These comments are CLEARLY nothing but hate towards me. 100% nothing but that. This is clearly an attack against me.
Wanna know why?
The sentence used by Mr. DeCock was "Leonard and Jernigan figured they could do better."
Yet this whole time, I didn't hear a single word attacking JJ. Just me. Yet the the word says Leonard and Jernigan. Why isn't JJ getting any of this? B/c you are out to get me that is why.

I know nothing about this trip you speak of, only that apparrently there was a bad tournament, with no reason why, or identification of the tourney. If you dog it in a public newspaper, you should have enough cajones to say what tourney it is on here. That's fair. Nothing personal about this. I'd just like to know the reasons for MTL's hate and to whom he is hatin' on in a more public forum that more potential or future disc golfers come from! He does often say he just wants to grow the sport, and I want to know why he won't address the details so as to help others already actively contributing to the sport to possibly make changes to the things he disagrees with.

Apparently all he said was that there was a tournament where he and JJ didn't agree with how some things were done, and that instead of just [censored] (as so many people are apt to do) they decided to run a better event. He's obviously taking the high road at this point in time by not bashing a fellow tournament director.
If MtL wanted to take the low road and do something that lacks cajones he'd obviously spout off with the name of the event and the tournament director, and gouge that TD. Right now he's avoiding the unnecessary controversy and inevitable flamewar that would result by his bringing up the exact information.
If you really want the information stop spouting off like a troll and ask the people in private or over PM. Already Kirk, JJ, and MtL have all been identified as people that were at that event. Ask them in private instead of asking them to publicly flame other tournament directors. Take the high road on this issue.

ok... all paranoia of trying to get anyone in trouble by having them name names aside...
i was the first to post the article when I found it online (right after it was published) and posted it here as an FYI.
after reading it I had the same question but MTL said he wouldn't name names... ok... no biggie. I then replied with...
just curious MTL... i guess i wasnt wondering about the tourney so much as to what you didnt like or agree with (learning from others mistakes) ... whatever it was you & JJ did what others should do... instead of just complaining step up and run a tourney the way you think it should be run.
Have fun tomorrow everyone!
thought it was rather positive and just trying to learn as someone who TDs local stuff and might step up to TD some big shows someday. I can (as someone mentioned) PM Kirk or JJ but I dont see Kirk on here much and i've never talked to JJ before so I was asking MTL.

It really need not be reminded. Disc Golf in North Carolina is at a high level because of MTL, Joe Noble, Big Wave Dave, Joel and Christian Smith. Mike Norris, Scott and Moe Knapp, Scotty Faison, JJ, and Craig, just to name a few. These folks have experience, and have taken what works and implemented, and what does not, and corected it. I (we) should all thank them for thier contribution.

big wave... i really dont care what event and honestly have no clue either... again I was more curious as to what the 'issues' where to learn from others mistakes than to ever have him name names.
As mentioned... not trying to be negative... looking to grow/improve by learning but its really not that big of a deal to me and i'm not trying to harp on it so I will gladly let it go. At this point i'd just rather MTL not say anything since it would probably start a flame war and just say that if I'm ever involved in an event where there are issues I hope people let me know so we can try to remedy them.
as said earlier... wish I coulda made it (love playing events at different courses like that) and sorry I had to drop out... sounds like everyone had a good time!

I know everyone had a good time, the tournament was a challenge with not being able to get revenge on a course that might have been tough on you (Buckhorn). I personally had a blast and think the tournament was well organized and gosh look at all the sponsorship. It was great to have an event sponsor, thanks to Dr. Hightower and staff. I got to play with some good friends and made some new ones. I have a few suggestions that I will share for future improvement but I will contact the TD's privately. I would like that same courtesy as a TD myself. However, suggestions are always welcome from players because at the end of the tournament I want players to leave happy and satisfied even if they didn't shoot their best golf. Robert and JJ a pm will be coming your way, thanks for all of the hard work the tournament was great!

I wonder if the sponsors that visit these pages, and some do, loose motivation to put money amd merch up for tournament when they read negativity? Some things should be dropped, some discussed privately, and some up front for everyone. Handling things the right way is the only way to that we can be sure that disc golf along with other things gets the respect and attention that we all know it deserves. Let's try to work together, we will get a lot more accomplished if we do.

That's understandable as well. I can say from sort of an "outside" perspective what Big Wave was also saying - you've done enough to defend the tourney and also explain what you meant, and for the record, you did a good job running it as well, obviously correcting whatever must have made you/JJ unhappy with the other one.

To all of Polish Power's comments. Why does it matter what tournament it was? The fact that you really really want to know what tournament it was "shows alot" as you would say. The simple fact is, that we do NOT WANT TO DOG THE TOURNAMENT, THAT IS WHY WE ARE NOT TELLING ANYONE WHAT TOURNAMENT IT WAS!! We just wanted to run an event that everyone appreciated and had fun at. The reason behind mentioning that tournament was to prove that we weren't just going to complain and whine about what happened, and that we were going to run an event ourselves, maybe event to appreciate tournaments that others ran a little more. And believe me, I do appreciate it 100 times more. I've always loved everyone and never had any problems with the disc golf community. But this finding every little thing wrong with something Rob has done is a little childish don't ya think? No worries PP or anyone else, just everyone (and you know who you are) please stop acting like a child and grow up...

WOW, lets see who I can make made.
As most of you know I call MTL a friend and dont hide it.
After Day one of the Yadkin spring tourney Robert. was riding with to play my private course. Robert talked to me about his plans to put on an event because of a badly ran tournament he attended. I dont recall him tell me the Event or TD. If he did my memory is gone. The points is he has not been out talking behind the TDs back. He has let his tournament speak for its self. And it was a great event.
Things that can be done better.
More water. Never been to a tournament where the water didnt run out.
but I carry a lot with me. By the time Im out everybody else has filled up.
Have option of subs, sandwiches delivered to the course. The Cross town and the Tar heel did this. Its great for local business. And better for the players.

Dave my statement is not directed to you at all. I wrote my statement to point out, to Polish and others that may feel the same way, that there is a better way to hanlde things. I know those guys have some kind of history. I am just making a point that even if there are issues between individuals, there is no need to put it in the light. I don't have ill will towards anyone here, if I did though, I would hope that I would be able to deal with it on a person to person basis. Doing so, in my opinion, would be a more adult way to resolve an issue while not distracting others (users, sponsors, moderators, players, etc.) from reading negative comments from one person to another. If I have a problem with someone or need to discuss an personal issue, they can just know that I will be in touch privately. I was supporting you Dave and the need to drop the issue. Do you really think I would direct some kind of hostile post to you or anyone else?

As I have done for literally dozens of tournaments I supplied the ice water for the event. Unfortunately I had to borrow water coolers as mine are in storage at Holden Beach. Usually I have 5 water coolers but this weekend all I had were 2. I am sorry that I didn't have more.

Yeah he was pretty upset about his drive and he nailed that putt.
We started on hole 2 and he went 2232 to start and the 4'd hole 6.
That putt was not only huge b/c of the distance, but it got him right back going. He easily could have let the 4 and the bad drive on 7 get to his head but he made the big putt and got going again.
He putted really really well that round.

I kinda of thought those 2 aces were pretty good putts, 1 from The Pro, and 1 from a Rec Player...LOL ;). Why am I here, and not going To K-Zoo
