I seem to be at a huge disadvantage at all of the events. Just looking for something that I can compete in once in a while.
It would be beneficial to everyone as it forces even the best players to play better than themselves...and not just better than I play (which doesn't take a lot of skill).
get in touch with gary rains he runs a handicapped league. i think he is doing a fall one. i will let him know you are interested.....i think he will need you name though
I lied, there was no lost sponsor.I feel bad. sorry if I insulted anyone. What an easy sin to get out of , I lied.
I don't lead any potential sponsors to this discussion board.I may be crazy, but I am no fool. Stick another feather in your hat Pimparoni pimp master of the prostitutes, spreading love all over the land. ;)

Happy Birthday Dave.
I went out and played Valley Springs last weekend and the course is looking NICE. I like the changes (alt. baskets on 9 and 17 and the new alt. tees) GOOD work and thank you to all involved in the additions.

Thanks so much for the Red tees at Valley Springs! And they're concrete no less! My 12 year old son and his friend really liked the course. I threw 8 deuces from the Red tees and that gave me a feel for how Diamond Dave and the Big Boys usually play the Regular tees. I wish every course had Red tees for Juniors.
IMO with 3 layouts and a choice piece of land, Valley Springs is now the premier course in the Triangle. The long course is also sweet. The 4 extra, permanent long baskets on holes 5, 9, 12, 17 are a great addition! Thanks so much for all the work and funding these improvements!!
glad to hear everyone is enjoying the changes at the valley. guys and gals play the red pads to the alt pins where available..........NICE!!! and while you are at it....play the long tee on 6 to 7's pin.....or play 18 to 15's basket. lots of fun to be had at the valley. SO COME OUT THIS SATURDAY TO DURHAM'S MONTHLY!!!!!!!!! it's a crosstown!!!!!! we start at cornwallis and finish at valley registration 10 am 1st round 11am. come on out.....you know you want to

Will the advanced field play the longs at Valley for one round this weekend?
It would be good practice for the BVC.

That'll be Diamond Dave's call...... but hopefully everybody will play the same pads (meaning we probably won't play the longs) so all groups finish at close to the same time.

I know this is short notice, but since random doubles is now during the week...... and this Saturday seems to be open..... I'm thinking of putting on a 1 disc tournament at Cornwallis if there's enough interest. Here's the format I'd like to try (but I'm open to suggestions or tweaks).
Start at 11 am
1 round from the short pads
1 disc only
$5 entry all divisions (Pro, Advanced, Intermediate)
Payout in plastic for Advanced & Intermediate), pros with cash
$1 optional ace pool (to be split among all aces). If no aces, we'll have a ctp throw-off, so that somebody goes home with the $
PM me to let me know what you think and if you want to play.

We have already raised $450-$500 added cash. Everyone we know that this is a tough weekend ( mothers day) but we sure would love the support and we are doing our best to make this a great event. We have between 25-30 people pre-reg'd right now and we want 90. Here are some other things we are doing.
Cost of trophies will not be deducted from the entry fee.
$450-500 added Cash. Any pro divison with 3 or more players will get a slice of the money.
Free lunch on Sat. ( not deducted from entry fee).
Pros will recieve a S.S.S.S inaugural disk (Not deducted from entry fee).
AM's that "place" will recieve a award voucher that can be taken to our onsite proshop and pick their own prizes.
Big payouts.
.
Durham this is a short trip.
We have a good chance at putting in another course here in Sanford. This tourny has influence on what that course will end up being like. The Dunns have Pre-reg'd and we want more from the Bull City. So please check out our thread get the info and pre-reg.
And if i havent said this we need your support.
Thanks
Travis

Anybody see the Chapel Hill newspaper for Wed. May 25th? Check it out; front page of the sports section has an article entitled "Hooked on Golf" and it has a good size picture of Brian Spencer putting from the $hizzott at Chapel Hill on Sunday. It talks a little bit about disc golf in the triangle and some of the basics of the game as well.

Anyone know where the Durham monthly is at this Saturday? I think the last was at the Valley so I'm guessing C-wallis or crosstown.
Durham Monthly is this Saturday and is a Crosstown Event
First round starts at Cornwallis at 11 am with the second round to follow at Valley Springs. Dave is down in Charlotte at the Points Bonanaz, so I'm taking over for him in his absence. Both rounds will be from the regular tees, so come join the birdie fest!
I don't know whether Durham is hosting the 24-Hour Charity Marathon again this year, so I thought I'd let you guys know about the one in Raleigh. It will be at Kentwood, July 23-24, 8am-8pm each day. There will be six mini-tournaments. Player's packages (with an awesome full-color disc) are available for $25 whether you're playing or not. Full information is on the RADL thread at:
http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Club963&Number=381483&fpart=&PHPSESSID=
You can contact me at (919) 418-1780 or by PM.
THIS Saturday - August 20
Valley Springs (2 rounds)
Tee time is 11:00 am, so you've got plenty of time to sleep in and still make it over to play.
Plus for those planning on playing Oak Hollow the following weekend, it'll be an opportunity to work on your tight woods game.
Entry: $10 (pro), $6 (adv & int)
Ace Pool: $1 (optional)

You can blame me for that....... not Mr. Benson. I originally did our website and then we had a volunteer to take it over and nothing got updated. Now I've got to get the kids to do it or find time to do it myself.
