Well, I believe that would require a fairway ace, Mr. Gator. The good pros can certainly set up for it on the drive, so it can be done, but honestly, not by me. It's fun to visualize, though. :)

http://www.heavymetalonline.co.uk/acatalog/skidrow.jpg

That's right, Youth Gone Wild, baby! They will be playing right off of hole #2 at the convention center for like $20 on Saturday night. What a great opportunity for those of us camping at the course. :( True, they are without the Baz, Sebastian Bach. But, they have been for like ten years and their new dude, Johnny Soling is from TEXAS. My cousin has seen the new line-up and says they are still rockin'.

TBender,
Would you consider it to be the wrong division if I never complain about losing and I personally just enjoy playing up so I can enjoy learning from those that have played a little longer than me? Personally I'd play open every time if it didn't cost so much more and I wasn't afraid that I might make a few of the pros mad.

Can you put 4 people in that room for $50 ?? I don't think TB was putting anyone down, Matt...just think he was saying that many int/rec rated players are playing up above their rating...I peronally don't see anyone playing down out of their divisions per the PDGA .

mpetre
Feb 20 2008, 01:40 PM
I didn't take it as a put down necessarily, just curious as to what others think of my losing strategy to forever play above my head (well that is at least until I'm World Champion :) TB is one of the coolest guys I've played a round with. I just wish that Intermediate wasn't playing up for me, basically I hate the new division splits and don't think the PDGA did a service to anyone with them...

chylandad
Feb 20 2008, 01:42 PM

Feb 20 2008, 02:55 PM
Matt, I've always believed in playing where you want to (if allowed), and you are enjoying it. There is no single strategy for everyone - a player only knows what's good for themselves (and I can tell you that is hard to remember when I caddy for Kat). It's when person A gripes because person B isn't playing according to A's thoughts.

(And honestly, there is about 3 or 4 of us who have more pressure now than if we were in MA1.)

tbender
Feb 20 2008, 03:17 PM
This whole scenario reminds me of 2003, when the divisions were tied to the ratings. A lot of people jumped down in the resettlement, which ended up being good. Newer players gained experience faster and older players stayed around longer and avoided the "up, up, and out" disease.

I'm sure by the times the divisions restabilize, the HQ will shuffle it up again.

SuperGirl (Nicole) had a great time this weekend winning the intermediate womens division. The tournament ran very smoothly. The Riverside disc golf course was beautiful and was one of the nicest courses she have ever played. We definitely hope to be back next year.

The course seemed to fit Nicoles game really well. This tournament marked the first time Nicole has thrown 3 consecutive rounds that were rated over 800. Her average rating for the tournament was 826. Her 3 round rating of 842 was her highest rated round ever, even though had a stroke penalty for a missed mando and had a double circle 6 on a short 228 foot hole during that round. However she also made a 4 on the tough 700 foot hole (ob on both sides with trees in the middle) during that round. She had her biggest drive of the tournament on that hole (valk), followed by a big bending anhyzer from behind some trees (sidewinder), followed by a medium length approach shot (coyote) that landed 10 feet past the hole, and made the putt for a good 4. She also had 4 birdies during the tournament (tying her personal best), and her 13 stroke margin of victory was her best ever. Overall it was a great weekend of golf for her.

Lastly she had a great time playing with the girls in her division. She really enjoyed spending the weekend with them on course. She also enjoyed playing on a card with Tony B (1st round), Laura K (2nd round), and Suemac (3rd round). We also want to thank the TD for giving Nicole her payout early. This allowed Nicole to make it back to Houston in time to play in her teams soccer game.

Thanks..Rick

PSNicole loved the trophy and has it prominently displayed in her trophy case.
