Revolution Team Bag is nearly in-destructable.
Revolution wrote the book on quality when it comes to disc golf bags.

Jan 05 2004, 08:14 PM
If your gonna spend 120 on a bag, why dont you just get the big $25 LIGHTNING bag and use the extra $90 on putters or put it aside for a basket or something. I've had my cheap lightning bag for almost a year and it doesn't show any signs of wear. bottle holder also easilly holds a 1L Nalgene

Jan 05 2004, 08:25 PM
Quality over quantity, thats why you spend the 100 (not 120) on the revolution bag. Your lightning bag may have lasted you that long but I guaranty the the revolution bag would last longer. Its made of better, waterproof material and has more extra storage room (extra pockets). Spending 90 dollars on more discs isn't always better. Spending more time practicing is.

Although I am a Revolution owner, there are options that I feel are better if you do not carry more than 10 discs. Lowe Alpine and Mountain Smith both make fanny packs that are huge and carry 8-10 discs and come with a shoulder strap. They both have spave for 2 nalgenes and misc gear in a small front pocket. They both are built bomb proof. Just another option if you want to spend $40.00-$60.00.

Moolie-

We have a great small sized disc golf bag called the REVOLUTION MINI Bag. It holds 8-10 discs in the main compartment, has a padded back, and an internal frame to keep the discs organized and the bag from rolling around.

The MINI Bag has a mesh utility pocket that can hold a Nalgene bottle and a zippered storage pocket for the essential extras. It has a padded shoulder strap and is MADE IN USA of durable and water resistant 500d cordura. There are exra mounting points so you can attach a pair of quadshocks if you like.

The REVOLUTION MINI Bag is designed by disc golfers for disc golf. Our materials and construction are unmatched. REVOLUTION Disc Golf supports players and events around the country. There are seven colors to choose from and a price tag of $40.

Not sure how you can beat that if you're looking for a smaller capacity DG-specific bag!

The Gateway Starter bag is a great choice if you don't want to carry much. It's tough, waterproof, and a steal at $20. You don't get much in the way of frills, but between the bottle-holder, the putter pouch, the zip pocket, and the mesh scorecard/mini pocket, you can carry pretty much everything you need. I use a cheap carabiner to attach my towel to the strap. I think the Gateway site lists the Starter bag's capacity as 6-7 discs, but I've had no problem carrying 9, and you can cram in up to 11. Gateway was selling a Starter bag, Wizard, and Sabre package for $30, including shipping, for a while. Most people will probably want more capacity for tournaments, but if you're looking for quality, simplicity, and value, I strongly recommend the Gateway Starter bag.

No, I don't work for Gateway.

is there any way to get the exterior matle bottle holder for the Texas bag. I have a team bag and would like the bigger holder. There is a great outdoor store in Mpls that could do the sewing if I could get the material.

I don't have material myself but you can often get Cordura in a variety of weights from fabric stores. Here in the DC area, there's a place called G Street Fabrics that carries a good selection of outdoor-style materials.

If the outdoor store sews stuff regularly, they might have access to the cordura and foam that would be required to add another bottle holder to your TEAM Bag.

Also, I'll see what we can do about creating an add-on bottle holder. Maybe we can create something that attaches using the small utility pocket next to the water bottle holder. Might be a nice option for anyone who want to carry two bottles...

Thanks,

Replacement frame parts as well as whole frames are definitely available for your TEAM Bag. Give me a call or email and we'll figure out what you need.

Also, know that you can throw your bag in the washing machine and they come out looking like new. Wash it by itself and then hang dry it overnight. Don't forget to take your discs out!

You don't have to specifically order an internal frame, you can cut the cost by going to your local hardware store, Home Depot, Lowes... and purchase a wooden dowel rod (get a thick one). Cut two pieces to length and screw the end boards of the frame back on the rods with 2" wood screws (drill pilot holes first). As a matter of fact anyone could build their own homemade frame that way if their bag did not have one.

And I plan on doing just that. Right after I complete my build-at-home shoe rack, finally hang that wall mirror that's been leaning up against the wall for the past 2 years, re-pot 3 plants, re-paint my bathroom ceiling, re-finish my parkay wood floors, make some curtains to cover up my blinds... Never mind - I think I'll just order a new one :D

People seem to be very satisfied with the Revolution bags. From what I understand, the Club Bag is usually more than adequate, but if you have the money the Team Bag is more fun.

I'm planning on picking up a Club Bag as soon as I can scrounge together a few bucks.

I am enjoying the hell out of my Texas team bag, and I don't even live in Texas. So, perhaps we should refer to it as the Oregon team bag? Anyways, the thing is built like a tank. You can tell that whoever made this bag was sick of lesser bags coming apart. It's overbuilt. (and I mean that in a good way).

I had a first run Gateway bag. It was fine except I didn't like the pocket situation. There was no loop for the towel to clip to and no pocket for a water bottle. I believe that most if not all of these problems have been fixed.

However, when I went to replace the bag, I chose a Revloution club bag. I chose it because of their reputation for a quality bag and the price. The club bag does hold more discs than I ever use. This means I have plenty of space for an extra towel inside the bag along with an extra drink bottle or snacks. The side pocket are large enough to carry all of the other stuff I tote around. It also has a rain fly that you can cover the opening and snap shut. I'm very pleased with the quality of this bag. It also came in purple. ;)

Good choice Anita! I decided on the Texas Team Bag after trying the several different bags. The Quality of the bags are outstanding. You get what you pay for. I definitely like the larger water bottle holder on the Texas Team bag.

I have to second the PDGA tour bag. I hooked it up with some Quadshocks at the 4 corners (where the loops are at the end of the zippers for the large pockets) and it's schweet!!!

The straps stay open, are easy to put on, and the bag sits nice and flush on the back. The 2 drink pockets on the bag are a god send. Large enough to fit 2 Nalgene bottles. The only thing I don't like is the accordian dividers and would prefer a divider like the Rev bags. Aside from that it's a stellar set-up! ... and cheaper than a Rev+QuadShock combo. These bags are built extremely well.

when is wall city gonna make a new bag? that is the one bag that has lasted the longest for me but the design wasnt the best. the material used seems to be similar to the material of a revo bag, which I am leaning towards more and more, now that my tour bag is falling apart.

tour bag:
-water battle holder ripping
-two rings have torn and now using the umbrella straps to hold my quads
-rings for the straps are starting to tear out of the seams.

pdga bag:

I personally have the Baby Revolution bag. They are around $40.00 It holds 12-14 disc's , super durable , holds water bottles. Super Comfy with Quad Shocks. So lite with 12 discs , you would hardly notice your carring anything.

Make your own dividers. I went to a local hardware store and bought a couple of 14" bolts, lock nuts, washers, 1/2" PVC pipe, and purchased a set of plastic dividers from Gateway. I had to purchase a few discs in order to to get them but well worth it. I actually use the setup in an old Lightning Pro style bag which carries my extra discs for practice. So for a few bucks it can be done. The best part is if you want to use it in different bags you can buy shorter or longer bolts and PVC pipe and switch them for whatever bag you want.

You just need to be creative. :D

I've had my Wall City Mega-cube for almost 4 years now. It has held up very well, and I'm sorry to hear they are not producing them anymore. That bag is the perfect size for me. Once I tore that **** mesh bag off, everything was cool.

Oh yeah, I live in Austin, Tx. and it gets pretty hot out here. I have to sneak rounds of golf in durring the day as time allows, and I work out of my truck, so my discs LIVE in the cab. My bag sits on the passenger floorboard, with a pdga towel covering it, and I have never had a single disc warp on me.

I guess I'm going to start looking for a replacement--

One the of the best bags I've ever gotten was also the cheapest. At Academy sports in Texas you can get these cheap-[*****] "Golfmate" brand bags. They are actually made for disc golf, and hold up REALLY well for the 9-12$ they run (9 bucks for the small, 12 or 13 for the large). The only downside is that the strap is attached and would require major modifications for a quad-shock to be attached. Also as far as larger bags go, I'm currently using the PDGA Tour bag with Phenix quad-shocks and have yet to see one loose seam!

Adam, I had a Golfmate bag that didn't make it to 6 months. The seams didn't bust but the material on the bottom of the bag tore from where I would put it on the ground. I didn't even get to kick it before I couldn't use it anymore. :)

I don't use a bag. I keep all my discs under my cowboy hat.

Mine hasn't torn yet, but I do see the wear spots on the bottom that could lead to a tear. Oddly enough I've had mine for about 2-2 1/2 years now, without a single tear. It seems like it's real hit or miss with bags, even the expensive ones, some last longer than others within the same brand name. Is there any piece of consistently durable disc golf equipment???????

I have a Sky South bag, (the one with the person putting, a basket, and the words Disc Golf printed on it) holds up to 16 or so discs, plus a putter pocket (holds 2 putters) big inside pocket, mini pocket, outside side pocket, big drink holder, my only problem with the drink holder is a 12oz can will fall through the bottom. Padded shoulder strap, and a D towel ring. Great bag, I've had it since 1998! The zipper broke, but the bag has held up through the torture I put it through. No seams have split. Great bag.

I have an elite pro Discraft bag. It holds about 15 discs in the main compartment. The stiching is quite good, no wears or tears after heavy use. The main feaure of this bag is the huge storage compartment which can even carry extra discs if you like. So I guess you could have 20 discs if you wanted. All in all this is an above average bag, 4 of 5 stars. /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

i have one of the medium sized innova bags, with the big zipper pocket on one end and the cell phone/scorecard flap pouch and drink holder on the other end. it might be called the "innova deluxe bag" but i dont remember. it was $35 at play it again sports but they told me "$10 off any bag" when i was in there looking at discs, so i got it for $25. great deal.

i've had it almost 1.5 years, but it's been through lots of hell. i've probably played over 500 rounds in that year and a half, and the only tearing is the drink holder is coming away from the bag, but i can probably repair that. it's not too bad yet. i used to really overstuff the bag..i could get at least 22 discs in there..i think it's only designed for about 15 or so. these days i try to limit my disc carrying to around 14 or so.

if/when it falls apart...i'll get the revolution bag...i've seen them, and i like them alot.

I use the Innova tour bag and i think it is real sturdy as far as stitching and straps and what not.

However, I am a big fan of my wifes bag it is a Disccraft. What I like about hers is the bottom is rubber (not heavy) but she has had it 2 years still looks new. With the rubber bottom rain is no problem as far as soaking or even dewey grassy fields. One of the biggest problems with the others is the bottom gets wet and it messes it up.

I bought this bag one time for 40.00 bucks it was called blueberry, it was green with white speckels all over it. It was all buds, and man that stuff was stoney. One of the best bags I ever bought :)

I've had good luck with my Lightning 20 Disc bag with Quad shocks.
I've had it about 2.5 years and it still looks great. (of course the inside is full of old sunflower seeds, trash collected from the course, etc. Maybe I should stop typing and clean it out.. . . )
I flew from ATL to Boston last week and took it with me as checked baggage. It survived the trip up and back with no damage. I saw som Samsonite luggage come through baggage claim that looked pretty rough!
I'll probably ante up for a Revolution bag, but not until this one finally gives up the ghost!

I need a bag. Plain and simple. I don't have a lot of money to spend, but I have discs that I could trade.

I have 3 used CE Firebirds(2 are FLs...1 of the FLs is a first run CE Firebird). I also have a first run CE EL, and I have a 10x roc(180 i think).

I will be willing to trade all of that to anyone that can get me a brand new red revolution pro bag and some quad shocks(they can be used but in good shape). I think it will be a fair trade. If you are interested, send me a message.

I have tried trader's row, but I haven't had any luck on there.

Oh...and all of the discs are used, but all are in at least 8/10 quality.

Oct 30 2004, 06:49 PM
Last time I looked, the Revolution did not have a "pro" bag. But their Team bags were $100 and the Quad Shocks were $40. Thats a total of $140, even if you got the mini bag by revolution those are $40. And if you got the mini bag you would not need quad shocks.

I know that some people value CE plastic very high, but I doubt that 5 used discs equal $140 yet even $40.

If you do not have a bag yet, why would you want to go with one of the biggest on the market? I would reccomend you start off relatively small and cheaper. The innova standard bag retails for about $25 and is the same size as the revolution mini bag. Good luck though.

The Cheat's bag was stolen. He just needs a new one.

Plankeye
Oct 31 2004, 10:22 AM
He obviously doesn't know the value of CE plastic. I already got an offer to trade the first run CE FL for a pair of quadshocks.

And yes my bag was stolen with about $150 dollars worth of discs in there. I have been using a small bag for the past 3 months and it sucks now because there are a lot of time where I need a certain disc but I don't have it because I don't have room.

And yes, When I said "pro bag" I meant the team bag. I couldn't remember off of the top of my head what they were called.

I used to have an innova tour bag, but they are crap. It was falling apart and it wasn't because of me. One day I was playing and the bag just fell off of the quadshocks. My friend's bag is ripping apart at the seams and he has already had to do surgery on it.

The CHEAT is grounded. We installed that light switch so you could turn the lights on, and off. Not so you could throw lightswitch raves. Now let's go break open that glowstick and pour it in Homestar's Mountain Dew.

Nov 01 2004, 04:32 PM
Actually what I do not understand is why people will spend so much money on something they will ultimately throw into a tree or cement.

I do appreiciate and value different molds. IE San Marino Rocs, however I have found that a well seasoned second run Buzz flies just as reliable and true.

Thats a bummer about your bag being stolen. You would think that disc golfers would be more honest then that.

But also when it comes to rare discs, art is truely in the eye of the beholder. Where I may only value a CE disc in good condition for $15 someone else would pay $60. If I was the seller I would definately sell it for $60 in that case. To each his own.

I hope you find out who stole your bag.

I never play without mine unless I forget it. But I keep it set to vibrate only at PDGA's and usually other organized events and vibrate-then-ring for casual rounds. It's mostly for emergencies during events...and not too effective for such unless it gets an e-mail because I only feel it if I have my bag on.

I think many people carry theirs, including me... but 1) why would you need a separate pocket for it, and 2) just keep it off... check your phone after the round...too many times last year people's phone went off during a putt or drive...

Ok, so my wife has decided to buy me a new DG bag for Christmas and is willing to spend whatever on it if I like it (I know its rough). So I was looking to hear what people out there think about their bags, but PLEASE keep it objective and not that you like your Revolution bag because its perty. Also, I am recovering from a back issue which caused me to have uneven shoulders so any bag bought other than the Gateway Backpack (which I am at this point leaning toward) would have to have quadshocks added which would affect the overall price (and thus my total christmas loot). The main bags I was looking at were the Gateway Backpack, Gateway Tour Bag, and POSSIBLY a revolution bag, but they don't seem to hold as many discs as the Gateway Bags. I know that other threads have discussed bags and which ones people liked, but I am wanting to get answers of WHY they like them and think they are superior and not just opinions. So please give me specific reasons if you vote for one of the bags. Just for the record, my current bag is the Innova Deluxe and I fill that bag easily (roughly 17-18 discs in it I think) so I wouldn't want anything smalller. Thanks for everyone's input and I hope everyone else's Xmas is as Merry as mine. :D

I'm kind of going through the same thing and I'm also leaning twards the Gateway Backpack Bag. All I ever seem to hear about Revolution Bags is "they're the best" but I never seem to hear how they are superior to other, compareable bags like the Gateway bags. I'm sure they're extremely high quality bags, but the way people talk about them gives me the impresson that lots of people buy Revolution bags simply because they are fashionable. I don't tour or anything and I have yet to be shot at on the course so I'm not sure why I'd need to spend $140 on a bag and straps instead of $100. I have a $50 L.L. Bean backpack I got in high school that's been through at least as much abuse as a disc golf bag will ever see and it's still in great shape.

The reviews I've seen of the Gateway bags are just as good as the reviews of the Revolution bags, just lower in number.

I would love to get a Revolution bag and probably will when my Gateway Tour bag wears out. I have used it two full seasons now and it is holding up great. I am not the kind of person to throw away a good bag just to buy the latest and I am sure, the greatest.

With back problems, I would recommend a much smaller bag. Truth be told, anyone can get by with 5-7 discs. I know it is a comfort thing, and I always carry 17 discs, but at my home course all I need is three discs, and I can cut back on all the courses I know well. The problem is you need more discs for those courses you are not familiar with.

Revolution makes a smaller bag, as well as all the other companies. There is nothin wrong with a light Lightning bag till you get over your back problem, and they are cheap. I carried a big Lightning bag for a couple years and when it ripped, I just had it repaired at a tarp repair store (Kansas perk). Before that I carried a small camera bag!

I know it is christmas and you want the big dog, but you might also buy a nice smaller bag as a back-up and as a small bag till you are 100%. My 2 cents...

Reasons why Revolution Carolina Team bag is superior to Gateway back pack.
1.1200 & 1000 Cordura
2. 2 Layers of Truck Vinyl as bottom. SUPER DURABLE
3. You can put quadshocks on them (more comfy then back pack straps)
4 Heavy Duty Zipers
5. Huge side pockets
6. Padded Back of bag (where it rests on your back)
7. Has a zipper pocket on the putter pocket
8. Easy to use rain flap
9. Frame in bag is SWEET
10. 2 32 OZ water bottle holders
11. It will last you many many years!!!!!!!
12. ITS A REVOLUTION :D

Trust me the Revolution is worth your money.
Everyone buys them because they are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking AWESOME if just a bonus :D

Sounds like everyone is suggesting the Revo Carolinas or Texas bag. I've seen these, and they do look spiffy, but I like the PDGA Tour bag better (I know it's not in the poll though). With Quad shocks and shipping, it's less than $90 in most cases and definitely less than $100. I've been using mine for almost two years now, and, although it's faded a little because I got a blue one, the bag works great. I added some 3/4 or 1 inch PVC pipe as a frame to hold the discs better (just a pet peive of mine). You can't beat holding 15-20 discs, 2 drink holders, and all the pockets. And I'm known for carrying too much extra junk (Gore-tex socks, bug spray, Tylenol, kleenex, 3-4 thin towels, sunscreen, swimshorts sometimes, tennis ball, slingshot, PDA to keep score, cell phone, keys, and gummy bears). I'm not sure if the Revo bag can hold all of that, but both bags hold up very well.

I had an Innova team bag. Which is about the same as the PDGA bag but a little bit bigger. This thing ripped on me in less then 8 months of not that heavy use. I now have a Revolution Carolina Team bag. I can tell you that this bag holds MUCH more STUFF then my Innova tour bag. The side pockets are A LOT deeper and hold alot more stuff then the tour bag side pockets. I thought i carried alot of stuff when i had my tour bag but i carry alot more now and it doesnt even seem like it.

I carry huge towels like the ones you get at swim clubs or hotels when you go to the pool. The side pocket on the Revolution Carolina bag holds 3 of these. These are like 3 ft long and about 1.5 ft wide and pretty thick. I carry a clip board and a Crown Royal bag filled with sharpies and Advil and Tums. Then i carry gloves in there for winter and a hat. I also can carry 2 nalgene water bottles in the drink holders that are on both sides.

I thought the Revs were just a fad or something untill i got mine and now i KNOW they are the BEST!!!!!!!!

Nov 24 2004, 04:33 PM
I agree with jeterdog, the PDGA Tour bag is very comparable in size and function with the Revo bag and a lot cheaper.

And the best part is when you buy one you will be supporting the PDGA not just another company.

Use the extra money you save to become a member of the PDGA if you haven't already.

HOWEVER, BE WARNED. IF YOU KICK YOUR REVO BAG REALLY HARD, THE FLAT PIECES OF THE FRAME MAY BREAK/EXPLODE.

Ok I'm gonna go against the grain here and say go Gateway. The tour bag has a huge pocket at each end, 2 bottle holders (each will fit a 32 oz Gatorade bottle), a plastic and PVC frame, scorecard pocket, an internal pocket for minis and small stuff, and 2 putter pockets (one up front and the other on the end w/ no drink holders).

As far as durability goes I've had no problems with mine. I won my first one in the summer of '97 and used it for 6 years as my main bag. I had some stitching start to come loose so I got a new tour bag and am using it as my main bag and have downgraded my old one to a glow bag. The extra space is great because now I have room to carry a 6 pack cooler internally with my glow discs. Cold beer and glow golf, what could be better?

Out of all the bags on the market Gateway and Revolution definitely make the best bags. Gateway's bag is cheaper, that's why I got another instead of going with a Revo bag when I replaced my first Gateway bag. If you are lucky enough where cash isn't an object, get a Revo. If you are like me and want best durability for the money, get a Gateway. It will serve you just as well and save you enough to put a new driver or two in your new bag.

I have a Carolina Team bag so I went out to see if my bag would hold 9 drivers 5 mids and 3 putters. You can do this and have room for 3 more discs or a towel in the main disc pocket. That leaves the side pockets empty for whatever else you want to carrry. Plus you can fit another disc in the back padded pocket that rests on your back :D

I carry 6 mids 5 putters and 5 drivers and i still have room to add more disc in the main compartment if i really wanted too.

I carry 6 mids 5 putters and 5 drivers and i still have room to add more disc in the main compartment if i really wanted too.

CB...Are you preparing for armageddon??? 16 discs???

Which 6 mids?

Which 5 putters?

Which 5 drivers?

That did sound like an ad didn't it? Whoops. Oh well, thats what I carry.

I am in no way sponsored by Gateway, paid by Gateway, or owe Gateway or their affiliates anything. I did play Ozark once and it kicked me squarely in the nuts but its still one of my favorite courses ever. I carry their bag and a few of their discs but was not compensated for this endorsement.

Thanks rodney,
I guess I dont remember you at Ozark.
I take it you traveled with Brad McCoy and camped between Ozark hole 12 and 13?
Maybe I can Talk my grandfather into one more tourney this Spring. Would you come back?

("Place ad below")
We dont really advertise it but we always throw in at least a wizard and maybe another disc as well for free with each bag order. Ask if you can test fly an ELEMENT OR ELEMENT X in the special instructions box, leaving the desired weight.
All we ask is an email report on the flight!

I have the Revolution Club Bag and could not be happier with it. I have been trying to get down to 14 but I generally carry 15 discs. 1 putter in the putter pocket (if you get the Revolution Team Bag you can carry 2 putters in the putter pouch) 2 more putters in the midrange side of the bag, 4 midranges, and 8 drivers. I have room for another driver and sometimes carry 16 discs. That leaves 2 roomy zipper side pockets that could easily carry 4 more discs, but I use one side for a fold-up rain coat and the other side for miscellaneous items like minis, rule book, sharpies, score pads, tape measure, whatever.

Imo, if you buy a Revolution you'll never buy a different brand again. (and you may not need another bag for 10 years or more)

I was at the Ozark tourney in '01 I think. I was with Brad but don't remember what holes we camped in between. Brad came out 2 years in a row. I was in on the first trip. As far as coming back, that was one hell of a long ride but I'd do it again. Those courses are some of my favorite anywhere, right up there with Winthrop. When I heard they were gone I was kinda surprised but I do remember you saying something about them being temporary and that Grandad could pull the plug at any time. If it happens, let me know through here. I'd absolutely love to play those again. Would you still do the $300 Gateway ace again? I got more of your plastic in my bag now so I'd have a better chance at it.

I've noticed that everyone replaces a worn out (insert brand name here) bag with a Rev. However, I don't notice anyone saying that they have replaced a worn out Rev. bag with anything else. I know a guy who has had an original Rev. bag FOREVER. No rips, no busted zippers, still a great bag. I have a club bag and it's great.

OK I might be wrong but judging from the profiles of everyone on here so far Anita, Dave, and myself are the only ones here who have been playing long enough to wear out a disc bag at all. If you have been playing for 2 or 3 years and have already worn your bag out you bought the wrong bag. I do know of one company's disc bag that will wear out that quickly usually around the zipper on the pocket (everyone that I usually play with that has one of these are experiencing the same failure) but it's neither a Gateway or a Revo bag so I'm not going to mention the company.

I definitely think everyone should do everything the pimp recommends tho. I mean he's a walking commercial, can throw 550 ft, and will be happy to tell you all about it anytime. You don't even have to ask.

Best of both worlds

I recently got a Revolution bag and love it! I also have a backpack bag that I have been using since 01. I would suggest you try them out/on b4 buying. I'm a big guy so the backpack bag rides a little high on my back for my liking. I do however use it to carry extra discs, towels, rain geer, shoes and anything I could possible need for a weekend. I also have a tour bag that has been to hell and back and held up nicely. Things I like about the revolution: mombo zippers, rain flap, zipper flap and padded back.
Things I like about the tour bag: two water bottle holders, plenty of room and Dave listens to the feedback on the bags and upgrades the bags often.
Take a good look at both of them and decide what matches your needs best. One thing I learned about both companies is they stand behind the product. Talk nice to Dave Mac and he's good about adding a little something extra!

Tree Klunker, if you have back problems and are not getting a cart, definitely stick with Quadshoks whatever you do. I would not suggest the Gateway backpack. I have never seen a backpack sit correctly. It always looks like a little lean backwards and everything is coming out. I think this will put undue stress on your back. At least with the Quadshoks, you can adjust them to your liking. And the "Shok" part of the straps might just be the best thing for your back.

just got a Carolina Bag the other day. love it. the frame makes it so easy to get discs in and out of the bag. also the putter pocket holds 2 discs perfectly. that was one of my biggest complaints with my old Innova Tour bag was that it warped my 2 putters because the bottom came in so there was only room for one discs at the bottom. the carolina bag the putter pocket holds my 2 putters perfectly and you can get them both out easily.

my only complaint with both bags is the lack of smaller zippered pockets inside the 2 big end pockets.

I've had the Revolution Club bag since late Sept. and love it. I can carry 2 Rhyno's in the front putter pocket, 6 drivers, 7 midrange and putters in the main compartment with room for more, and in the side zipper pockets I carry 3 extra discs, driver, midrange, putter, and use the other side for misc. junk. The water bottle holder is nice but I rarely use it, instead I use the large outer pocket for my Nalgene.

All and all I'm really pleased with it, now I just need to get QuadShocks to get rid of the annoying squek of the strap it came with.

Love my club bag. Had it since early-summer and it has held up real well (play 4-5 rounds a week on avg). I've flown with it too and had no issues. My only beef with it is the water bottle holder only holds my Nalgene brand nalgene bottle, the Eddie Bauer brand ones from target don't fit. Plus a 32oz gatorade bottle won't fit, though the special tall powerade bottles they had for the olympics fit perfectly. However, I have a hard time justifying spending an extra $40-$50 just to fit a certain bottle size. As far as I'm concerned that is the only drawback between the Club and Team bags. Now durability down the road remains to be seen, but I'm not too worried.

Hey-

We do have a brand new REVOLUTION Bag that sits between the CLUB and TEAM Bags. Called the PRO Bag, it features a main body of 1000d Corudra, side pockets of 500D Cordura and a 12oz truck vinyl bottom. Same features as the CLUB Bag with the additon of an insulated 32oz bottle holder to accommodate those large bottomed Gatorade or Nalgene bottles. The PRO also has a wider shoulder strap featuring the same no-slip grippy material as the TEAM shoulder strap.

Price for the PRO Bag is $80 and it comes in four color combinations: Black, Charcoal/Black, Red/Black, and Lake Blue/Black. Should be a great alternative for someone who wants a super-durable lower cost disc golf bag with an internal frame.

They are in stock and can be ordered now through our online shopping cart. Should have pictures in the catalog portion of the site in the next couple hours.

Thanks,

-Dave

Thanks Dave.

I do wish my Club bag was a thicker material and had the truck vinyl. But I do love my bag, I can't justify A new one for quite some time though and from what everyone says its going to be a long time before it wears out. :D:(

I can't wait to see the new bag on the site. I'd be willing to test drive it over the winter and see how it fairs in the Wisconsin Tundra /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

During events and slow play I like to use a stool between shots but I hate carrying one around and I'm always leaving it behind. I heard about the FLW fishing stool from another thread, got one for $16, and I really like it. It'll carry 10-12 discs & its got a separate front pocket for a putter. It has a mesh holder for a small water bottle and is very lightweight. No room for much else but how often do you use all extra crap anyway. Be the envy of your group...go FLW.

I just got a revolution Carolina bag for my birthday and love it. The only complaint I have about it is the drink holders. I would like to see the bottom of the drink holder solid instead of a single 1" strop of fabric. My 20oz water bottles and soda cans fall out the bottom!

Feb 15 2005, 06:54 PM
I have the same problem but it is well worth the trouble. I just had to start buying bigger drinks until I bought a nalgene bottle. My bag is about a year and a half old and it still doesn't have a loose thread on it after plenty of use. I'm sure somebody will jump on here and top that cause I have heard people say there's is five years old and it still looked in good shape.

Feb 15 2005, 10:29 PM
You can stuff a towel in there and nothing will fall out. I would also recomend (sp?) using a coozy for any drink ( gatorade h2o Barley water) the older and cheaper the better(the coozy not the barley water) So glad I have 2 drink holders as I like to drink a lot on the course. TEAM CAROLINA!!!!!!! BTW the opening at the bottom of your drink holder has a pupose, excess suds just drip to mother earth UGGHH!

Feb 15 2005, 11:27 PM
yeah my only complaint with my carolina bag is the open bottom on the drink holders, if it was solid(with a hole or 2 for moisture removal) it would be useful for holding stuff other than drinks. it would also be cool to see some inner pockets in the ends but thats not a biggy

Feb 16 2005, 10:35 AM
I use the Gateway backpack bag, but with Quad shocks instead of the standard straps. I would also recomend the Tour(Gateway) bag for those who like to carry a lot of discs and clothes. The tour bag has more cargo room than any other bag on the market. Now that they have metal D-rings, they are virtually indestructable. :D

Feb 16 2005, 11:17 AM
I've had a Flight Bag since '97 and it is still in fair shape. It was the second to last model. Two of the bottom corners are worn out from the inside frame. Other than that is is good shape.

It has a bottom storage area under the disc frame that is great for a large ziplock bag that I keep 3 extra towels in. This is probably my favorite part of the bag (Revolution - hint, hint ;) )

Does anyone know of a source for these bags?
:)

Feb 16 2005, 03:44 PM
I ended up getting the Gateway Backpack and I love it. The best thing I like about it is the straps on it. I have carried a bag with quad shocks to see how they felt and it did feel comfortable standing. Only problem I have with them is if you get walking at any decent speed you get the bag to start jumping and you start to get pounded in the butt with the bag. Not the best attribute.

Revolution Team Bag. I have the TE Team and the only thing I don't like is that small bottles(20oz) can slip through the bottle holder and fall out. I've had it for a year and I play a ton, yet there is no wear on it at all. Definitely worth the money as long as you play a decent amount.

I'm looking into buying a Discraft Tournament bag. Does anybody have any comments about them?

I don't like carrying a ton of stuff, and I'm looking to replace my Wall City Mega Cube. I carry 12 discs and not a whole bunch of other stuff. I love the Mega Cube and I'm bummed that Wall City is not making DG bags anymore. (So much for the ole lifetime warranty.)

For those interested here are the specs on the Discraft Tournament bag:
This bag has one less outer pocket making it easier to carry around during grueling tournament rounds. However, we lightened it without sacrificing storage space. This bag has plenty of room for all the extras you need during any tournament round.
-holds 8-12 discs
-2 internal dividers
-Extra Pocket
-Putter Pocket
-Score Card Pocket
-Padded Shoulder Strap
-Bottle Holder
$40, at GottaGoGottaThrow

Any comments? I've never seen one or heard them discussed.

If you plan on using Quadshoks, you really should try to get a bag that has two pockets. That way you can mount the straps in the preferred way using the pull tab loops found near the zippers of most pockets.
Other than that I stil have my Discraft (deluxe or Tourney) bag. It's my "local course" bag. No need to carry a bunch of drivers or back-up discs when you're playing J-town.
I've also seen great values in Wal-Mart soft-style tackle bags, check them out.

I liked the bag and found it very comfortable. I looked at the discraft bag you mentioned, and I think that the Innova Deluxe is a better bag. You can get it for $40 at www.charisdiscs.com (http://www.charisdiscs.com) or on gotta go for just 5 more bucks. I know at charis if you spend over 69 bucks there is no shipping costs. My Discraft bag has held up for over 3 years. That rubber stuff on the bottom is the key. It's also the perfect size. Large enough for the essentials, and small enough that you won't overload it. I did finally wear the strap out, but that was expected.

The Innova bag is cheaply made and falls apart easily. Those little tabs to hook in quadshox break about once a round. Glad I switched to Revolution b/c this bag will not fall apart after only a few weeks. What about their mini bag, its my next bag purchase fo sho. Some courses just dont require 15-20 discs, and it seems a great alternative.

What exactly is wrong with carrying a bag that you don't recommend Mills? You've been playing for what now, about 2 years?

This will be the one and only bag you will ever have to buy

This comes from your many years of disc golf experience of course.

If you spend the 150 right from the start and get the Carolina Team bag with quadshocks you wont EVER have to worry about a bag again.

This too of course. But you of course have tried every bag out there and in your long 2 years of disc golf experience have found this one to be the most durable.

I have carried 3 or 4 different bag before my Revolution

So you've had a Revo for what, about a year now? God I hope you haven't had any problems with your $150 bag in that amount of time. What bags from different manufacturers did you carry before that? Please be specific. I'd love to benefit from your "wealth" of disc golf experience.

I didnt say there was anything wrong with carrying a bag that I dont recommend. Did I every once say that??? I just said that Revolution makes the best bag on the market.

This comes from your many years of disc golf experience of course.

Ive been playing for 2 years and in those 2 years i have gone threw 3 other bags. They have ripped and torn and been complete pieces of crap. Also during those 2 years particularly last year i have made friends with alot of pros and have spoken to many many different people about the durability or bags and have found that most of the pros prefer the REVOLUTION bag to any other bag on the market. I also have friends who have had their Revolution bags for over 5 years without a single problem. I have talked to them and talked to kids parents who have bought them multiple bags and they have also said the REVOLUTION was the best bag because it has held up the longest and been the most durable. So therfore in my 2 years of golfing expierience i have aquired the knowledge to talk on the subject.

This too of course. But you of course have tried every bag out there and in your long 2 years of disc golf experience have found this one to be the most durable.

Actually i have found this to be the best and most durable bag that I have carried. It also have the most room and the best frame and is the most comfortable to carry because of the padded back and how you can hook your quads up to it.

So you've had a Revo for what, about a year now? God I hope you haven't had any problems with your $150 bag in that amount of time. What bags from different manufacturers did you carry before that? Please be specific. I'd love to benefit from your "wealth" of disc golf experience.

Oh dont worry i havent had any problems with my 115 dollar disc golf bag. Its only 150 with the quadshocks and i didnt get mine with the quads. Also if you know anything about the Carolina Team bag you would know that it hasnt even been out for a year so it would be impossible for me to have been carrying it for a year. I have carried 2 Innova Disc golf bags which were both GARBAGE. First i have the small Innova bag which held about 10 discs and that bag fell apart in about 3 months. It started ripping at the shoulder strap seam and the bottom started fraying and ripping out and that inside of the bag started to fray and rip from taking the discs in and out of it. That bag also had NO ROOM to putt ANYTHING but discs. Then I carried a Gateway bag for a couple weeks and found that the frame of the bag just wasnt tought or stiff enough for what I liked. It did have alot of room for stuff but just wasnt a very sturdy or structualy sound bag (sp?) Then I paid 70 dollars the the Innova Tour bag which was a little better then the others. Great storage and pocket space. Great water bottle holder. My quads fit really well on this bag and it it had a great main pocket for discs although it to wasnt very structually sound untill i put a home made frame in it that i bought from Todd Branch at a tournament in Ludington. Then this bag became my favorite for about the next 2 months untill the seems on the pockets started to again FRAY and rip out like a cheap piece of CRAP. So then I said to myself "Alrigth Steve you have already Spend over 150 dollars on CRAP bags and EVERYONE has been telling you how durable and roomy and great the Revolution bags are so why dont you just spend the 110 and get the best bag on the market" So I went ahead and bought the Carolina Team bag from Revolution and i havent been happier. The bag comes with an AWESOME frame already in it. It has 2 great big pockets on both sides that you can fit either more discs or a TON of extra stuff in. It has 2 count them 2 Nalgene size water bottle holders on it which is perfect for those longs days in the hot sun where you NEED to carry alot of water for health reasons or its perfect for those nice days when you want to carry water and a 40 or water and a mixed drink in your othere Nalgene. The bottom is 2 layers of Truck Vinyl which i have yet to see take any where in the 7 Months that I have had the bag. Of did i mention that no watter seeps threw this truck Vinyl??? Yeah i havent reached into my bag when it was wet on the ground a pulled out a disc that i had to towel off before i threw it. I used to have to do that ALL THE TIME with the Innova tour bag when it got set in the snow or on wet ground. Then it has the RAIN FLAP on it that not only covers the MAIN compartment but it covers your PUTTERS as well which in my opinion is the most important disc to keep dry. Sure the Innova bag had a flap i could close when it was raining but then the putter pocket was still out there for the rain to soak. Wait i forgot to mention that the Revolution bag has a zipper pocket on the putter pocket which is perfect for either a Mini or your Credit cards or PDGA card or whatever else you want to put in there. Pencils, chapstick, lighters, matches whatever. Did i also mention that its made out of the toughest material of any bag on the market. 1200 Cordura on the inside where the discs sit and 1000 Cordura on the outside where the pockets and water bottle holders are. Imagine that. Someone put tougher material at a location on the bag that sees the most use and has discs hitting it and being shoved into it and pulled out of it and thrown at it and putters being pulled out of the putter pocket on EVERY single hole. Then lets talk about the heavy duty zippers that REVOLUTION is using. These zippers are leaps and bounds better then the crappy little zippers that Innova and Gateway and Discraft are using. Did i tell you i had to fix the zipper on my Innova bag after 2 weeks of using it. Then after i fixed in the first time it came completely apart and could not be fixed. So i had to just leave my pocket open to the elements no matter what it was doing outside while i was playing. Did i mention that all this crap happend to my Innova bags in UNDER 6 months and i have had my Revolution for 7 and have NO SIGNS OF WEAR, NONE WHATSOEVER, It looks just like it did the day i bought it. Well its a little more dirty then that day but if i cleaned it up it would look brand new. Cleaning up my other bags after 7 months would have done nothing but make then a CLEAN piece of *****.

Hey Rodney one last thing. What kind of bag do YOU carry??? I sure hope its not a Revolution cuz i mean you wouldnt want to be caught dead carrying something that DiscPimp reccomends.

Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day.

Pimp, you are right! I know I just lost my stars for agreeing with you, but when I was going to buy my first bag a good friend told me to "save yourself some money and get a Revo. bag" I wish I would've listened, b/c I WASTED 40$ on that other bag. Sorry, but Innova makes THE BEST DISCS, but stick to what you're already great at. I love my Carolina Team Bag and will never buy another brand again!

I voted for the backpack bag but hopefully I won't need $200 to get it. :D:D

Feb 22 2005, 11:31 AM
I would get the revo mini bag and fill It with CE with my 160$ left over.

Feb 22 2005, 11:32 AM
I don't think any of these bags cost 200, even with Quads and a couple new discs...

maybe I'd skip buying the new bag and buy an 01 CE Roc instead :D

Feb 22 2005, 02:05 PM
I'd but the Gateway tour bag, and have 100 left over for an Ipod shuffle to go in it!!! :D;)

Revolution Carolina Bag. Revolution makes the best bags available. The Texas bag is over-the-top -- why would i want to lug 64 ounces of water around? Isn't that about 4 pounds?

Texas is hot, but 32 ounces is plenty if you are in shape. Refill between rounds if you must :D

The only thing I don't like about my Revolution Carolina Bag is it is named after a particular state (another reason I don't care for the 'Texas' bag ) Why make 47 out of 50 state residents feel underrepresented? I'd change the names to something less provincial...

Well, I actually live and play in Texas and I will tell you that 64 ounces is about right for the summer time. You gotta have more than 32 ounces for sure.

I've had my Carolina Edition Bag since Xmas. I will never have any other bag than a Revolution. I wasted more money than the cost of the bag trying to find a similar bag for a cheaper price. Went through three of them.

End result, there is no better bag than a Revolution. Quality costs a little more and lasts a lot longer.

Feb 22 2005, 02:51 PM
I think you could buy a Revolution Carolina bag, some quad shocks, and a Revolution mini bag for that much. That's what I would get.

I didnt say you had to spend all 200 i said if you had 200 dollar to buy a bag which bag would you buy??? No i would buy this bag and this and then 7 other bags. If you had 200 to spend on 1 bag which bag would you buy. Its looking like alot of people would by the Revolution. The only people i see wanting gateway bags are people who are sponsored by Gateway.

Feb 22 2005, 03:27 PM
If I had 200 dollars believe me, I would have to spend it all. :D But yea, the carolina bag with quads then.

Feb 22 2005, 03:37 PM

I picked the Gateway Backpack bag and I'm not sponsored. I like the idea of having more space than the Revolution (I frequently need to carry extras for friends who tag along but don't have their own discs and like to carry extra discs to try out on the course) and I like how it grants access to the discs better. The fact that it comes with dual straps and is less expensive than the Revolution bags sealed the deal.

I'm not sure what everyone does to make their bags fall apart, but I have an Innova Standard bag with the "Diamond" material that I used for 6 months last summer and it's been holding up great. It still makes a great bag for when I just need a few discs.

Feb 22 2005, 03:37 PM
The Revolution Disc Golf Bag is the best disc golf bag EVER made!

Feb 22 2005, 03:50 PM
i use a wall city bag with some double straps i got from gateway that turned into a really nice set up, but the revolution bags are the shi-at when it comes to durability and style. :D

Started w/ a Wall City mega cube(wish they still made them, have had a couple gateway bags, a lightning bag a couple different generic bags, but I love my PDGA tour bag w/ quad shoks. I would buy this set if anything happened to the one I am using.

Are you being serious about this??? You can carry 27 discs in the Carolina Team bag. 18 in the center Compartment 4 in each pocket 2 in the putter pocket and 1 in the back pocket. Do you really carry more then 27 discs when you play??? Even if you are carring for 2 people you shouldnt need 27 discs. I will give you that you maybe be able to access your discs better but there is also alot more CRAP that can snag and rip and get caught on things on the Gateway back pack bag and i have tried one on and they arent nearly as comfy as a Revolution with Quads and that straps are nearly as comfy as quads.

I have a Revolution Mini that I use everyday, and a Carolina for road trips, and a pair of Quads that I use on both. Thank God I have a good job so I don't have to whine about the cost. Wish everyone were so fortunate. But since the question is what would you do with $200 bucks ... I would get what I've got.

I'm guessing if KY had as many courses as Texas or as many great golfers as Carolina then they would come up with a KY bag. Could even add an extra pocket for your lubricating jeely. :D:D:D:D

I disagree that the only people that want gateway bags are the sponsored players. I always have used gateway bags and there are more people using gateway bags in TX than any other. I have always wanted a backpack bag even before I started throwing thier discs. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

So your whole point of this thread was to flame people who have a different opinioin than yourself? Why can't I prefer a different bag? I know you want to suck up to all the vendors you like to try and get sponsored, but alienating other disc golfers won't help you out in that respect.

Just because I think the Gateway bag is good doesn't mean I think the Revolution bag is bad. The site lists the the capactiy of the Revolution bags as 12-14 discs. I'm not going to jam 27 discs into a bag that's designed to hold 14. I have a hard time beliving that 27 discs will fit into one of those anyway, especally if you want to store other stuff in there as well. I also like that there is room above the discs to store disc golf related items while I'm not playing. It's convienent for me to be able to zip my shoes up in my bag when I'm not playing. I haven't had any trouble with stuff on my bag snagging on anything. It's obviously higher quality and more comfortable than other, non disc golf backpacks I've used in the past that have carried more weight than my disc golf bag and that have gotten more use without falling apart. I have an LL Bean backpack that's lower quality and stood up for four years of high school, including a week long band tour of Russia and 5 years of engineering school where I carried single books that weighed more than all the discs I carry. For the way I use my bag (recreational player, perhaps the occassional tournament) why would I pay for even more durability that I'll never use?

I don't doubt that the Revolution bags are high quality and the only thing I said that was negative about them was the price. If you didn't want people to participate in this poll and justify their responses you shouldn't have started it. You do have to learn that there is the possibility that others may have a different opinion than yours and that doesn't necessarily make them "wrong."

Wisconsin Team Bag should be next 70 + courses and last I heard quite a few good disc golfers from our state as well I even have some discs with a WI DGr's sig on it. :) :)
I may even stop using Revolution Bags if they had a Michigan Team Bag especially if it was blue and gold

I didnt say your opinion was wrong I was just pointing out the fact that i own a Carolina Team bag and just last night i put 24 discs in it and the side pockets still have room for stuff to get in them and i didnt have to CRAM them in there. I didnt say that you were wrong i was just pointing out the fact that the Carolina Team bag can hold quite alot of discs and has quite alot of room in it. You can like whatever bag you want Im just trying to save people money in the long run so they dont do what i did and spend almost 200 dollars on bag before spending the 120 on a Revolution. If I would have known about Revolution when i first started and had people tell me about how great the bags they made were then i could have saved 200 dollars and a whole ton of frustation and hassle with all the CRAP bags that i bought. Im not saying your wrong i was just telling you you can fit alot of discs in the bag i have as well.

By the way if i was trying to get sponsored i would be writing letters to REVOLUTION and not posting on here. If i was trying to get sponsored then i would CALL Revolution I wouldnt be posting it on here. I love how just because one of my goals this year is to get sponsored people think that any time i say anything im just trying to get sponsored. I find stuff i like and promote it because i like it and i think its the best NOT because i want to get sponsored. Sorry i have an opinion and when i find quality stuff I put the name out there so that other people can enjoy the product as well. You guys need to take it easy and stop thinking that every time i say something im attacking you or saying your wrong.

By the way........Revolution makes the best bags on the PLANET :D

If I had 200 bucks I would buy the Gateway Backpack. I just bought one in early December and I love it. First of all you got an extra 50 bucks to spend on discs and other stuff if you get it over the Rev bag w/ quads. Plus Dave is known to throw in a disc or 2 with so you get another bit of a discount there to. I love the bag I have and wouldn't trade it for the world. For anyone who is considering a bag I would highly recommend the Gateway Backpack. Its a great dual strap feel without the bag bouncing off your lower back or butt. :D:p

Yeah and in this version its not how many shots it took to complete, but how many beers you got done between tee and green. And on the scorecard you get a multiplier bonus of 18 for finishing or whichever hole you pass out on.

Feb 23 2005, 01:50 AM
Oh, and as scorekeeper... you are responsible for remembering everyone's name and making sure that when we get really drunk and stupid that we know our own names. Also you will be the secretary for all incoming phone calls from girlfriends/wives after we all are wasted and have to be creative as to why we haven't made it home yet. Think you DG game is ready for such an intense level of skill requirement?

You know I got the way to turn it into a great drinking game. Mini-drinking-disc-golf. You find a "tee" area and have to chug a beer... now stand on the can and have someone flick the side (very cool way to crush it)... now you find the nearest trash can and play mini golf with your beer can til its in the garbage. Repeat with as many beers as you have. No drinking during a hole, you have to hole out and find a new tee spot.

Feb 23 2005, 01:57 AM
sounds interesting :D
