Hey, it's non-sanctioned and I'm sure Gumby or anybody else is really not going to mind if you play Am as long as I'm your partner. We could terrorize any card we were on and as far as finishing goes, who cares? It's no different the you paying big bucks for your kid to go to college only to see him drop out after one year and go work for Micky-D's.

Finishing is not as important as just knowing that you could have. Someday when the grim reaper comes calling we are all going to leave alot of things un-finished.

I'm sure Duff will have our team as a 10-1 underdog just to finish so we could always put down $20 each just in case.:D

In non sanctioned the general rule of thumb is if you have accepted cash as a pro you play pro. In doubles that goes for either partner. If the Billy, Don, Matt, hutches of the world play Adv. I can promise ya Coda I will follow there lead. It's up to them what division we will play in.

Any thoughts of alternate courses if we get to much rain?

Saying it early so it won't happen.

i thing the only two courses that offer the same challenge without driving to Pawhuska are Copperhead and Hunter. Maybe Haikey but I haven't played it but twice and I cant really remember alot about it.

After the first day of the spring fling I was in first in grand masters, and oh yeah, I would have been in first in advanced masters too.

Sunday I moved up to adv masters and won third, beat by Stacey and Gumby who were on insane Chandler rolls..

was liking the Lumberjacks as a team name but without Blackhawk it doesn't seem as fitting. Maybe we should roll with Dynamic Duo. Things just got alot more even for all teams involved. Should be verrrrry interesting....

that is a good decision.
the course at blackhawk is more than likly not an enjoyable route with added moisture.
as we played there this weekend there is already areas that were not traversable due to standing muck.
and the red hawk course has at least 3 holes that suck after rain.

mcclure right after heavy rain is no peach either, especially when the creek is up even with the rocks. makes holes 2 and 8 play a lot differently.

The creek at McClure shouldn't be too big an issue no matter what. It's warm enough now that if you see it go in you can go in after. With or without clothes alas DP ! I am loving the format for these courses. The Colonel and Perch are definetly going to have to watch their ARSE. Hate to say it Slim but you can fall in line as well....:)

epic weak :P who really wants to drop a bill on a contest of mclure and boring devillio TWICE lol can we at least do like mclure golds? ive never got to play those , that sounds enticingly hard, taking off the best course and replacing it with two "eh" courses sounds bleh, i mean even a 36 down fest at the mountain sounds better than devillio twice :P tbh though id rather play a few holes in the hawk muck than play any other courses

It is the TD's decision to have it where they choose. I'm still looking forward to it and will be there.

hehe, its not the desire to play in the muck dog, its just the idea of those 4 courses brings in about every disc golf element except big elevation, taking black and red out reduce it to not so challenging, i mean lets be honest, redhawk is made for 6-6-6 lol and black is still super challenging as best shot. but i hear ya wise, gumby prolly made this call based off of a desire to not hear any ******** on saturday about how ppl lost because of the mud. or lost their disc in the nasty, understandable, but still depressing to say the least.

I made the best decision I could for everyone entering, not just the ones who like the hawks. I know alot of people like to play there but I also know with the rain there are alot who would rather not play in that condition. I am sure I will not make everyone happy so I just have to deal with the few complaints and have a good tourny anyway. Hope everyone comes out and has a good time and enjoys playing this weekend.

I think it is a good decision. You have to take into account all divisions, not just the Advanced and Pro players.

Black Hawk is a problem. Until we find a way to deal with the water the course isn't going to be used as much as it should be.

I know I personally cringe everytime I try to run an event there. You never know when the day before a tournament a big rain is going to hit.


At least John had time to make the change. Agree that not everyone will be happy, but you have to look at what is best for most of the players.

Once Haikey is fully back, that opens up our southside Hunter/Haikey option which is solid.

Until we or the city clear out the creeks and ditches from the debris left from the ice storm, the water will continue to be an issue.

The problem with playing a night round with you before is you cant finish the round before daylight... Guess you could just camp at mcclure..

Face it. "Ultimate" would sell better and has a better chance of making ESPN than you ever will. :eek:

Ultimate WILL make it before disc golf. Its a team sport that has become huge in college. It provides a venue that is easier to cover and with dozens and dozens of college teams out there, spnsorship will be easier to come by also.

Disc golf will not be on ESPN in my lifetime, unless its on ESPN8 the "ocho".

considering ball golf has been around for centuries and a good majority of people in todays society still think it is boring to watch on TV, I think disc golf just needs a lot more exposure that will only come with time. slowly more people are finding out what disc golf is, but it is very slow. most people havent even heard of it still.

I was out at hunter park throwing hole 17 after work last friday (for about 20 min :( cry) and this guy comes walking out of the fenced in dog area, follows the fence line walking toward the bench and pond area, and just starts picking up my discs and throwing them into the dog park, while his dog is sitting there mouthing one of my destroyers. zach lund happend to be out there and he ran over and asked the guy what the hell he was doing throwing other peoples stuff over the fence, and he was like "what? disc golf?" zach explained to him that we were throwing at the basket (no more than 70 feet from the dog park entrance) and he was like "basket? what basket?".....

people are just clueless, even when it is right in their face. so until there is any kind of awareness that the sport even exists, there won't be enough people who know about it to even have enough people that like it. it will inevitably get bigger, but it will take quite a while. I'd love to see it on espn and so would others, but it won't be on there for a while because its not popular enough for it to be profitable for them. so we just wait and promote the sport to new people as much as we can.

Well I'm sorry but IMO it will never gain a televised popularity unless DG can…..

1. Be televised on a real ball golf course. No camera crew is going to want to set up a bunch of cameras in the woods at Mohawk. Ball golf in itself can be boring to watch but the course its self is beautiful to see. I wish my lawn looked like that. And considering it's normally a country club where only the rich and elite can play the general public might be more enticed to watch. Considering the wide open fairways on a most normal BG courses you better add a lot of OB or something to offer risk and reward because throwing a disc into "the heavy rough" doesn't even compare to the hazard on planting a golf ball there.

2. Lose the stoner image. Unfortunately I don't think this will EVER happen. It doesn’t matter whether you partake or you don’t. It’s there for life. If some stranger from out of town asked me where they can get hooked up I would tell them go hang out at a DG course. It’s funny but the stereotype just seems to fit the sport. You can’t even compare other sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX, and X-games to DG and the stereotype that comes with it.

The only DG event I believe deserves to be televised on ESPN would be the USDGC since it's held at the same place every year and appears to have legite respectability as the showcase of the sport. That would be the only one I personally would ever want to watch.

Thats why i haven't been out there in almost a year. I had esp limeted Run drone that got torn to shreds and the owner of the dog basically laughed at me after telling me disc golf was for losers. I was on hole 17 walking to my disc when his dog grabbed my disc and the owner and the dog went into the park.

very true... it is great to see some juniors consistently playing tournaments and getting better... they are so lucky to get in young! a whole life of disc!!! awesome.
