DD is really looking forward to another great tournament in Texas!

Thanks for all the support while I was in Michigan for Am Nats! That is an awesome tournament that every amateur should try to experience. I have a long way to go to catch Smitty though and don't see that happening any time soon.

OK, back to tourney talk. I apologize about not getting anything posted on here. Don O'Connell did another nice job with the tournament stamp and flyer! He also had a nice showing in Crowley with a huge win over the Advanced Masters field.

Fundraiser discs will include Champion Xcalibers and Champion Destroyers and I expect these to go quickly.

Registration will be up on titledisc shortly so get signed up there.

Can anyone help out with water? We will have ice provided by the city but will need some extra jugs so that everyone can stay hydrated. Are there any clubs that would want to help out with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm sure it will be a hot weekend of golf!

We also don't have any major sponsors for the event so if anyone is interested in becoming a sponsor please contact me. Any CTP prizes or cash will really help out and keep these events posting some of the top payouts for PDGA B-Tier events.

Look forward to seeing everyone again at Cedar Hill in August!

I've heard good thing about Cedar Hill & that's from playing aminly in the mid-west. It's a big too aggressive of a drive for me this year & my tour has a club championship scheduled that weekend, but hopefully I can make it out there in the next couple years... I am very interested in a CFR Excaliber though.

The Innova tournament stamped discs have arrived and look great! Thanks again to Don O'Connell for another nice job on the tournament stamp. The Discraft discs are showing up later in the week as well so of course there won't be any shortage in plastic or merchandise at the tournament!

Champion: Xcaliber, Destroyer, Firebird
Star: Wraith, Destroyer, Xcaliber
DX: Big Bead Aviar Driver, Aviar
Pro: Wraith, Destroyer

I don't expect the Xcalibers to last long! They feel great with a flat top similar to the 11X Firebird except with wider Xcaliber rim. I took a couple out to the course tonight and they are predictable and overstable!

Make sure you get signed up in advance! Titledisc registrations are starting to come in and the first 100 Amateur players will receive a Champion Monarch in the players package so don't miss the cut.

The course will be set up in the long pin positions on Saturday and then moved to some of the shorter setting on Sunday to help speed the play and get everyone home sooner than later. Brian Lamoreaux has set up a course workday on Saturday to ensure that the course is in its best condition!

Don Q will be providing lunch on one of the days. We are working on getting someone else in there to provide lunch so that you don't have to leave the park. If anyone has suggestions for this please send me a PM. During lunch we will also be doing the $1 CTP throw for the Discraft Chainstar.

'm just glad that, as of right now, we know that the tournament is in Cedar Hill! Not like last year where we had to make a last minute decision to change courses due to the flooding in Lewisville. Look forward to seeing everyone next weekend! Don't forget about bring your own partner doubles on Friday with a flex start time from 3 pm to dark. You can also get signed up and/or checked in on Friday.

I just do what players have been asking for! and have been lucky enough to have the help from the DD crew which is the only reason why these tournaments are possible.

Of course, without the players who sacrifice a weekend for disc golf, there wouldn't be any DD tournaments! Thanks for all the support!

Hope everyone is ready for another Ring Of Fire hosted by Smitty (the 2008 Kansas State Champion)! There will be plenty of prizes from Innova and Discraft.....and if you are smart enough to be putting with a Gateway Wizard, Warlock, or Magic you might just qualify for some special bonus prize from Gateway. Eric McCabe won the last Gateway Ring of Fire and got himself a $100 entry to his next tournament!

Only if they took cash in Open. If they took merch they can still play Adv

Don't know how to say this nice. The PDGA sucks if all we get is ratings and anybody can play where they want. 11 of the 16 players signed up in ADV. are INT. rated while 2 are OPEN rated. It's a sad day when OPEN rated players are afraid to play OPEN when everyone else plays up. I get my butt whooped in ADV. all the time and you don't see me running back to INT. cause I " can't compete at that level".

Correct, but I would like to see Damian move on up...he won the tourney in Advanced earlier in the year already and Rockwall most recently

Check your scorecard again... Rusty Pappas won Advanced in the TitleDISC Open :). But of course Eric Teddy finished third, proving that anything can happen at Rockwall :D

I agree that Damian has the game to play up. In fact, he is quoted as saying (in Waco) that his wife is tired of all the merch building up in the garage, so he would be playing Pro from then on. He was even on the Open leader card early in that tournament (with some really big names in the field), shooting 1000+ golf the first two rounds. The man needs to start playing for real money :)

I don't think yall can give Damian too much krap for playing Adv. He has tested the waters and missed cash by 18 strokes in two open events. Open is no joke!

I like what Cali does for adv players playing open. They let them take merch instead of cash.

So are there going to be any open teams playing doubles this friday? Crowley and The Fling both had 15 adv teams and just 1 open team.

This isn't a Cali thing, this is available at any PDGA-sanctioned event. Take a gander at section 2.1(D) of the 2008 competition manual:

"Professional players entering into a Professional division
compete for money and Amateur players entering into a
Professional division may accept merchandise in lieu of
cash."

http://www.pdga.com/documents/2008/08CompetitionManual.pdf

Edit: I also wouldn't give damian too much crap for playing Adv. if he hadn't already made the bold statement of "I'm moving up for good" :D. He only missed cash by 6 strokes in Waco and after day 1 it looked like he might have had a chance at a top 3 finish in a really tough field. The guy has game, for sure.

Second Edit: Damian also shot well enough to cash at Rockwall, he just wasn't playing Open that day... I know it's not a 100% valid comparison but I do believe he has the skill. Plus his rating is 971, so he's good enough to be forced into the MPO division in a ratings-based event. I've known D for like 8 years and he's really turned it up lately. I'm proud of him but I'm still going to give him crap :)

You need to play 8 PDGA events B-tier or bigger. This one is in your backyard, so you shouldn't miss it. The course has tons of shade, so it isn't going to be to bad.

Not to change the subject. I think that D-Craft puts to much emphasis on bigger PDGA events . With a wife, kids and a jobby job I am unable to travel much. I do play a ton on non-sanctioned events and have a much bigger impact on that scene. Eric, Jake, Ron and myself have helped turn most of Kansas into Discraft Country.

Back to the topic at hand. You need to come to the tourney so we can discuss or Discraft impact on the local disc golf community. :D

You know me. Tantrums are a hobby. And, yes, I threw my cooler and broke it and didn't even finish that day. Lost 10 pounds in water weight that weekend.:D:mad::D

Britt - You need to be more like Guy and [censored] everyone off on your card so they do really bad. Works for Guy. Although, there can be only one Origional Ninja

Heat index for Sat/Sun is predicted to be between 108-110. Drink plenty of water BEFORE you hit the park....it will be too late if you start drinking (water) by then. Good Luck to all the GM's...I see that Glen Hale is back. Good luck sir. :D

On the registration page - "Online entries for this event will close at approximately 09:00:00 AM, Friday August 1, 2008 or if the event becomes full.
(That is only 1 day away!) "

I'm going to guess that Jeremy will make that decision tomorrow or Saturday based on division sizes. There aren't long/short boxes to worry about (unless Brian has added some recently) so it's pretty much just down to making the divisions fit on the courses in a speedy manner.

So IF it's 102* on Sat w/ the projected 47% humidity, we are looking at 122*. Sunday IF it's 104* w/ a projected 40% humidity, we are looking at 119*. Heat stroke or sun stroke highly likely.

McCabe is driving the RV right now and says you better play Hero! If you get too hot we'll have the AC on in the RV:) and maybe a cold beer for you.

I know the heat is a serious issue but the courses do have a lot of shade and we will have plenty of water out there thanks to the Arlington Disc Golf Association and Bryan Lamoreaux! Please bring your own water to help out with the water situation We want to see 150+ players but don't want to see someone go down with heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

We will make a decision on who plays what course Saturday morning. We will have the cards tentatively set up tomorrow during registration but as players sign up anything can change.

Don't forget about bring your partner doubles on Friday starting anytime in the afternoon. Cash and plastic divisions at $20 per team. Registration and check in can also be taken care of on Friday.

I don't plan on making the trip but I know Matt and Patrick are heading up tomorrow sometime late in the evening. You can PM either of them as I'm sure they check their messages. I will give Matt the heads up tonight to check his pm's in case someone is wanting to carpool.

If I can get a hold of Soete I will let him know but I think he was planning on drving up so he probably wouldn't need a ride but may want to split a room.

I am holding out on seeing that movie until I go to MI so my girl can go with me.

Maybe a cold beer? Maybe!!!! If i don't die before i make it into the RV then you might get your first lesson in how to properly drink from The Jug O' Righteousness! I have mastered the drinking part. Still working on the walking straight after consumption part.

online pre-registration is going to be extended through 3pm today, then the only way to get in (if spots are left) will be to sign up in person at the park this afternoon or early in the morning. There are still a few spots left but I don't expect them to last long. No time for procrastination :)

Can't wait to see a Dallas area course for the first time. I went to HS in Mesquite, so looking forward to being back in the area.

Seriously folks, I nearly dehydrated last week at Manor and it wasn't funny once I started getting really confused and felt like I'd taken the brown acid at Woodstock. Drink PLENTY of water before, during and after your rounds. I plan on feeling much better this week (save the beer for in the evenings after you've cooled down.)

I strongly suggest priceline.com for last-minute stuff. I have saved lots of money booking hotel rooms that way. Just search the area, pick a chain you're familiar with, and offer them 50% of their normal rate. It should work :)

Hey hero, if you like glo rounds and you are not going to Lake Lewisville Open then I suggest you come to Austin (Twin Parks) for the Sleeper part IV. They are only taking in 75 people and it will fill I promise you that.

I support Twin Parks but I like Lake Lewisville to much to miss it. I blew it last year but I was playing INT. I need my revenge!
