If you, instead of making a new thread, looked down to the one entitled "2008 Okie Schedule".......

All dates reside there...at least tentatively. ... . ..

This is going to be a TnT production and it is going to make quite a BANG!!!

You have never heard of TnT productions?

TnT productions, a.k.a. my dad and I, are going to run world class tournaments for the people of Tulsa and hell, maybe even the surrounding areas...since we live in one...

Plain and simple TnT is Treat & Treat...

Twice as Treat...

Twice as Sweet...

We know pie...

Is GOOD TO EAT!

I got my [censored] in shape, and now I have slowly rolled down a hill of coneys after riverside minis, coneys after McClure, burger street after McClure...

So what courses are going to be played? Has the format been decided?

mtreat
Jan 24 2008, 11:57 PM
The plan right now is to play McClure and Dovilio one day and Haikey and Hunter the next.

This all depends on the status of the courses as game time nears.

We are afraid Mohawk could be wet that time of year, and some people tend to stay away from the Hawks.

The good news is thanks to the folks who came before us, we have a lot of options :cool:

Of course player input is always welcome...

mtreat
Jan 24 2008, 11:59 PM
Oh yeah, you asked about format too.

Honestly we haven't completely decided on that. I would assume what has worked in the past is a possibility..

dgdave

You've gotta play The Hawks! Its rained there last year and it wasn't that big of a deal. Granted I played Black when the worst hit so there were trees to protect me.

Birdie
Jan 25 2008, 03:03 AM
It is more of a retention problem...

It is more of a retention problem...

Exactly right ;)

I have been curious as to the feasibility of doing some work at Mohawk, regarding drainage. Fixing the drainage would also help the tree's and greatly assist in getting grass growing in the woods. I think that grass is going to start growing in the woods anyway because of the recent storm damage and the loss to the canopy, but it is still going to struggle because of the drainage issues.

...ok back on track....

Drainage... As many of the locals know there is a creek system that runs through black, that is basically just filled up with debris. If we had access to some machinery that could clean out the creeks, we could fix the drainage problems. It doesn't need to be a complete revamping of the creek, but more of a reclamation of what is already there.

This would also make the course a little more challenging. Which is what we all want, right?? ;) :D

I know that there is still a lot of work to be done to get it back to what it was, so obviously this isn't a priority...yet.

Just curious as to everyones opinion on this. I think it would be a great step to making Mohawk the best it can be.

sschumacher
Jan 25 2008, 11:56 AM
Mohawk has always been classified as a bog or swamp. The thing with drainage is all the land around the park drains into it and the whole thing is basically a flood plane. If the drainage problem is caused by manmade trash I think we could go in the and correct some if it but if it's natural then some envirmentalist is probably going to complain to the city if we went in there with machinery and started screwing around with the eco-system. :(

Everybody knew the possible problems when it was decided to put courses out there in the first place. It makes scheduling a tournament there in the spring kind of "iffy" because one never knows when the big rain might come and flood the park. It doesn't take much out there. It's a little better at Haikey but that park can flood also so it's always a gamble one way or another.

I would say go ahead and try and schedule Mohawk into the GCC but be prepared just in case an alternate course is needed. Also, don't forget "The Lodge" as an alternative. :)

twoputtok
Jan 25 2008, 12:00 PM
We always knew that Mohawk may be a course that can only be used 7-8 months out of the year.

Now with a lot of the canopy gone, it may be easier for the grass to come in on some of the fairways though. ;)

Pennekamp
Jan 25 2008, 12:05 PM
I agree that we don't want to go in with major changes, as this tends to cause more problems than we could probably deal with. What I was saying was...clear out the brush and "garbage" that is causing the creeks to hemmorage onto the fairways. This will solve a lot of our issues while really helping the course for the long term.

sschumacher
Jan 25 2008, 12:23 PM
I agree. It would be nice to mulch some of those trees and use the mulch around the tee pads and in the lower area's. Problem is that the first big flood that comes will move everything back towards the creeks. IMO though it seems like the water always seems to stand longer on Red than it does on Black.

Mohawk will always be a high maintenance course. Most of the married guys who play out there should already be used to that by now. :D

Yeah but it is tough to make a 360 with hip waders on, While the Series will play March 1 no mater how deep it is (unless they close the park) it is less fun to play when standing ankle deep in mud or water than it is to play a dry track.

If the Lodge gets much rain, it can be even more trecherous than the others, due to the addition of loose rubble.

However, it's large ponds can hold a lot of water...

It is an option, but its location makes it tough to run an event there, and in tulsa.

It is a possibility though.

I really like playing doubles at Blackhawk, though no one ever wants to play dubs....

I like the idea of running Mohawk though...

But I also think....why don't we ever run anything out at Haikey and Hunter????

I figured when I saw this many posts on the GGD thread that someone would have brought that point up...

When I talk to players that came for Am Worlds, then always have Hunter, not Blackhawk, at the top of their list...

FWIW...(For What it's Worth) :D

I think if the course is wet, close to tourney time, it is best left alone...

Wait until it is really torn up and the park takes an interest and we get stuck with a Reparian Zone or whatever...

You guys act like it rains every year at GCD (?). There have been plenty of years it's been beautiful on GCD weekend. If it rains it rains, who gives a flip. Out of towners and locals alike are interested in playing our BEST courses. Most of these guys don't get the chance to play BH at all unless they travel for a tournament. Why not include our best course in town? I just don't get it.

BTW, Hunter Park's tee pads are some of the worst wet/muddy weather tee pads in the state. Great course but very muddy when wet.

That is very true MC but as pointed out in other places and threads Mohawk is a drainage point with no outlet so a few good days of rain will fill it like a bowl,

If I remember correctly, and since the people at the 30 thirty year reunion coming up can verify this, you were down and out after graduation because you could no longer show up at high school to maintain your job handing out towels in the boys locker room. You struggled meeting people for a while until you got a job as a male nurse at the local hospitals where you attended to and would occasionally date comatose people. Back then for you, showing a woman a good time consisted of, hooking up the feeding tube, changing the bedpan, and turning the machine on and off just to show them what a dominate guy you were.

While some of your dates chose to pass on rather than wake up to you I think your ex-wife didnt mind getting married until she woke up from her coma at which time (like all the others) promptly left you, I think in this case for another woman.

Now based on that if you want to come in here and say you had her first well I think most people can understand that statement really isnt true if she wasnt awake at the time. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif ....I guess it also lends some reasoning as to why Julie keeps a large supply of sleeping tablets by your bed also. ;)

I don't know why we are still talking about this, I am TD and I have made a decision. If you would, there again, read my posts, I have said that my main concern in running the course is, IF IT IS RAINING/ TOO WET BY MY JUDGMENT ALONE, we won't play it....

Yeah no duh Haikey is closed, we are on it, and will be doing the best we can.

Just you don't worry your fluffy little head about it.

Go fly a kite, Treat. You could try to be somewhat respectful but instead your acting like a little punk. If you can't take constructive criticism you should not be a TD. You should take a page out of your Fathers book and learn to respect peoples opinion.

You are brainless if you don't include BH. I'm starting to get the feeling the only reason you run tournaments is for the $$$ because you obviously don't respect the players who pay to play your tournaments. Your attitude sucks.

I thought you were making an attack at me so I fired back...

I respect the fact that a player has every right to argue for a course to be played...

I also do not respect disrespecting a TD on his own Tournament page.

Conners called me, and we have talked it out.

He didn't like my tone, and I didn't like his.

Is he in the right? Yes.

Am I? Yes, but to a lesser extent.

Did I handle it properly? No, should have been more diplomatic. However, I still feel like I had a point to defend and I think I did that.

So I think I will take Conners advice and go throw my kite around....:D

But let me finish by saying, sorry, I took what you said the wrong way Mike, and I am sorry about that.

P.S.

For those of you who Pm'ed Conners, and I think I know who you are, why not send your complaint to the TD instead of someone else???

I am only one half of TnT....I am the explosive, dad is the fuse.

And that reflects our thinking to some degree. I am quick to blow up on someone. And dad burns slowly....

What does this mean anyhow? We played it last year, no problems. Playing in the rain/mud is part of the game. It's gonna be bad at every park, unless you're going to do 4 rounds at McClure.

IMO, it would be a big mistake to leave out Blackhawk. You want to get Hunter in the mix? Drop Redhawk. Simple.

While that may seem like the logical thing to do, then you have people driving across town and back for that one round right?

Commish called me.

Explained himself, I understood where my mistake had been and I recognized it.

If he felt bashed by my post, and he was just trying to rep Blackhawk and get it in the lineup, then I should not have answered him like that.

I had misunderstood, I now understand.

Still, I think it is safer, and better for the tourney and the club that it benefits, for the more diplomatic half of TnT to field all questions from this point forward.

So look to "Treat", instead of me for question and answer.

Of course, this is where having dads login info memorized comes in handy.... :D

Scheduling tournaments this spring in particular is going to be very tricky. Just ask Martin as he is approaching the glorius kick-off of the Spring Fling.

Personally, I love both Black and Red Hawk. I think Red Hawk has been underrated and under utilized probably due to its proximity to Black Hawk, which is arguably the best course in Tulsa.

My concern is this. You would be amazed at how many people fear Black Hawk. As soon as you mention it they are like oh yeah, thats find for the good players but for everyone else it is just too hard. I don't agree with that, especially after the pruning that course received from Mother Nature this winter.

The GCD is being ran as a TDSA club event. This is due to Joe Rotan's generosity since it was scheduled to be one of his Twisted Flyer events.

While we all love the Pro's, financially the backbone of any tournament, mini or whatever is the Am players. To be honest, that is where the dollars come from that end up profiting the club. We pay out 100% plus to pro players, which is as it should be.

I realize the time is quickly approaching to make final decisions. Maybe if we used Black Hawk for the best shot round more Am's would want to play it, and would in fact see that it is a very enjoyable and playable round of golf. Challenging yes, doable, yes as well.

Thanks for all of the input. What I can promise, regardless of course selection, is a well ran tournament that I hope is fun for everyone.

[IMO, it would be a big mistake to leave out Blackhawk. You want to get Hunter in the mix? Drop Redhawk. Simple.

[/QUOTE]

BLACK HAWK / HUNTER / HAIKEY / DOVILLIO
ANY ORDER THIS WOULD SEPARATE THE BETTER PLAYERS FOR THE REST FOR SURE....DOUBLES OR SINGLES....NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER WOULD BE LIKE....ANYBODY THAT IS UNDER PAR AFTER THOSE FOUR COURSES WOULD BE CHAMPS.

Maybe if we used Black Hawk for the best shot round ...

Wow, how else would you use it? Anything else would just be sadistic for divisions besides Pro and maybe Adv, and even a little bit for those divisions.

Let's play Blackhawk worst shot/alternating arms. Feels like...

Well said, Treat.

Here's one am's opinion... I appreciate Black for what it is, a challenge. That being said its certainly not my favorite course in Tulsa, b/c of that reason. I've pretty much hit a wall at 280' - 300' distance wise off the tees with any meaningful accuracy and since staying in the fairways is so necessary @ BH, so tune it down to 260'...just to make sure & keep it there. So for me, Black aint really a walk in the park and I'm not saying every round or course should be. Sure if (when...hopefully..) I'm able to add some distance off the tees, Black would be a lot more fun. But having lost several discs to the lakes, being 6 over going into the 4th hole, can make it very intimidating & frustrating experience.

That being said, White is a blast. I've had some decent scores and lots of fun playing off the white tees.

Sorry but I don't consider that legite because it wasn't sanctioned. You're going to have to do something in a sanctioned event before Mattel will consider making action figure in your likeness. :D

Well ok, you have a point but I don't think that is the same thing buddy. There is more drinking and partaking of nature's wonders at CS plus with some camping and some going home to sleep in a warm bed, results can be mixed based on the level of intoxication, lack of sleep, and hangover status of it's participants. :D

Just because you and Sammy took steriods before OK Dubs doesn't make your victory shine in the eyes of the DG Gods. ;)

On top of that, CS is not a doubles event. When you look a list of scores and names of a dubs event you can mostly tell who the dominate player was, and who was the monkey who got carried on their back. As long as Sammy carries an extra banana or two for you, you guys should do ok. :D

Mr Treat hate to point this out but you have everyone playing the same course at the same time on sunday, it might be a little slow playing.
Just suggestions but, I dont mind if everyone plays Blackhawk instead of white. That way you can see how you stack up against the big boys! unless you want to put the lowest-Jr divisions there. What are the ratings breakdown for what division? Is it the new pdga ratings breakdown or going on last years divisions? Are you doing the new Novice and Rec divisions? I am trying to figure out what division I need to be in.

Yup, my mistake, that is one of the MANY prototypes of the flyer we had...

The B flight will have those sunday courses flipped...

As in Flight A finished best shot at black, flight B finishes 666 on Red...

Then everyone comes back to McClure for awards...

I went back and changed the post, so for those of you who have seen it already (even though luckily the typo was on Sunday, so we could have fixed it later anyway...) go back and look.

Like I said I just flipped the courses for flight B on Sunday...

Good catch...

Obviously when you look at so many layouts of flyers and so many different format combinations...they all gel together at some point....

As far as division breakdown...pops...

Birdie
Feb 19 2008, 05:43 PM
I think as far as division rating requirements we are going with the 08' standards, which I quote for all Amature Men this is how it will break down, "MA1- mandatory for 935+, MA2 <935, MA3 <900, MA4 <850."

This can be found HERE (http://tinyurl.com/384kuq) under "Guide to 2008 Tour Standards"....

Is that convoluted enough? :D

Due to the Tulsa County Parks decision to keep Mack Taylor closed to Play the following changes have been made to the weekend schedule for Spring Fling #1 and Spring Fling #2.
Spring Fling #1 will begin at Reed Park as scheduled but will be expanded to 36 holes and will become an all day event. There are no extra holes to be played just the original 9 played 4 times around.
Spring Fling #2 will be at Kelly Lane park in Sapulpa and it too will be expanded to 36 holes ( 4 times around the 9 hole layout) no extra holes (temporary) will be in play.

If the eagle can fly with the doe-doe bird then I'm willing to give you a shot at DG inmortality by being your partner and maybe you won't have to "fry like bacon" in the long run.

THEY ARE HERE!

The players pack discs and the San Marino Re-Releases are safe in the treat fort....

And boy are they sweet...

I already have people from all over asking to order some, but I want to give the local guys a shot at them first...I only ordered 25 and several are gone already...

So if you want to try one of these super sweet discs...send me a PM and we can hook up...

They are all white, mixed weights, with the leprechaun stamp like is on the flyer.

They are priced at $15.00 so get em' while they last!!!

This just in!!!!!! I have just recieved the new PDGA Doubles rule book. I will make the new rules available. There are many changes. I think that I should be appointed a tournament official so I can make crucial rulings as needed. There are many complicated interpretations, however I am certian that I will be able make accurate rulings no matter how much that they benefit Martin and I.

OK, I have posted all of the elgible pre regs I have forms for.

I say elgible because the PDGA does not recognize mixed doubles for some reason

Mixed dubs so far are Corey Briley and Ashley Hoster vs Chris and Nicole Claring.

The next situation is due to the fact that the PDGA does not have a form that works for doubles. So they instructed me to enter one players name in the normal space for a first name and the next player in the last name space. Weird huh??

Anyway, this will work and socres will be posted timely etc.

After the tournament is over, I will send in a separate spreadsheet with everyones scores and PDGA#s for your points. No ratings from doubles but you do get points.

Jay Slack is doing lunch both days, details to follow.

Cool players pack, weather is looking good so everyone get ready...

with a few laborers and a back hoe we successfully cleaned 10, 11, and cut the debris on 12, the ground there is not sutable for the back hoe. hole 12 could use some dragging for sure. thanks to randy, wade, mike treat doug duff for showing up to help with the clean up.
we plan on returning this afternoon to work on the front nine and holes 15 thru 18 any help would greatly be appriciated. come on out and build some goood carma for your GCD tourny.
we will have a few saws and the back hoe (hopefully) we need hands to assist with movement of debris from wet locations to dry locations for randy to move the piles away from our playing lines.
my focus is on the righty hyzer lines as that is the lines i throw.if there are any interested leftys out there this is fair warning. hahaha

Thanks to everyone who is helping out at Red Hawk!!!

This thing is about to happen. It's going to be a lot of fun..

We will be at McClure tomorrow at 3:00 to take sign ups and we will get a doubles round going. Flex start, bring your own partner or you can find one there.

Getting there at 3:00 and probably staying until dark...

It would be really cool for as many people to swing by tomorrow as possible. Saturday mornings are always a little frenzied..

We will be at McClure Saturday morning around 7:00. Signs ups will be open until 8:30. Players meeting at 9:00 and then we will get you out on the courses.

Flight A Pros and Advanced will head to Dovillio. Everyone else will play McClure.

Jay Slack will have lunch available at McClure. Second round time TBD.

Mohawk is Sunday. They do not start charging for parking until April 1st. I verified this on their website and I went in person and talked to them.

I really hope you can make it. We are running this totally for the benefit of the TDSA. Come out and support YOUR club..
