What are the entry fees for Pease minis?

LouMoreno
Feb 25 2004, 05:44 PM
It's $5 for all am divisions plus a $1 carryover ace pot on Tuesdays. The ace pot is $5 on Saturdays with a CTP afterwards if nobody hits.

I think the open fee is $10.

LouMoreno
Apr 12 2004, 12:12 PM
Dave, are the Tuesday minis starting at 5:30 now that the time has changed?

Apr 12 2004, 01:47 PM
The Pease mini started at 5:00pm last week and we went to 21 holes. I had said 5:30 but forgot about the addition of 15-17. Lets pass the word around as 5:00pm for the next few weeks as we continue to gain some more daylight.

For real, try to be at Pease for the 10:00am start. We will play 18 holes due to the Eyores deal. The sheriffs have informed me that all discgolfers will be allowed in from the 24th street/Parkway RD. entrance. Just mention to the sheriff that you are in the tournament and he will let you in to park by hole #1. However, you must be there before 10am. After that, the sheriffs will let no one through. If it is not raining yet, we will have the mini for sure. If it is a soaker at 9:00am we will not have the mini and Eyores will probably use its rain date of next Saturday. If you don't want to talk to the sheriff be there before 9:00am. The course is looking great! Thanks Waterloo Disc Golf Club  Sign up for COTO early......get your entry form from the pro shop or titledisc.com

Atplastic - *shakes head*

I know you're more creative than Vargas, Mitch. Just because you're married to a redneck, doesn't mean you can't occasionally expect more out of yourself when it comes to creative humor. Sheesh, people think Martyr is a dumb nickname, but its a classic next to Atplastic.

How 'bout "Backnforthwood," "Attheground," or "Recwood?" Our games may be a lot more similar than you care to admit, but you're gonna have to step the creative nature of the name calling up a bit.

What Mitch is trying to say is that since I basically handed him the match on one hole, played him pretty much even on the other 20 and he feels he should beat me by 10 strokes a round, he has graciously accepted my request for a rematch.

What he's also trying to say, to his credit, is that he does not want to live in a world where I'm a better golfer than him, and that he needs this rematch to prove to himself that this isn't the case. Especially since he didn't do anything on his own during our round to prove it.

May 10 2004, 04:06 PM
The course at Pease is looking better and better. Thanks Dan Mueller, Roger Allen, Rob Hecht, John Falcon, Mitch Justice, Mark McCrimmon, and many others who have worked VERY VERY hard on the improvements!

There will be one more work day at Pease before COTO. It will be on Wednesday May 12th, starting at 4:30 and continuing until the stuff is done or we run out of daylight. Things that will be helpful: a few weedeaters, a couple of wheelbarrows, and a lot of strong backs (cmon you young guns, we need you).

If you like the improvements you are seeing, please let these folks know how much you appreciate it. They are volunteering a lot of time and effort to make the courses nicer for everyone - and the Waterloo Club and the city are putting a lot of
money & effort (club) and material (city) into it too. The club could also use your support, both monetarily by joining the club (or renewing your membership) and physically by donating some of your time and energy.

If you dont like the changes or how they have come about, just let the club know; we do value your feedback. You can call any of the board members, email me, or talk to any of us in person. But please, give your opinion in a constructive way. Just ********, moaning, and complaining about it doesnt help especially if you do it in an aggressive and confrontational way. That is a good way to have your opinion disregarded and it is also a good way to discourage people from wanting to help out in the future.

There will be a few more opportunities to pre-register for COTO. You can do it in person at the Saturday morning Pease mini (KT Stockham or Patty Justice will be there to take your entries), or at the Tuesday evening mini, or at the Wednesday work day. Otherwise, mail it in right away or enter at www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) up until Wednesday evening. Last chance, assuming we arent full by then, will be at Fridays doubles. Flex tee off starts at 1:30 pm and will probably continue until about 5 or 5:30.

Dont forget that you can help support COTO by purchasing one of the sweet fundraiser discs for $25. As a supporter, your name will go on a tee sign during the tournament. You can get the discs from Moodys trailer or from Dan, Roger, Mitch, Mark, or me.

Thanks!

hows the creek doing

Flowing.

There's not a dry path across it anywhere. I played yesterday, and you can wade across for now . About thigh-deep across #4, and calf-deep on the crossings further down-stream.

If the creek keeps rising (as it most likely will this week), crossing at #4 will be fool-hearty and ill-advised...if even possible. The crossings further downstream might not be much better.

Moody mentioned yesterday the possibilty of 3-4 alternate holes that could be set up to minimize creek crossings.

Thanks for the infro Rooster :D

May 12 2004, 12:22 PM
Rooster...that is a bit misleading. By the time the mini started the creek was down to ankle deep on #4 and less in other spots. Remember the creek rises and falls rapidly. Alternate holes would only be needed if there were continuous rain for hours, not scattered showers or t-storms. Keep you cup half-full and don't buy in to the sensational :) The tee boxes handled the water well! Good footing on all boxes. No aces.

Just a reminder that this afternoon and evening will be a work day at Pease. We could really use some help in getting the course finished up and ready for COTO. It officially starts at 4:30 pm, but if you have a chance to get down there a little earlier, Roger Allen & Charles Chaumont will be there with a tamper to pack down the tee boxes. They could use a little extra help getting it around and getting the boxes ready to be tamped.

If you can, bring rakes and shovels for tee box work. Also some weedeaters would be useful too.

The tournament is very close to full. Titledisc is already shut down (we are too close to full to leave it up any longer), but we should have a few spots available to those who show up in person at the park for the work day.

If you have entered, but have not received an email or phone call with confirmation, check the pdga signup list site to make sure your name is there. If it is not (or if you are not in the correct division), call or email Ray tonight or call/email me tonight or tomorrow. The course will be completely available for practice in the morning and after we tee off the last doubles card. Play during the afternoon will probably depend on how many doubles teams we need to get through the course before dark. If we have some open gaps, you can play in those, but the doubles teams will have priority.

On Friday evening, there will be a disc golf party at Bongos BBQ (corner of West 24th and San Gabriel just up 24th from the park, towards campus). You do not need to be in the tournament to come to the party. All disc golfers are welcome. We will have door prizes periodically throughout the evening. It starts at 5pm and goes until about 9pm. Come eat some good bar-b-que, drink some beer, and have a great time. Some people will probably be bringing discs and stuff to sell, trade, and buy (a mini fly mart kind of thing). If we can, well bring doubles results up there as we wrap things up at the course. And hopefully the tee times postings too.

May 19 2004, 12:15 PM
CWare, nice 2 on 12 last night. I forgot all about talking about the OB as I gave out the cards. It must have gone well, no trouble from those I talked to. We may go on like we have in the past: "If your in the creek bed and your disc is wet, your OB." We have also played the scummy water on #18 as OB over the last seven years. One day it would be nice to have the creek stringlined in some areas.

whos playing today and what time is the mini?

May 25 2004, 12:28 PM
The mini tees at 5:30pm today. Still $300.00 ace pot. Come get it. The park still looks good. The layout offers about 6 to 8 ace chances. Pros don't need an ace pot, plenty of players these days at $10 a player and nothing to the house. Pays heavy to the winners.

May 25 2004, 12:32 PM
Another reminder: All players in the mini always get discounts on any purchase, $2 off the high end and $1 off the low end plastic. This applies to payout for the am div's as well :)

Tuesday mini? If its pouring , no mini today. If it lets up in the afternoon and looks promising then I'll be there. C-Ware, most of the time you need to be -3 to -5 to be in the money. Pease has many birdies, today everything is short following the hoser invitational last weekend. Dion Garcai won that again.

from our good friends at Waterloooooo:

[b]Tuesdays, beginning in July, the Waterloo Icehouse at W. 38th and Medical Parkway will extend happy hour pricing till close for all disc golfers.

The Waterloo Icehouse was a generous sponsor at the 2004 COTO, donating numerous dining certificates, plentiful beverages and the use of their canopy tent throughout the event.

A friend of the Austin disc golf community, Icehouse General Manager Alex Johnson now invites golfers to take the short hop up Lamar Blvd. after Moody's Pease park mini, or when you've shut your work day down, Tuesdays at Waterloo, for cold drinks and good food.

Supporting those who support disc golf in Austin has never been easier. Enjoy your summer and keep 'em flyin'.

Martin T and Gary Collier both shoot -4 in Adv. for the split-win (for the second week in a row, I shoot a -3, and for the second week, come in 2nd in Adv.)

The ace pot was hit by Joe (#9), and the gentelman that he is, he did buye beer for all in attendance after the round.

I've been thinking about heading to Austin to play golf once a month or so. I'd like to get back to competitive golf and Houston is a tough place to do that. It's hard to find the motivation here since we have maybe three open pros and one or two pro masters who can compete in a major tournament and Wilchek doesn't really get out much.

Someone told me last weekend that there are 20+ open pros alone at any given Pease mini. Now, I could find motivation in that. Plenty of top quality golfers to push your game.

After the Pease mini, what other competition is going on around Austin. Ideally, I'd like to play Pease, go for a swim and lunch, relax a little and play another mini if there are any. Any suggestions?

The occasional Saturday afternoon minis by Waterloo tend to be held more in the fall/winter/spring time, when it gets dark early (and/or isn't so hot). When it stays light later, we usually do it on a weeknight. Afternoon minis are especially rare - and lightly attended - during the blazing hot summer afternoons.

here's what i sent to the website and board monitor contact emails:

Not sure why conrad is ignoring PM's , but there needs to be an apology to hawk for the scurrilous way in which his avatar was deleted without so much as the courtesy of asking him to remove it. It's not like it was even offensive, in fact it was as tame as the article in DGWN featuring playboy bunnies. Being there is no clear policy on avatars, it is patently unfair to remove them without first creating guidelines as to what is allowed and what is not. At the very least a warning or Pm asking him to remove it would have been a better way to handle this. I am a board monitor for another site and a volunteer for the PDGA also, yet this does not make me, or any of us, from making mistakes. the best way to handle a mistake is to apologize and correct the situation so that there is a clear process to follow in the future to avoid such mistakes. Avoiding the issue will NOT make it go away, and the board members will not continue to be ignored. If you like we will go as far as calling for a vote for the board monitor and IT positions, so as to have some accountablility for the actions of the people running the message board.

Was the mini yesterday at Pease? Anyone want to post the scores?

Oct 13 2004, 11:56 AM
Vinnie -7 followed by 4 -6...Suda, Alex D, Mark Stevens, Joe Torres. Joe also hit an ace, only worth $26.00 due to last weeks ace by Mike Owen. Adv, wow, 17 Advanced players showed up on time at 5:00pm!!! Thanks for keeping the mini alive as we lose light each week. Richard shot his personal best -10 followed by Martin T at -7...fuzzy from there. I think Ric Johnson tied for third with Brandon at -3 and then Troy with a -1. Not sure, I think Troy was tied and won the playoff for last cash. 5:00pm again next week and then we'll find out who can make the winter mini as it starts at 4:00pm after Halloween.

Also, this coming Saturday we will have another "player appreciation" day for those who play the mini. The Saturday mini should tee around 10:00am if all are signed up on time. You play golf and the pro shop will provide a good sale price on all discs and some cold frosties on me.
