Anyone ever thought that the TD John Houck would not have allowed it if he thought it was wrong. So who is questioning John?

Surprising also how it is only after we win anyone cares?

Thanks for playing Billy, you are a true Team player.

One reason Live Oak B won TEAMS was because we were a TEAM. We all had fun as this event is meant to be. No harsh words, no blaming, nothing but fun as a team. Some others should try that someday.

Personally I had a good time playing against everyone I was matched against. It was good to be playing again.

Congrats to Live Oak A for making as far as they did. Live Oak is a fun place to play.

Now when is that "Key to the City" ceremony? :D

I could care less I was just curious, and he lost to our Adv 1 so it didn't make a difference.

I was thinking of Dave Moody player rating 996.

By the way I heard you made the same putt on hole #10 that you made in our match for the win. Nice way to end the weekend see ya in Tyler. :D

What a great weekend in the Hill Country.
I witnessed John make about five controversial calls this weekend and I didn't agree with all of the calls, BUT: He observed each situation from all angles and his decisions all had one common theme. They all sided on the angle of FUN :D
Fun is what this tournament is all about. You and Smitty's version of fun apparently was calling the people teeing from the white tees puzzy's. I know I had a lot of fun playing match play all weekend and being part of a team, being part of the Texas disc golf community.
Great tournament John :D There was an amazing amount of laughter out there this weekend.

Thanks, Jay. I would hope that all my decisions would be based on fun and fairness. It's not always pleasant to make decisions that might effect the outcome of matches -- that should be left up to the players and the course. But sometimes it needs to be done.

As always, we will discuss and learn and improve. This tournament is unlike any I know of, and we'll keep running into new situations and refining the procedures. I did get some good suggestions, and I'm always happy to hear more, espcially ones that are presented in the spirit of what's best for everyone... as opposed to what's best for the person making the suggestion.

I'm glad everyone had a good time, and I'm glad this this event achieves its goal of being unique and fun. Most of all, I'm glad that at this event, the real winners are the ones who value spirit and sportsmanship over skill.

Actually 1 loss and 1 tie in the round play to finish 3rd in our pool. It shows the strength and determination of our TEAM that we didn't let that get us down and came back early Sunday morning to shoot the best score in the mixmaster. We battled through the quarter finals, won a sudden death playoff, battled through the semis then went to a 3 hole sudden death in the final before the WIN.

What a great TEAM. :D

I never really thought of it before but you can just not show up until sunday and still win. I like a double elimination thing so if you lose two round in the prelim you don't get to go to the MM or something like that but the whole format is still pretty good. We have already started strengthening our team for next year so watch out. :D

He hit two 50 footers on the 1st two holes I mean I couldn't do much. I knew I had him after the 4th hole though. He is the kind of guy that has a bad hole and kinda slows down so I knew all I had to do is not mess up. I almost did when I threw my drive on #3 across #1's fairway. :D

Nov 21 2005, 08:28 PM
He did have two bad spits in the last three holes, but I have never seen anybody end up on #1's fairway and almost in the ditch.

the_kid
Nov 21 2005, 08:32 PM
The 1st spit would have stuck if he putted on a hyzer like us but that flat putt will just flip over and slid out half the time. The 2nd was a good putt just a little lo but I though with the high velocity it would still go in.

Congrats to Live Oak on the win, you guys had a pretty strong team and there was a pretty strong field to get through. Thanks to Houck for providing the players of Texas with one of the most enjoyable formats every year, there aren't many TD's that could pull it off like you do.

As always Arlington had allot of fun and we are hoping to do allot better next year, even though it was nice to get home early ;). It was great to see everyone and we can't wait till next year.

Scooter is just mad that we took out the Bass-Clowns on the last shot of all nine matches. Either way, Robbie and I's match had some huge moments.

About Billy Moody playing only on Sunday, that's legit if he's on the roster, but subbing shouldn't be allowed. I believe he smoked our Am 2 player b/c I know that I didnt't play him in the Z-Boaz match. Trust me, I would recognize the guy as he lived in Stillwater, OK and taught me a few things.

Congrats to Five Stroke as they won it all through play-offs and were pretty cool to play.

Last comment - How about Z-BOAAAAZZZZZ - Representing with a strong 3rd place showing after coming out of the mixmaster. Thanks for calling on me to play Fles! Now give me my disc :D

Actually... he replaced me as the Adv 2 player... not Adv1.
And believe me I would have been there to play if I hadn't been sweating bullets from a 101 fever and coughing up large quantities of lovely green mucus. Why cant you just accept the call that John made and leave it Blike the one that stung the roof of Turbos mouth after taking a swallow out of his drink on Sunday.

Everyone played well and represented well. This truly is the best tournament format Ive played. I wish I could have been there for the 9 man alternating it must be tough to have to stick to the order of players you chose before the match even begins.

Thanks John and all that great Circle R Staff for a wonderful tournament! :D And big thanks to Team Justice for housing/yarding/feeding the two Waterloo teams all weekend. We all had a blast, and the feasting and drinking couldn't have been better.

Patty was a most excellent Teams Mom. Up early each morning making us breakfast, making sure everyone was up and out the door on time, bringing us custom ordered sandwiches for lunch on Sunday, having pies, snacks, and tons of great food ready at all times. Thanks Mom!!! :D

Both Waterloo teams in the semi-finals, who'd a thunk it? And us, Waterloo One, going all the way from the mixmaster to the finals (just like 2 years ago), and taking down the more powerful Waterloo Too team in the process. Wow! What a great Sunday of disc golf. Saturday wasn't too much to brag about :o, but Sunday sure went well.

Finishing the Finals regulation 9-hole matches against a very poweful Live Oak B team with 4 wins, 3 losses, and two ties. Pretty **** good. And under the old rules, good enough for a Victory. With the addition of "no ties" though, we just couldn't hang on (with me being one of the ties who lost on the sudden death holes :(). Maybe next time we should play a little slower so the dark prevents any tie-playoffs. :D

Of course, we wouldn't have even been there if Mitch (excuse me, I mean Captain FacePlant - be sure to ask him about the fire incident saturday night :o), hadn't pulled some major heroics and won his sudden death playoff against Pease. We finished tied with them 4,4,1; so Mitch makes an awesome drive right down the pipe on #4 rolling meadows and then cans the pressure straddle putt for the birdie. I think he was walking on clouds for the rest of the day.

Thank you to all my Waterloo teammates, I had a very fun time playing and partying with you. And I had some cool folks to play against too. Chris, Ben, Jan, Z-Boaz threesome in the mixmaster, Leon, Lou, and finally Turbo. Great competition and great people.

Congratulations to Live Oak B! Finally a new champion. Although I'm sure the always-strong Arlington will be back next year for another run. And we'll be there too; having fun (the whole goal of Teams after all), playing disc golf, and hopefully winning just a few more matches.

Get better soon Lou and Shawn and Chris!

thats Austin for ya. giving back peoples disc always brings good luck, I found a brand new Starfire the other day and gave it back, went to Circle C the next day and shot a good round. I just wish that people would give me back mine, at Searight you have to kinda expect not to get your disc back but at Circle C its a different story.I saw a guy at Searight a while back that gave me this story about how he didnt have any discs so I gave him an XD and another driver, I went to the play it again sports next to my house a couple of days later and found it in the used disc pile. I hope that brought him bad karma.
