The last couple of years we have hosted a Robert Wynn Benefit tournamnet. I hate to see the ball dropped on this event. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about it. Kinston will be more than glad to host.

It should always be in KINGSTON.

In preparation for the Ace Race on Sept. 22nd, I've put out some little marker flags to show where the tees will probably be. Every hole is 180ft or shorter. If you have any change suggestions for the tees, please let me know. Also, if any hole seems to be missing a flag, let me know.

And, by all means, if you're planning to play, pre-register on the web site (http://www.kinstondiscgolf.com/acerace/) . We order the player packs Sept. 4, so try to sign up by then. It will be fun.

Cost: $10.00 + $1 ace pool

Payout: Trophys + Cash to the winning team. Payout depth will be determined by number of participants.

Yes. I've shot 49 there a couple of times, but only a couple out of a lot of rounds, and they were very happy days! Kinston can give you the shaft with the quickness if you take it for granted.

MTL21676
Nov 27 2007, 07:32 PM
yes, and 53 is a great round. I've never shot better than 52.

It's so easy to quickly blow up on the course. Leaving the front nine under par is quite an achievment and the only real simple birdie on the course is 17 and 10 if you have an arm.

grateful24655
Nov 27 2007, 07:41 PM
that course can tear you up if you lose concentration. the longs pads make you use course maintence on multiple holes and offers risk reward on almost all the birdies. fun rounds for sure. good days make you feel like a champ, bad ones, well . . a chump.

i actually played the front better than I did the back (-1 front)
here's my scores
I 3'd everything on the front except for taking a 4 on 2 and deucing 8&9.
I 3'd everything on the back except for blowing an easy 3 and took a 4 on 11 and got a 2 on 16.

you're either joking or there is another looong pad somewhere that isnt marked or anything...

It was a flick shot w/ a destroyer... w/ a ~20' putt

The 53 really didnt feel that spectacular and w/ the 2 blown putts for 2's on 10 & 12 and an 'easy' 51 possible I had to check to be sure if the long layout is the same one you play in the tourney

If you look @ the website I played everything marked as long on there

hole 9 at kinston not that big? we talking about the tee that has 2 trees 10 feet off the tee on the right. 8 foot fairway for 60 feet. 100 feet to cross the ditch. and then another 220 feet uphill righty anhyzer?

: ) :

stack
Nov 28 2007, 09:00 PM
guess i didnt think of how big of a deal it was... and thats def. the same hole. Had a few casuals playing with me (that barely throw 200) and one of them 3'd it and didnt get that psyched about it either.

just hope I can replicate it a few more times if I can make it out for the kings cup!!!

speaking of specific holes... whats up w/ the 165 wicked tight hole? i read the review on the course info but still had a hard time finding the sidearm route.

and for the kings cup (or other pdga tournies if there are any)... do ya'll play from the longs every round or mix in the shorts?

flicknandkickn
Nov 28 2007, 09:50 PM
Hole 6. Legendary. It's designed to test your scrambling abilities, so I've been told. Stack, 53 is good shootin' Tex. Keep it up at the King's Cup '08. It is one fun tournament, and the course, as you can see, is a lot of fun. GI Joe Noble and the Kinston crew put great pride in the tourney. Schweb is the Defender of the Cup, and the Cup is impressive!! /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif You gotta see it. You shoot four 53's, you earn dividends.
Let me reiterate:

Kinston can give you the shaft with the quickness if you take it for granted.

Droppin' a deuce on long 9, thru the window is niceness. :cool:Doing it for 4 straight rounds is priceless. The more rounds you play at K-town, the more you realize 4 stokes to the wrong side of 53 is easier than 4 strokes to the better.

I would advise not throwing a thumber on 6 if you want your drive to go more than 3 inches. (If you don't get this, just ask Jeb, Scotty, Cindy, Ashley, Schweb C Lee or me to tell the story of the WORST THUMBER EVER)

MTL21676
Nov 29 2007, 02:36 PM
I have this amazingly flippy aviar that I have and literally only use for 2 holes in disc golf - number 3 short at Valley Springs and Number 6 at Kinston. I throw it with tons of hyzer, and it flips hard.

Anyway, I can hit the gap on this hole with a hyzer release (which I am more confident hitting tight gaps with) and it just flips hard and late right down the chute to about 20 feet short on the pin.

Since I never use this thing, I keep it in my secondary backup bag which is mostly what I call my water bag. I dont take my water bag with me if I know the course and it doesnt have any water on it. Anyway, I left this disc in Raleigh for the weekend.

So I have no confidence on this hole all weekend cuz I dont have that disc. I go 4 3 4 on it the first three rounds and this is usually a hole I can usually get a birdie once out of three drives, so I was very upset.

Well I had seen schweb rounds 2 and 3 throw a thumber with this flippy eagle of his and park it both times. At lunch on Sunday I asked him to show me the shot and he said take the flippiest driver you have (which was my roller leopard) and throw a thumber but throw it sidearm so I flips super fast.

I threw the shot a few times in front of him with him watching and made some adjustments until he felt I had it down. I run over to 6 and throw it.

Pure.

Go Get it.

Pure

Go Get it.

Pure.

3 for 3!!

The round starts and we get to hole 6 and I step up to the pad. Without thinking, I stepped up to the middle of the pad where my arms were aligned with those trees . I grip my thumber with all the confidence possible and throw it right into the tree 3 feet from the pad.

This leopard comes bouncing back and HITS me while Im on the tee and falls to the ground leaning on the front of the box. I marked it and measured the back of the mini to be 3 inches from the front of the pad giving me a 3 inch drive.

Well before I marked it I did my MTL threw a bad shot pose (hands on the hips and then put my head down) and kinda laughed. I turned around and this is what I saw.

1. C Lee biting his lip.
2. Schweb turned around with Ashleys face buried in his shoulder
3. Jeb with this hand over his mouth
4. Scotty hunched over and his wifes face in his shoulder.

I could tell they were all trying not to laugh. Then I said go ahead and laugh and everyone just exploded. We all laughed a good 2 or 3 min. before someone else threw.

Oh, and Schweb made me mark my disc before he teed. Jerk. :D

Not with pride but i can honestly say Tivvle i got ya beat. i threw a thumber (you've seen my thumber aka crosstown this year.) hits the first tree on the right side of the tee box bounces over my head lands 3 1/2 feet behind the front of the tee pad but at least still on the tee pad. so i had a negative distance drive. then flicked a firebird from there to about 10 feet for the par. like schweb said good times man good times

MTL21676
Nov 29 2007, 05:27 PM

I think I remember saying that I might have a record for shortest drive ever that actually went forward.

LOL... now thats hilarious! thanks for sharing the stories!! I'm sure everyone got a HUGE laugh out of both!

you must respect the thumber... become one with the thumber... before you can rock the thumber! ;)

Kinston's Ice Bowl for 2008 will be held at Barnet Park on February 2, with sign-in from 8:30-9:30am. This year's event will be 2 rounds, one from the long tees and one from the short tees. The player's pack will include an Ice Bowl disc and mini, a chance to win a portable goal, as well as other goodies from local sponsors. Registration is $15.00 and includes a pig pickin' dinner. We have the same cooking crew we had last year, so you won't want to miss it. This year's event proceeds will benefit the Lenoir Co. SPCA. We're also collecting dry goods for ICOR and pet food and supplies for the SPCA. Please see our web site for complete info and registration. (http://www.kinstondiscgolf.com/icebowl)

I hope you'll join us. It will be a fun day of disc golf and it's for a great cause.

Thanks everyone for coming out to Three Rivers in Kinston today. 30 people showed. Noble won Open, 51 49 - 100, beating Jeb in a playoff. However he would have lost Am, Steven O. shot 53 46 - 99 to win by 19. No aces today.

Next Three Rivers will be in Greenville on June 1, first round Meadow whites, second round at ECU. Ace Pool = $177+

Come join us for one more shot at playing what was one of the premiere Disc Golf Courses East of I-95.

Saturday July 12th
2 rounds at Inland Greens Golf Course
Tee off at 10:00 a.m.
Regular entry fee + $4.00 green fee so
Pro - $14
Am - $12
Rec - $9
these are the total costs with greens fees included. we will have at least 9 Metal baskets (probably more) and the rest will be skill shots and other brands of soft baskets. if anyone has a metal basket they can bring it would greatly appreciated the less cloth baskets we have to use the better

For those of you that never got to play Inland Greens when it was in the ground it was and will be a BEAUTIFUL disc golf course layed out over a Par 3 ball golf course. if you have any questions fill free to post here or on our club thread here

The Kinston Disc Golf Association is trying to help Joe Noble off-set the cost of traveling to and competing in the Amatuer World's tournament in Michigan this August. We have set up a Paypal link on the home page on the upper left side. We are trying to have all funds together by the end of July, so Joe and Jessica can decide if they have enough money to attend. Any support you may be able to give will really be appreciated. You may also mail check papyable to:
