Paul, admin meetings are for admins. I don't know who informed you that you can just attend? As with any board, I'd adivse you to contact them and ask if attendence is acceptable. The reason for that is that some meetings will deal with sensetive subjects that until decisions are made the general membership shouldn't participate.

Paul my understanding of the charter is, that you may attend and observe, however you may be asked to exit the meeting should an executive session be called to discuss matters not for general membership consumption. You may apply to the chair of the day for an agenda slot should you wish to bring up a matter to the club attention for debate or consideration and may at the chair's discretion be allowed presentation time.
However all votes are conducted by the board only except the general membership election held annually at the fall picnic, which is this Sunday.

I was told otherwise and was simply asking when I could come listen.
If what martin said is true about the board member only discussions, that is fine. As a member of the club I would just like to come listen to the general discussions and observe. From my understanding this is acceptable.

The club has sent money or merch to non sectioned events in the past, sanction status is not a sole qualifier for club sponsorship of disc golf and non disc golf events.

I do not see any place in my copy of the Constitution where board meetings are closed I would expect that comments and motions from the floor would be limited for time sake with prior submission to the club secretary for agenda inclusion would be a possible issue and of course non board directors would not have votes in the meetings as well as the afore mentioned possibility of executive session being called to close a meeting and make discussions of director only material.

as an am player and member of the local club.
i believe the pros should raise the added cash for themselves.
the ams should provide the added cash for themselves.
if mullies are sold keep track of pro portions and am portions and issue the money raised to the perspective divisions.
this will definately show whos supporting who.
if added cash comes from the club it should be divided equally by player division count rather than just adding to the pros.
there are very few pros running minis , why???
there are very few pros searching for an external point of sponsorship, why????

After seeing the gallery at the Worlds Finals in KC, which I would say was at least 1,500 spectators. That was an exciting finale' and as most of us know those are some incredibly talented individuals! I am hopeful that one day disc golf will have big sponsorship and that touring pros will be able to afford to tour. Like Joe said, most touring players don't make crap and yes it's their choice, but I'd like to see it happen. Otherwise why not just make the whole sport amateaur like wrestling or track and field. I guess that's a viable opiton.
With that being said in the big picture of things it doesn't affect my love of disc golf whether it takes off or doesn't as a big time sport. I will always love to play as long as I am physically able to do so. I think most everyone that plays would agree with me on that one and as a wise man named Darrell Johnson once said "it's all about the friendships."
I like Wise' idea of trying to get a big am only event started in Tulsa like Bowling Green. I think this would be a great opportunity for the pros to help out and give back. Many pros already help out like Wise, Dale Patterson, Dan Bougher, Tony Skywalker, Joe Rotan, Jose', Zooc, Wagle, Nicholson, Wilkes, McCoy, Hutch, Joyle, etc, etc. I say let's put our efforts together and throw a big A tier just for the ams so all the pros can run it. Let's get a date figured out and I am in to do this.
Cris
PS - Yes Paul you and anyone else can attend the TDSA meetings (you might have to step out for votes or certain discussions).

well said!!! who is responsible for the marketing to the potential sponsors that are external of disc golf? the volunteers that are the pdga board? the ams that are the players?or the pros who are looking for the big pay day?
maybe all of the above!
but i feel the responsability falls primarily with the players that choose to make disc golf their source of support.
in the other world each laborer is responsible to negociate their wage based on what that laborer can do for the employer.
pros that want a big payday need to show potential sponsor what they can do for them.
some of that can be stacked with the marketing of the pdga.
has there been any conglomerate effort to access the drink manufacturers other than beer, as thats not legal during an event anyway, more towards monster, amp, gatorade, powerade, red bull etc.
most of the players i play with are consuming huge amounts of these style of drink along with water.

potential sponsors want to know that their product is getting maximum exposure, the pdga only has approx 12000 active of over 40000 members. how do they prove that there are probably ten times or more that play recreationally. got to have the numbers before they land the big fish. just my .02

Maybe what the PDGA and the Pros really need to do is make an independant DG movie along the lines of "Tin Cup" or "Caddieshack". The movie could showcase all the drama of tournaments and the funny things about the sport.
Instead of the gopher that terrorizes the course it could be a stray dog that shows up and terrorizes characters by stealing their discs or laying out a big pile of pooh for them to step in.
One character could be like Spicoli and walk around bumming cigerettes and weed.
Other characters include the beer guys, the old farts, the hot chick, and the snobby pros. :)
I'm sure everyone has many funny stories that they can think of and IMO that is what DG is all about.

You're right. Better leave this to the Am's to take care of because if we leave it up to the pros,....ticket prices would be over the top and the TDSA would have to throw in the "added cash".
The young pro actors would probably expect top billing and refuse to come out of their trailers or do promotion tours. :(

I was always told ANY tdsa current member can attend a meeting. When the voting is getting started is when they ask you to leave. Is this not correct because I recieved this info from more than 1 admin.

Member attendance really depends on space available. As far as I know any member can attend but you need to inform an admin so they can insure there is space for you.
It is not recommended that you just show up which is why meetings are not posted publically.

Paul with recent changes voted for and approved by the current board any member may come and address the board with thoughts, concerns or requests. The board will then go "closed door" to discuss options and further club business. When discussions that require a vote are presented or discussions that involve TDSA resources, equipment or labor are tabled the board has elected to have this discussions in private session.
I encourage all members to come speak to or address the board if they like and it is presented with the club's best interest in mind.
