Conceeded? Yes. :D
Foot Fault? No.
As long as the disc was release before he stepped over the teebox it is not a foot fault. That is just a part of follow through. Heck you should see how far I end up off the teebox when I have to do a sky anhyzer. I spin off about 3ft! Too bad the last time I did that I threw it too far and lost my favorite buzzz.
his plant foot is over the line, making it a foot fault, not a follow through. if that were his left foot, it would be ok, but since he obviously planted with his right foot, which was 4-6 inches over the edge of the box, it's a fault, and i'd call him on it every time.
on a brighter side, they are very nice pictures. :D
Oh yeah, thats a foot fault. No doubt about it.
fulcan
Apr 19 2005, 02:05 PM
Not if his plant foot was parallel to the end of the tee box and rotated forward as part of the follow through, after the disc was released. Then his entire plant foot would have been behind the line at the time of release.
Of course, theres no way of knowing with out instant replay video.
if you look at the 2nd picture when the disc is about 12 feet out of his hand, you can see that his foot is pointing perfectly straight forward, so unless it rotated 90 degrees in the 0.3 seconds it took for the disc to travel those 12 feet, it was over on his plant. either way, he wasn't called on it at the tournament, so i'm guessing it wasn't gratuitous or his playing partners didn't care, so it's not an issue. it is funny that everyone on here called it though. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I plant my foot parallel to the end of the pad and spit threw after i release and as long as my foot is touching the GROUND in front of the teepad then its still not a foot fault :D But like you said i wasnt called on it at the tournament so its really irrelavent and everyone on here likes to work me anyway :D

Man, you do a lot of stuff before throwing a disc. Never heard of anyone spitting before their release! :D:o
I'm just messing with you Mills. I hope you know that. Great win nonetheless.
i never said they were the same teebox, i only referred to the 2nd picture, in which his plant foot is already facing forward and half of his foot is over the box. but yes, it would appear that he faults on every throw, or i guess we should start saying "faults", since in his mind it is not a fault if you at least touch the teepad during some point in your throwing sequence.

You have seen 2 of my throws out of the entire tournament and you say I must foot fault EVERY time. Thats a little over board I think since in the pictures above im NOT foot faulting :D
Plus the rules say supporting points. On most of my throws my supporting point is the HEEL of my foot so if the TOE of my foot is over the end of the box its obviously not supporting me but i guess its all in how you interpret the rules :D

The cover of the latest DGWN, featuring Birgitta Lagerholm, is among the best sports photography I've ever seen.
I agree! It's amazing and she and the photographer should both be proud!! :D I have a question. Does posting a photo on this site means it's up for grabs as far as copying it goes? I'd never copy it to sell or make money off of them, just would like to have some of them to enjoy viewing off this message board.
So, what's the law here? :D

Sorry I changed that. You can see large versions of more than 3000 pictures. Also, you can register and post pictures there yourself. Shoot me an email if you'd like a gallery or if you can contribute pictures from an NT or an event.
I'm going to try and write a feature for DGWN on the events I play, if you think you've got good pictures and you'd like them in DGWN, send them to Rick Rothstien, or send them to us, and I'll add them to DGWN's review list!!
Many thanks. 130 pics are up from Hall of Fame Classic, including a few of Lake Olmstead, and some of Saturday's morning round!
More will be taken from today, but I'm on the lead card so I can't really get too many pics of the MPO... If you know a photographer in Augusta, let me know and I can get them my camera....

Hi, My name is Fake Puffman, I'd like to welcome everyone to the 1st Annual "Go on, take the $ and spend it on crack Open"
First of all, I'd like to thank The PDGA for all the suckas that are registered and will un-knowingly give me their $ so that I can smoke it up and not turn in any results....What tourney???
Then I'd like to thank the disc companies for fronting a sorry piece of trash like me the plastic to draw in more suckers, and to trade for more illegal substances. ( I can just leave the debt to the club and get a fat sack)
Then of course I'd like to thank myself for being such a worthless piece of trash. I'd like to thank my wife for boiling water for our kids baths cause I stole all the $ from the tourney and didn't use a dime to benefit my family...or to pay my gas bill.-hence the boiling of water.
Thanks again for coming out, hope I can get you all again...I mean hope you had a good time.

A couple of weeks ago we went to Colorado on vacation. We stayed at Copper Mountain resort, and we loved it. The temperature in Houston was about 100 degree when we left, but the temperatures in Copper Mountain were in the 60's and 70's. :D
There was a very nice disc golf course at Copper Mountain. My daughter Nicole (SuperGirl) and I only got to play it once. Unfortunately the altitude was killing us and we were huffing and puffing during the entire round. We had to keep letting people play through because we had to stop and catch our breath after each up hill hole (the course is on the bottom part of the mountain). Next time we play there, we need to spend time getting use to the altitude before we play. I would definately recommend the course, but remember to bring hiking boots.
Anyway, here are some of the pictures I took.
This is basket 17 with Copper Mountain resort showing in the background.

Here's the signature hole#15 at Moraine State Park outside Pittsburgh, PA. After emerging from the woods, an awesome expanse opens up in front of you of Lake Arthur and the Rt. 422 bridge crossing.
From the blue tee, the hole is a pro par four, listed at 852 feet, with significant elevation drop the whole way. A long but safe 425' drive is needed to reach the landing zone, which is bordered by an OB road on the left and small trees on the right. From there, you throw another crush of equal length down to the polehole situated just in front of the lake. You can fire over the small trees on the right, or take the direct route right at the polehole, which can be spotted in the small dirt circle in the second picture. Recording a birdie three on this hole is something to really savor!

I wish I could build you one but Igloo quit making the container I was using and I havent found a tough enough replacement......and Ive searched everywhere for a tough enough container but so far they have been to flimsy to withstand the punishment. Lately I've been custom making a few aluminum discgolf carts (non-waterproof) for a few local freinds (like the one I'm using in the picture) but I havent decided if I'm going to make any more because they are such a pain to build.

Man, that looks like a sweet GOLF hole! You can throw a safe 300 foot drive to make sure you land in the opening and have an easy up-and-down for 3, or you can try and rip a 400 footer to reach the polehole for a possible deuce. But if your line is off, you likely hit the trees and fall back into the water. Excellent risk/reward and decision making required on the tee.

Hole #2 at Moraine State Park outside of Pittsburgh, PA (courtesy of Jerry Gotcher)
This is a reverse view of this wonderful par four hole. The tee is located behind the second (farther tree) in the middle of the fairway. While the base of the hill can be reached, accuracy is more important than length. A long drive that misses the fairway will not give you an opportunity to make the approach for the birdie three, while a shorter drive in the middle does allow you that opportunity. An added challenge is that the narrow drainage ditch just before the polehole is OB!

Then you have to throw from the top of the 1/4mile hill! That would be awesome. Not so awesome to run up though. My senior year I was in the lead after that hill.....I knew that was a mistake, took all my energy and finished in the 80's or something like that.

I would hope you would be able to throw a midrange on that hole. 384ft, looking like a 20ft drop in elevation making the effective length 324ft.
If your wanting to be the world distance champ with a comet you might want to throw over 384 on flat ground.
BTW, sweet hole. If I am ever in SoCal, I will have to hit Emerald Isle, is it private or public?

Actually, it looks like it may drop 20 ft from tee to the edge of the lake, but it looks like it moves back uphill 7-10 ft from there to the pin. If you note the photo, the hand of the thrower is even with the basket. While this is a bit of an optical illusion, I be the effective distance is closer to 350'.

I've never driven that stretch as I live only 8 miles from Knob Hill and 23 miles from Moraine (lucky me :D).
I used Mapquest for directions from Pittsburgh to Portersville and the data states it is just over 39 miles with a drive time of 44 minutes. It probably does take closer to an hour coming from the 'burgh because Moraine State Park is on the north side of Portersville. And as Jeff mentioned, the Lakeview course is located approximately 2+ miles along the 25 mph North Shore Drive. Well worth the drive, however...

I think 24099 has a more accurate representation of the armup/arm down juxtaposition, but I should get *some* style points...

Hole 16, Emerald Isle Golf Course. Oceanside, CA
http://www.aesthetic-mindset.com/images/disc/GNATION.jpg

The hole is 384'. The water is OB, the sandtrap is OB, and the green is OB. I always throw a comet .
While this is a bit of an optical illusion, I be the effective distance is closer to 350'.
still a smooth Roc or Shark

Hey Chris, I'm gonna assume that this is the PFDO stamp for this year: hole 15 at Moraine State Park.
But they got the lake and the sailboat in the picture but didn't get the polehole?

This disc is wedged between two power lines, about thirty feet up in the air.
http://static.flickr.com/47/149284241_19444bd0f9.jpg
Here you can see the yellow disc - it looks like it is stuck in the tree, but we know it isn't.
http://static.flickr.com/55/149284239_042d511353.jpg
Here's the view from the tee. The tee pad is elevated, about 20 feet above the ground level where the power poles are planted. The disc is a CFR Wraith, and belongs to Steve Simpson (PDGA # 11920). His drive on the 13th hole (alternate tee pad) during the second round hit the power lines "just right" and stuck. Since the two meter rule was in effect for the Seven Hills Hurlers Open, Steve received a penalty stroke. The TD was nice enough to replace his disc!

I stuck an XL in power lines just like that pic. Don Jonhson threw a stick at it and hit it perfectly on the rim. It squirted out like a bar of soap and flew about forty feet. It must have had some spin still on it.

I have some photos on snapfish but I can't seem to get them to post correctly....any tips??
you cannot take the url from your web browser. What you need to do is get to the photo you want from your album inside snapfish and select it. After it is opened in its new page you should right click it. Go to "properties" and it will give you the actual photo file location itself. This should end in .jpg, .bmp, .tif, etc.
use that info inside the image command.
if you need more help or specific examples PM me.
