Wow.
It actually exists?
Thought it was just a myth. :D
It does. I am working on this right now
With a little luck there is a slight possiblity that the tee signs could be done b4 z-boaz open. Sweet.
I know this should be on the z-boaz thread, but I am lazy.
Anybody have the hookup on some concrete for the tee signs?
We also need posts to mount the signs to ....
N.E. body out there got the hook up?
BTW- dont forget , we have 2 deadlines this week.
Thursday night club meeting , 6:30 @ z-boaz .
We are looking for submissions for the club logo and
articles of incorporation.
Dont miss out !

Have you guys flipped hole 16 yet at the Z?
Soon my ambiguous friend .
It will be a natural tee for the z-boaz open , concrete soon to follow. Most of the landscaping has been taken care of , the trail to 17 is complete. All we really need for it to be functional is ..... the basket in it's new location, markers for the new tee's , and a bunch of hack golfers to lose their plastic in the boogity-oogity to the left of the fairway.......
Mace was possibly considering a par 4 status for this hole .
It very well could be . This new hole is going to be a challenge for some people. If you can not throw overstable anhyzer , u will be screwed on this hole . But that is my opinion.

ll is correct, that crap to the left of the new 16 is going to swallow up thousands of discs. good luck finding anything in that vicinity. hey lee, did you speak to levi bout that thermo-nucular-whatever it is called tee sign plastic? there is a possibility that i can get some poles 4 the signs, we need to figure out how long they need to be. im thinking 18 in. to 2 feet sub grade, and 4 feet above.?.?.?

And Jesus hates me (if you only knew ;)).
I can't wait to see 16 flipped, it was already giving some people a hard time but that crap that is now on the left will cause some s*** fits.
The issue with the stank on new 16 will be a major problem.
Soultions ???
Here is what I suggest . For the z-boaz open either stick a spotter on that hole or declare left of the fairway OB.
Funny I can hear the complaining already. That has the potential to be a massive back up , we do not need that with 90 players on the course. Especially when you have hole 1 long 3 holes after that . I know the OB ruling would #$*&$! people off, but it would flow alot better . If you go with the spotter, give him/her a stop watch, the 3 minute rule has to be followed .
Also, Goose , the wood, throw the brakes on that for a couple of days... We are working on something that may take care of that issue . Possibly , we may have indestructable tee signs .... That would be cool

How would OB left solve anything? You'd still have to find your disc in order to play it where it went OB otherwise it's a lost disc and a retee. No? The only real solution would be for the TD to declare if a shot goes OB left that there is no retee.
One pro....a backup on 16 would thin out the backup on 1. :D

Jan 23 2007, 11:34 AM
LOL.....i'm going to reply to myself.
I guess the OB line could work if there's "reasonable evidence" that the disc went OB. :D

To bad I have school every tuesday and thursday night. No fun activities for me those days. dang.....
I understand your point , but that is where the spotter comes into play. Give him/her a couple of flags and have them mark where it went out . Simple .
I am curious to see the score spread on that hole ...

Jan 23 2007, 11:46 AM
From where I understand the teebox to be, if you have a big arm and can ani something stable I could see a few people getting 2s on that hole. Would be tough. But i bet there will be. Should be interesting though!

Nope, there will not be a 2 on that hole unless somebody hits a field ace. Brian went as far to say that the hole could potentially be a par 4 . Nothing is impossible, but I doubt you will see any 2's .

I accidentally 2'd old 16 long to long. First shot landed in the "stank" on the left hand side about 1/2 way to the pin. Next shot was a straddle 2 finger anhyzer spike that accidentally went in. :D
Like I said, with the exception of a field ace, the 2 is not there...... maybe. :D

If it is not a great 2 and good 3, than it will be a bad hole. It looks like an easy 3 to me so I don't see how it could be considered a par 4.
I would like to see a good score spread on any new changes we make out at z-boaz. A few 2's some 3's a couple 4's and the occasional 5 is what I would like to see out of the new hole.

Jan 23 2007, 04:08 PM
roc there with no wind.
dont you mean AERO :D
It all depends on where the basket will be !
Pogis
Jan 23 2007, 05:05 PM
I agree with Chris. He showed me where the box is going to be. A 350 to 400 foot ani is the perfect shot for that hole. I dont see it being that difficult, unless you dont have the ani down.
It is not the drive that is going to yeild the 2 . The basket will be a lot deeper in the woods than you anticipate. Dont shoot the messanger here guys, I am just relaying what Brian told me . Besides, it the tee is going to be where I think it will be , your anheyzer line is going to be a little difficult. You will have to use a turn over anheyzer , which is not exactly known for coming back.
The only way to get to the basket is with a big stable nose down RHBH anhyzer, all the junk to the left of the tee ( stuff currently to the right of the basket ) will hinder the possibility of the overstable anny..... THINK ABOUT IT
Pogis
Jan 23 2007, 05:16 PM
Well even if you have to throw a turnover ani, 190 people, multiplied by at least 2 rounds, = 380. My bet is that with that amount of people, and with the skill of most of them, someone will get tree love and make up close to the bascket. Just my .02.
And I vote we start a new skills challenge. Shoot the messenger. 5 bucks a throw. And of course a small protion of the money will go to the messenger, if he is still alive that is. Any one else in?
Would it be immoral if I threw in 5 bucks on that ?
Pogis
Jan 24 2007, 01:43 AM

the know nothing weatherman now says 50* and sunny sat. might be a good work dAY after all.
might need 3 or 4 spotters on that hole
lee, i'm speaking of galvenized 1 1/2" poles, not wood. so what is your idea eeenyway? speak yer mind son.
Goose, for starters, I believe Pizano is spelled with a Z not an S .
Brian and I are currently brainstorming , and what we have come up with is very cool. Instead of a sign on a pole ( easily vandalised or stolen/broken ) we are thinking about doing the plastic( HDPE ) sign counter sunk into a large piece of wood ( about the size of a Railroad tie ) . Imagine about 12 to 18 inches of the wood sticking out of the ground with a 45 degree cut @ the top, with the plastic sign countersunk into the wood. This design will
A. prevent theft,
B. Keep the signs from interfering with long tee fairways ( imagine hole one )
C. Keep that natural feel on the course.
We will probably have somebody rout hole numbers on the side so you can see the hole # from a distance.
It is a hard picture to paint in words.... You will see.
The tee signs will be nice to say the least!
very very nice?
tomorrow you want to go high score for tags??

Once again the peanut was the force to be delt with @ putt night .
I managed to rally back from a 1st round loss , with 5 straight wins to meet the peanut in the finals.... With the early lead I was feeling confident going into station 8 , then PJ put up 16 from station 8 to drive the nail deep into the coffin. He is the man to beat, currently winning
3 putt nights in a row....... David Kinter rounded off the top 3 with a late defeat from yours truly. The win over david to compete for the finals was tight, with the Discboomer banging down from station 10 for the big W.
Good time last night guys, congrats to the peanut... I will get you one of these days.

Why is it that we always wait a couple weeks before the tournament to do so much?
Think the city cleared the dead wood on hole #5.
Is there any way that we can set the baskets in the positions that we will play for z-boaz? The last couple of years we did not get to practice the long to long set up and I felt that it hurt my score.

And I will be the one taking him down. ;)

Jan 26 2007, 03:40 PM
BTW- Quick run down on putt night last night.

Hole 2 : Fix pavestone on tee box, cleand ditch, mando sign
Glad to see a mando being placed here. I'm not a huge fan of mandos being placed to force a certain shot, but for safety purposes this one is needed. Safety mandos are A-Okay! Cheer. Cheer.

Especially on that hole ... Hole 2 design is awesome, definately on of our siggy. holes out @ the z. To play the cheater rout when the basket is long does that hole no justice.
If anybody can get there hands on some free concrete tomorrow, bring it !

I think that line is all risk reward. that makes it a good hole make two good shots = par mess up 5 or 6. if you want to add risk make the cable ob not the road. I have thrown that shot many times and ended up on the other side of the cable, but safe... I know my name is not Brian but my vote is for no mando.

1. About the tag that I am running. We were playing doubles. I dont get how you can have a tag round with doubles. :D
2. Thats a lot of work. Should be there about 2 like I said. Surely you guys wont be done by then.
3. I second the no mando idea on 2. I dont throw that line, but I laugh when people hit the tree right by the teebox. And if they want to go that way let um.
4. I would like to see the baskets moved how they will be in the tourney tomo. No reason not to let the locals get some practice in before the big dance. Might improve our showing as well.
5. Been out all day. Had to number to keep everything straight. :D

A different question about how tags be handled across divisions for tournaments: Will they be redistributed within each division? Or is an average of the round ratings used instead of stroke count? Or...?

Co-Director - Shawn " I came to bring the pain , hardcore to the brain / Wu Tang " Wooten
Treasurer- Stacia Pearce
Activities Director - Britt Browning
Communications - Colin Evans
Along with the appointment of the BOD, we also had numerous major players step up to the table . Along with Mike Judge ( who has been affiliated with a club that has actually hosted Worlds ) , Gilbert Casas also stepped up and informed us of his recent works with the Ft. Worth parks and recreation board. Gilbert spoke of having options for a location for the new course in Ft. Worth within a small frame of time , WOW. Also, Big Dave Landis and PJ " Peanut " Fry have displayed their collective networking capacity with commitments from outside sponsors, possibly up to nine basket donations as of now...... WOW.
Re-cap, in one months time, we have generated 920 dollars in club funds, have a foot in the door with parks and rec, have commitments for basket donations, and over 40 members...... In one month........
I hope you guys are as excited about this as I am...
Also, keep your eye on the board, and Saturday March 3rd available...... Funkytown Flyers Club will be having a little disc golf adventure, more to follow.......
THINGS ARE GOING DOWN, IN FUNKYTOWN.....
One more thing , we need to represent @ the Big Show....
If one of our members is recieving an award for whatever, I better hear some noise...... seriously

Kind of like the old saying:
Old fishermen never die, they just smell that way. :D
I had that bad habit at one time. Glad i kicked it though.

We just went and checked out the 4 courses Gilbert was talking about at the meeting on Thursday. Westpark, off of 820 and Las Vegas, is REALLY cool...elevation changes, creeks, ponds, outcropings, etc. There are 200 acres there to consider. I'm very excited! :D

Yes my captain we ARE accumulating private money for baskets. I have the money in promised donations for nine baskets. If you feel that you can poney up $400 I will add your name to the list. I would like to have the money for 18 baskets soon and let Gilbert work on a spot for us to stick them in the groud. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND HAVE $$$ let me know.
