My first order has been shipped!!!

For me, color IS an issue. Because of my poor eyesight, I need the brightest, highest-contrast colors I can find to ensure I can pick them out against the ground, otherwise I end up wasting a lot of time trying to find my discs. Basically, that means I can't throw yellow or green discs in Spring or Summer (the high-contrast fluorescent yellow-green CEs were an exception), or orange or dark red discs in Fall or Winter. Clear discs are also a problem for me because the colors generally aren't dense enough or intense enough to stand out. Practically speaking that means my color choices are limited to saturated pink (bubble gum pink doesn't do it) or white.

I MAY be able to use the clear red Roc I received, but the clear yellow one is worthless to me except as trade bait. That's why I'm disappointed.

Anyone want to trade an opaque pink or opaque blue 2004 for a clear yellow one? :(



fore - I play mostly at night, so I know where you're coming from about color. My Rocs haven't come yet (supposedly on their way). Normally, I'd be happy to trade if I got your colors, but since I live in Hawaii, the logistics would be difficult.

If all you care about it visibility, and aesthetics are unimportant, I'd suggest dyeing that yellow disc to a better color. Basic dyeing is pretty easy - the tricky part is getting a nice pattern. I don't know how you'd be able to make saturated pink, but it might be possible. You can definitely achieve opaque black on a Champion disc. Anyway, it might be worth a try if you can't find anyone to trade. PM me if you need instructions.

Just got mines today, I don't remember the color nor weights requested but all of mines are 177, Green with silver claw stamp, yellow with red ring of rocs stamp, and a blue with silver hole number 5 stamp. I got a blue with a silver stamp last year (2003 CE Rocs) and didn't like it, and now I've got a new one with the exact same color, blahh. But I'm happy I at least have 3 in my hands. I also ordered a GLOW Roc cuz of this thread, felt I needed to add that collectible to my collection.

Well, even though I don't 100% agree, I understand what you are saying. You should get a gram scale and take it with you to the disc store. :D:D:D

yes the 179's are fine but if somebody wants those mid to lower 170's i will trade for 178 or higher.

Those people selling those CE Rocs on ebay are going to be disappointed when they dont get there 180 or 179 and have to explain to the winning bidder that they dont have those weights. If that happens they can end up getting in trouble for false item description.

I GOT MINE. :D They were here when I got home. I asked for the colors I wanted and for the weight to be as close to 175 as possible on the regular CE. I asked for the heaviest possible on the Glow CE and got a 178.

I took the 179 out after work STABLE I know it is still cold but this disc is a pig couldn't flip it over so maby I got lucky with the 175 hopefully it will have more glide. The glo is sweet looks and seems to feel (still in plastic) like the 2001's I would trade the 179 clear orange for any 177 and higher solid red, stamp not important if anyone is interested.

My order still says processing so don't rely on the site they are swamped and as others have said they are more interested in getting them out than updating your account.

As far as the Clear orange being a bust I am not sure about others just that mine has little glide. The last time I purchased CE Rocs was AM worlds in Nashville. So I am incredibly spoiled I remembe being in the room next to the flymart in nashville rooting through the 100 disc case boxes holding entire stacks of perfect 180's what a great memory if I had only known . Needless to say these are not on the same page as the 2001's except for the glo but that will never come out of the bag.

Just received my bad ***** rocs today. I like that the glowies are in a sealed bag. If you missed out to bad 4 you, maybe next year. :cool:

I checked the two credit card accounts I used to purchase some CE Rocs (that had shown debits for the order amounts) and they no longer reflect the debits!

I can't figure this out, but I sent ZD an e-mail (a nice one) asking what was going on. I've been suspecting a problem since I received no e-mail confirmations and my e-mail never showed up when I tried to check the accounts I set up the night I placed my orders. A ZD Rep assured me that all online orders were received, but now I'm worried.

Because I was worried, however, I ordered a few more later that night and said I would send a check, which I have. The only problem is, there were no light discs in that order so my wife and son will likely get PO'd with me if the other ones don't make it. </font>

Same thing happened to me. I thought maybe I was just seeing things but mine got debited...undebited...and debited again today when I got my discs. I wouldn't worry about it. You will get your discs. I think the incredible amount of orders at once just made things a bit insane with getting confirmation, debiting, tracking orders...etc. Don't worry, when it's over it's a very happy ending. At least it was for me! It will all happen again next year!

What's the deal...i'm expecint mine soon and to honest I am disapointed with the reviews. I know that Innova can't please everybody with what they want, but don't tell consumers you can pick your color, weight and stamp and not deliver it. I thought it might have been to good to be true. I ordered some for a couple friends, they will be disapointed as well when I tell them they are not getting what they ordered. "yeah man i know you wanted a clear blue claw stamp at max weight, but instead youre getting a solid orange claw stamp at 172???? Still can't wait to get them though.

Just got in from a quick try out with the 179g Glo. In my hands it is very slightly more stable and slightly slower than my 2002 180g which is heavily used but not beat. I like it.

Hey thanks. I guess ZD's going nuts up there right now. A ZD rep was nice enough to e-mail me this morning to tell me that two orders were shipped today. They arrived this afternoon. Darn quick Big Brown Truck :D

I went through the packing slips and they were right on with the weights for me, 176 g, but we only got one 165 (wife and sons) when asked for three. We got some nice colors, but no PURPLE! I love purple discs! But weight is the real issue, so I'm not complaining!

I would be interested in trading a red, reddish/pink or yellow 176 for a couple of 165s, most any color and stamp (partial to ring o' rocs) or a PURPLE from 174-177. LMK if interested.

And BTW, how light do the Glow Rocs go and if anyone has some lighter than 179 and wants to trade for 179 or 180, LMK as well.

Actually, Nate, I don't think the problem is with ZoneDriven or Innova, I think it's impatience on our part. On one hand, we want the disc weights and colors we ordered; on the other, we want them yesterday.

Given the sheer volume of orders (1870 regular, 900+ glo sold in < 12 hours) and the pressure to deliver them quickly, ZD was confronted with a Hobbesian choice: be damned for take the time to match orders as closely as possible before shipping, or expedite shipping and be damned for getting the colors/weights wrong.

Given the number of "Can't wait to get mine" posts between Thurs when they went on sale and the time they started showing up at people's houses and the "Where's mine" posts even now, I can imagine the flood of criticism and "Where are they, dammit," posts would have been had they chosen to delay shipping and take the to match colors/weights. Would buyers as a group be happier had they taken a week to match colors/weights/stamps and ship all the 2003 USDGC Partners' orders, then another 2-3 weeks to match as closely as possible and ship the remaining orders? (Remember: they weren't going to be able to match colors/weights/stamps for everyone, or even necessarily for the majority, anyway due to the extremely limited number of discs of each color and stamp.) So despite the fact that I didn't get the colors I wanted, I think they made the correct decision. (Am I disappointed? Yes. Am I upset or mad? Definitely not. Would I order again, knowing I would get the colors I got? Absolutely!)

It is easy to say in retrospect that ZD should have been prepared for such an event. I dare say, however, that no one, and I do mean NO ONE: you, me, the folks at ZD, the folks at Innova, the folks at the USDGC, even the folks at Discraft and Gateway, was prepared for the feeding frenzy that occurred. Yes, the CE Rocs sold out in two weeks last year (two weeks, as opposed to 12 hours, mind you), and yes, one might have predicted they would sell out more quickly this year, but can anyone honestly say they expected them to sell out in less than 12 hours?)

I didnt get exactly what I wanted, but how can you expect everyone to get exactly what they wanted when 1000 people place their orders for 8 max weight discs when they only made 500(I dont know the exact #s, just using as an example).

I thank ZD for doing such a great job under so much pressure, and in doing their best to fill everyones needs!!! And I will definatly be buying them again next year!!! :D

You're correct Felix! I may not have gotten "exactly" what I wanted, but I'm definitely not upset with Innova or ZD. I think they were quite fast with the shipping, considering when I ordered. And yes, I posted a couple of "impatient messages," but I think sometimes we're spoiled by being able to get instant confirmations, tracking numbers and estimated arrival dates on many of the items we order. And many of us, me included, didn't want to be left out.

As far as anyone laughing at Innova and ZD. Laugh at the amount of money they raised for the USDGC. With all respect to the other disc manufacturers, could they produce a disc that would sell out in 12 hours at $25 a pop? :D

Innova and ZoneDriven may be wishing that they had more to sell, as there are lots of people wanting to buy. Maybe it's a good thing, selling out on <12 hours. It only adds to the legend of the Roc.

I went out today and threw my pearl 169 claws roc. the wind was blowing at or about 25 to 30 mph gust. i banged chains twice on open holes and once in the woods. i love the way they fly!!!!!!!!!! i never flipped it. seems to be as stable as i could ask for.

Man, I finally got my 180g CE Glo Roc. I was dying to get it to see how it flies. Only, I opened the package to find that it is too pretty to throw. I am NOT a collector and I can't make myself rip open that little plastic bag and peel off the 698 of 1550 sticker. Blasted!!! I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it was gonna be this pretty.

It's not about balls, it's about motivation and perspective: players play, speculators speculate. If you're a collector or a speculator, of course they're too valuable to throw; if you're not a collector or speculator, but bought them as a way of supporting the USDGC, it's simply another disc�no more, no less, and there's no reason for you NOT to throw them.

I agree totally with you! i am a disc golfer: not a collector. I am also not a money hungry person that will buy as many as possiable and/or also use another e-mail account and differant credit card number to get another max order. to be able to sell them for a large profit. it still does benfit the USDGC, but it also lines others pockets. which does nothing for disc golf. true collectors are a different story i can and do respect collecting. i have sent innova and zone driven e-mail wishing they would cut back on the max number sold to everyone (1 disc of every print; ring of rocs, stars, hole 5, etc.). this way the people who got left out would have a better chance to get their order next year and would cut down on the ones who buy for profit. i was very lucky and recived my order (1 of each print, no glo). i can tell you i would have went without the disc (each one will be thrown) if i would have had to buy off of e-bay.

I'm not really a collector, but I agree with Casey. It's just too hard to rip open the package. The regular ones though, they're gonna fly. I've thrown my 177 pearl white, it's stable and flies beautifully. I don't know if it's a different mold or just the plastic/color, but the pearl white is more stable than the '03 Roc, IMHO. I had the same problem. I used scotch tape on the back to create a hump. Its hanging fine now. At first, the tape was there just to make sure I didn't rip a hole in the bag with the nail its hanging on.

Sorry guys but they really aren't going on my wall. I think the plastic bag would take away from the aesthetics of the current glow-wall setup. Of course, I could start a bagged disc wall. Bagged comic book walls are common. It might happen.

this was after i explicitly asked for 180 only, and if there were no more 180, then to contact me. no contact, only lightweight, wrong color roc with gayest stamp available. terrible.

that sucks! i'd be getting a refund or replacement. Thats the only reason i don't buy CE rocs from zonedriven. Spending that kind of money on a disc that you don't get what color or weight you want is pointless to me. I'll stick to my trusty Z-Rocs. :)

OUT-FLIPPINSTANDING!!! Finally got 'em today. Did I get specifically what I asked for? No. Am I dissapointed? NO! They were pretty close. At least I have a full set in different colors. And listening to what y'all have said so far, even though I asked for all max wt. and got a 167 and 3 172's besides the 179's, I still feel pretty lucky. Think I'll hold on to those light weight's too. With all the chaos that ensued I think ZD handled it as best they could. THANK YOU. :D

Just got mine today. Four glows and eight regular ones. Didn't even get close to my color choices, but were within one gram of weight choices. Overall, pretty happy.

I did notice that the plastic on these seems a little firmer than the 2003 rocs I have. Anyone else notice any major mold/plastic difference in these and previous years. I don't have and '01 or '02 so I can't make the comparison.

Got my 179 glow roc today (and a first run champion mini)!!!!! I bought it to give as a CTP prize for our tourney, but I like it so much I might just keep it. Are the autographs real or printed? It seems Pearl 04 Rocs are the most wanted. Why? My pearl roc seems a tad more gummy than the clear colored ones- just an observation.

Got my rocs, but unfortunately they were way off. I was very disappointed to find that instead of getting the 177 blue claws and the 177 green ring o rocs i ended up with a 169 yellow claw and a 169 white hole 5. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad i was lucky enough to even get those but I am a thrower not a collector and those weights are very far off. I think the way the ordering was set up sucked. If i knew that my order wasnt even going to be close then I wouldnt have bothered filling out what weight, color, or stamp that I wanted. What was the point. I also got some glows which are beautiful and of course not throwable but I wish I could have spent today trying the colors. But now I must keep them nice in case anyone wants to trade. Regardless, anyone looking for lightweight rocs at 169 please let me know. I will trade for anything (well almost anything) in the 175-178 range.

For all you folks looking for a light CE ROC, I have a Yellow Hole #5 and/or a Pearl Claws both at 169. I'd like to trade for a max weight (178-180), but I may take a 175 or above (pending stamp and color and such). PM if interested.

I receieved my Roc's yesterday. I got the stamps I ordered, the weights were fairly close. I didn't get all max. weight, and did end up with several in the high 160's. I'm very happy. The glow Roc's were all heavy, and the numbers ranged from the 200's to the 500's. I've got more of those coming, but expect those to be even higher in the numbering.

One had a shipping rub across the top, that'll be the one that gets thrown. Makes that decision easy because they're all so sweet. Roc on!

Getting something was more about being on the ball than about luck. If you cared enough to follow this thread, get on the call list, keep checking Zonedriven, and then drop everything the moment they went on sale, you got something. I didn't even order until they'd been going for 3 hours and I still got pretty much what I asked for.

And if all the whining upsets you . . . stop whining about it and don't read the thread.

I'm not unhappy with what I got, except the order was short two light Rocs and I asked for purple and didn't get one. Wanted it for personal preference, not collectability. Still, The ones I did receive were right in my preferred weight range. Too many star stamps, though :DBut I still love 'em. rWc :cool:

Mine came yesterday. I asked for Pearl 180 Ring of Rocs and Orange 175 Claws. I got Pearl 175 Stars and Clear Blue 177 Claws.

Considering I asked for something that doesn't even exist (Pearl 180 Ring of Rocs), I'm pretty happy. The Pearl plastic feels awesome. I'm looking forward to throwing it tonight.

Some random thoughts, because I know you all care deeply:

It seems like nobody wants to take their glow Rocs out of the package because it will decrease the resale value. The problem is, if everybody keeps theirs in mint condition, the resale value won't go up! It's clear that such a nice disc, individually numbered and specially packaged with an autographed card, is targeted at collectors. The price alone would probably deter many people (like me) from throwing it. In creating the ultimate collector's piece, Innova may have inadvertently kept the disc's ultimate value lower. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that the people paying $150 for 2001 CE Rocs on Ebay right now are either serious collectors, seriously addicted to throwing them, or seriously rich. Let's consider those three groups in a couple years: Serious collectors will have been able to get their 2004 glow Rocs. In fact, they probably have them already. The only way people will get addicted to throwing these discs is if people throw them. If everyone keeps theirs in the package, or on the wall, they won't become an irreplaceable part of anyone's bag. As for seriously rich disc golfers? There can't be many of those. So my question is, who's going to buy these discs in a few years? The $40 price tag is already a deterrent. Compare this to the $25 2004 Rocs. Some people want to collect them, others want to throw them. Not only do they sell out in hours, but many of them won't stay in mint condition for long. The supply of new ones will steadily decrease, driving the price up. Anyone who wants to make money later should figure out which stamp/color/weight is the most sought after and hoard them. Someone mentioned the Pearl as a likely candidate. Well, after this evening, there will be one less mint-condition Pearl 175 Stars Roc.

I could be wrong about all this, and in any case, those who bought the glow Rocs shouldn't feel bad. It's a great-looking disc, and the higher price means more money for the USDGC. I still might buy one if a few skins rounds go my way . . .

Random thought #2 is more of a question: How much did the CE Rocs from other years originally sell for?

Now that's the kind of thinking we need around here! I didn't get any glow Rocs though, because they cost too much. Guess I'll just have to use my trusty Photon Wasp.

What's really sad is I spent almost as much on shipping as on the discs themselves. The only option on ZD for shipping to Hawaii is UPS Next Day Air. Two discs ship for $35. I asked them if there was any other option, and they wrote back, saying they found out they could use 2nd Day Air for about half the cost. They used 2nd Day Air, but I still have to check that they remembered to change the amount they charged me. This is a few days after Gateway charged me $10 for shipping to Hawaii, then sent my discs Priority mail . . . for $3.85! Not everything about living in Hawaii is paradise.

We all feel real sorry for ya boru, real sorry. :(

No flags or USDGC logo in the 2004 USDGC "Ring-o'-Rocs" hotstamp, just the words "USDGC 04." On hotstamp color, I've got green and gold, and have seen red, blue, and silver.

I have a 2003 I've been throwing for about a year and it's still in great condition and it's been used a bunch. Plus, I'm still trying to get my hands on a purple 2004 :( If nothing happens soon, there is a nice red 176 thats marked for the bag! I plan on throwing my two non-glows, and if I bought a glow, I'd throw it. I just don't see the demand for them being as high as for the others. For one thing, they're expensive. For another, midrange discs don't get lost very often. And as you point out Russ3523, they last a long time. All of that says to me that even die-hard throwers won't be buying them in huge stacks. Last I checked, you could still get the glows off ZD. That's good news for you guys, not so great for people who want to make money off them down the road.

A couple questions: f.luke, are you dyeing the disc after you take off the stamp or just leaving it blank? A blank glow disc would look pretty cool.

And do you guys play a lot of night golf, or did you choose the glow plastic to throw during the day because of the way it flies?

I'm not sure this is the one, but it sounds like the disc he described Ring of Rocs Auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3660678094&category=20851) I was really surprised that it sold for so much, because as far as I know, it's just a DX Roc with a cool stamp. Am I wrong? Were these made out of something other than DX plastic. It seems clear that this was not a 2004 CE Roc, at least to me. rWc :cool:

That blew me away (the price) since I saw them, and it was apparently on the ZD website, for I think $10-$12. I was wondering if there was some reason they were slightly more than your average DX Roc, other than the cool stamp. I love my 11x KC ROcs and even they are only about $10. I finally got mine yesterday adnd since I got them so late, I was not suprised that I got the dregs. Not that what I got are bad discs but:

Ordered:
180 green ROR stamp
175 green ROR
180 blue Ring of rocs stamp.

Got:
2 pearl white 171g Hole 5 stamp and Claw stamp.
1 red/orange 171g Stat stamp.

Kinda disappointed to tell you the truth. I did notice one thing. The pearl discs seem to be less domey than the red discs. Did anyone else notice a similar thing with their pearl rocs?

The pearl ones are most certainly flatter. Rhmiracle got a stack and was nice enough to pass two along to me at cost the two 173's I requested, one was pearl the other another color, I looked at about 8 that rich had and all the other colors were domey. I think perhaps the glo ones are flat too, not sure on that. Anyway, I broke out the pearl one and am throwing it, it flies quite similar to the 2001s.

Well I am looking for Pearl White 04 CE ROCS. Any stamp weights have to be 175g to 177g. I have Blue/Red 04 CE Rocs for equal trade for. Let me know, just PM me here.

Look we all know that ZoneDriven and Innova didn�t do so well getting these USDGC 2004 CE ROCS out, but look at the larger picture.

1. They sold out within 24 hours! (They did not expect that considering it took 2 weeks last year)
2. They made $50,000+ within 24 hours for the USDGC.
3. Their website got slammed with thousands of users trying to purchase the roc. Yes they were overwhelmed.

With all of that happening I am not surprised there were orders out there that were not even close to what they wanted. You have to look at this from afar. Innova and ZD did an awesome thing for the USDGC. I understand they were not prepared for this. Hopefully next year they will learn from this mistake and be better prepared. With all the phone calls, emails and website orders I can better understand why they did not complete the orders as requested. I will still purchase from them over and over. As long as it helps this beautiful game of Disc Golf. Again this is just my own opinion on the matter.

This reminds me of an infamous wedding gown sale that Filene's Basement in Boston has every year. They put all these designer dresses on sale for a fraction of the original cost. Hordes of women gather outside the door, and then when the store opens, they all run in and grab whatever they can reach, regardless of size or style. Then, when everything's taken, they look around for people to trade with.

So next year we all just need to remember this isn't normal disc shopping. And if you absolutely must have a certain weight/color/stamp, then this probably isn't the event for you.

My point was that if they're going to have time to sort out all the orders as best they can, we'll have to wait a lot longer for our discs. Anyway, doesn't really matter to me. I got close enough to what I ordered . . . more than 3 hours after they went on sale!

What I meant with that comment was Neil at ZD basically treated me very well. There is no personal connection I have with ZD.

I got two ce rocs yesterday. I have clear blue and clear red/orange?? with both claws and same 170 grams. I asked for 175 and 180. Well having only the 03 CE ROC'Z to compare with. I would have to say that it seem's almost twice as fast as my 03. I took it out to throw today in 15-20 mph and it did not FLIP but it did get SSSSSSOOOOOOOOOO NICE & FLAT /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif The real TEST will come this SUN. Out in the COLOMBIA RIVER GORGE at The NEWEST Course in the PORTLAND AREA "ROOSTER ROCK" State Park. IMHO $40 is Reasonable for a DISC that will be STABLE a year from now. As my 03 is just starting to :cool: FLIP. Up here we have alot of :eek: LARGE TREE'Z that we /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif try to throw around. $40 buck's is a round of BG & a cart not including DRINK'Z ;) ALL INNOVA ALL THE TIME PLUS SUPPORTING THIS GREAT GAME WE ALL ARE ADDICTED TOO :cool::cool:/msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

i dont know if anyone else has said anything but i heard that the glo rocs were only 177-180 and then i got a 174, 176, and 177

they were 170-180. the majority were heavy weights.

I ordered on mine thursday (the day they went on sale 5 pm), didn't get mine for over 10 days never got an email and didn't get even close to what I asked for. So it had nothing to do when how quickly you got your order in...

I made my donation to USDGC with intent of throwing CE ROC's, now I'm selling all discs I got (too light). Bottom line I still don't have the CE ROC's in the weights I wanted to throw... maybe next year ;0(

I'm wit R.O.G on that one.. I support the cause for raising USDGC $ but like any biz you gotta provide good customer service & provide the customer w/what they want or run the risk of losing as much support next year. If you cant provide what the peeps want, we'll find it elsewhere.

Who said anything about a reasonable price? Its the nature of the biz. As a consumer if you dont get what you want 1x are you gonna buy a 2nd x.. I'm not.. & in comparison to the 01 & even my favorite the 02.. these Rocs are far from golden

Hardly. The Z-wasp's profile is flatter, the bead is taller, and the bevel on the underside of the rim is flatter, yielding a faster, more overstable flight. It also requires noticably more power to hold a line.

Is the Z-wasp similar to a CE Roc? Yes. is it an acceptable substitute? Perhaps for you, but not for me.

I was out throwing my 04, 171g champ pearl roc yesterday and it is not near as overstable as I thought. It also is a lot faster than i thought. It seems to fly a lot like my Buzz only doesn't come back as hard at the end and goes farther. We have a hole that is 351 feet (figured using a rangefinder) and I threw the roc 330 at least pretty much on a line. I've never been able to do that but maybe I was all pumped up to be finally throwing it. I hope the heavier CE Roc I'm trading my other disc for will be a bit more overstable. Anyone else noticing these things seem faster this year?

yup, they do seem faster. My 180 is a lot more stable than my 2002 too also. Very good disc I think. Innova did a great job.

Ive been throwing a 177 roc and loving it. Its much faster than I could have expected and Ive been getting some frozen ropes with it. Im glad all of this waiting and hype have been worth it.

Yes my 170g pearl is a straight flyer with my 179g glow being stable. These CE rocs are alot faster than 02 and 03.

I have been allowing players to make the trade since I had higher weights and won't be throwing them anyway. Now my weights are lower so if someone wants lower weights, I have them.

I reviewed all the remaining Glows. I found one 178 gram with a black hotstamp that is just above your desired weight range.

I also found three 176 gram Glows in the X part box. These should fly just fine, but since they are not packaged and do not include the autographed collector card, the price is $25. I believe that this was the same price for last year's x-parts. Please let me know if you are interested.
