What a blast, Rockwall is a sweet course. Big props to Josh for his first tourney, and also to Mace for all the hard work, and to the City of Rockwall's Park and Rec. dept. for keeping the maintenance up on the course. I am going to have to blame my second round 57 on my card for not pushing me. :oOh and maybe on the HEAT....No it was fun Awesome course.. Thanks John Houck. :D

Where do I begin? :D

I'm glad everyone had a good time! That was the whole point of the thing and in that respect I am very happy to have succeeded. I learned a lot about what it takes to put on a good event and I hope that I can put that knowledge to good use at the next one. I certainly will be more prepared for the unexpected.

I tried to thank everyone during the players meeting and awards and I'm sure I missed more than a few. I want to post here so it's in writing: I could not have done this without help from all of the people around me. I don't want to make this a novel but some people deserve to be recognized :)

Deidre
where would I be without this woman? Anyone who knows me at all knows that I don't need to go into a detailed description here... she is the only reason I can even get out of bed in the morning. Nothing positive you have seen me do in the last 4 years would have been possible without Deidre.

Brian Mace
This man was a constant source of information, experience, and help along the way. I used a bunch of his equipment, many hours of his time before and during the tournament, and as much of his years of experience and built-up expertise as he could stand to lend :D. He even helped design the tournament stamp. Three cheers. I mean it.

Stevan Koye
This guy showed up after getting only a couple hours of sleep the night before. He helped do a bunch of manual labor, he helped count cards, he took a bunch of pictures, and he overall kept the tournament flowing. Thanks dude, you rock.

Paul Testa, Jay Bitner, Nate Bitner
This group of gentlemen lended their hands, their brains, their money, and their gear to help me get the course in tip-top shape. The island hole was derived from Nate's original concept. The 17a basket, paint, tape, and string was provided by Jay. PT walked the course with me and provided a ton of brain power and experience on how to improve course flow. All 3 of them helped put it all in place. What a great group of local pro players.

The City of Rockwall
Wow. the amount of work that went into this course for our little shindig is amazing. I had a Gator to drive around all day, I had water in coolers, and I had the best course a TD could ask for. Muchas Gracias.

This group of folks is so large that I can't thank everyone individually but it needs to be said. Each of them contributed to the event in a significant way:
Daryl Johnson
Adam Murphy
Ray Murray
Gary Duke
Todd Jones
Brice Longerbone
Don Q
Levi Lowry

and of *course* all of my sponsors (who have already been listed) made it happen in the biggest way. Lunch and added cash was provided by all of the businesses, clubs, and individuals who gave selflessly to the tournament so that others could enjoy. The water on the course was donated by the City, by Catalyst Church, and by Deidre and myself. CTP prizes, Raffle prizes, and Ring of Fire prizes were 90% donations!

Last but most definitely not least: The players. An event is only as good as the people who show up and have fun playing it. The groups of folks that came out his weekend were as good of a group as I've ever seen at an event and I am very proud to have been a part of making it happen for you guys. Thanks sincerely for coming out, for playing golf, and for making all of the hard work totally worth it!

Glad to see you made it to *ROCKWALL* this weekend, Hero. Good thing you rode with Pepper or you may have been playing McKinney by yourself :D

By the way folks I wanted to let you know: I planned to break even this weekend and I'm almost there. If anyone wants to buy a few more tournament-stamped discs, please find me soon. I gave a bunch of them away but I do still have a few Star and Champ Wraiths, a Roc or two, maybe an Aviar... and 10 or so CFR discs. I'll get a list together tonight of what's left. I haven't 100% finalized the numbers yet but I'm about $500 short of breaking even. Selling the rest of my plastic should cover that. Plus it's a really cool stamp! :)

LOL. An easier and faster solution, especially when dealing with the # of bites that i have, is to cover them with your favorite roll-on/speed stick deodorant. Relieves the itch, and makes you smell like a cheap #%^&%. :D

Josh,
Thanks bro for the great tourney!! It's cool that someone from our group stepped up and pulled off a sweet tourney. D-Chick, thanks for ALL your hard work also. You two are awesome!! ;) I can't wait until next year, but I agree with N8 that it should be when its cooler outside.. A course that size would play much better with optimal temps..

baldguy
Jun 03 2008, 10:08 AM
well I had to choose between a weekend in March and the one we played. I wanted to take the March one but I couldn't have been ready in time. I'm seriously considering moving it to a cooler weekend for next year... but that's not a decision I'm going to make today :)

I don't have the pictures up yet but I will soon. Here's a general idea of what I have left to sell:

tournament-stamped
6 Star Wraiths170-175
6 Champ Wraiths 167-175
2 Glo Ontario Rocs
2 CFR Glo Starfires
1 CFR Glo Sidewinder (I found another one)
4 CFR Destroyers
2 CFR Gators (still not sure I'm going to sell these)

I also have a few discs that are MaceMan stamps or non-custom stamps for sale. I ended up trading several discs in for tournament stamped ones... I will try to get a better list up tonight and I should be bringing them all with me to the Vet tomorrow night

If you have more than 8 PDGA rated rounds(which you do), your last 8 rounds are double weighed(or something like that.) In other words they are averaged twice b/c that is how you are playing recently.

RustyP

ahhh...thanks hero!

If you have at least 6 rounds, your most recent 25% (one quarter) of them are double weighted. So, if you have 22 to 25 rounds, then your most recent 6 would be double weighted.

Chuck, I quickly scanned through the online ratings documents and failed to find the exact wording. So it's 25%. Good to know. Thanks.

....and Rusty, you're welcome. Nice shooting that final round!

Not sure why you would double weight your last 6 when only the last two (25%) would be double weighted? Try that.

cgkdisc
Jun 06 2008, 11:18 AM
We use all your round ratings (that don't get excluded for too low rating) you throw in the previous 12 months from the date of your most recently rated round.
