Great event and super staff!! Served everybody breakfast on Sat. morning and made sure that there was plenty of cold drinks to go around. Looks like Skeeter is moving up...he told me that he will start playing Masters/Open from now on. :D He is just too good for us old folks.
We did happen to see the back-to-back aces on hole 15 by the master's card. We even took some pictures of the proud owners standing by the basket. Again, great event and great people. :)

Thanks again everyone.

There were 5 aces, Willy, with each one getting $82. That's another $400 that we can't show in the purse, but we'll always include it since everyone seems to enjoy it. In the past we always had 8 to 14 aces. I guess 80' to 120' is a bit much after throwing the Championship layout. Next year with the additional keg I guess I'll need to keep the holes down to 60' and under. ;)

the keystone lounge provided the keg, but we drank our regular cooler chilled stones in the can. however the popularity of keystone became apparent to us so next year we will be needing two kegs

that being said i think matt was talking about water jugs

Randy Greywoolf (on right) and Brian Schmidt. Randy threw a Star Destroyer first, then Brian followed up with a CE Teebird. Right before Randy threw we agreed to do a $50 split. We both reneged on the deal!

JD Ramirerz hit the same hole earlier.

Thanks for sending me the pic!

I would like to take one moment to give a little history here. This is not to call attention to myself, but to acknowledge the efforts of some great people with the Arlington Club. A couple of years ago I started getting symptoms of a serious illness. One of them is water retention that restricts lung capacity ( another thing that Elvis and I have in common besides looks and a great voice ) and I spent a week in the hospital with treatments for it. The doctor then put me on some medicines that made me pretty sick. As a result I told the guys in the club that I might not be able to be the TD this year, and heres the point of this post. They told me not to worry about a thing, to just tell them what needed to be done, and they would do it. They did it.
As the event neared, Greg and I, worked hard to cover all the bases and it seemed every time we turned one corner another obstacle would be in the road..city permits, PDGA site down, info gaps, sponsors hurting financially, and so on. Let me say that Greg Browning is every bit the professional anyone could want to manage an event. With his help we were able to put this together. We both took Thursday and Friday off to get things wrapped up and ready. After doing the math we were both stunned to find that we had a huge event happening.
Then, Saturday morning gets here, and I wind up in pretty bad shape again with breathing problems and I was torn up as I realized there was no way I was going to make it through the morning much less the weekend. Greg would have to pull out and run things ruining the fun for him and everyone would be taxed a little more, but then I remembered Brian Mace was there and I suddenly was hit by a wave of relief. Not only could Greg play, but the event had a totally capable man in charge. Thanks, Brian, I cant say enough.
I went to the hospital not knowing if I would come out any time soon, but after some treatments and eight hours they let me out, so I was able to attend on Sunday although I could only help in a limited capacity. Everyone was very supportive and I appreciate it, and the tourney finished in grand style with the back to back aces, Avery having to hit a 30 footer into the wind on his last putt to hold off Eric, and everybody happy with the fat CTPs and payout, and of course the Ace in the Oaks party.
I warned Greg that after being so deeply involved with making it all happen that he shouldnt expect much from his play. Next year Greg Browning will be the TD for the VPO, and Ill be there to help again. Who knows.maybe Ill play Open and finish DFL. ;)
