That advance field is loaded with great players, I predict you will need to shoot 3 950s to make the cut. Gonna be exciting to watch that leaderboard move around. Some of the advance moved south to Intermediate, can't say I blame them. The crosstown champion is going to be the one with his A game 4 sure..

Mini Thumber, Cool Vanilla Hemi Time T-41hrs. Make the cut Rock :p

2 more 'big guns' into the mix in Brian Jones and Caleb Wood

I'm thinking the winner of advanced will be right about 1000 rated for the whole weekend!!! CRAZINESS FOLKS!

Im also thinking duke will need 1000+ rated shooting to take out UNC this time! ;) (dont worry rock... i dont really care either way... just giving you a hard time)

Par probably SHOULD 1000 if the weather holds like it it says it will.

However, with highest rated player being 975 and no pros in the field, Ams will get screwed in thier rating.

stack
Mar 06 2008, 05:40 PM
then how did the winners average 984, 995, 988 the last 3 years?! ive wondered about that (and this is where Chuck Kennedy magically pops up)... does it really impact the field that much not having any UBER Pros in the mix? seems like the ratings are aligned with other tournies but i guess its hard to tell.

what would you say the SSA is for both courses? looking back its kinda interesting that both even out ~50

MTL21676
Mar 06 2008, 06:12 PM
SSA at Zeb is around 51. Cedar is around 49, typically.

These are both traditionally, obviously.

However, for ams, they usually work out about the same b/c ams blow up at Cedar.

Pros shoot much better at Cedar than at Zeb and it is about even in the am division.

Yeah, it impacts the field. Look at tournaments where pros played the same layout as the ams just at different times. Burlington tournaments is a really easy place to do this. Or Buckhorn rounds 2 and 4 for the intermediates b/c everyone played the shorts on 1 and 3 but only intermediates played them all 4.

IT is a lot better than it use to be but until ratings are based off the course and not who plays it and what they shoot, they are pretty much inaccurate.

The rain may be out earlier, and the wind, was that at Zebulon where things are a bit more open. Wind could be a big factor. Duke will need to be shooting good sat night to offset that other teams power, but if they are. Look out! :D

LOL... darn it... they're onto you guys! ;)

if you look @ the prior year to that you'll notice it was the 21st crosstown. I'd guess they are counting the Pro and Am so the Pro Crosstown this year will be the 26th (even though they call it the 25th like the Am)... Am next year will be the 27th and so on.

Yeah went out to Zeb yesterday and today got two garbage bags filled with trash course is clean as a whistle, besides all of the little twigs and branches that are coming down from this storm have not seen any lightning yet winds are about 8-10 mph Heavy rain Hole 4 theres a lake infront of the hole prolly gonna stay there all weekend and the new drainage system for the tee pads are working great so far. Got another big puddle on hole 16 by the batting cages,Saw a bunch of snakes on eights teepad by the bench looked like a yellow belly corn snake just getting some rain so watch out for the snakes this weekend they are out there! Right now just a drizzle. But it's shaping up to be one wet tourney it looks like.

Yoo's trophy discs where hung by the weight bench with care... in hopes that more would join them after his back did repair.

All the other Ams were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of cedar hill roll aways ran thru their heads.

Big Jerm sleeping with his Wasp and still talking crap... had just settled down for a pre Zebulon nap

when what to my wondering eyes should appear? Kirk Yoo banging on pots and pans yelling get the hell outta here!

Here's one for you MTL. A 56 in the first round on Saturday shot at Cedar Hills by an intermediate player was rated at 937. The same 56 shot at Cedar Hills on Sunday morning by an advanced player is rated at 956. I know things played differently each day but as bad as the conditions were at Zebulon on Saturday I would expect them to have been worse (more difficult) on Saturday.

I definitely had fun this weekend and it was nice to get a chance to play with some different people. Sunday afternoon at Zebulon was one of the most consistent rounds of golf I've played. It seems like most other rounds there was that blow up hole (or holes) where I would look back and think I could have shot better (that double circle 7 on 16 in the first round for example.... my 8 missed putts in the second round.... or the 7 bogies in the third are others). And it sure was nice to get a shot at Zebulon again WITHOUT THE WIND.

Thanks to everyone involved with RADL for their efforts in another successful Am Crosstown & to all the sponsors that helped with extra money and prizes. When I picked up my players pack on Friday, I thought the payout for the tournament would be small because the value of the players pack was $45 out of the $60 entry fee. That was definitely NOT the case though as the payouts on Sunday were huge. Having the RADL store available to allow players to pick their players pack and winnings is also something that everybody likes since they can pick stuff they like rather than getting discs you may or may not like.

Again thanks for a well ran tournament & a geat prizes. For next year... any chance you can do something about the wind ? :D
