As far as requirements for team positions go, all pdga guidelines apply. If you have a situation that cannot be resolved within the guidelines, email me at ttc@moment.net and we'll figure it out.

Texas Teams is intended to be like Fox News, fair and balanced. i.e.....whatever we deem to be fair and balanced............

One of the great things about the TTC is that it gets players who don't normally travel -- and some who don't normally play tournaments -- to get involved.

Since up to 20% of Established players and a large majority of Emerging players don't even have ratings, it can be a little tricky. But let's use the technology when we have it -- there's no reason to have people playing divisions they don't normally play.

Except of course for all those die-hards who step up and play a higher division than they normally would.

Every year there are unusual situations, and we look at them on a case-by-case basis. As Mike said, being fair is consideration #1.

Here is some updated info about Texas Teams November 19 & 20 at Circle R in Wimberley. Lunch will be provided for all participants on Saturday. Lunch will also be available on Sunday for a small fee. Keep in mind that camping is free to all players during the event. Please note the camping rules. For those who do not like to camp, there are numerous Bed & Breakfasts in the surrounding area. If that is not your cup of tea, there are hotels in southwest Austin and San Marcos.

THE CONCEPT:

Every course in Texas is invited to send a team. Teams
may also represent schools or other organizations (we may
even have an ultimate team this year). Some courses send
more than one team.

THE FORMAT:

Teams compete head-to-head, so when A-town plays
B-ville, A-town's #1 plays B-ville's #1, A-town's #2
plays B-ville's #2, etc. The team that wins the most
individual matches gets the victory.

Rounds are 9 holes, and it's all match play, so it's not
your total score that counts - it's how many holes you
win.

Most teams will play 4 rounds Saturday and 2-3 rounds
Sunday.

ENTRY FEE:

$45 per player. Every player gets a tournament
sweatshirt, a tournament disc, lunch Saturday, greens fees,
and more. Camping is also free.

TEAM MAKEUP:

There are two divisions. Smaller towns and newer courses
compete in the Emerging division. Teams consist of 6
players: 3 Advanced and 3 Intermediate.

Bigger cities and older courses compete in the
Established division. Established teams have 9 players: 2
Pro, 2 Advanced, 2 Intermediate, 1 Master, 1 Amateur
Woman, and one "swing" player (Pro Woman, Grand Master,
or Advanced Master).

PAYOUT:

No cash, no prizes. It's all for team pride and fun.
There will be trophies for the top teams, plus awards for
Best Dressed Team and Most Spirited Team.

2000 Lewisville and Tyler
2001 Lewisville and Lubbock
2002 Arlington A and San Angelo
2003 Arlington A and Live Oak

CAMPING RULES

►No vehicles will be allowed beyond the parking area - No

►All guests must complete a Circle R Liability Waiver.

►Campfires permitted within existing fire pits ONLY.

Hey, ya'll weren't even there last year. And my God, it's just so funny to see how "serious" some folks get about this. Somehow, for me, it spoils the mood and intent of this whole event. Yes, making the best of what is available from your area/course is good, but trying out, ratings tests, and getting upset if you don't do as well as your roster indicates you will, is a costly approach. But hey, I'm not on one of "those" teams and glad it's that way.

As for guys and gals who normally play in the Pro ranks, if in fact this is a "fun" time and designed to bring folks together and expose "non-tounament" golfers to an organized environment, then wearing that "Sandy" sign all weekend just doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the event.

In the woman's division, it is difficult enough for new rec and inter. girls to play against seasoned advanced ladies, the idea of match play with a "pro" no matter what the rating, is just not as inviting. I thought we were supposed to have fun.

Let's see, my rating is high enough that I can man the keg for the weekend! Where do I try out?

All this talk about the women playing am I thought I would bring to light the men are doing the same thing. And dont forget, your rating can be very high and if you havent cashed then you arent a pro. So if, and I say "if" his rating is that high, it doesnt matter because he doesnt play pro. Also with all the awesome players in Live Oak it would be hard to find one with a low rating. :)

And Texas Teams is about fun, but its also about the smack talk between teams, it is for us anyway. :)

I didnt want to play down to am because of the am/int/rec women who play, I also didnt want to be a pro playing am and lose to one. :D

I was playing in a beach volleyball tourney that weekend. Would have loved to have been @ LOSO though. Are they still calling you CAPTAIN CRUMBLE? :D Just kidding. I seem to remember Rogers having some term of endearment for your occational tourney wrecking rounds (hole #4 <the island hole> @ LIVE OAK). Is Chris playing w/ you guys or for that matter is this just an expanded A&M Team?
