More great news! We have now reserved the clubhouse by the pool at 7901 Shin Oak Drive, across the street from holes 23B, 23C and 23D. This is where you will check in or sign up Saturday morning. Players meeting will be held across the street behind 23B's basket. There is plenty of parking across the street from the pool.

Also, the Jaguars will be selling ice cold beverages around the course, not the Lion's Club as previously reported. Help support the local youth!

Where's My Red Wildcat Long Distance Competition!

Named for one of Round Rock's finest metal mini tossers, this will be held after the Safari 9 on Sunday afternoon. We will have two divisions: Pro and Am. Three throws for $5, paying the top 3 in each division 60/30/10. Trophies to the winners! I'd like to give the two divisions a unique name that's not as boring as Pro and Am. Something like "Yeah I'm All That!" and "Well, I Hope to Be That". Anyway, you get the point, help me come up with the two division names!

ZCRUSHER
Jul 01 2005, 12:09 PM
Can we pick our divsion or is it based on what we play in the Tournament??

losotd
Jul 01 2005, 12:13 PM
Good question. SeeWhere is giving me ideas on this, lets see what he thinks! What if I lower the entry fee for the Am division to $3 for three throws, so there is more of an incentive for the long arms in the Pro division. Or I could base it on whether you played in a pro division or not, though we all know some intermediates can crush but not putt :o

james_mccaine
Jul 01 2005, 12:31 PM
Well, if Robbie throws am and neither Ware nor Robbie win, you can name the awards "I crushed Ware like a little bug" and "Robbie Who?". If Ware and Robbie win, just give them a poster that says "I rule."

Actually, if Robbie throws pro and Ware or Robbie win, then the original titles work. :p

Jul 01 2005, 01:51 PM
the D contest is whatever division you want to throw in is what I say. so hopefully the AMS with big arms will step up and throw with the big dogs and than the that will give the little arms a chance for some bragging..

Hey Hate, see info below let me know if you have any questions. Glad Temple will be in the house!

There are other hotels in the area, but they are much higher due to summertime rates.

Motel 6 also off of IH-35 that cost is
$58.99 plus the 16.75 % tax rate = $68.87 for Friday & Saturday night. If you decide to stay on Sunday too the rate is lowered to $39.99 + 16.75% tax rate = $46.69 for Sunday only.

If you are interested in Motel 6 the address is 9503 IH-35 N. Distance from motel to course is about 10 mins max. Plus there is a little bonus! Motel 6 is right in between Adult Video and Adult Video Megaplex

Back to details, when reserving please ask for Linda Wright @ 210-654-4425 and make sure you let her know that you are calling for the LOSO Disc Golf Tournament rate. You must reserve by July 8th or rate will no longer be available, also you must reserve with a credit card to hold the room, but do not have to pay with it. There is no continental breakfast or anything like that.

It looks like another Texan has jumped off the list. According to the Mid-Nationals website, Matt Hall is no longer eligible to compete for the TX State Rep spot. He is already eligible to attend the USGDC as the winner of the Blue division at the Mid-Nationals !

That effected the eligible players from three events. The next players from Victoria, Red Rock, and Pecan Park are now on the list (http://www.lsdga.com/news/index.php) .

Question for the ladies who play LOSO...

Do you want to be included in the distance competition? I have two divisions now... Big Dogs and Chihuahuas for the men. A "poodle" division was suggested for the ladies. Does that offend? I need at least three of you to make it worth while, so let me know.

To speed up the registration process, you can pre-register for LOSO and pay when you check in. This way I can get you into the database, and have a score card ready. The faster I get the registration done, the faster you get out on the course!

Email or PM me the following information:

Name, PDGA #, Email Address, Division, Ace Pot Y/N. If you are not a current PDGA member or your membership is not current, let me know, because there is an additional $5 fee. You can debate that on another thread.

No Junior division offered for this one. 804.08 A director may, by giving adequate public notice, restrict the divisions offered. These are long 21 hole courses with potential for a lot of sun (go away emily!). So I elected to not offer this division. Juniors may compete in any other division they choose. Recreational is player pack/trophy only though.

Players in the Live Oak Summer Open will also be competing for a chance at the drawing.
The top 5 scores plus ties of Texas players from all divisions that play the same layouts as the Open division are eligible to participate. (With the exception of those players in the first list that are already qualified to play in the USDGC.)

<font color="blue">Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to the event this weekend to perform the drawing, and in an effort to not add this to the things that Brian has to keep up with, I have asked Chris Himing to handle the drawing. How could there be any doubt? Seriously, I don't know that any disc golf community has been more proactive and more of an asset to their city/course/community. If your city council isn't aware of it by now...they haven't been paying attention.

Yes, thanks to Laura Karshis, we have Outback Steakhouse delivering lunch each day for $5 a plate. You can buy sodas and water from the Live Oak Jaguars. Lunch will be served in the clubhouse. Buy your lunch tickets from Laura. The tournament receives no proceeds from the lunch, we are just happy to have a fine establishment out there to assist us.

Two meter rule will NOT be in effect for this tournament. If you can't retreive your disc within 3 minutes you take a lost disc penalty stroke.

803.10 LOST DISC
A. A disc shall be declared lost if the player cannot locate it within three minutes after arriving at the spot where it was last seen by the group or an official. Two players or an official must note when the timing of three minutes begins. All players of the group must, upon request, assist in searching for the disc for the full three minutes before the disc is declared lost. The disc is considered lost immediately upon the expiration of the three minute time limit.

B. A player whose disc is declared lost, shall receive one penalty throw. The approximate lie for the player's next shot shall be marked in-bounds nearest the spot where the disc was last seen, as agreed to by a majority of the group or an official.

I don't mind leaving my disc behind after I've thrown for speed of play purposes, but a disc that is visible but can't be retrieved shouldn't be treated like than a disc that is lost and can't be located.

losotd
Jul 21 2005, 11:25 AM
good point Lou, it really isn't lost, right? Unless there are objections, I'll wave the penalty stroke if the disc is visible but not retrievable. If you think it's stuck in a tree and can't find it, then that would be another story.

Visible, but not retrievable would be an unplayable/unsafe lie. Right?

1 penalty throw for relocation upto 5m, no nearer.
2 for relocation beyond 5m, no nearer.

(And folks think the 2m rule is confusing...) :)
