Yeah!!....The people that can't hit the hole tend to like the alt pad. Play from the tee!!!

Sorry, It just sucks taking the "signature" hole and moving the tee. It doesn't matter, it's going to be a fun tourney anyway. I here David Hasselhof is going to make an apperance.

I bet Lance is wishing he had decided to race again this year. Many of the big boys were today suspended from the Tour de France starting tomorrow. Basso, Ullrich, the list is huge.

No worries Bryan.

To show you the incompetancy of the idiots I am dealing with try this...after 2 weeks of telling me I was going to get a refund to my debit card for the order I just find out they just charged the amount again! I called my bank and they are going to investigate on Monday once it clears.

Some people just don't deserve to have jobs!

Pizza God
Jun 30 2006, 11:28 PM
aaahhh, never use a debit card to pay for anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most banks will hold the money till they get things worked out. If you loose your card and someone uses it (like for gas), it takes a minimum of 5 days or longer before you get the money back into your account. If any checks try to clear in the mean time, they WILL bounce them.

I hear horror stories about this all the time when trying to collect bad checks. :o

Just to push this back up to the top.....

The fourth Texas 10 event is this coming Saturday. With the ace pot expected to be over $700 at the lovely Lewisville lake course (ton-o-ace run holes) you don't want to miss this! One day event to be played Saturday with 2 rounds. Let us fill this one up. See everyone this Saturday.

You can sign up for two more days at Texas 10 At Lewisville (http://www.titledisc.com/Events/tx7_2006_e4.php) .

Jul 05 2006, 03:24 PM
I believe you are correct, sir--assuming turnout fits on one course. Last year we played the lake twice.

Jul 05 2006, 03:54 PM
No, on the web site it says we will be playing both courses. But LL Woods has about 4 more aceable holes than the Lake course.

Are you DFW discgolfers gonna play this event? You don't have to drive to far :D

cgflesner
Jul 05 2006, 04:27 PM
I am for sure since I have only played one this year. JD said he was 80% sure he would be there, and I have not talked to pep, nolan, kerr, clayton, denny, or jeff d. And there are a couple of local players at the lake course that usually play open for these Texas Ten events. U should bring some Austin golfers with you and we will have a good field.

Jul 05 2006, 06:05 PM
If the turnout is 80 or less we will play the Lake Course twice. If the number is over 80 then we will play each course (Lake and LL Woods) once each. However I expect well over 100 this weekend.

Lots of chances for the approx $700 ace pot. :D

I will be at the park Friday afternoon. If you see me you can sign up then. If not please make it easy on me and sign up at www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) before tomorrow night. I will not start late. :D

Thanks

Thanks for a great event everyone. Everyone had fun at yet another smooth TX10 event. 142 people played and enjoyed the day. Glenn Hale had $756 more reasons than most however hitting the only ace.

I will post more later, have to run but here are the results.

Austin Texas 10 Date Change:
The much anticipated Austin Texas 10 has changed dates to August 19. This is now the week after Pro Worlds. It had been scheduled the week before Pro Worlds. I have accepted my invitation to represent Australia in Augusta and will be back in time for the Austin event. For those wondering which course it will be played it is the yet to be completed Manor course. Lots more details later.

A friend of mine played in intermediate in Tyler , he won so he played advanced in Lewisville , does he have to play 2 more in advanced to qualify for the bonus cash ? Or does he just need to play a total of 3 events before the finals to qualify for the bonus cash ?

rolo14
Jul 29 2006, 11:29 AM
If he's played 3 events (regardless of division) he will qualify for the bonus payout at the final. I don't want to speak for Mr. Himing, but I'm pretty sure that's how he does it. I think it is so ams can test the water in another division in a non-sanctioned event. The final is sanctioned, of course.

Well said Vinnie.

The formal requests have been submitted to host the Texas 10 at Wilco and Cat Hollow. It will take until early next week to approve so please be patient.

In the meantime get your entries in at www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) If it does happen at Wilco expect a big crowd and I won't have a problem capping the field as the course will play long.

The Williamson County Course (Wilco) is the west side of Hwy 35 from Round Rock. Cat Hollow is just 4 or 5 miles away on the same side of the freeway. I am sure one of the locals will be more detailed.

As I said things all look good to use these courses but I am waiting on official approval after a Monday night meeting.

it would be easier to play Wilco and ROUND ROCK OLD SETTLERS can hold more players and both courses are on the same county road Sam bass (3406, 175) no left or right turns needed and it takes 15 mins to get from the ROCK to Wilco. WHO AGREES???? Come on Chris what da ya say?? :D

Thats good timing Seewhere, I just sent you an email. I just got approval to use Cat Hollow. Waiting on the Monday Wilco meeting.

Personally I don't like Cat Hollow as a course but the reason it will work well along side Wilco is the speed of both to play. Wilco will play long and slow while Cat Hollow easy and quick. One course will test you the other will make you get some birdies.

Let me think about it once I get the Wilco call and we can see what we can do.

By the way both courses can hold the same number of players. Just because the Rock is longer doesn't mean more people.

Thanks

Wilco and Cat Hollow are the 2 courses we are shooting for. As I said the city is approving those and those are the 2 that I beleive will offer the best mixture of holes.

Two 18 hole courses are all that we need. When was the last time a tournament was held on 2 courses with 18 and 21 holes? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

If the city allows us we will likely do doubles at Wilco, but I will let everyone know as it happens.

Just curious, is Cat Hollow a pretty straightforward course? I am gonna be there on friday but will only have time to play 1 of the 2 courses. I figured it would be more benefical to practice Wilco.

How full is this event so far? I will be signing up on titledisc tonight so I have no worries... Im trying to talk my friend who lives in austin to come out and attend but it may be a last minute decision. I just want to get an idea of if he will run into trouble signing up saturday morning.

It's a no-brainer if you only have time to play one of the courses ahead of time--make it Wilco. Cat Hollow is pretty straightforward, you can see almost all of the baskets from the tee (or 2 steps from the tee), and if you can throw 400' you can birdie about 17 of them. Wilco, on the other hand, has landing areas on the long holes with sharp doglegs through trees--the kind of stuff you should check out beforehand.

Just want to play with the girls :D

Hi Susan, this is Kim, Kenney and I are headed down to Live Oak today to work with Chris. As it is right now I will be working the tourney (not playing) :( :( I sure do hope there is at least one card of women....maybe two?? I'll talk to you later this week. KIM

Not long now before everyone gets to test out the Wilco course. Please don't forget the city officials will be there in the morning to do the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the course.

Keep the entries coming at www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com)
Enter at the course on Friday afternoon from 4-7pm or BEFORE 8am on Saturday.

Just becasue Titledisc will shut down late Thursday night does not mean the event is closed.

How many times in the last 6 years and how many more times do I have to say this before I finish?

If everyone actually enters early it may mean I may get to play a little on Friday at Wilco. I can only dream.

See everyone soon.

As Lala said a while back, IT'S TIME FOR REDEPTION! After a week in Tulsa, a day in Round Rock sounds like a walk in the park.

Just another hot day in Texas!

ozdisc
Aug 16 2006, 10:09 AM
I can build and add suspense for months if needed. :D

Does it really matter how many have signed up? All that matters is people do it and enjoy the event. I currently have around 70 people entered which is about normal for this time of the week. As Titledisc closes and Friday afternoon comes around that number will likely get close to doubling. I expect 120-150 people for this event. However I don't care how many there are once 8:30am Saturday morning comes around. All those that have entered early will have a great day, those that show up late expecting to play won't.

Today I am off to have an important meeting, followed by stocking the Thunder with all the new hats I got in yesterday. They look great. Tomorrow I get all the NIKE clothing and also other dri-fit clothing. Friday I get lots and lots of flat top Rocs!

Back later.

All directions start from I-35:

WilCo:
1431 to CR175
Turn right on CR175. Park will be up on right.
Turn into park. Course is left of road. Parking is on the right.

Cat Hollow (Brushy Creek DGC):
620 to O'Connor (HEB)
Turn right on O'Connor. Go about a mile.
Turn right at Liberty Walk. Park is up on the right. Parking is along the street.

There is a couple of ways to cut straight between but I need to check a map to give those directions.

It was certainly a hot day at Wilco and Cat Hollow but we all had fun and enjoyed the day. Thanks to all 96 players for respecting the courses and presenting yourself well in front of the city in the morning.

The city officials performed the ceremony to open the Wilco course during the players meeting. It was short and sweet and well done. It also started dead on time.

Congrats to Alex Gonzales and Ron Grafflin for their aces at Cat Hollow.

Thanks to Waterloo DGC for their sponsorship which was given to the FW2 ladies and one lady spectator.

I officially announced the new owners of the Texas 10. Congratulations to Kim and Kenney Kosina for taking it all over. You are going to have some fun.

I look forward to heading to the DFW area on Thursday for this weekends Cedar Hill Texas 10.

Thanks for the support in buying all the new Texas 10 and Down Under clothing, I think it all looks great.

Here are the scores and course layouts. You will notice a slight change to the MPO scores. Alex Gonzales was stroked afterwards for an incorrect card so therefore tied with Vinnie and Dixon. Sorry about that guys.

MPO, MPG, FPO, FW2, MM1 and MA1
These divisions played Cat Hollow in Round 1 and all the long boxes at Wilco in Round 2. The FW2 ladies played the shorts (4 holes) at Wilco.

MA2 and MA3 played Wilco in Round 1, then Cat Hollow in Round 2. They played the 4 short holes at Wilco.

Thanks

Hats off once again to John Houck for yet another excellent course design @ Wilco. Very nice, can't wait to contend with the elements on this clean, challenging but forgiving course. Thanks Chris for another smooth operation, fun day and great crowd of players.

Thanks Mr. Gecko. :D Rumor has it there will be lots of little gecko sightings at the final.

Got some good news tonight about the final and the Sept 9th Texas 10 in Beeville. Things are moving along well. Will post more details after I get the info up on my website.

Huh? :D

Just wanted to say thanks to Chris for another great TX10! Wilco is an awesome course, good job Round Rock & Austin for putting this course together, Jimmy and I had a blast!

Also a big thanks to the Hovey's for letting us crash at their beautiful new house! Y'all were great! :D

Congrats to Kim and Kenny for taking over, you guys have big shoes to fill... Good luck! :)

I just thought I would post an email I recieved when I got home. I also am including my response to him. I would like to beleive that the group of people he came across and allegedly told him to leave just got things a little confused or were not even Texas 10 players. I know that Texas 10 players are responsible and accomadating people that respect the game and the tour.

Thanks
Chris

Subject: Is this what a Charity Tournament is about?

Chris,

This morning I took my family as well as 4 of our close friends out for Disc Golf. We originally were planning on attending the new Wilco course but noticed individuals setting up for a Tournament. We then proceeded to Cat Hollow. We looked for postings and found none for tournaments today and proceeded to begin in a peaceful round of Disc Golf. By the time we reached the 4th basket we were approached by at least 6 individuals advising that we had to leave because they payed your organization to play today and no one else was allowed on the course. As I am not the type that sorts to violence I chose to leave when a threat was made towards my family and friends.

We peacefully left the park making sure to double check for a posting on the main bulletin board at Cat Hollow. Again no posting of a tournament. The thing that concerns me is that the running off of at minimum 100 people at Cat Hollow reflects very poorly on your organization as well as Livestrong. I would hate for those 100 people to tell 5 people each of the behavior associated with this tournament, and have 500 people speaking poorly of what you are trying to accomplish.

Would you be able to post signs during your future tournaments at the first tee feathers to inform people that a tournament is occurring at minimum one day in advance? I heard many people commenting about who ever organized this tournament as I left today, and I did not hear one positive comment.

I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
David

My Reply:

Hello David,

Firstly I organized this event, and if you had any concerns you obviously knew where we were setup, my contact info and a lot of things about the event. I would have been happy to speak to you about any concerns you had at anytime during the day.

I apologize for the people you spoke to at Cat Hollow that you came across, that is not acceptable. However as everyone knows we can not control what people say. If I had known of this or who these people were I would have said something to them. That is obviously not the feeling of the event, the players or the charity. During the day we had several cars of people arrive at Wilco wanting to play. These people were met by myself or my staff and explained what was happening. In one case one of my staff even gave the family and their kids around 8 used discs to play with for free. In 2 other cases the people shopped for discs and waited until lunch when the course was free and they went and played and had a fun time.

Signs were put up at both parks advertising the event. But as we know people like to remove things like that and there is not much we can do but spread the word as best we can. I do not believe either of the courses were closed however there was around 100 people playing so it was a busy on the courses. At both courses there was lots of off time before, during lunch and after the last round for anyone else to enjoy either course to themselves.

In reply to your comment, I heard many people commenting about who ever organized this tournament as I left today, and I did not hear one positive comment.
Everybody at the tournament knew who organized it, knew what was going on, and from all accounts I believe had a great day of fun disc golf. 96 players sitting at the presentations all seemed to be having a good time. If your comment was correct somehow I dont think the Texas 10 would have been as successful as it has been for the last six years and continue to enter, and enjoy the events as they do. The only complaint I received or even heard all day was that is was too hot.

Again I am sorry if you had a bad experience, but I hope that you can go back out to the course with your friends and family and continue to enjoy the sport. Most disc golfers you come across are really nice people and willing to help or encourage. There are always bad apples in any crowd just like in anything in life, we just need to find the good people.

Thanks
Chris

This David Whineters has enough facts, however claims to be ignorate of the Texas 10 to be believable. Your answer was pretty good. I have found that out of the players who don't like the way you run things, they don't play your events.

I am looking forward to Cedar Hill and the heat :p this weekend. Maybe I should go out and play for the 1st time in a month. (last Texas 10 Lewisville was the last time I picked up a disc)

Chris, did you receive permission from Williamson County to "close" both courses...it sounds like Wilco was closed but what about Cat Hollow? If this is the case, and considering the hoops you had to jump through to get this event organized, I think it should have been the Williamson County's responsiblity cleary mark both courses as being closed due to the tournament. But I digress...

Chris, I'm glad David emailed you directly and voiced his concern....I find it hard to believe that player's involved in this event would treat casuals with such disrespect (and if they did, shame on them!). As always, you treated the situation with the utmost respect and is just one more reason why you run top notch events. Thanks again and I look forward to playing as many TX10 events as I can before you leave!

Close, Brushy Creek M.U.D. District. They use the drainage easements thruout there district for some nice parks, hiking/jogging trails, etc.
