From Rusco above, "We want to see 150+ players..." so it's sitting at 137 right now without knowing how many have signed up at the course so far.

OMG I know it's late now but have not been able to log on all day. Just wanted to make a quick note on hotels for anyone coming that may still look at this. 1st off the motel 6 in Duncanville is totally gross! Family and I stayed there during the Cedar Hill Open (Big Show). Now for the better news, the new deal that Wyndham hotels has with the PDGA is good. There is a very nice Super 8, 20 min from the course, descent rates, breakfast, wi-fi and pool (that is where the wife and I will be tomorrow evening for sure).
Hope this helps just follow the link on the PDGA homepage and we will see all you disc nuts in the morn. and good luck to all.

sorry I have been AFK - had to go grab some new TitleDISC merch from the printer and then go help my little sis move. I'm sure by now you've figured out that the max number is 180. Of course, if you also read the disclaimer on my site then you know that my list only accounts for those that signed up via titleDISC.... which is, of course, almost the entire field (126 / 149 = 85%)! :)

Jeremy is probably quicker than any other TD out there when it comes to updating the PDGA prereg list (he knew about Hero's entry before I did :D) so that is the best source for the final tally of entries. At some point in the near future mine will include outside entries as well but that's in the future.

149 is the number posted right now which really says something, especially considering that we have record-setting heat indexes forecast for this weekend. This is going to be a great event in spite of the heat. See you all in a few hours :)

The latest registration list is up and online. 149 players with more showing up in the morning!

As with all DD events, scoring will be uploaded every round on PDGA so stayed tuned as the cards are counted at lunch! DDoubles results will be posted tomorrow as well. Only two pro teams: Seaborn/Jowers 43, Rusco/McCabe 46. 10 Am teams with 47 leading that! Scores will be posted tomorrow.

I actually got to play the courses today for my first time and have to say that Lamoreaux has done an awesome job here! The Cedar Hill disc golfers are very lucky to have such a great set up! Without his help this tournament could not take place.

Emac continues to show why he is a Big Mac in a land of small fries.

Emac, Longerbone, Smitty, Hickman, and myself played R2 together. Emac shot -6 to move to -11. Hickman shoots -1 or E to move to -6 or -5. Smitty, & Longerbone shoot +1 to my -1 and now we are all knotted up at -4. Miles and JD shot well from the 2nd card and moved up i'm sure. I'm not sure about anyone else. It was hot. The beer was cold, thanks Manny!

Must also give a HUGE kudos to Rusco, Jeremy and the rest of the DD crew. This so far has been one of the 2 best and smoothest run events I have ever played, and I have been a member playing sanctioned events for more than 8 years.

A 2nd HUGE thanks to Jeremy, and Brian L. Thank you so much for letting my daughter hang with you guys this afternoon. The discs were an awesome touch. She is so ready to get playing and will remember her afternoon for a very very long time.

Is it just me, or are some of those Advanced player ratings a little high. I guess no one is forcing these obvious baggers to move up?

Rusco
Aug 03 2008, 02:19 AM
Got the typo fixed for Rowton! The advanced players are within the PDGA guidelines so they can stay in advanced until their ratings are 975 or higher. A tie for 2nd place in open would bring home just under $300 CASH or a win in advanced will bring home around $125 in merchandise at this event.

It feels great to be back in Texas! Just short of 160 players for one of the hottest weekends of the year! What an awesome showing of players! We had a smooth start today and didn't have to rush anyone to the hospital for heat stroke so that was good. These courses have a lot of shade so that really helps out.

We can't say enough good things about Bryan Lamoreaux! This guy does all the dirty work so that we can sit back and relax! Course preparation, breakfast rolls in the morning, keeping water on the course.....this guy does it all and is the reason why we want to keep coming back to Cedar Hill to put on great tournaments.

Scoring will be posted again as soon as they are available for round 3 and 4. We decided to relax a little tonight and apologize about the delay for the 2nd round postings.

There is no cap on Advanced ratings. Amateurs may have as high a rating as possible and never turn pro. At a 970 rating or higher, pros are not allowed to slide over into amateur divisions.

Great tournament and showing at the best disc golf complex in the region. Big kudos to Brian L. for a dedicated effort for several years to give us a heaven on Earth. ;)
I was in charge of keeping the gallery behind the ropes so I was able to watch some premiere competition including Brice's ace on #17 Beaver near the end of the day. Not sure what it netted him out of the $645 but he deserved the boost after the let down in the middle of the round he went through.
Congratulations to all the winners (ie. everyone that played) and to DD for a fun weekend to watch as well as play.

Another great turnout and great fun at a DD event.

To rephrase what I posted on our club thread...

1) great gear
2) great attitude
3) great payout
4) great fun

This seems like the formula for a great tournament. It's too bad more TDs can't provide the same experience. Jeremy, I hope you don't mind if I borrow these concepts ;)

Dynamic Discs did another fantastic job! See you guys in Lewisville. Or maybe you'll come down for the TitleDISC experience in Carrollton and/or Mesquite :)

I enjoyed the tournament. We have a great bunch of North Texans and some adopted Texans, too.
DD did a great job of course with the organization. Rounds that start on time are not to be taken for granted.
Another huge plus was having lunch on the grounds. That improved my traveling experience a lot. No sweating directions to food places and making it back on time. It was all right there. All those involved with the lunch experience, thanks a million! You were underpaid for sure.
Thanks for running the Ring of Fire, Smitty. I think you got my 8-yr-old girl hooked for sure now. She didn't want to leave the awards even. Then she wanted to practice her putt. I just bought her the Discraft Lite Challenger. You got her hooked by winning something.

This Double Der made it home just in time to start the day.

Rusco kicked me out of the RV at 5:00 AM, hour and a half nap and my kids were ready to make up some missed wrestling time.

What a weekend! Learned about the powder, met lots of new and fun people. Got my butt kicked by the coyote 2 more times, that makes coyote 4 Smitty 0 (next year I am going to get some revenge on that sucker!), learned that I don't know how to fill the water tank on the RV.

sorry it has taken me a couple of days to get on here. i busted my compy on friday night. ahhh, the joys of expensive technology.

GREAT event DD. this was the first event of y'alls that i got to participate in and the pre-press was not inaccurate. every round was started within 5-10 minutes of when it was announced it would start. lots of water on the courses. big thanks to Brian for that. scores and ratings available before the next round started. payout handled smoothly. games to play while waiting. top notch.

Rusco, your reputation precedes you. you are a hard working, respectable, responsible, fun guy. keep it up and you will continue to build a base of support so that you can continue to have 150+ show up at one of your tournaments 8 hours away from your home. count me in to the crew that is a fan of DD now.

There isn't much that I could say about the Double D that hasn't already been said...but I'll say it anyway :D I was waiting for this past weekend since last year's CedarVille Open, and I was overwhelmed by how much greater it was than I had expected!

Rusco - I think Dixon said it best...your rep does precede you, and I tell people every chance I get that they should NEVER pass up a DD event! Everything about the weekend was great...true, I'm probably a little biased since I got to head back east with a new Chainstar in tow ;), but I didn't hear anyone say a single negative thing about the event. Great job guys, can't wait to play another!

Big props to all the golfers I met...Brendan, Dixon, Matt Hall, Smitty, Longerbone, My Hero, Newberry, Micah (aka mee-kah), and anyone I forgot...I learned a lot from playing with you all and hope to see you all again soon (hopefully on the leader card).

Congrats to The BigMac in the Land of small fries! I expect you to do well at World's this year. Glad i was able to play 3 rounds with you....too bad the Coyote course was too TREEmendous for Hickman and myself...as we slid from the leader card to the middle of the 3rd card after that 3rd round.

Brenden Hickman, you are a true class act! So glad our paths crossed this weekend. Rusty Pappas, you've got it brother! Don't ever think about looking back at the ADV waters....so nice to meet you.

In retrospect, a beer per every basket moved may not have been the best idea. It sure sounded good at the time though. ;) We only moved 14 baskets! More baskets is better..... :p

Just to keep Stevan from going, I may do it.
