… also , for those Players who brave the winter-elements between now-and-the Ice-Bowl-date to enter into “Flights” Doubles Events (Friday-Nite- ; Wednesday-Nite- ; High-Noon- ) : I’ve got a little extra ‘spiff’ working for those cats ‘n’ kitties … for every time they enter , their name will be entered into a Drawing … there will be something-like 6 to 8 of these “Flights” between now and Jan.23 … and we’re almost bound to hit into some less-than-pleasant weather … but , nothin’ we haven’t played in before … that Drawing will be at The Tulsa Ice Bowl (Jan.23) and will feature 10 (ten) ‘cherry’ Discs (including 3 of the pure CE strain) … soon , we’ll show some pics of these … some Players will obviously have their name in the hopper multiple times … and you know what ? : I’ll let them be “multiple winners” if they are drawn more than once … presently, there are 10 players who’ve got their names in (from last Friday, Nov.6) …
.
… just another ‘bonus’ for the Players … cool … Enjoy …

Well I wasn't sure that "actually playing the events" was required because when I talked to Wise one night he told me he was driving down there to give you entry money but that he was not playing. :(

So based on what he did and I guess those that are in the know, .... one could have paid you $8 up front in the beginning for all the events but not be required to play and still get their names in the hat.

Well I'm not accusing anyone of any "skull-dugery" but on the TDSA website it states...

for those Players who brave the winter elements between now-and-the-Ice-
Bowl-date to enter and compete into Flights Doubles Events, Ive got a little extra "spiff" working
for those cats n kitties:

Key words are brave the winter elementsand compete.

If Wise just shows up, hands over money, and then leaves then those key words should eliminate his name from going in the hat.

Key the song.....How long....has this been going on.

It will be at the ice bowl. And when are you going to figure out that your opinion in here doesn't mean crap?

And I played, I paid, got out and threw a disc, then quit. I drove 20 miles for that privilage. I just can't play the whole thing on poker night. When it was in Owasso, I was out in the 20 degree night air but that was on a Friday.:p

Paul, as you begin embarking on your career, you will soon find out in the real world, that you can buy you're way into or out of about anything. Examples :Obama, USDGC, OJ (the first time), Cam Todd.....ect. And as a fundraiser, why should you care? The more money raised the better for the charity.;)

I love seeing how the young guys think they have it all under control and figured out.

What a bunch of BULL-SONKA!!!!

I can see it now. You pull up. Pay Wayne and go back and sit in your warm car, then get out for a full 2 minutes to throw a disc and then quit.

I could have come down there, stood outside and took a "p" that lasted longer than the time you spent braving the elements.

Your involvement just tainted the whole deal because if you win anything then you deserve a big fat...

You'd think you could drive 3 blocks to help a charity out but NOOOooooooooooo, that would take away from your ME time.

I don't care what you say, your actions have thrown a shadow upon the integrity of the Nite Flight lotto and you talking about buying your way into anything discredits the others who stuck it out till the end and lends itself to talk of a conspiracy. :(

I guess you thought that since Wayne never posts specific player results of the Nite Flights nobody would know right?

You are the Olof of Disc Golf and for someone that hates Obama so much you sure don't have a problem following in his footsteps.

John Green warned me about these "Grandfather" deals.

Would anyone have known about this if it weren't for Furdog, the Disc Golf Crime Detective?.....I doubt it.

Dirty dealings done dirt cheap and always happening in dark parking lots and behind closed mini-van doors. The crooks commit the crimes and the TD's pardon them. No one ever goes to jail because the vandals stole the handles and justice is not only blind but she has sold out to the ways of "The Beaver" also.

i havent laughed this hard in a long time.

it gave me an idea: chandlerstock should have a FurDog v Wise pillowfight as the saturday night main attraction. extra $10 to see the fight, proceeds go to fund the OO, free beer, whatever. three rounds, two manly men, two pillows. i'd pay to see it.

Looks like someone doesn't like living in america where competition and free markets are the way business is done. I bet the mace man could sell discs for 30 bux a pop in north korea, probably be the sole distributor too! I hear its nice weather there year round...

Not gonna get hyped up about something I don't care much about but I will say, there are a couple good things said in this article, in the midst of a lot of other crap about good business models etc. Slamming DD is rediculous though, how someone can give away so much stuff at a tournament and create the best tournament experience and continue to do this time and time again and make profit and grow tournaments and deserve this much ridicule. I don't know his list of achievements, but I know Mace has done a LOT for this sport, I also think rusco will end up doing a lot for the sport in the long run, I think its just a different plan and he seems a little bitter about it.

that would be my initial response too, but it seems the powers that be always end up having some kind of explanation, be it logical or not. so I will wait to see whats up. theres nothing really wrong with chandler, I especially like the new course out there, so I'm glad the ice bowl is utilizing both courses. Like I said before, it is probably a parking issue. I wonder if they ever have plans for expanding their parking out there?

Parking does suck at the river. but I agree the ice bowl needs riverside back.
another question is which chandler course do we play first, or does the player just pick. and how do you stop someone from playing the same course twice?

Chandler Park has plenty of places to park, 2 courses for crowds and is still close enough to Tulsa to receive full media coverage.

On that note please rag on Poplin at KTBZ 1430 the buzz as he continues to smear all disc golfers as dope smoking drug addicts.

some one tried to get some press coverage for the Ice Bowl the other day and he spent 5 minutes raging on the players saying we were just trying to collect food to feed the munchies from smoking weed!

It is hard to get good press with his mouth going on the sports radio station!

dont mean to stir the pot, but i seem to be kind of good at that.

when i first started discin, the ice bowl was at riverside... last year it was at chandler because river was out of commission, but what is going on this year? Is it the same parking issue? Just curious.

That's because CHANDLER PARK RULZ baby and the 180 player turnout last year is proof that living in the woods at Chandler Park is a lot better than living in a van down by the river!!!!:D

I realize it must be convenient for you guys to just wake up, slide open your door and step out on the course but how dare you question The Waynester on his event and the manner in which he chooses to provide it.

If you guys would go out and get REAL JOBS then you wouldn't have to depend on the toothless female hobos at the River for Friday night dates. :p

ROCK ON WAYNE'STER!!!

makes sense martin, if we still get media coverage and we get more people to sign up and help the charity then I'm all for it. I was just wondering why it moved.

furpussy, if I were concerned about how far I was driving to go to the ice bowl, do you think I would have driven to fayetteville for their ice bowl? I was asking a simple question with no implications, and here you go again with blowing stuff out of proportion. I do have some understanding though, you cant help but post paragraph after paragraph of useless information because thats all that is available in the space between your ears. the only good thing you said was "Rock on Wayne'ster!!!" wayne is my hero.

Does anyone have predictions for what wins open this year? One round on both of those courses with one mulligan per hole, im going to say -28 is the winning score.

Well Paul when you start off your post with "dont mean to stir the pot, but i seem to be kind of good at that" I can't help but want to add a few "over the top" veggies to your stew.:D

I guess if you had played last year you would have remembered the 180 people and the approx 9-10 people per card on the last round.

I'm sure Wayne would have gone back to Riverside this year had he had the normal 90 or so and under attendance last year. I believe in 2008 he set a record of approx 120 or so but last years 180 at Chandler beat all and brought out about 60 more happy people.

Now with two courses, when you think about it, even a cave man could figure that out. It's probably not something they would teach you in accounting school though. BTW, if you plan on doing your own taxes you might want to run them by H&R Block before you send them in.:p

We all go sometime Paul. What really sucks is guys like me sometime, out live guys like you.

You'll get your CPA, then start dating(we hope), then she'll talk you into marriage, the house, kids and well..........thats all she wrote!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then you'll get comfortable and put on 50lbs over the next 10 years. Until she divorces you, takes the kids and half of your ASSetts! By that time, you'll realize Ol FurDog and me weren't that bad and you'll wish we were still around.

I guess a better revenge for you would be to name you as one of my paul bearers.

Dave, I believe in Paul's case the future could read something like this....

You'll cheat on your CPA, then start communicating online with some 900 number "blind fattie" from the Ukraine(we hope), then you'll pay her way to America and she talk you into marriage, the trailor home, kids and well..........thats all she wrote!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then you'll get comfortable and put on 75lbs over the next five years. Until she cheats on you, takes half of your ASSetts and you find out the kids aren't really yours!

I believe the casket photo is in bad taste because we all know that when Dave goes he is going to be stuffed and mounted in a bronze memorial statue at Centennial.:o

Why would you bury someone like Dave knowing that every dog, cat, and coyote from miles around would come and try to dig him up.

Well I listen to the Buzz on the way home and poor MC got SLAUGHTERED last night, about 5:30. I guess he wrote an email that Pop took the wrong way. I don't think it helped that he had a near death experience the day before at KBEZ. By the way, let that be a lesson to you kids, nothing good ever comes from an easy listening station.

Anyway, I am sure MC meant well but Pop didn't take it well. Seriously, his tirade went on for 5 minutes. He did agree to donate $12.00 to the Ice Bowl so all is not lost.

I encourage all of you to try and build a bridge with this guy. We need more good press and an all sports station would be a nice addition to our media coverage..

Plank seems to be all in, just need to get Pop singing a different note.

I don't understand why you guys even listen to this radio station. The fact that Hinds knows these guys personally should be enough to tell you that they are overpaid losers with a microphone.

I don't know what Connors said in his email but so what if he might have threatened to kick the guys butt.

In the words of Clint Eastwood,..."We all have it coming kid."...."That guy should have armed himself if he's going to decorate the front of his saloon with my friend".

Disc Golf does have a lot of smokers and whether you think you're a saint or a sinner we all make the choice to board this DG ship so we should shouldn't complain just because we take a torpedo or two.

"We-bles wobble but we don't fall down."

Bikers suffer the same public sterotype but that doesn't keep them from delivering Christmas presents.

While it may all be well and good that there are disc golfers who use herbal enhancement while playing the comment that he made that we were just collecting the food so we could feed our munchies and that we would not be making a delivery of food the the food bank hacked me off!
I sent a complaint to Plank at the station and if I hear any more of that stuff I may try and find some one higher at Clear Channel to complain to.
I know that he thought he was being funny but we are talking about doing charity work for the good of those who need the help and he should have saved his dope tirade for one of our regular events and not smeared the good name of our Ice Bowl or any of the others taking place across the country.

Here u go fellas. After re-reading this I guess I was pretty hard on him.

Poplin:

The other day a person contacted your show to drop a plug on the upcoming Ice Bowl. The Ice Bowl is a local disc golf tournament which benefits feeding the hungry and raising money for underprivileged families. Rather than respecting this effort we put together every year you decided to be the typical sarcastic smart a** you strive to be. Stereotyping all disc golfers as pot smokers is selfish on your part. Honestly I normally get a kick out of your jabs at pot smoking disc golfers, but this really is a good benefit and the only thing you know to do is be an a**hole about it. Last year we raised a few thousand dollars along with hundreds of pounds of food all of which went to needy families. Is there something wrong with a caller telling your listeners about this event?

You disagree with people just for the he!! of it. Your opinions on issues change from day to day just so you can disagree with a caller you don't like. You must think your sh** smells like roses. You are starting to remind me of Ryan Rahal.

With the experience you had yesterday you should consider being a better person. The only people you respect are sports figures. Reality check Pop, life does not revolve around sports. Talking about sports on the radio does not make you better than everyone else.

Have a nice evening.

Mike

He read your email verbatim on the show. Stopping everynow and then to complain about what you wrote.

Whether he is joking or not he really needs to stop the comments. We are a large, respectable, generous local sports group and we deserve support from the media in Tulsa.

This is disapointing. Every year my youngest son (on his own) has went door to door and collected houndreds of pounds of food for charity. Is he doing to "feed the munchies" .. I don't think so. He does this because he knows its the right thing to do at the right time of year to do it. I say, we all donate as much as possible this year and get those numbers posted. That is the only way the community can call BS on him and his show.

"comming from a non-smoker" :)

You cant really argue that golf is a weed sport though :P a large percentage smoke, i mean weed is honestly the reason you dont see worlds on ESPN, would be bad grace to catch coda, climo, and felberg hittin the blunt in the bushes between rounds on camera :P mean hell look at furdog, ive never even seen the guy smoke, but i still think he does :P even if he does decline the pass :)

I think the only way your going to shut this guys mouth is to let it go, and keep bustin *** to make money for charity, let the dollar amount at the end say all that needs to be said :) you just gotta figure that most people already comprehend that this guy is a douch and so take everything he says lightly, if this event is going to have media coverage like ive been hearing, then we already got counter press on the way right? :) i dunno bout yall but he made up my mind to donate extra just to shut him the **** up :)

I think we should just litter his car with tdsa sticker and gear, sticker the all the windows on the whole car with disc golf stickers. Just let him know we are out in force !!!

Of course this is only one idea, and doesn't resolve any issues but it would be hilarious, maybe even wait with a group of about ten for him after work just to change his mind. Non violent of course. He has always known since I have met him that i am a DG'er and never said a word too me. Chances are he is just trying too be funny and took it too far.

Some action needs to be taken !!!! Like i said earlier, Kevin Ward at the sports animal is always looking for events to prop on his show on 97.1 in the mornings. If they talk about croquet then they'll talk about disc golf. I have done it !

Since Wayne is busy I've even got my own trophy to award myself for my stellar play on the battle field.:D

wise please play him, this would be an epic beatdown

Hinds, you may have just really stepped in it this time. I like the fact that you will have lots of money up for grabs once your tax check comes in.

Tell you what, why take all the time and hassel to cash that nasty government check, Just play for it and after, you can sign it over to me.

I do have to comment though about waiting two to three weeks.......you started all this for a donation to the ice bowl. Now you want to wait a few weeks.:( This does nothing for the children that need your money. Can they wait two weeks for a meal?

Since your practice is on Tuesday and Thursday, then this Wed should be just fine. Waiting a few weeks so that you can play 50 practice rounds isn't going to help you but I'll give you a hint.....just practice the first 11 holes. That way it will be easier for you to cross the creek and head to the car while the gallery isn't looking.

But I will tell you now, that if you want a rematch, the 2nd time around will be a $100.

Wednesday at 4:00pm Hinds?

See Dorries, just hang around till masters age and the young ones will throw money at you.:D

Don't worry about it Hinds. Take the three stokes and with me in the gallery calling "dollar" Wise is certain to choke as he always does when he has to shallow a big loss.

If you want to garantee a victory, just get the "Super Cooler" Mitchell to caddie for you.:D

Bring em all out! Sorry Cat Boy you haven't been out in a long long time and don't have a clue of what my game is like right now. Lets get a huge crowd out and see if Hinds can handle the pressure. I'd love to see a couple dozen following the match around.

You have never bothered me. Just think back, you even tried to play guitar behind me while I teed off. How did that work for you?:D

As for Mitchell, he hasn't been a factor with me for over three years now.

I really hope you show up for it, you being there will just drive me for the win. I love watching you walk away, knowing that with spy vs spy, I'm up another one on you.:p

Yeah, well that was before I discovered the power of the "Air Horn". You ain't going to be doing "Jack" with me standing behind you with my finger on the button ex-lax.:D

When we play, it will be just the two of us and a scorekeeper just to make things fair and so there are no arguments over score. I don't need a big crowd.

I said 10$ for charity, you turned that down. We can still play for that based on the overall score of Ice bowl. But this is a completely seperate event.

Even if I talk trash, I still respect you as a golfer, just trying to step-up my game as well. I'll see you on the battlefield.

Are you giving me the push ???

First of all, it's ACCEPTS. I have already agreed to the deal. Just time and date to be determined. 50 cash and a little pride on the line. Push goes to me. And 1 person as a scorekeeper. preferably Woody.

Stop trying to make money off me Dough, unless you give me part of the cut :)

i have to agree with dan, mclure would be a horrible choice vs wise. ive played a few rounds with him there an it seems to be one of his better courses :P also i find it to be very lefty friendly.
