We are launching the 2009 Riverside mini's tonight at 6:00. I am going to be flexible on start times, meaning 10 to 15 minutes, until we see how the parking is working out.
Since Riverside is shorter than Dovillio we may decide to move the tee time to 6:15 or even 6:30. But for tonight we will stick with the scheduled start time.
I hope to see a lot of you there, lets test this whole scene out...
By the way, the Hot Dog vendor looks like a good deal, they smell great!!
Don't go to Dovillio, head for the river...

I know Andrew likes a good weiner but I thought you were more of a taco man?

However, he is a man of principle, i heard he never pays for the weiner...only takes what he can get

Thank you mr. Treat. The course was a blast. While we may have lost some real estate out there, overall the course has a good flow. I like it, easy to play. All I need out there is maybe 4 discs. I didn't shoot that great but I didn't care, thanks for the flex starts, Gota like that. We were out of there by 7:10.
Thanks again Mike.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate your review and support. Based on the amount of land we had to work with, which is less than the old course, I think it worked out pretty well.
The first 3 holes are longer and maybe a little intimidating for new players, but the rest of the course is shorter.
We had 43 palyers for the inauguaral mini at the new course.

Shane Gray. Ties for 1st in Pro with 44 at Chandler 3 weeks ago. A week later at Joyle's mini wins advanced and $24+.
Wins advanced at my mini last week with a 43 which would have WON pro. Now wins advanced at Riverside with a 44.
How can one TD call this guy out and force him to move up when we all allow the bagging to go on? I don't want to have to throw down with this guy but for me to refuse his entry in advanced when nobody else is might lead him to think I'm looking for a dog fight which is sad because anyone that takes a swing at me better kill me the first time around.

Yeah I called him about it earlier. He is swamped at work today but he will reply at some point...

That makes 44. So I am guessing Patton was the one who instigated the changing of my score? I don't want to jump to any conclusions here, but I know what I shot, I know I wrote 44 down on the card. It would strike me as odd that patton would have complained about my score because we were chatting it up the whole time no problems between us... Patton knows I got a 2 on hole 9 because we started on hole 8 and both he and I didn't miss a birdie until he missed 13 and I missed 14....
HRM!!?! im so confused
im pretty sure the score was right and added right. not to mention... this is a mini, not a PDGA event, I didn't realize TDs still did 2 stroke penalties in minis for mis-added scores. i guess its good practice

Ok, I guess I have a lot of catching up to do.
Furdog, I told Shane Gray last night that he was playing his last mini with me as an advanced player, especially at Riverside. I am tired of it too so i am standing up with you.
Paul, as your card was turned in your fellow players, Patton, said you wrote a 2 down for hole 9, but admitted, no cheating, that you got a 3. I took your score, added 1 for the wrong score and added two for turning in a wrong scorecard.
I didn't even recount your card. It was told to me VERY matter of factly that accidentally the wrong score was written down. I looked for you to clear it up then, you were already gone.
I guess you were in a hurry or thought you didn't cash. let me know if you think I mishandled this. Based on Patton's statements I made the change.
Again, no one accused you of trying to take a 2, they said you openly admitted you got a 3, but, you never changed your card. Maybe you thought they would.
If you did really get a 45, you would have tied Crowl and split $8.00.
I still have the scorecards. Give it some thought and come see me next Tuesday and I will make it right, if it needs fixed...

I appreciate the way you approached it. I can understand how since I wasn't there, I had no say in the matter. I actually thought I wouldn't have cashed with all them birdie hungry sharks in the pro field.
So if you saw my last post mike, i recapped my score for you, hole by hole, it should match what was ORIGINALLY on the scorecard before you guys made changes, as that is what I actually scored.
Also like i previously stated, how could patton think I got a 3 on hole number 9, there was no mistake there, I wasn't even the one who wrote that hole down. We started on hole 8 and I got 6 birdies in a row with no mullies, patton got 5 in a row and used a mully. I remember all my shots clearly. Hole 9 was our second hole, (not to put anyone down here...) patton threw 2 finger and it went short and right of the hole, i threw 2 finger and put it like 8 feet away from the basket, melissa threw and hit the tree on the left, and shana's was in line with the pin but short 30 ft.... i made that putt easily.
If you want I can probably go through and recount most of the shots if there are any other holes in question.
I stand by what was on the card and why I said I got, I know I shot -10, 44 (not 45 like you mentioned above)
Melissa
Jul 08 2009, 04:34 PM
I feel like I need to respond, since I was on the card in question. I know Shana doesn't get on this message board and don't know about Patton. Here's what I know. After the round, Dorries took off pretty fast and I sat on my tailgate tending to some personal business. Patton shouted across the parking lot, asking me what Dorries took on 'that last hole', which was 7 (we started on 8). I said 3. Patton (and Shana) agreed, but said Dorries wrote down a 2, so they were changing it. I never looked at the card after I passed it to Shana after the first five holes. I knew I was playing crappy and everyone else was playing great, but I had no idea where everyone stood exactly.
In looking at Dorries' numbers above, it appears to me to be correct. Maybe, just maybe, there was a mistake when Patton was thinking about which hole we started and finished on... I suggest you look at the card and see what's written next to hole 7.
Melissa

Ok, here is the final word, please, on this Dorries scoring issue.
Paul, you are correct you did write a 3 on hole 7. James said sorry he was wrong.
I think there was overall confusion becasue I thought Patton and Melissa said hole 9.
When you pass the 1/2 century mark and throw in 168 Dead shows, maybe my hearing isn't what it used to be.
Anyway Patton and I both apologize for the confusion. I am sure you know there was no ill will intended.
Patton said he will be there next Tuesday to "make things right".
Controversy over...

Bougher told me there was a problem with the CTP last night after I left. The way I heard it was that an Am that had played and marked the CTP before the Pro master group played the hole, came in later and said that his was closer than the one marked by Michael Barr. PURE BS!!!!!
First off had his been closer we wouldn't have moved it!! It wasn't even close, Barr's beat the previous Am's CTP by several feet. Barr's shot was about a foot and a half from the pole. Again I say, we don't change CTP unless it is clear cut that it has been beaten.
You are talking about a PRO master group with over 30 years of playing experience combined. For the Am to even suggest his was closer is CRAP! By making that statement he is calling me and the rest of our group liars. WHO is calling me a liar????????????????????
I also find it hard to beleive that the TD, split the CTP between the AM and the Pro master. Is this true????
How can a CTP be split, unless they both aced the hole?
Thats right.....it can't.:(
Who was on the Am card that questioned the CTP? I can attest that the pro group was Myself, Dan Bougher, Micheal Barr and John Belty. I wished I had stuck around, just so I could tell the Am he was full of shiiiet!!!!
I wasn't there when all of this went down, Mr. Treat can you elaborate on this?

Aug 12 2009, 10:22 AM
On the ctp hole (9) belty hit and skipped out of the basket and we made a lot of noise...and i'm sure that more than one person besides our group saw mike move the flag from about 15'-20' to within 2' of the basket...the flag was almost under the edge of the basket...and someone moving the flag after someone had marked it is bs...mike marked off the name and put his name on the marker and it did not move during the round until it was taken to mike treat...

The fact that they came back and said their's was closer, makes the implication that our card was lying or even worse that we cheated. You know how I am about the rules of play..... I want to know who is callng me a cheater!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can I preceive this any other way????
sschumacher
Aug 12 2009, 11:03 AM
Well first of all Pro vs Am should have nothing to do with it when it comes to cheating.
More than likely the guy probably had his buddies on the card saying that his was closer because I wouldn't take just one guy's word for it. That is a problem with flex starts because you could end up with 4 buddies on one card saying anything they wanted to but in this case I would believe Wise's group over the other.
Knowing Wise, Bougher, & Barr,....I know those guys wouldn't be cheating on a CTP so I would be questioning it and wouldn't give half to the other guy.
I did split a Chandler CTP last week though because Johnny Thompson picked up the flag before the final card came in. The two guys in question understood what happened and I gave them a choice to either split or throw off. They had no problem with that.
This thing at Riverside is different though. :(

Aug 12 2009, 01:25 PM
Sorry I left the results at home so Andrew will post them in a bit.
The good stuff first. We had 39 players which was a very good turnout.
Coda Hatfield shot an amazing 17 down. He only missed #16 and apparently he almost made that one. New course record, the previous was he and Adam Hunt at -15.
Joel Woody aced #5. The ace pot was $136.00 so I rounded up to $140.00.
Now for the controversy. The person who made stated the CTP flag had been moved was the guy you met last night Dave, Derrick Moore. EVERYONE on his card said he was a hands width from the pole.
I never thought people, you, would consider this a moral issue. I had a decision to make and I am always willing to make those.
My take was that a casual had moved the flag 25 feet or so out. Now come on, 25 feet certainly isn't a hands width from the pole. Your card played the hole Barr was very close, maybe a foot and a 1/2 based on when I saw it, so your group listed his name and placed the flag at his position.
So, here I have one card, including Derrick, Matt Shipley and others saying for sure he was right by the pole. I have your card including Barr saying no it was way out so you all moved it.
I feel 100% certain some casual moved the flag after Derrick threw. How else could it be so far from the pole. We aren't talking a couple of feet discrepancy, were talking 20 + feet.
So, I split it, $15.00 to each. The two guys actually involved seemed very content with my decision.
So there you have it. No one is accusing the Pro Masters of anything and neither should they accuse the Advanced card of anything.
I used to place a tape measure on top of the basket but they were stolen every week.
Since I usually use hole 8 and 9 now I will start placing the tape back on top again..
Results soon...

Sounds reasonable. I hope you can understand the frustration. We DON"T move a CTP unless it has been beaten. Since those CTPS are right by your area, may be worth watching in the future. Maybe you shold use hole 8 since it is right in front of you.
Good round by CODA and good for Woody on the ace but he should have had to split it 3 ways. Belty went in and out of a basket and caged another one on top of the basket rim.:p

Thanks Mike!
When Dan called me last night he was pretty worked up about it and couldn't remember who was on the Am card. All I knew was that Mike beat what was there and we re-marked it. Sorry for the drama but it gave the implication that someone wasn't telling the truth. I take that pretty seriously. You know I'm a rules dick. or just a dick, either way is fine with me
I had something like that happen at Owasso but it wasn't a casual, an older lady (walker) took the flag and when the next group told her it was for the golfers, she stated it was hers, she found it and now its hers and she is keeping it. So all I could do was pay the last person that had it marked.

Riverside has had its moments. I have had my whole bag and two sleeves of discs stolen out there. I have witnessed WWF Konckdown between two Masters aged players.:D Dumped my bag in the middle of Riverside from the back of my truck pulling out. The funny thing about that one is, a truck stopped and grabbed my bag but one of the golfers said he saved my towel.:o Gee thanks buddy! Got my bag and cell phone back later that night.
Was third on a card and leading, then had to throw with the first two players aceing the same hole before I threw.
Dave King threw his whole bag in the River, then figured out it would have been better to take his wallet and keys out of the bag first.
Bougher threw a shot that went in the top knot hole of the tree on new hole 4 and is still there.
Many good times out there.

Started on hole 1 with a birdie, then proceeded to have a car turning left on Riverside block my skip shot,, at least I clipped him pretty good, circle 5. Next hole tree, tree, shank, 5. Then by hole 7, I was back to even and shanked every drive there after and managed to par the next 10 holes and would have made it 11 but didn't putt out.:( Sawed off every drive and pulled every putt.
I think I'm ready for the Adv Grand Masters.:p At least I didn't let Shanna get me.:D Thats getting harder to do.

Quit trying to create an issue where there isn’t one.
I never stated that it was Kyle and I already posted on my thread that he was never a suspect in that basket deal.
I’ve seen him tye on a good drunk before but that’s no different than me or any other Chandler Stocker and I don’t believe he would ever try to steal a basket. Especially a cheap $160 Lighting portable.

Yes, I owe you two dollars and no I did not finish. I threw the last hole but did not putt out if you remember. I was running late and had to get out of there.
Yes, the card you are speaking of was WAY slow. The biggest problem wasn't the players but having 5 on the card is ridiculous. That one extra player will add 3-5 minutes per hole x 18 holes = 55 - 90 minutes and it **** sure felt like it. They started 20 minutes ahead of us and we caught them after 7 holes, then it was throw, putt and wait. Throw, putt and wait. Every freaking hole and it wasn't just the group but the size of the group and then having to wait on pedestrians also. With less than 40 players there shouldn't be any more than 4 per card and 3 would be ideal. Not the TDs fault, flex starts are designed to make it easier on the players but it actually makes it harder on the TD with mixed divisions and cards going out one after the other. Plus he can't control what hole they start on. You have groups starting on 1, 8, 9 10, just all over the place and if a backup starts it just gets worse with every hole.
I know after last night, I will make sure in Owasso that there are no more five somes out on the course. All cards will either be 3 or 4 players, no more than that. I don't play when i TD, so its hard to tell just what the backups are but its a simple math fact, less players per card should mean less time per card per hole.
sschumacher
Aug 19 2009, 10:51 AM
Well IMO Dough Duff was the big hold-up on that card. Every time I looked he was out on Riverside trying to retrieve his disc. He probably wanted to play on that card because he knew Coda didn't have a tag and wouldn't take his # 3.
Treat should have created an "Ultra-Nov" division just for him alone.

Nice turn out of 39 players. Weather was great..
There are 3 weeknight mini's left at Riverside. I think I am running two weeks past any of the other courses. It is getting dark earlier so we will have to step up the pace but it should be all good.
Crow Throw this Sunday. Joel donated a nice bag of goodies last night via a throw off on hole #9.
Crow Throw will be fun and the weather is looking good by then.

It is getting dark earlier so we need to hurry a bit, and a little bit more next week etc.
There are only 3 weeknight mini's left at Riverside, Furdog is running his last this Thursday.
Ace pot could be close to $150.00..

Two things. First of all the mini tonight at Riverside is the next to last weeknight mini of the year. The final is next week, 9-22.
I will do flex starts with a cutoff of 6:00. We are going to have to speed things up a bit due to darkness.
Now, unfinished business from last week, I never posted results.
Seth Cook had a banner night, aced hole #2 for $132.00 and he beat Coda by a stroke. Not too shabby..

Please get there as early as you can. I will be there by 5:15. We are going to have to hurry to finish before dark.

First of all, thanks to everyone who came out and supported my mini's this year.
We began on May 5th at Dovillio then moved to Riverside on July 14th.
That is a total of 22 mini's over a 5 month period.
The largest field was 47 and the smallest was 17.
Thanks to your support we raised $791.00 for the TDSA.
We had 157 different players show up at one time or another.
I plan on several weekend events over the fall and winter, so stay tuned.

Thanks to Dan Bougher for donating CTP packages for the last two mini's. I really appreciate it.
I wish others would do the same. Coda gave a cool disc a few weeks ago. If you have something laying around, bring it out and donate it to a CTP or whatever you chose.
The same thing goes for coupons or whatever. If you don't want it, somebody else might think it is really cool..
Thanks again for a great year..

I figured you were right Kyle, and you are. You shot a 12 down but the scorecard is clearly marked a 44..
The front 9 line up with your names, but everyone dropped down a line on the back 9. Kind of strange.
I thought that might have caused the confusion but Johnny shot good on the front 9 but not as good on the back, so that wasn't it.
I counted the middle scores which were yours and it is a 12 down.

What's the "special" Riverside mini? Thanks Papa Treat.
FROM TREAT ON A DIFFERENT THREAD:
I asked Wayne to list it that way since I am planning on a slightly higher entry fee, a few mullies included to benefit the Ice Bowl.
Not sure of the price yet but I will post it soon. It won't be much higher than a normal weekend mini..
Mostly trying to up payout a little and help the Ice bowl..

Jan 08 2010, 05:57 PM
Ok, I guess I better decide what I want to do Sunday at the river. I listed this mini as "special".
My idea is to boost payout a little and get a few mully $$ for the Ice Bowl.
So here is what I am thinking:
Ams - $10.00 ** $2.00 to TDSA, $6.00 payout, $2.00 for Ice Bowl
Pro - $20.00 ** $2.00 to TDSA, $15.00 payout, $3.00 Ice Bowl.
Everyone will get 4 mulligans included in their entry. I will have a couple of special CTP's.
I am putting everyone in the Ace Pot for free, $1.00 each. I think the ace pot is over $100.00 so that's not a bad deal.
The weather is supposed to be warmer, around 32 degrees anyway.
Come on out, support the Ice Bowl, take a shot at some free CTP's and the free ace pot.
Tee time is 1:00, I will be there early for sign-ups.

Total $100
Thanks to everyone who threw in some of their winnings..
We had two free CTP's. A 2010 USDGC San Marino Roc, won by Snakeskinn, and a bottom stamped Star Xcalibur, hand picked from the east coast Innova factory by yours truly, won by Taylor Sears.

The Riverside Glide is going back to a two day B tier this year. I caught a lot of heat last year for making it a single day and backing down to a C tier.
But, the reason I did that was to see how things went, and I think they went great.
I would definately consider the west side. I actually think we could put a really nice nine hole course in. Yes we can do 18 but 9 holes would fit great and not have to go all the way south, turn around and play back again.
Lets see how things progress, but definately possible..
Ok, let the traditionalist start their tirades!!!!
